  1. Several weeks had passed since the Ookami had ventured to these parts of Bygonegrove, his emergence from the treeline surrounding a meadow and treehouse currently under the occupation of an Oscuri princeling's social club or deranged cult.
  2.
  3. He wasn't sure which, given what he knew.
  4.
  5. Even so, wanderlust brought him all sorts of places-- this would be his second visit, dangerous or no. As it happened the all-male group did not appear present, a more favourable prospect in the form of a single girl lurking yet. He makes no disguise of his approach, managing a smile and a raised hand in greeting.
  6.
  7. "Hello. Are you with those 'Palsosaid-rick?' I didn't think they took girls."
  8.
  9. Felan awaits a response, apparently quite friendly on the surface.
  10. (Felan)
  11. [11:44:48] Felan: (so slow)
  12. [11:48:12] It seems that Nerissa really didn't want to learn and she was quick to make a retreat into the treehouse. The girl would shrug slightly, sucking on her thumb as she allowed for her notes to return into her pocket. It was a calm day and a rabbit gathered at her foot begging for more food. So she did, and the core of the apple that she finished was dropped to the floor.
  13.
  14. Although the rustling of winds and the voice of a boy caught her attention. He spoke and she listened until it was her time to speak. The girl dressed in rich garments. Something she probably shouldn't be doing in the middle of the woods. Yet the girl was ignorant to the disasters this may cause.
  15.
  16. "Oh hi." She waved back at him, approaching slowly. "You mean... Cedric's friends? Yea yea. I'm like... his best friend!" She would point a thumb at herself... Super proud!
  17. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  18. [11:51:37] The Ookami eyes her in appraisal, not particularly caring for a difference in social and economic status perhaps-- they could not appear more different in that respect. His smile falters in the least at the affirmation though, a recollection of the previous encounter coming to mind.
  19.
  20. "Oh." He realises something, and it's written upon his face. "So did he make you eat a Yokai's heart as well? That Cedric is very strange, even for a stone-dweller. He's going to get someone killed one day, you know?"
  21. (Felan)
  22. [11:54:11] She would laugh and in all honesty he spoke the truth. Cedric was rash, angry and almost everything all at the same time, so she nodded in agreement. Maybe he was the brute and Lauren was the brains of the club! Yea! Totally. She praised herself in her head before smiling goofly at Felan.
  23.
  24. "Yea I know. And no. He didn't. We were friends before the... thing. And cause I nearly beat him too!" She would shiver slightly memories of the tournament flashing back in her head. Bad times.
  25. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  26. [12:00:09] Felan can't quite find it in him to laugh with her, but nor is he in such a rush to condemn-- Lauren, at least. "Beat him? In a game, or a fight?" Some small curiosity arises, moreso than in the girl as a person. The Ookami held more interest in such things than making friends.
  27.
  28. "...I don't think I'd want to be his friend, really. If he treats them that way, imagine how bad he is to anyone else!? I thought the girls in Wychwood were bad, but he's much worse."
  29. (Felan)
  30. [12:03:34] She would stare.
  31.
  32. "Wait."
  33.
  34. Something would almost tick in the back of her head. The task that Obsidian had made for her. "You are friends with the Ookami in the wychwood? I met one too... Red hair... Can't remember name, had a baby." The girl would nod speaking of her memories of Lana. She wanted to know more of Felan and his relationships with the Ookami in the west. "Why are you here anyway? Not in the city?"
  35.
  36. She would shrug, looking to the side and sighing. "Don't say stuff like that about my friend!" The girl was getting defensive about this. Rather defensive about how he spoke of Cedric. Very unpleasently actually.
  37. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  38. [12:06:59] Lauren recieves a questioning look, brows raised a little in silence as he takes in what had been said and reasoned it out as best he could. Alas, the Ookami seemed to have a knack for ticking off females in particular. "I didn't say anything that's not true." He words defensively, sure in his logic.
  39.
  40. "...As for my kindred, there's more than one redhead to be sure-- you're a friend?" The boy is the slightest bit sceptical in tone, outsiders taking an interest in his people rarely given much in the way if trust initially. Especially with recent problems.
  41.
  42. "There's a lot of bad people in the woods. I'm trying to drive them out, but I don't think you should visit yet."
  43. (Felan)
  44. [12:09:32] The girl would shake her head. "I don't want to visit." She really didn't. She didn't want to come anywhere close to the population of the Ookami. She was kind of scared of them, the adults anyway. "So do you... do all the stuff that they do too? Like attack Nostvale... Or New Alterosi? I heard about it." She would nod slightly.
  45.
  46. The girl would sit on the bench with a slight sigh. She was curious to know more about Felan's links with the Ookami. "And no...not friends. Just... know talk to her once. That's all."
  47.
  48. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  49. [12:15:31] Suggestions he might partake in attacking the lands of men draw a blank in the Ookami's mind, an absolute lack of acknowledgement written upon his visage-- Felan remained genuinely ignorant, raising a forefinger to dispute such a claim calmly.
  50.
  51. "Stone-dwellers drive others into our forests, and all I've heard is that you're the ones planning to attack us-- we won't give up our land though. You should tell the rest of them to give up!"
  52.
  53. And why shouldn't they? Felan could think of no justified reason they might invade as was rumoured.
  54.
  55. "...and then you should visit. Just make sure someone strong is with you! There's these Yokai-lovers around I've not beaten yet."
  56. (Felan)
  57. [12:18:04] She would raise a brow. "I'm not from the city." A lie was thrown in the direction of the Ookami, two children lying to each other. How could one distinguish from the other? "I live in the treehouse." Not a lie. She spoke and nodded. "I don't attack anyone. Am just... curious! Yea! I just want to know."
  58.
  59. She would sigh a little and begin kicking her feet. "Just very interested in.. the things that Ookami do and if you do it with them. Mhm!" The girl would nod a few times yet again. Agreeing with her own statement.
  60. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  61. [12:24:03] "Really? You do look like one..." He offers a subtle shrug, apparently accepting that he was wrong. There was little loss in conceding such a point regardless, given Felan's single-mindedness and lack of knowledge concerning the war going on.
  62.
  63. His vision passes over the treehouse-- compared to the manner in which the denizens of Wychwood lived, it appeared positively luxurious. "It is nice, but isn't it crowded with Cedric and his friend-servants?" The Ookami pauses a few moments, shuffling his feet and putting some weight upon his wooden staff.
  64.
  65. "...I don't do much with the others, I'm sort-of..." He furrows his brow a little, averting his gaze and wondering just how to define his activities. "...I'm a guardian. Yeah, I fight off the bad people and creatures-- I'm never really alone anyway."
  66. (Felan)
  67. [12:27:28] She has had enough.
  68.
  69. She would jump off the seat and smile towards Felan. "Hi, My name is Lauren Fildegarde. Daughter of the Marshal of Nostvale." The girl would nod in response to her own introduction. The Jay's words buzzing in her mind. Bouncing off every wall. Not only was she asked to capture an Ookami that was an outlaw, she was also hearing this Ookami make fun of her friends.
  70.
  71. "Sorry." She would shrug slowly drawing an elongated sword. "Gotta catch ya." In her mind, Felan was a monster. A creature that wanted nothing more but to hurt her friends and her family. She shook in her own boots, quiet literally scared of not knowing what this boy can do...
  72.
  73. "I have to capture you!" She girl would shout and echo her wants. Gluttonous for the attention of father once she returns with a present for him. A repayment for what he had given her.
  74.
  75. In her head, Felan was a villian and she was the hero.
  76. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  77.
  78. [12:33:26] The Ookami blinks in rapid succession at the change of pace, the rasp of steel being drawn putting him on guard nonetheless-- he grips his magical conduit, a particularly good branch, in both hands firmly. He adjusts quite quickly, adaptation something learned as a result of life in the wilds.
  79.
  80. "I'm Felan." He answers simply, given the girl had offered an infinitely more fancy name with an unknown title attached to it indirectly. No move is made to attempt a retreat, however warily his grey eyes look upon the sword; he had fought poor odds before, and this was surely nothing of the sort.
  81. (Felan)
  82.
  83.
  84. [12:39:24] The 'blade' that Lauren held was infact some sort of magical metal. With three holes down its side that seemed to do nothing until Lauren would begin pushing her mana into it. Her mana turned to winds that would crusade and interlope with the holes in the blade. Soon, the blade was in 'fire' from the winds. Although this was not the only thing that would shine winds.
  85.
  86. A black veil of winds would curtain itself around the girl. Casting a shadow on all that was around her. The girl's dark winds consuming her whole. Even that wasn't the end of it! Lightning would radiate from the occult cloud. Pushing into the ground and burning the grass. The girl was ready to storm into battle and capture a present for her father!
  87.
  88. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  89.
  90. [12:40:16] Though a fighter, the wolfkin is no battle fanatic despite the fact he seemed to spend much of his time beating down hysterical girls these days. Not a sign of a smile is shown any longer, but an intense focus and a hushed whisper upon the air-- there was no need to hold back here, if losing meant capture and whatever that entailed.
  91.
  92. "Spirits, come to my aid."
  93.
  94. Felan's magic was narrow, and perhaps unrefined-- but an immense stamina is tapped into, a featureless phantom with a spiritual blade drawn from the spirit realm to his side; only one, but a cut above most in strength. In the same moments of preparation, particles of earth are drawn from the ground and form a second skin of resilient earthen armour.
  95.
  96.
  97.
  98. (Felan)
  99.
  100. [12:46:14] It was the darkness of electrifying winds versus spirit magic and earth. Earth being the opposite of the two. If anything the boy should've been able to use the earth to nullify all lightning and wind. To some extent, he did. Although this did not last long as Lauren's winds would simply shred through all and any defence. The winds were sharp and could easily erode through the clothes that the boy was wearing. Leaving the clothes with plenty of cuts and rips.
  101.
  102. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." She really did feel bad and sorry for what she had to do. Yet it was for the better good. The girl knew that! Yet she had to do this… For her dad! Well, or so she believed. She thought that the bird was telling her tips and tricks on how to appeal to her father. Yet was that what he really wanted? Unthinking of this, the girl would continue this senseless fight.
  103.
  104. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  105. [12:50:30] Whatever Felan had hoped of Lauren, any expectation of good treatment one way or the other is discarded. Once more, he finds himself opposing a warped child upon the path of darkness, the twisting of the mind inherent in such magic perhaps to blame for the mid-battle apologies.
  106.
  107. It wasn't going well at all.
  108.
  109. Regardless of the obstacles formed in Lauren's path, not a one manages to stop her for long; traps and barriers devised in former conflicts prove utterly incapable, the girl carried upon deadly winds obliterating all means of defence. In short order his earthen shell is flaking or removes in places, what passed for his clothing cut in numerous places.
  110.
  111. "No." He speaks harshly in defiance of his own loss, gritting his teeth and clenching his conduit for a final stand. He could still pull this off...!
  112. (Felan)
  113.
  114. [12:58:11] Felan knew full well he was fighting a losing battle, disbelief in the small human girl pulling off such feats as becoming a sort of moving maelstrom of darkness and cutting winds-- maintaining distance at all costs was his intention, but it was no longer so easy as his playing with more helpless opponents.
  115.
  116. Barrage after barrage of condensed earth shatter with apparent lack of effect upon Lauren's magic, but little by little the effects begin to show. It gave him hope, at least the slightest bit; gradually he was beginning to believe he could win, if only his stamina would not give out.
  117.
  118. Unfortunately that would not likely be the case, numerous small cuts bleeding exposed flesh and the aftereffects of being struck numerous times by lightning weighing heavy upon the Ookami.
  119.
  120. "...Give up. I won't kill you." He practically growls, not so convincingly for the feral anger that was beginning to take hold.
  121. (Felan)
  122. [13:02:27] She would engage yet again and her want was to win. She wanted to succeed in -something- that she was challenged with. She couldn't win the tournament, she came only second. Cedric winning the tournament by her forfeit. She was unable to do many things but this wasn't going to be one of them. She shook hard as she would stand up. Her body coloured in bruises…
  123.
  124. "No…" She would shake her head. Unyielding to the Ookami. Fear overcame her body quickly as he spoke the word kill… He was ready to kill..? How could a child of all be ready to kill? If anything this made her more scared, and her grip would only tighten on the sword. She was shaking even more now. Her skin almost as pale as her hair…
  125. Yet the girl wasn't going to go unfulfilled… She will win this!
  126.
  127. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  128.
  129. [13:08:25] The girl had come out victorious… She would win against the boy and kneel before his unconscious body. "Let's go to Nostvale… "She'd grab his hand only to have a pinning feeling to travel down her arm. It hurt. Being hit with rocks was probably just as bad as being sliced with wind. Her whole body would ache. She would place is hands over one another and concentrate her magic.
  130.
  131. A ring of Mournegale magic would flow around his hand. Trapping the boy from running anywhere. It was already proven that the girl was stronger than he, so would he really try to do anything? She grabbed him and began to walk down to New Alteros. She had a boat to catch. Her face white after the fight she'd wait till he awoke before speaking to him. "Am sorry… Okay?" her magic had already calmed down to a normal degree and no more did the Occultness leak from her.
  132.
  133. (Lauren Fildegarde)
  134.
  135.
  136. [13:14:24] It wasn't to be. Felan's technique was outclassed completely, the aid of a spirit not quite bridging the gap between one wielding a single element and the other wielding at least three in combination. He fights desperately, and to the very end-- only falling for good once consciousness is lost.
  137.
  138. No longer supported in the physical world by the fledgling shaman's power, the summoned warrior returns from whence it came; the ruined meadow that had been their battleground falls silent, but moments ago being filled with crashes of lightning, tumbling rock and howling winds.
  139.
  140. There would be no resistance possible, the Ookami taken prisoner for reasons for which he had little opportunity to fathom.
  141.
  142.
  143. (Felan)
  144. [13:14:24] Aev: oh)
