1. It would so happen that Violet would return home that evening, same as normal. Helping her mother out around the shop again because she had nothing else to do. It was close to curfew as she slipped the spare key out from under the mat and unlocked the door, fully exhausted. Blu had been out too, she’d seen her around a couple times talking to somepony else about music and radio shows, but she didn’t think anything of it at all. As a matter of fact, now that she’d stopped to think, she hadn’t seen her since this afternoon…
2.
3. “Bluuuu, I’m hooome…” she called out softly, in case her mare friend was still asleep. No answer, so she figured she’d slip into the bedroom to snuggle up to her marefriend - no, her fiancée, and surprise her when she woke up.
4.
5. …Except there was nopony in the bedroom either. Violet’s stomach lurched as the panic began to build in her mind. Where was she? Maybe the bathroom, sometimes you couldn’t hear calls in there. The little Pegasus’ breathing grew heavy when she poked her head and that was empty too. She had promised to be home before curfew, which was only thirty minutes away now…
6.
7. “Blu?!”
8.
9. She called out louder now, to no avail. Louder still, no answer. Usually she could hear her through those damned headphones…
10.
11. “No… no… where are you, Blu, no…”
12.
13. Her head flailed around looking desperately for a sign from her, anything at all that might assure her that her beautiful angel was okay. She hadn’t seen her since this afternoon, when she’d been talking to that strange pony about a radio show-
14.
15. “…”
16.
17. Silence fell upon the house. It had now dawned upon Violet what had happened. That pony had turned her mare friend in. And now she would be held by the guards, and questioned… possibly tortured… and with her having their foal…
18.
19. It would so happen that there had been a heavy thunderstorm scheduled by the weather team for tonight, and it was just beginning to rumble. If all nights were to be moonless, this one would be especially so. A perfect night for a vengeful mare to take to the streets and hunt down a spy.
20.
21. Shiiiiiiiing!
22.
23. Violet took hold of the longest, most threatening knife this kitchen had to offer. If there was one thing to be said about this apartment, it was the cutlery. She growled low from her throat. Her marefriend was probably being tortured, lobotomized, sent to that… that reform camp- no… that concentration camp. The tears burned behind her eyes, and the rage boiled in her throat. Violet picked up a pencil too and wrote down a hasty note for the neighbor.
24.
25. Blu’s been taken on false pretenses. If I’m not back in half an hour, call the guard.
26.
27. And the lightning flashed in a pair of wild, crying green eyes.
28.
29. The door slammed open, and the note was promptly slammed onto the door of the nearest neighbor… Rouge, was it? Violet didn’t care right now. She’d surely hear the slam. With that done, she walked, not flew, in the direction of the guard HQ. If she were to fly, she would be at risk of being spotted by the weather pegasi, and that was the last thing she wanted. No, being caught would be a bad thing tonight… she didn’t care if they labeled her a dissenter. Not now. No one ever messed with her Blu, and that bitch would pay dearly for turning her in. A still-sane shred of her wondered if maybe her fears were baseless and she just couldn’t get home in time, but at least then she would’ve known about it.
30.
31. No, something stank of a rat tonight…
32.
33. Approaching the business district now, she whipped around. The guards would be approaching their posts now. The one supposed to be here now was one named… Nova Storm. They’d met before. She was a little unicorn with a prosthetic limb, but a tough one. A transplant from the Griffon Lands, and a pretty decent mare in her own right. Trying for a new start… and misled, though given that the media to other lands was controlled by Celestia, she didn’t blame her.
34.
35. But even she couldn’t know of Violet’s mission tonight. She dove into the nearest alley while the coast was clear. Though she took a second to pause, and suddenly remembered that… Jade, was found in an alleyway…
36.
37. And she swore she heard a sewer grate sliding open… She turned around to look toward the noise…
38.
39. “Oh, fu-”
