- General
- Balanced teams make for the best games. Check your scoreboard before joining.
- Remember: COMMUNICATION is the key to everything teamplay related. Report everything important you notice.
- Tell your team about partially damaged RTs/structures so people near them can take over when you've died.
- Use your minimap (default C) to be as aware of your environment as possible. Share information to increase awareness.
- Be aware of what's going on around the map, where the comm/your team is advancing to, where the opponent is advancing to.
- Your virtual life is much less important than your team's performance. Sacrifice yourself, e.g. to get an RT down before dying.
- Resource Towers are the key to everything. Prevent the opponent from capping them and protect your own RTs whatever it takes.
- Watch out for traps. Check your back whenever you proceed a possible hiding spot (corners/doors/high ceilings etc).
- Not everyone can read text all the time, use voice comms for important information (voice_enable 1 is a MUST).
- Alien (General)
- Clarify what's gonna be the second hive before the game starts. Build any structures close to your first 2 hives.
- Protecting your potential second hive is a top priority early in the game. Guard key areas leading to it.
- Help the people that will fade/hive to get the most kills (bait!) so they can do their job as early in the game as possible.
- As higher lifeform, avoid to die. Don't risk your life needlessly and play to your personal limits.
- Always be aware of what you attack. Observe marines, check which weapons they've got. Tell your team about it.
- Evolve in safe places (vents, on top of hives). Hive floors aren't always safe and it's not worth the risk.
- Tell the team what you plan to spend your res on. Ask others. Avoid a lack of resources for RTs/hives/lifeforms.
- If you're using cloak, don't forget to keep an eye on the blue indicator bar to see how cloaked you are.
- The silence upgrade is a great way to increase your sneakiness and decrease your approachability.
- Use vents. They do not only shorten your way, but also make you less vulnerable.
- Use unpredictable movement to avoid marine fire.
- Avoid long corridors and big, open spaces if marines are around.
- Ask which chamber your team wants before dropping any.
- Always have a secure escape route in mind.
- Alien (Gorge)
- Build intelligently. Do not block any hallways/doorways with chambers. Do not build structures far away from your hive(s).
- Place upgrade chambers behind the hive from the siege point's position so they don't get sieged before the hive.
- Spending your res on upgrade chambers and RTs is almost always more useful for your team than a bunch of random OCs.
- Ungorge immediately if there is no building or healing job to be done.
- When hiving, tell your team early so they can get through. Stay in the hive to 'use' it and heal lifeforms.
- Use spit and/or bile to clear mines when no-one is around them.
- When getting upgrade chambers, make sure you have a minimum of 3 chambers up (watch your HUD!) before returning to skulk.
- Alien (Skulk)
- Parasite. Observe. A skulk is mostly a scouting unit. Increase your team's awareness by reporting what you see.
- Avoid getting in the way. You are a supporting unit. Make use of your small size and wallwalk abilities.
- Don't attack groups of marines from the front. Use corners, vents and ceilings to ambush.
- Eating Resource Towers is one of your main jobs. Keep marine RTs to a minimum.
- When attacking Resource Towers, be as unapproachable as possible. Run away to the next RT if a marine approaches.
- Alien (Lerk)
- Due to his agility, the Lerk is an important supporting unit. Scout and observe. Weaken marines and wait for backup.
- Stay away from heavy weaponry. Sit in vents, spore and only attack severely weakened single marines.
- Stay in the air or in unreachable places as much as possible.
- Fly as irritatingly as possible to avoid getting hit. Watch your adrenaline bar at all times (right side of the HUD)!
- Use umbra on yourself, structures and other lifeforms to block a majority of marine bullets.
- Alien (Fade)
- Don't overestimate your strength. Stay away from large groups of marines.
- Use +movement to blink. You can blink and metabolise at the same time by binding each to a key.
- Use your energy carefully. Don't hold blink pressed down. Do short, single blinks and jump in between.
- Alien (Onos)
- Don't overestimate your strength. Stay away from large groups of marines.
- Only attack groups when you can stomp. Focus on devouring heavies. Run away to heal as soon as you got one.
- When trying to devour, always aim for the upper legs.
- Avoid small corridors where you can't jump in.
- Marine (General)
- Your comm will most likely announce the starting hive and tell you where to go. If not, tell your team if you found out.
- Cap Resource Towers near to your base and furthest away from the alien starting hive.
- Cap, recap and save Resource Towers without needing to be asked. Use your minimap to see what's needed.
- Always walk in groups. Keep a mid-range distance to your teammates or you're an easy ambush target.
- Wait or go back for backup, disadvance and/or join another group if your teammate(s) died.
- Watch the equipment icons on the right side of our HUD. Do not walk off alone with or waste any type of equipment.
- Place mines underneath structures instead of around them. Do not waste them on useless spots unless asked to.
- Weld your teammates. Hand them your welder to weld you if they haven't got one (check the scoreboard!). Ensure cover.
- If you die and drop equipment somewhere, instantly say where and get it back as soon as you can.
- If you see equipment on the ground, pick it up once so it doesn't disappear until someone comes and gets it.
- Cover builders. Always check the area before building (look up!).
- Support heavy armours. Weld them, block lifeforms for them, build structures while they cover.
- Hand Grenades are weak against structures. However, they're great to hit lifeforms around or on top of them.
- If you've got a Grenade Launcher, watch your fire. Don't shoot anything with marines around it.
- Shotguns are lethal for structures. Heavy Machine Guns are NOT, so save your bullets for attacking lifeforms.
- Check the area at any time. Constantly have a look at all directions and check possible hiding spots.
- Don't ask for a medpack if you've only been parasited. It doesn't make ANY difference.
- Marine (Heavy)
- Ensure to have full armour 100% of the time.
- Attack intelligently. At least one should always have a full clip, at least one should weld the ones defending.
- Do not only weld if you're damaged yourself. Be as helpful and fair to others as you'd like others to act towards you.
- Stick together in ANY case.
- When possible, stay in areas with a wide range of view to avoid getting devoured.
- Let light armour marines do the maintenance jobs. You're an attacking/defending unit, nothing else.
- Marine (Jetpack)
- Ensure to have full armour 100% of the time.
- Fly with your fuel bar in mind (right side of the HUD). Try to do short pauses in between to fill it.
- You're incredibly agile. Use it to your comm's advantage. Save, cap and recap RTs if you don't have a specific job.
- You're the counter to Onoses. Chase them. Stay in places they can't get you to avoid being devoured.
- Marine (Commanding)
- Use the 'group' function on structures for fast access (CTRL + 1-5).
- Use the marine call buttons on your left for field support.
- Use your minimap to scroll. Constantly check on players in the field to ensure fast support.
- Watch red-flashing buildings on your map. Beacon when vital structures are in danger and no-one is around.
- When a team of Heavies is about to die, try to save them by beaconing.
- Use shortcuts to access menus. It's not hard to learn and much faster.
- Give your team precise orders. Use the waypoint system.
- Check upon the starting hive by scrolling the map and listening to walking skulks. Report to your team.
- Don't drop PGs against walls or in corners - this makes it far too easy for aliens to kill any marines phasing through.
- Get the first armour upgrade as soon as possible. It vastly improves the strength of your marines.
- Spending res on upgrades and weapons is almost always more effective than building turrets or electrifying.
- Drop a pack of mines every time you just built a new Phase Gate or lost mines on one.
- Get a second Infantry Portal to reduce spawn times as soon as there's constantly more than 2 in the spawn queue.
- Build structures far away from the IPs so spawning marines can save them.
- If aliens got Sensory Chambers, ensure constant scanning around your marines. Get multiple Observatories around the map.
- Against SC, don't get Jetpacks before Heavy Armours. Focus aliens will take out Jetpackers rather easily.
- Get grenades early in the game. They're handy to save RTs and attack unreachable aliens.
- Finish the game as soon as you can. Don't play warlord.
- Don't leave the comm chair unless it's really, REALLY necessary.
