  1. 01[20:14] <@zoofman> Last time, on Crystal Crusade, meetings, greetings, teleportation crystals, silly passwords, beeeeees!
  2. [20:14] <Gelato> And groping.
  3. 01[20:14] <@zoofman> that too!
  4. [20:15] <Syl_> And getting knocked out.
  5. [20:16] <Mitzi> And mispronouncing and misspelling names :3c
  6. [20:16] <Rosette> And French.
  7. 01[20:17] <@zoofman> It is the dawn of the next day, and as each of you have found out by now, breakfast is served at the festival tents near the tavern in The Bastion. Alvis went out of his way to drop little inventations off for all of you to actually meet at the tavern itself today, as Saheed himself wants to meet you all!
  8. 06[20:19] * Gelato arrives the Tavern, feeling a bit wary. He did not wanted to drink another of his famous Keggers, for it is time to be SERIOUS! Still, he carries with him a stick of meat filched from one of the tents, munching it on the way.
  9. 01[20:20] <@zoofman> Mitzi, along side her tent, also found a bag similar to the one Beard Beard had the day yesterday. With the same contents, and a little book of passwords. That, and a note "It's dangerous to go alone, take this!"
  10. [20:21] <Mitzi> (oh you)
  11. 01[20:21] <@zoofman> It's surprisingly light, like 10 pounds tops!
  12. 06[20:21] * Harphe is up obnoxiously early, the very picture of coiffed protection as she pulls her new furry spr-boosting cape over her shoulders and fetches orange juice.
  13. 06[20:22] * Mitzi carefully removes the contents of the bag, resorting them into her own according to her meticulous organizational scheme.
  14. 06[20:22] * Syl_ is waiting at the front of the tavern, opting for travel rations and a canteen of water.
  15. [20:23] <Harphe> "Goood morning everyone~"
  16. 01[20:23] <@zoofman> The tavern itself is almost unnoticable from earlier, when it was covered in passed out patrons. Spotless clean, with a festival tabled lined with every breakfast option possible. 1,1 including pancakes.
  17. 06[20:24] * Harphe orders 1,1pancakes then
  18. 06[20:24] * Rosette is there fairly early, hiding the exhaustion that followed a day of item making and night of relatively little sleep rather well. She seems to have no problem making her way down to the pub fairly early.
  19. [20:24] <Gelato> "Mhhmhhm, good morning Milady." he waves back while munching on his meat on a stick while eyeing the 1,1Pancakes with lust.
  20. 06[20:24] * Syl_ enters the tavern, having had her fill.
  21. [20:24] <Rosette> "Bonjour, miss Harphe," She smiles to Harphe, getting some juice for herself and seating herself.
  22. [20:25] <Harphe> "Bonjour~"
  23. 06[20:25] * Mitzi arrives at the tavern with a cheery greeting. "Salutations!" She then sets to looking for 1,1waffles for breakfast.
  24. 06[20:26] * Rosette meawhile has put together 1,1 an omelette0,1 for herself.
  25. [20:26] <Harphe> "Hopefully we shall actually be doing something productive today~"
  26. [20:26] <Rosette> "Oui, and hopefully with less insects involved!"
  27. [20:26] <Syl_> "It will probably involve something worse than insects."
  28. [20:26] <Mitzi> "Second that Harfey. I hope my 'job' isn't a joke this time."
  29. 01[20:26] <@zoofman> Saheed is sitting at the far end of the table with a breakfast steak before him. At his right sits a Mithran woman in a blue, silky dress. "Come in! Come in! And I must insist, eat yourrr fill! You explorers, and my good friend Alvis, have a big day ahead of you! Wherrre is he anyway...hm, anyhow!"
  30. [20:28] <Gelato> "Hmmmhmm, the androgynous boy? I must say i have no idea of his whereabouts! Harrumph!"
  31. [20:28] <Syl_> "I assume he came to from that impact earlier."
  32. [20:29] <Harphe> "Possibly."
  33. [20:29] <Gelato> "Oh yes, he got quite a conk on the head, harrumph!"
  34. [20:29] <Rosette> "I would hope so. I hope the medicine I gave him for it wasn't too strong," she comments a bit worriedly.
  35. 01[20:30] <@zoofman> He lets out a big guffaw, and the woman at his side giggles to herself as well. Though you get the impression she's not sure what's so funny. "Oh, he's been up and about for a while. Should be returrrning soon, I take it."
  36. 06[20:31] * Mitzi grins and nudges Rosette with a knowing look. "Maybe his prayers got answered."
  37. 06[20:32] * Rosette chuckles lightly, "Mm, perhaps." She then looks towards Saheed, bowing her head, "Regardless, it is nice to finally meet you, monsieur Saheed."
  38. [20:32] <Syl_> "If he can't walk straight by the time he gets here...."
  39. [20:33] <Harphe> "Isn't that your fault in the first place?"
  40. [20:33] <Syl_> "Not at all what I meant."
  41. [20:34] <Harphe> "Oh?"
  42. 01[20:34] <@zoofman> "Ah, and the pleasurrre is mine to meet you all as well! I live to entertain, and entertain to live, after all! That and I must say, it feels like a banquet for a high mage's concuil here. A curious composition forrr a task such as this."
  43. [20:35] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm, such are the follies of youth." Gelato ponders with his sagely wisdom as he munches on the Pancake. "...Where is the cold milk, please?"
  44. [20:35] <Harphe> "You flatter us, madam."
  45. [20:35] <Gelato> (ffff forgot to spoiler it)
  46. 06[20:36] * Alvis arrives around now! He comes in with a long stretch and a few deep breaths; clearly, he's been up and exercising or something.
  47. [20:36] <Mitzi> "I found it curious as well," Mitzi speaks up. "but you're funding all this, right? So why are there so many of us mages?"
  48. [20:37] <Harphe> "Clearly the ability to manipulate the fundamental forces of nature is viewed as a benefit."
  49. [20:37] <Mitzi> "Uh huh, but sometimes it's just cheaper to hire guys who can hit things really hard. So there's some economic thought behind taking all of us magi."
  50. [20:38] <Gelato> "I do believe my field of study was viewed as a positive perk for the so-called mission we are being sent to." He hmm-hmms while munching. "So was said by our contractor."
  51. 01[20:38] <@zoofman> Saheed whispers something to the woman to his right. She nods, and brings a pitcher of milk to Gelato, filling a glass for him. "Well, I might be providerrr of the perishables, raw materials and transporrrtation, but as for who is brought here, that's mostlybeyond my control," he says with a toothy grin. "Ah, Alvis, good of you to join us, come, eat, eat!"
  52. 06[20:38] * Mitzi pokerfaces since her sole contribution to the party so hard HAS been hitting things really hard with a (ink)sword.
  53. 06[20:38] * Alvis sets himself down and takes a seat, ignoring the main course and opting for non-spoilered bacon and other meats as available.
  54. 01[20:40] <@zoofman> "The engineerrrs needed mages, the high priestess needed mages, even the mages needed mages! As for why, well," he shrugs.
  55. 03[20:40] * DiceMaid-9001 (DiceMaid-9@sux-EADD5C74) has joined #crystalcrusade
  56. 01[20:41] <@zoofman> Awarness checks, people~
  57. [20:41] <Syl_> 2d6+2
  58. [20:41] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, 2d6+2: 11 [2d6=5,4]
  59. [20:41] <Mitzi> 2d6+5
  60. [20:41] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, 2d6+5: 12 [2d6=1,6]
  61. [20:41] <Rosette> 2d6+5
  62. [20:41] <DiceMaid-9001> Rosette, 2d6+5: 15 [2d6=6,4]
  63. [20:41] <Harphe> 2d6+4
  64. [20:41] <DiceMaid-9001> Harphe, 2d6+4: 16 [2d6=6,6]
  65. [20:41] <Gelato> 2d6+3 don't have awareness though
  66. [20:41] <DiceMaid-9001> Gelato, don't have awareness though: 13 [2d6=4,6]
  67. [20:41] <Harphe> C-c-c-crit
  68. [20:42] <Harphe> you don't add stat
  69. [20:42] <Rosette> (OH GOD HARF CAN SEE FOREVER)
  70. [20:42] <Harphe> it's just straight skill ranks
  71. [20:42] <Gelato> (oh derp forget about it then)
  72. [20:42] <Mitzi> (So if you don't have awareness it's just straight 2d6 - at least it doesn't penalize you for being unskilled)
  73. [20:43] <Syl_> ( Considering the probability curve of 2d6, not having a bonus is penalty enough. )
  74. 06[20:43] * Gelato swigs down his pitcher. "Hmmhmm, Cryology is a hot topic these days, the young ones should understand that."
  75. [20:44] <Harphe> "A hot topic?"
  76. [20:44] <Alvis> 2d6+5 k
  77. [20:44] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, k: 16 [2d6=5,6]
  78. [20:44] <Alvis> "Well, I'm still here and I'm no mage."
  79. [20:45] <Syl_> "Likewise."
  80. [20:45] <Gelato> "Hmmm, more of a cold topic actually. Hohoho!"
  81. [20:46] <Harphe> "Well, I'm certain everyone on this team has some niche~"
  82. 01[20:46] <@zoofman> You all hear the pounding of feet as someone runs down the stares, and all look in time to see a Mithran girl dressed similarlly to the one in blue, only in purple. She also seems a bit younger. "Allllviiiis!" She dives at him!
  83. 06[20:46] * Mitzi mock groans at the exchange between Gelato and Harf. "If you don't cool it, you're going to drive me to drinking."
  84. 06[20:46] * Rosette groans, "Quelle horreur! That pun was an affront to nature." Rosette sighs then makes a religious sign over herself.
  85. 06[20:46] * Syl_ calmly takes a swig from her flask. It was going to be a loooooong day.
  86. 01[20:46] <@zoofman> 2d6+4 roll some evasion, Alvis!
  87. 03[20:46] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, roll some evasion, Alvis!: 13 [2d6=5,4]
  88. [20:47] <Syl_> The flask may very well be bottomless, for how often she drinks from it.
  89. [20:47] <Mitzi> (mfw Syl is Alexei)
  90. [20:47] <Alvis> (Wait, like, 2d6 plus my evasion or escape or what?)
  91. 01[20:47] <@zoofman> (evasion)
  92. [20:47] <Alvis> 2d6+13 well alright then
  93. [20:47] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, well alright then: 21 [2d6=3,5]
  94. [20:47] <Mitzi> (I think you wanted escape :B)
  95. 01[20:48] <@zoofman> Alvis sucessfully dodges the young girl's tacklehug attempt, as she slams her forehead into the festival table. "Ooooow~" :<
  96. 06[20:48] * Alvis politely removes himself from her reach by jumping over the table quite swiftly, leaving the Mithra girl to crash.
  97. [20:48] <Harphe> "Are you all right, dear?"
  98. 06[20:48] * Alvis hides himself beside whoever happens to have been across the table from him.
  99. [20:49] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm, you are quite the popular one boy. No wonder i had that 'mistake' yesterday, hohoho!" Gelato chuckles to himself while holding his tummy. "Oh, what a chillingly delightful day."
  100. 06[20:49] * Rosette looks to the girl, immediately retrieving some first aid supplies from her pack, "Oh my, are you alright, little one?"
  101. 01[20:49] <@zoofman> This evokes a guffaw from both Saheed and the woman to his right. "Oh, please forrrgive my youngest wife, Lightningsday. She is quite silly."
  102. [20:50] <Rosette> "W-wife?" Rosette seems about ready to faint at that.
  103. 01[20:50] <@zoofman> Lightningsday gets up, rubbing her forhead. "No, I'm alrrright. And deserved that, I guess." (to clarify, this girl is about 18-19, not 'young girl' )
  104. 06[20:50] * Mitzi scratches her head. "W-wait a minute, you named her after a day of the week?"
  105. [20:51] <Harphe> "I imagine her parents did."
  106. [20:51] <Mitzi> "I can only hope her parents didn't give her that name."
  107. 01[20:51] <@zoofman> "Oh, that's a nickname," says Saheed. "Only I and my eight wives know the actual names." :3c
  108. 06[20:51] * Alvis peeks out from over Mitzi's shoulder and whispers something.
  109. [20:51] <Mitzi> "I...you're kidding."
  110. 06[20:51] * Harphe settles back with a yawn
  111. [20:52] <Gelato> "Well, that sounds romantinc, i must say, hmmhmm. Still, it's not costumary on Ivalice to have more than one wife. I surely wouldn't survive having more than mine, hohoho!"
  112. 06[20:52] * Mitzi looks over at the Mithra then turns back to whisper back to Alvis.
  113. 01[20:53] <@zoofman> Lightningsday then takes Alvis's seat at the table. "Hmph. crafty as always, I see, Alvis!" She puffs her cheeks in annoyance.
  114. [20:53] <Alvis> Alvis gets himself a sly grin as he whispers something back, then reaches to snatch up something to munch on since he had to abandon his plate.
  115. 06[20:53] * Syl_ is surprised that Saheed doesn't seem to mind the attention Alvis is getting.
  116. 06[20:54] * Mitzi blushes a deep crimson red and turns away.
  117. [20:55] <Harphe> "In any matter, what are our duties for today?"
  118. [20:55] <Rosette> "Indeed, what are we going to be doing?" Rosette seems most eager to change the topic.
  119. [20:55] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm we are going to leave for the snowstorm, no?"
  120. 01[20:56] <@zoofman> Saheed just continues to laugh for a bit. "Oh my, this is terribly fun, howeverrr, unfortioantely. I also have business to discuss. I spoke with Commander Zeid this morning, matter-of-fact, and his desirrre was today you would travel through the woods, reach the storm's barrier itself, and establish a teleportion device there. As a foothold for furtherrr traveling."
  121. [20:57] <Syl_> "That shouldn't be too difficult. Have any scouts reported anything?"
  122. [20:57] <Syl_> "...or are -we- the scouts?"
  123. 01[20:58] <@zoofman> "He estimates that it's a few miles off from herrre, but nothing too much forrr a day's travel. And you are a wise one, Syl, you arrre indeed the scouts!"
  124. [20:58] <Mitzi> "...I think that makes us the scouts." Mitzi mumbles while poking at her food.
  125. [20:58] <Mitzi> (damnit why am I slow)
  126. [20:59] <Gelato> "We are the first ones entering that forest, i have been told."
  127. [20:59] <Gelato> "Of course that means we are both the scouts and probably the meat shield, hohoho!"
  128. 01[21:00] <@zoofman> Lightningsday makes a concious effort to dart a hand after any food item Alvis tries to snatch up.
  129. [21:00] <Harphe> "Lovely."
  130. 06[21:00] * Syl_ exhales. "Anythin we should watch out for, then?"
  131. 01[21:01] <@zoofman> "Well, the good news is I doubt you'll rrrun into any beastmen! I mean it seems sorta obvious to me they don't like that snowstorrrm."
  132. [21:01] <Harphe> "True enough!"
  133. [21:01] <Syl_> "Perhaps we'll run into something magical, though."
  134. [21:01] <Harphe> "I shall keep them very warm if they do."
  135. 01[21:01] <@zoofman> "Maybe wild animals in the forrrest, if that?"
  136. [21:01] <Gelato> "Can't say the same about other monsters though."
  137. 06[21:01] * Harphe snaps her fingers and conjures up a fireball.
  138. [21:01] <Rosette> "Mm yes, they've hardly been seen here at all lately," she comments, sounding more worried that the situation seemed to warrant.
  139. 06[21:02] * Alvis gets locked in a battle of fakeouts and will and meat against Lightningsday quickly
  140. [21:03] <Mitzi> "And once we set up the teleportation device, is there any way to tell if using it will be safe? Monsters could surround it while we're gone, and I didn't see any way of securing it against that."
  141. [21:04] <Gelato> "Well, we are pretty much on our own. I must say that the woman i talked to gave me quite the COLD shoulder, hmmhmm."
  142. [21:05] <Harphe> "..."
  143. 01[21:05] <@zoofman> "A question I asked Solomen, the head enginerrr myself! It appearrrs he's planned to have a little foothold established at the points, guarded and such. Many of the other men-of-arms and magisterrrs around The Bastion arrre here for that task, it seems."
  144. [21:06] <Mitzi> "Well, there we go then. Someone does have a shittier job than us."
  145. 01[21:06] <@zoofman> "Also, my wives have preparrred some rations for you to take durrring the hike, and if all goes well, therrre will be a feast awaiting you on yourrr return this evening! But for now, feel free to indulge yourselves while you're still warrrm! Can't imagine it'll be anything but a chilly hike!"
  146. [21:06] <Harphe> "No need to be cynical when we're being paid well."
  147. [21:07] <Gelato> "That being said, i don't believe we have to worry much, for i believe our group to be quite powerful i must say, hmmhmm. Yes, it shall be only a pleasant hike, although a tiring one."
  148. [21:07] <Mitzi> "I'm only kidding Harfey." Mitzi hops off her seat with a smile. "Beats being a guild lackey back home by far. So when do we leave?"
  149. 01[21:08] <@zoofman> He shrugs. "Whenever yourrr ready, or wheneverrr Syl drags you away from this table, I presume."
  150. [21:08] <Harphe> "I'm ready now."
  151. 06[21:08] * Harphe didn't eat much. Gotta watch her figure, after all~
  152. 06[21:08] * Mitzi turns to her taciturn commander. "Well then Syllly? Should we leave now?"
  153. [21:10] <Syl_> "....Sylly." She considers this nickname briefly, and seems displeased with it.
  154. [21:10] <Syl_> "I'm ready. The rest of you should finish your preparations."
  155. [21:10] <Syl_> "You may need to pack winter gear."
  156. [21:11] <Harphe> "This should be sufficient."
  157. 06[21:11] * Harphe holds up her fluffy prism cloak.
  158. [21:11] <Gelato> "Hohoho, no need for such things, this kind of weather is nothing compared to the hail we had back in my youth." Gelato laughs while knocking his new shoes together. "Now, forwards and onwards, hmm?"
  159. [21:12] <Rosette> "I'm prepared," Rosette rises befor enoting, "I believe I made you all some appropriate winter apparel yesterday?"
  160. [21:12] <Rosette> "Please use it."
  161. [21:12] <Rosette> "I don't want any of you losing fingers to frostbite, non?"
  162. 06[21:12] * Syl_ 's only addition to her gear is the sash Rosette made.
  163. 06[21:12] * Mitzi is already wrapped up in a warm winter coat and a scarf.
  164. [21:13] <Harphe> "I assure you, I will be able to provide adequate heat."
  165. [21:13] <Syl_> "Alvis?"
  166. [21:13] <Alvis> "I'll have to go get it, but yes," Alvis nods, focused on his battle of breakfast more than what's being discussed.
  167. [21:14] <Syl_> "Make haste in doing so. We leave in fifteen minutes."
  168. 06[21:14] * Gelato gives Alvis a disapproving look. "Hmm, didn't you finish eating that boy? You are quite sloppy at eating."
  169. [21:14] <Syl_> "If you're not ready by then, we begin the mission without you."
  170. 01[21:14] <@zoofman> As breakfast concludes, the woman in blue, who most of you have by now guessed must be Watersday, hands each of you a little parcel of food. Except for Alvis, Lightningsday delivers his. Along with a peck on the cheek. "Have a fun daaaay~" she says as she runs back upstairs laughing.
  171. [21:15] <Alvis> "I'll be fine, you know--" a visible shiver goes through him at the kiss, and it takes him a little while to unfreeze from it.
  172. [21:16] <Harphe> "Popular, are we?"
  173. 06[21:17] * Mitzi grabs a bit of fruit and holds it out in her hand for the wtfbird to eat. "Eat up Trilloby, we're going to be out adventuring for the day."
  174. 06[21:17] * Syl_ exchanges wtf-gazes with the bird, feeling a particular kinship with it.
  175. [21:17] <Alvis> "...Something like that," Alvis grumbles a little and heads upstairs to go collect his stuff.
  176. [21:17] <Syl_> The stares leave her feeling somewhat personally enriched, but little more.
  177. 01[21:17] <@zoofman> Trilloby is currently giving THE LOOK toward the staircase. But eats the fruits when prompted to.
  178. [21:18] <Syl_> "He always seems worried about something."
  179. [21:18] <Harphe> "Who does?"
  180. [21:18] <Syl_> "The bird."
  181. 01[21:18] <@zoofman> chirp :v
  182. [21:18] <Syl_> "Either that, or it's judging us."
  183. [21:19] <Gelato> "What are both of you talking about. It's a bird."
  184. [21:19] <Syl_> "I don't think his conclusion is a favorable one."
  185. [21:19] <Mitzi> "I think he's judging Mr. Archcreep over there most of all." Mitzi doesn't feel she needs to physically point for everyone to know who she's referring to.
  186. [21:20] <Harphe> "It's a bird."
  187. [21:20] <Harphe> "A BIRD."
  188. [21:20] <Harphe> "You're projecting, my dear."
  189. [21:20] <Mitzi> "H-hey, don't say that about Trilloby."
  190. [21:20] <Harphe> "I'm fairly certain he is, indeed, a bird."
  191. [21:20] <Harphe> (brb, need fods)
  192. 01[21:21] <@zoofman> (ready to move onto the forest?)
  193. [21:21] <Syl_> "He is a simple, unassuming bird, of course. Mostly without consequence."
  194. [21:21] <Syl_> "Which is to say, he may end up being quite vital to us."
  195. [21:21] <Gelato> "Well i never!" He hmphs and leaves the vicinity.
  196. [21:21] <Syl_> "Something to ponder."
  197. 06[21:21] * Syl_ gets up and walks to the edge of camp.
  198. 01[21:21] <@zoofman> chirp chirp :v
  199. [21:22] <Mitzi> "And you're just a harf." Mitzi leaves as well. No idea what that actually means.
  200. [21:22] <Harphe> "What?"
  201. 06[21:22] * Alvis returns with warm clothes on, appropriately in time. He looks a little different all bundled up, admittedly.
  202. 01[21:23] <@zoofman> Anyhow, a little later that morning, you find yourselves standing at the teleporter set up the day before, and in front of the forest entrance. Outside of your own chatter, it's quiet aside from a low breeze in the wind, ruffling of branches.
  203. 06[21:23] * Syl_ seems ready to venture out into the cold in her normal, albeit heavy clothing.
  204. [21:24] <Gelato> "Hmmph, i must say, i am almost sweating out here." Gelato says as he finishes packing the supplies up.
  205. 01[21:24] <@zoofman> From the outside, you can tell there is no beaten path. This is a forest left undisturbed by civilization.
  206. 01[21:26] <@zoofman> However, dead northwest, as Harphe's compass could tell any of you, lies your destination, the snowstorm itself.
  207. 03[21:26] * castfromhp_ (nnscript@sux-A544B97D.austin.res.rr.com) has joined #crystalcrusade
  208. [21:26] <Alvis> "Seems a nice, healthy walk~"
  209. 02[21:26] * Mitzi (nnscript@sux-A544B97D.austin.res.rr.com) Quit (NickServ (GHOST command used by castfromhp_))
  210. 03[21:26] * castfromhp_ is now known as Mitzi
  211. 06[21:27] * Syl_ gazes into the storm, as if confirming something.
  212. [21:27] <Rosette> "Indeed, but don't be afraid to speak up if you get tired or feel ill."
  213. [21:27] <Syl_> 2d6+3
  214. [21:27] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, 2d6+3: 11 [2d6=4,4]
  215. 01[21:54] <@zoofman> BLUH BLUH SOMETIME LATER THAT DAY.
  216. 01[21:56] <@zoofman> The forest, much as you entered, is quiet. Not to say you don't see signs of life. The occasional squirrel, small herd of deer, a rabbit here and there. At one point you see a pack of wolves eyeing you in the distance, but they just watch for a bit before heading their own way.
  217. [21:57] <Gelato> "Hmm, too quiet here. I must say, this is a chilly reception from the wildlife."
  218. [21:57] <Harphe> "Better that than their deciding we look like lunch."
  219. [21:58] <Rosette> "Mm, I doubt such critters feed on man. They fear us more, non?"
  220. 01[21:58] <@zoofman> Awareness checks, please, because I don't think a single one of you has a point in survival. D:
  221. [21:59] <Rosette> 2d6+5
  222. [21:59] <DiceMaid-9001> Rosette, 2d6+5: 14 [2d6=3,6]
  223. [21:59] <Mitzi> (I think someone has survival...?)
  224. [21:59] <Mitzi> 2d6+5 anyway
  225. [21:59] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, anyway: 10 [2d6=2,3]
  226. 01[21:59] <@zoofman> (Ride did.)
  227. 01[21:59] <@zoofman> (oh as does Gelato :B)
  228. [21:59] <Mitzi> (Gelato has survival 5)
  229. 01[21:59] <@zoofman> Gelato, make a survival one
  230. [22:00] <Gelato> 2d6+5
  231. [22:00] <DiceMaid-9001> Gelato, 2d6+5: 13 [2d6=5,3]
  232. 01[22:01] <@zoofman> You eventually reach a clearing where you find a felled tree.
  233. [22:01] <Alvis> 2d6+5 I do not have Survival, so Awareness
  234. [22:01] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, I do not have Survival, so Awareness: 13 [2d6=2,6]
  235. [22:03] <Syl_> 2d6+2 damn this lack of depth perception
  236. [22:03] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, damn this lack of depth perception: 8 [2d6=2,4]
  237. 01[22:03] <@zoofman> Syl is deep in meditation about BIRDS, apparantly.
  238. [22:04] <Harphe> 2d6+4
  239. [22:04] <DiceMaid-9001> Harphe, 2d6+4: 10 [2d6=3,3]
  240. [22:04] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm, that tree did not fell by natural means i must say."
  241. [22:04] <Gelato> "Something must have downed it, quite a large critter!"
  242. [22:04] <Alvis> "Cool, I was starting to worry we were all alone out here."
  243. [22:05] <Harphe> "Why would that be a worry?"
  244. [22:05] <Mitzi> "I'd rather be alone if this thing is part of the answer to why there are no beastmen out here."
  245. [22:05] <Rosette> "I'm not sure how welcome this sight should be. On guard, everyone."
  246. 01[22:06] <@zoofman> Everyone but Syl notices a few deep tracks in the ground from this felled tree, to another nearby one...where they abruptly end.
  247. 06[22:06] * Alvis keeps on his toes
  248. 06[22:06] * Mitzi leans over to look at Harphe's compass, hoping the way they have to go is opposite from where the tracks are leading.
  249. 06[22:07] * Gelato is a bit more wary of whatever is ahead. Those tracks are quite worrying!
  250. 01[22:07] <@zoofman> The tracks lead southeast.
  251. [22:08] <Mitzi> Yup, no problem here. "Good news everyone." Mitzi looks up. "We don't have to go that way!"
  252. [22:08] <Syl_> "....
  253. [22:08] <Syl_> "
  254. 06[22:09] * Syl_ checks what is dripping on her shoulder.
  255. [22:09] <Gelato> "So are we supposed to go Northwest or...?"
  256. 01[22:09] <@zoofman> It's a thick, clearl liquid. Viscious to the touch.
  257. [22:09] <Rosette> "Mm, perhaps our commander would see it wise to investigat anyway?"
  258. [22:10] <Harphe> "More importantly, I believe that while the creature headed in a different direction, it is still close."
  259. [22:10] <Harphe> "Problematic."
  260. [22:10] <Gelato> "It might be closer than we imagine too, hmm."
  261. [22:10] <Rosette> "Mm, well, I suppose we should simply be cautious, non?"
  262. [22:11] <Syl_> "Try above us."
  263. 06[22:11] * Syl_ looks up.
  264. [22:11] <Gelato> "Oh, of course."
  265. [22:11] <Mitzi> "Uhhh..." Mitzi looks up.
  266. 06[22:11] * Rosette looks up, curious.
  267. 06[22:12] * Harphe looks up. Funny, isn't it, how adventurers usually don't?
  268. 01[22:12] <@zoofman> About 5 feet above you a large, drooling head of a bear, it begins to growl, revealing several rows of razor sharp teeth. You then realize this isn't a bear, because it has eight legs, each ending in a razor sharp bear paw, and is suspended by an icy, threaded web. Oh, and there's 3 of them.
  269. [22:13] <Harphe> "...."
  270. [22:13] <Alvis> "Oh, don't they look friendly."
  271. [22:13] <Harphe> "What in the world?"
  272. [22:13] <Harphe> "KILL IT WITH FIRE."
  273. [22:13] <Mitzi> "You don't say!" Mitzi recoils and starts backing up.
  274. 01[22:13] <@zoofman> spider bears.
  275. [22:13] <Harphe> (spider bears, do anything that spider bears can)
  276. [22:14] <Harphe> (spins icy webs, any size, traps adventurers, just like fliiiies)
  277. [22:14] <Rosette> "Mother Altana, what are these things?!"
  278. [22:14] <Harphe> "Trouble."
  279. 01[22:14] <@zoofman> (I'd link a song for combat but I cannot think of an appropriate one for a duel with spider bears. Anyway, DEX's)
  280. [22:14] <Gelato> "Well that is fucking great."
  281. [22:14] <Rosette> "Everyone, en garde! We've abominations to return to the abyss!"
  282. [22:14] <Mitzi> "What in the farplane is happening with that snowstorm? Someone's sick science project out here?"
  283. [22:14] <Rosette> (3 DEX)
  284. [22:14] <Syl_> (12)
  285. [22:14] <Mitzi> (3 DEX)
  286. [22:15] <Harphe> 6 dex
  287. [22:15] <Gelato> (2 dex)
  288. [22:15] <Alvis> (14 DEX )
  289. [22:15] <Alvis> (er, 16)
  290. 03[22:15] * zoofman changes topic to 'Alvis > Syl > Harphe > Mitzi > Rosette > Gelato > BEARS'
  291. [22:15] <Gelato> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxIwf0sBj6E a fitting theme then
  292. 01[22:17] <@zoofman> The ferious creatures descend to your level with thundering slams! They roar as they tample toward you, tooth and nail prepared for shreading!
  293. 01[22:17] <@zoofman> Alvis!
  294. 01[22:17] <@zoofman> (ferocious, even)
  295. [22:18] <Alvis> "They look... delicious!" Alvis licks his lips a little and bounds forward to meet the first one with FIST
  296. [22:18] <Alvis> 2d6+6 initial accuracy roll
  297. [22:18] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, initial accuracy roll: 16 [2d6=4,6]
  298. [22:18] <Harphe> "They wait WHAT."
  299. 01[22:18] <@zoofman> hits
  300. [22:19] <Alvis> (Keeping ; 10+18=28 damage, I guess)
  301. [22:19] <Mitzi> "Y-you're insane!"
  302. 01[22:19] <@zoofman> Alvis punches a spider bear!
  303. 06[22:19] * Alvis dives in claw-first at one of the bears, quite possibly insane yes.
  304. [22:19] <Syl_> "And trying to survive. Defend yourselves."
  305. 01[22:19] <@zoofman> Syl's turn!
  306. 06[22:20] * Syl_ charges in to meet Alvis, executing a pincer attack from the draw.
  307. 06[22:20] * Mitzi attempts to compose herself. "...Understood Syll- er, commander."
  308. [22:20] <Syl_> 2d6+6 INITIAL THREE STRIKES OF PROOF
  309. [22:20] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, INITIAL THREE STRIKES OF PROOF: 18 [2d6=6,6]
  310. 01[22:20] <@zoofman> D: crit!
  311. [22:20] <Harphe> :D
  312. [22:20] <Syl_> 72 damage.
  313. 01[22:21] <@zoofman> Syl delivers a decisive blow, severing one of the spider bear's legs!
  314. [22:21] <Syl_> One, two, three, faster than the eye can see.
  315. 01[22:21] <@zoofman> It does not look pleased.
  316. 01[22:21] <@zoofman> Harphe is up!
  317. [22:22] <Harphe> Harphe manages to produce a massive greatsword from the crystal mounted on her glove and begins singing. Crimson Seal! Temper!
  318. 06[22:22] * Mitzi slowly manuveurs to a more defensible spot and begins to prepare a spell, ink seeping from her pen down into the ground around her. (starting Quick)
  319. [22:22] <Harphe> All damage she inflicts with her weapon is increased by two stages!
  320. 01[22:23] <@zoofman> Rosette!
  321. [22:23] <Rosette> "Foul creatures, leave this soil!" Rosette begins to chant as her hand glows a radiant whit.
  322. [22:24] <Rosette> (Preparing Dia.)
  323. 01[22:24] <@zoofman> Gelato!
  324. 06[22:25] * Gelato starts chanting ancient arcane words, preparing himself to freeze one of the bears with Blizzara when he finishes casting!
  325. 01[22:26] <@zoofman> The bear that lost an appendage...his eyes go wild with rage. It's as if he's gone berserk! He lashes out at both his assailents!
  326. 01[22:26] <@zoofman> 2#2d6+5;1d6 Syl and Alvis, better of two
  327. 03[22:26] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, 2#2d6+5: 12 [2d6=4,3], 13 [2d6=4,4]; Syl and Alvis, better of two: 1 [1d6=1]
  328. [22:26] <Harphe> (you mean bearserk)
  329. 01[22:27] <@zoofman> 12 and 13, respectively.
  330. 06[22:27] * Syl_ attempts to parry, but the spiderbear tears a gash into her arm.
  331. 01[22:28] <@zoofman> 43 damage to Syl.
  332. [22:28] <Syl_> ( man fuck that, then.)
  333. 06[22:28] * Alvis braces himself against the attack as well as he can, but he is a little squishy D:
  334. 01[22:28] <@zoofman> The other two bears trample forward, knocking trees down in their path, toward Harphe and Mitzi!
  335. 06[22:28] * Syl_ engages a sixth sense, and weaves out of the way before the spiderbear's claws can dig deeper.
  336. [22:29] <Syl_> (Third Eye. )
  337. 01[22:29] <@zoofman> 2#2d6+5;1d6 Harphe and Mitzi, better of two
  338. 03[22:29] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, 2#2d6+5: 13 [2d6=4,4], 16 [2d6=6,5]; Harphe and Mitzi, better of two: 2 [1d6=2]
  339. 01[22:29] <@zoofman> 13 and 16!
  340. [22:29] <Harphe> ow, hits
  341. [22:29] <Mitzi> (hits)
  342. 01[22:29] <@zoofman> (also courtesy of DL, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYlLoC9mBXk is your music )

  344. 01[22:30] <@zoofman> back to Alvis
  345. [22:30] <Harphe> 43/78 damage
  346. 06[22:32] * Alvis braces himself from the hit and reacts by drawing his cloak around himself tight... and accompanying it comes a roar almost like that of a bearspider, or something.
  347. [22:32] <Alvis> 2d6+3 Disguise check for Master of Disguise :3c
  348. [22:32] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, Disguise check for Master of Disguise :3c: 8 [2d6=1,4]
  349. [22:32] <Alvis> (dicemaid :/)
  350. [22:33] <Mitzi> (if it's a skill roll, you can reroll it with blessed existence once per session I believe)
  351. [22:33] <Alvis> (Either way, they need to beat that on an INT check or treat Alvis as an ally)
  352. 01[22:33] <@zoofman> 2d6
  353. 03[22:33] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, 2d6: 7 [2d6=4,3]
  354. [22:33] <Syl_> (ahahahaha)
  355. 01[22:33] <@zoofman> Alvis outsmarted spider bears.
  356. 01[22:33] <@zoofman> good job.
  357. [22:33] <Alvis> (Welp)
  358. 01[22:33] <@zoofman> Syl!
  359. 06[22:33] * Alvis slips in behind their pack, suddenly no longer drawing their ire, lining up his next strike
  360. [22:34] <Syl_> "Enough."
  361. 06[22:34] * Syl_ stands ready, blade wailing. (Charging Soul Break.)
  362. 02[22:34] * DamienLunas (DamienLuna@sux-27BF3D1.hsd1.wa.comcast.net) Quit (Connection reset by peer)
  363. 01[22:34] <@zoofman> Harphe!
  364. [22:35] <Harphe> Harphe swings the sword behind her as she charges, smashing it into one of the BEARS via sheer momentum!
  365. 03[22:35] * DamienLunas (DamienLuna@sux-27BF3D1.hsd1.wa.comcast.net) has joined #crystalcrusade
  366. [22:35] <Harphe> 2d6+6
  367. [22:35] <DiceMaid-9001> Harphe, 2d6+6: 18 [2d6=6,6]
  368. 01[22:35] <@zoofman> hory shit
  369. [22:35] <Harphe> C-C-CRITICAL HIT
  370. [22:35] <Harphe> too bad that wasn't a limit :c
  371. [22:35] <Harphe> 68 damage, in any case
  372. 01[22:35] <@zoofman> Mitzi!
  373. 06[22:35] * Mitzi draws her arm up ineffectually and cries out as the claws slash into her. A second later, however, and her spell completes (hasted, 2 standard actions a turn). She whirls her cloak to the side and glowing orange runes flash into existence all over her clothing. (Magic Shield)
  374. [22:36] <Mitzi> Then she strikes at the spider bear
  375. [22:36] <Mitzi> 2d6+5
  376. [22:36] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, 2d6+5: 11 [2d6=1,5]
  377. 01[22:36] <@zoofman> hit
  378. [22:36] <Mitzi> 40 damage
  379. 01[22:36] <@zoofman> Rosette!

  382. [22:38] <DiceMaid-9001> Rosette, damage to a spider: 40 [2d6=1,1]
  383. [22:38] <Rosette> Rosette eyes her wounded allies with a frown, beginning a prayer in Elvaan to allieve their wounds.
  384. [22:38] <Rosette> "Hold on, my friends. Aid is coming!"
  385. [22:38] <Gelato> "Drifting breeze, come down with fury! Blizzara!" Suddenly a stala1,1gmite forms under the less ravaged BEAR, impaling it from the underside! He then starts chanting a different spell, this time trying to hit the BEAR mitzi just slashed with Stone.
  386. 01[22:38] <@zoofman> Under the barrage of attacks, all twenty eyes of the spider bear, now missing a few limbs, go dark, and with a death howl it falls to the ground.
  387. [22:38] <Gelato> 2d6+96 damage
  388. [22:38] <DiceMaid-9001> Gelato, damage: 101 [2d6=4,1]
  389. 01[22:39] <@zoofman> ouch.
  390. 01[22:39] <@zoofman> That's another bearzerk bear. It lashes out at Syl and Gelato!
  391. 01[22:39] <@zoofman> 3d6+5 maybe it's easier to figure out this way, Syl and Gelato
  392. 03[22:39] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, maybe it's easier to figure out this way, Syl and Gelato: 17 [3d6=6,3,3]
  393. 01[22:40] <@zoofman> 3d6+5 maybe it's easier to figure out this way, rather, this one is Gelato
  394. 03[22:40] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, maybe it's easier to figure out this way, rather, this one is Gelato: 10 [3d6=1,1,3]
  395. 01[22:40] <@zoofman> Syl takes 47 damage, does 9 meet Gelato's evasion?
  396. [22:40] <Gelato> (Eva is 6)
  397. 01[22:41] <@zoofman> Gelato takes 39 damage.
  398. [22:41] <Syl_> And there goes the gash. She must seriously be out of practice.
  399. 01[22:41] <@zoofman> The uninjured bear rears its head back and roars to the sky as its comrad falls! It then blasts a wave of frozen web at the offending targets!
  400. 06[22:41] * Gelato gets mauled, but still keeps his spellchanting!
  401. 01[22:42] <@zoofman> 2d6+5 to everyone minus brother bear Alvis
  402. 03[22:42] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, to everyone minus brother bear Alvis: 17 [2d6=6,6]
  403. 01[22:42] <@zoofman> (oshi)
  404. [22:42] <Mitzi> (well fuck nuggets, at least this seems to be a cold element attack)
  405. [22:42] <Harphe> (ohshi indeed)
  406. 01[22:42] <@zoofman> 45 ice damage
  407. [22:43] <Rosette> (Ouch)
  408. 01[22:43] <@zoofman> Back to Alvis bear
  409. [22:43] <Harphe> 8/78
  410. [22:43] <Rosette> Okay
  411. 06[22:43] * Mitzi is relatively unscathed due to a combination of her winter clothing and magic runes.
  412. [22:43] <Rosette> Who is alive right now?
  413. [22:43] <Harphe> I'm alive~
  414. [22:43] <Rosette> (^OOC)
  415. 06[22:43] * Alvis rounds on the bear who used the web and ambushes him with fists
  416. [22:44] <Alvis> 2d6+6 ; blowing cover as far as that spiderbear is concerned
  417. [22:44] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, 2d6+6: 11 [2d6=1,4]

  420. [22:44] <Alvis> (>:<)
  421. 01[22:45] <@zoofman> it hits anyway
  422. [22:45] <Alvis> (I don't know if that hits; but if it did, damage is 23)
  423. 01[22:45] <@zoofman> they are bears, they are not very mobile :c
  424. 01[22:45] <@zoofman> Bop! The bear is confused why its brethren hit it. :c
  425. 01[22:46] <@zoofman> Syl's turn!
  426. 06[22:46] * Syl_ slashes through a nearby bear. The blade passes through but draws no blood.
  427. [22:46] <Syl_> Motes of some arcane energy leave the bear, ensuring that it -will- fear magic.
  428. [22:46] <Syl_> ( Elemental resistance reduced one step. )
  429. 06[22:46] * Gelato is immune to frost, so he gives no fucks.
  430. 01[22:47] <@zoofman> Harphe's turn!
  431. [22:47] <Syl_> ( That was a slow action. )

  436. 01[22:47] <@zoofman> (oh, I'm sorry :B)
  437. [22:47] <Harphe> fuck you dicemaid ;_;
  438. [22:47] <Harphe> oh

  442. [22:47] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, I CAST SWORD, I GUESS: 15 [2d6=4,5]
  443. 01[22:47] <@zoofman> (you both did roll your stuff)
  444. [22:47] <Harphe> well I will just reroll that when it comes to be my turn :B
  445. [22:48] <Harphe> 2d6 shits and giggles check
  446. [22:48] <DiceMaid-9001> Harphe, shits and giggles check: 5 [2d6=3,2]

  448. [22:48] <Harphe> anyway
  449. [22:48] <Harphe> 32 damage
  450. 01[22:48] <@zoofman> Mitzi's turn
  451. 01[22:48] <@zoofman> The rampaging bear isn't looking too hot.
  452. 06[22:48] * Mitzi brushes off the cold and dashes up to a bear, delivering two quick strikes.
  453. [22:48] <Mitzi> 2#2d6+5
  454. [22:48] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, 2#2d6+5: 13 [2d6=3,5], 11 [2d6=2,4]
  455. 01[22:49] <@zoofman> both hit
  456. [22:49] <Mitzi> 42 and 40 damage
  457. 01[22:49] <@zoofman> Mitzi's ink blade does the finishing touches, and much like before, all 20 spier bear eyes fade as it collaspes.
  458. 01[22:49] <@zoofman> Rosette's turn
  459. [22:49] <Syl_> ( Apparently there's an in-between state between weakness and normal damage )
  460. 01[22:49] <@zoofman> (yup, 50% more, vurnable)
  461. [22:50] <Syl_> ( This makes Soul Break slightly less awesome than I had hoped. )
  462. 01[22:50] <@zoofman> (that still increases all magical damage by 50% though.)
  463. [22:51] <Rosette> (Okaaay, healing Harphe, then charging another heal.)
  464. [22:51] <Rosette> 2d6+57 Healing
  465. [22:51] <DiceMaid-9001> Rosette, Healing: 68 [2d6=6,5]
  466. [22:52] <Rosette> (Then charging another heal.)
  467. 01[22:52] <@zoofman> Gelato's turn.
  468. [22:52] <Harphe> (76/78)
  469. [22:52] <Gelato> A bigass rock falls on top of the bear! "Blessing of Earth, destroy all impure!"
  470. [22:52] <Gelato> 2d6+48 damage
  471. [22:52] <DiceMaid-9001> Gelato, damage: 50 [2d6=1,1]
  472. [22:52] <Gelato> (ffffucking dicemaid)
  473. 06[22:52] * Rosette rushes over to Harphe's side, enduring the full brunt of the spider's icy magics with complete disregard for her own health. Once her ally is healed, she promptly begins to chant yet another prayer of healing.
  474. 01[22:53] <@zoofman> The bear shrugs the blow off, then eyes you all with ire.
  475. [22:53] <Harphe> "My thanks, Sister!"
  476. 01[22:53] <@zoofman> 1d6
  477. 03[22:53] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, 1d6: 4 [1d6=4]
  478. 01[22:53] <@zoofman> it charges Mitzi!
  479. 01[22:53] <@zoofman> 3d6+5
  480. [22:53] <Gelato> 2d6+5 wait a minute!
  481. 03[22:53] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, 3d6+5: 14 [3d6=2,6,1]
  482. [22:53] <DiceMaid-9001> Gelato, wait a minute!: 17 [2d6=6,6]
  483. [22:53] <Gelato> (oh lawd)
  484. 01[22:53] <@zoofman> (hm?)
  485. 03[22:53] <Gelato> (it was my attack, zoof, i didn't finished my turn)
  486. 01[22:53] <@zoofman> (oh I forgot, slow actions :B)
  487. 01[22:53] <@zoofman> (my bad)
  488. 01[22:53] <@zoofman> (go ahead)
  489. [22:54] <Mitzi> (does Gelato limit break? :O)
  490. 01[22:54] <@zoofman> (I...think he just did.)
  491. [22:54] <Gelato> (nope, still got 51 HP)
  492. 01[22:54] <@zoofman> (oh D: well)
  493. [22:54] <Gelato> (since i ignored the area attack and got only damaged once, still, it's a crit)
  494. [22:55] <Gelato> (14 damage btw)
  495. [22:57] <Gelato> (RETCON AS AUTOHITTING THE BEAR WITH BLIZZARD)
  496. [22:57] <Gelato> 2d6+64
  497. [22:57] <DiceMaid-9001> Gelato, 2d6+64: 69 [2d6=3,2]
  498. 01[22:57] <@zoofman> Blam.
  499. 01[22:58] <@zoofman> The bear isn't looking too hot after that two for one punch...
  500. 01[22:58] <@zoofman> However, in retrospec, that guy who punched him wasn't a spider bear, but a TRAITOR and LIAR. He turns around and lashes at Alvis!
  501. 01[22:58] <@zoofman> 3d6+5
  502. 03[22:58] <DiceMaid-9001> zoofman, 3d6+5: 17 [3d6=6,3,3]
  503. [22:58] <Mitzi> (so didn't charge at Mitzi?)
  504. 01[22:58] <@zoofman> (nope :v)
  505. 01[22:59] <@zoofman> 44 damage
  506. 01[22:59] <@zoofman> and then back to Alvis
  507. [23:00] <Alvis> Alvis activates Counterstrike >:<
  508. [23:00] <Alvis> 2d6 initial roll
  509. [23:00] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, initial roll: 7 [2d6=1,6]
  510. [23:00] <Alvis> 1d6+6+6 rerolling the 1
  511. [23:00] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, rerolling the 1: 15 [1d6=3]
  512. 01[23:00] <@zoofman> hits
  513. [23:00] <Alvis> 9+18=27 damage on the counter
  514. [23:01] <Alvis> 2d6 initial roll for actual attack
  515. [23:01] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, initial roll for actual attack: 5 [2d6=1,4]
  516. [23:01] <Alvis> 1d6+4+6 you know the drill
  517. [23:01] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, you know the drill: 12 [1d6=2]
  518. 01[23:01] <@zoofman> also hits
  519. [23:01] <Alvis> 6+18=24 etc etc
  520. 01[23:01] <@zoofman> Alvis's one-two punch leaves it on its last leg. literally.
  521. [23:01] <Alvis> Alvis takes the hit, and even if he looks about to crumble, starts pummeling the bearthing
  522. 01[23:02] <@zoofman> Syl's turn.
  523. [23:02] <Syl_> "Allow me to relieve you of your last limb."
  524. [23:02] <Syl_> 2d6+6 impromptu amputation
  525. [23:02] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, impromptu amputation: 14 [2d6=5,3]
  526. [23:02] <Syl_> 38 damage.
  527. 01[23:03] <@zoofman> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YCN-a0NsNk
  528. 01[23:03] <@zoofman> As the last bear passes on, the forest goes quiet again.
  529. 01[23:04] <@zoofman> You are able to retrieve the following spoils from the bears: 3 spider bear pelts, a pair of spiderbear claws, and 6 earth crystals.
  530. [23:04] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm well that was something i must say."
  531. 06[23:04] * Alvis is disappoint at no spiderbear meat D:
  532. 01[23:04] <@zoofman> of course there's spiderbear meat.
  533. [23:04] <Syl_> ( Put that in the party inventory? )
  534. 01[23:04] <@zoofman> there's literally 3 tons of it.
  535. 01[23:04] <@zoofman> (yup.)
  536. 06[23:05] * Alvis is happy about spiderbear meat! "I bet this'd taste great cooked..."
  537. 01[23:05] <@zoofman> And now, Mitzi, awareness check.
  538. [23:05] <Mitzi> "Okay I see why they brought in mages now." Mitzi winces as she adjusts her cloak and her runes flash out of existence.
  539. [23:05] <Mitzi> 2d6+5
  540. [23:05] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, 2d6+5: 9 [2d6=1,3]
  541. [23:05] <Mitzi> fuck that rerolling with blessed existence
  542. [23:05] <Mitzi> 2d6+5
  543. [23:05] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, 2d6+5: 15 [2d6=6,4]
  544. [23:06] <Alvis> (Does our whitemage have auto-heal out of battle? I cannot into remember)
  545. 06[23:06] * Rosette rounds up the pelts, "I might be able to make use of these."
  546. [23:06] <Rosette> (She does.)
  547. 06[23:06] * Rosette them promptly drops the pelts to violate everyone's personal space with magic and medice to heal every last wound on their body.
  548. [23:06] <Rosette> Every. Last. One.
  549. 06[23:07] * Alvis is bleeding a little but is still attempting to bag up some of the meat. As he does not have a blade, this is accomplished by extremely unrefined claws and--oh hello pretty medic sure you can pin me down and heal me :3
  550. 06[23:07] * Mitzi waves off Rosette's inevitable healing flurry to bend down and examine the ground. Brushing some of the grass aside, there's some definite stone there.
  551. 06[23:07] * Harphe looks around as well.
  552. 06[23:07] * Syl_ sighs, and worries more about the coat than the wound. The latter would heal - the former would take some work to repair.
  553. [23:07] <Mitzi> "Hey hold on, there's something here."
  554. [23:07] <Syl_> "Status."
  555. 06[23:08] * Gelato is not plussed at all after having his body stitched back. "Very well, shall we go on our way or...?"
  556. [23:09] <Mitzi> Brush brush pluck pluck. Mitzi continues the clear the ground they fought on, whirling bits of grass and dirt about with magic, until it's apparent there was some sort of stone walkway here before.
  557. [23:09] <Alvis> "Huh?" Alvis looks up from carving up one of the delicious spiderbears.
  558. [23:09] <Harphe> "Ruins?"
  559. 06[23:09] * Harphe leans over Mitzi's shoulder. Hello, personal space. What are you?
  560. [23:10] <Gelato> "Oooh, well that is interesting."
  561. 01[23:10] <@zoofman> Under the foilage, Mitzi reveals..a cobblestone walkway. It's cracked and aged with time, but it's apparant this was a rode once. One direction leading southeast, the other northwest, toward the storm.
  562. [23:11] <Harphe> "Shall we, dears?"
  563. 06[23:11] * Rosette eyes the coat with a faint smile, "I can take care of that just fine in a bit."
  564. [23:11] <Rosette> "But for now," she glances to the path Syl uncovered, "adventure awaits!"
  565. 06[23:11] * Mitzi inches away from Harf to get some breathing room. "Well, it points where we're going."
  566. [23:11] <Syl_> "Odd that we'd lack information about this place, if it was once active enouh to warrant a road. Something's not right here."
  567. [23:12] <Alvis> "Huhn? We're on a road?" Alvis headtilts.
  568. [23:12] <Gelato> "Yes, however the presence of ruins indicates something quite... Amiss, i must say. Yes, it might lead us to the source of the disturbances."
  569. 06[23:12] * Mitzi gets up and brushes herself off. "If the beastmen built it, then there'd hardly be reason for us to know, right?"
  570. [23:13] <Syl_> "But there are no beastmen here. Not lately, anyway."
  571. [23:14] <Harphe> "An ancient civilization?"
  572. [23:14] <Mitzi> "No, which is why the road is in such disrepair, I'm guessing."
  573. [23:14] <Harphe> "Creatures beyond time and space?"
  574. [23:14] <Alvis> "More food."
  575. [23:15] <Harphe> "You shouldn't eat eldritch horrors, dear. They'll make you sick."
  576. 06[23:16] * Rosette frowns, pondering the implications of the area's abandonment
  577. [23:16] <Gelato> "Hmhmmm the Ancient Civilization theory actually makes sense, you know." He nods to Harphe. "In Ivalice there were many signs of those, who knows what arcane artifacts have they made?"
  578. [23:16] <Mitzi> "There is something -wrong- with those spider...bears. But they hardly qualify as eldritch."
  579. 06[23:17] * Alvis ends up starting to use the spiderbears' own claws to carve meat, ending up with a bagful of it to take back.
  580. 06[23:17] * Syl_ sighs, and cuts out a nice, wide section of spiderbear pelt, freeing it from the corpse.
  581. 06[23:17] * Harphe was going to examine the claws but WHELP NOT ANY MORE
  582. 06[23:18] * Mitzi picks up some of the crystals to examine.
  583. [23:18] <Syl_> She continues doing this for some time, carefully trying to carve out intact sections.
  584. 06[23:18] * Harphe stands back and lets everyone else do the dirty work.
  585. 06[23:19] * Rosette packs up several of the pelts to carry
  586. [23:19] <Gelato> "Well, are you finishing the gruesome recycling of our fallen enemies, dearies?"
  587. [23:20] <Syl_> "No reason to waste resources as we're taking a rest," she notes, freeing the last spiderbear pelt.
  588. [23:20] <Alvis> "It's called hunting~" Alvis sticks his tongue out, cleaning off his hand in the grass.
  589. [23:20] <Syl_> "Whenever the rest of you are ready."
  590. [23:20] <Syl_> The commander flicks the blood off her blade, scattering it in a clean arc, before sheathing the weapon.
  591. [23:20] <Gelato> "Hmm... It does make sense. And being mauled by mutant creatures makes my bones cranky..."
  592. [23:21] <Alvis> "Anyway, ready~" Alvis seems quite chipper after the fight.
  593. 06[23:22] * Harphe simply makes a motion and her weapon ceases to be. How convenient~
  594. [23:22] <Mitzi> "You think these are natural? If all the wildlife is like this on this continent, we're in for quite the adventure." Mitzi coughs. "Anyway, if it isn't natural, then maybe it has to do with the snowstorm?"
  595. [23:23] <Syl_> "I wouldn't be surprised if the two were related. Onward."
  596. [23:24] <Harphe> "In either case, they are what is here now."
  597. [23:24] <Syl_> "Tautologically sound."
  598. [23:25] <Gelato> "Well, no sense on colonizing a continent with such wildlife..." He shrugs while going onwards.
  599. 01[23:25] <@zoofman> The stone pathway leads true through the woods, it's a much easier route than walking through the completely unsoiled landscape.
  600. [23:25] <Mitzi> "All business, no silly. You don't live up to your name much." Mitzi starts down the road NW.
  601. [23:25] <Syl_> "I think you're confused."
  602. [23:26] <Rosette> "Well, I'd rather you all not freeze to death out here," she says with a concerned frown.
  603. 01[23:26] <@zoofman> Eventually, you get close enough to the storm that snow is all around you. A little at first, but it slowly begins to build up.
  604. [23:26] <Gelato> "Well, you do live for your name, Ditzy Mitzi, hohoho!"
  605. [23:26] <Syl_> "'Syl' does not mean silly."
  606. 06[23:27] * Alvis huddles up a little in his clothes, all cold.
  607. 06[23:27] * Harphe brrs and pulls her hood over her head. The silly hair ornament makes it look weird, though.
  608. 06[23:27] * Syl_ doesn't seem to be bothered by the cold at all, despite a lack of winter gear. How strange.
  609. 01[23:28] <@zoofman> Eventually, you reach an actual clearing. No trees, no tricks. You're surrounded by rather large mounds of sno-...awareness checks.
  610. 06[23:28] * Mitzi is relatively okay bundled up in her coat. It was designed for withstanding harsh cold even from magic anyway.
  611. [23:28] <Mitzi> 2d6+5
  612. [23:28] <Gelato> 2d6 oh boy
  613. [23:28] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, 2d6+5: 15 [2d6=4,6]
  614. [23:28] <DiceMaid-9001> Gelato, oh boy: 5 [2d6=3,2]
  615. [23:29] <Syl_> 2d6+2 depth perceeeeeeption
  616. [23:29] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, depth perceeeeeeption: 4 [2d6=1,1]
  617. [23:29] <Rosette> 2d6+5 oh goddess
  618. [23:29] <DiceMaid-9001> Rosette, oh goddess: 11 [2d6=3,3]
  619. [23:29] <Alvis> 2d6+5 This team has, like, all the awareness doesn't it
  620. [23:29] <DiceMaid-9001> Alvis, This team has, like, all the awareness doesn't it: 10 [2d6=1,4]
  621. [23:29] <Mitzi> (>1,1)
  622. 01[23:29] <@zoofman> well, Gelato, make a cryotology check.
  623. [23:29] <Harphe> 2d6+4
  624. [23:29] <DiceMaid-9001> Harphe, 2d6+4: 10 [2d6=1,5]
  625. 01[23:29] <@zoofman> OH GOD SNOW IN SYL'S EYE
  626. 01[23:29] <@zoofman> AAAAAH
  627. [23:30] <Gelato> 2d6+6 cryotology ftw!
  628. [23:30] <DiceMaid-9001> Gelato, cryotology ftw!: 14 [2d6=6,2]
  629. 01[23:31] <@zoofman> Rosette and Alvis get the feeling those mounds of snow look sorta familiar somehow.
  630. 01[23:31] <@zoofman> Gelato and Mitzi, on the other hand...
  631. 06[23:31] * Syl_ rubs the bit of offending snow out of her eye.
  632. [23:33] <Gelato> "Well, that is... Quite weird, hmm?" Gelato approaches the mound and tries to remove the snow away from what it's covering.
  633. 06[23:33] * Mitzi approaches the same mound and...enters it?
  634. [23:33] <Mitzi> "Hey guys I found something again."
  635. [23:34] <Gelato> "So... Did i."
  636. [23:34] <Harphe> "Oh?"
  637. 01[23:34] <@zoofman> Gelato, your brushing off of snow reveals wood beneath. And then another quick glance around...you're standing in a town square.
  638. [23:34] <Harphe> "Would you like my assistance?"
  639. 06[23:34] * Harphe conjures up yet another fireball.
  640. [23:35] <Alvis> "...Uh?" Alvis blinks curiously. "Is... what's going on I'm confused."
  641. 03[23:35] * Flaurentine is now known as Giantree
  642. 06[23:35] * Mitzi removes a glowing crystal from her coat pocket to light up her surroundings. Trilloby gives an appropriate reaction to what they see.
  643. [23:36] <Harphe> "I believe we have found more ruins, dear."
  644. 01[23:36] <@zoofman> Inside the passage way, you find a little entrance step made of stone. A step up to a wooden floor. It's dark, and the interior goes back a little bit to an opening on the right.
  645. [23:36] <Rosette> "Mmm, most fascinating, non?"
  646. [23:36] <Gelato> "Well, that is.. Interesting."
  647. [23:37] <Harphe> "some sort of igloo?"
  648. [23:37] <Mitzi> "Something like that, yeah."
  649. [23:37] <Harphe> "A very small one."
  650. [23:37] <Gelato> "An underground town, hmm?"
  651. 01[23:37] <@zoofman> This is no igloo, but a wooden house.
  652. [23:38] <Alvis> "Hmm." Alvis does not know of much to offer. Old ruins are not his strong point!
  653. [23:38] <Syl_> "Should we deploy the device?"
  654. 06[23:38] * Mitzi starts unpacking a larger crystal and device from her bag. "Maybe it'd be safer to set up the teleporter in one of these enclosures rather than out in the open.
  655. [23:38] <Mitzi> "
  656. [23:39] <Syl_> "Assuming it's fine-tuned enough to work that way, that would be wise."
  657. [23:39] <Rosette> "Oui, that sounds wise."
  658. 06[23:39] * Syl_ recalls the -last- time this happened.
  659. [23:39] <Gelato> "Better to look our surroundings as well, i say!" He enters the wooden house, looking at the interior of it.
  660. [23:40] <Harphe> "We wouldn't want to end up, say, halfway into a wall."
  661. 06[23:40] * Mitzi nods and begins setting up the crystal. She hesitates a bit before sighing and punching in the long string of zeros. "Damned nonsense 'code.'" She mutters.
  662. 06[23:40] * Alvis sets about to looking around with Gelato
  663. 06[23:41] * Harphe follows.
  664. 06[23:41] * Syl_ does the same, though she really should be leading.
  665. [23:41] <Harphe> "So, I don't believe we've properly been introduced. I'm Harphe Forlindel."
  666. 01[23:42] <@zoofman> The floor creeks with each step, long exposed to the cold and out of use. Down the hallway, the entrance on the right appears to have one had a sliding door at one point in time. It's a simple, one room house. With a little stone furnace, sleeping mats, a low table in the middle...very modest.
  667. 06[23:43] * Mitzi has probably chosen the table in the center to place the crystal on.
  668. [23:43] <Gelato> "It doesn't look much ancient to me, i must say!" He says to Alvis. "And it doesn't look like Beastman architecture as well."
  669. 01[23:43] <@zoofman> It looks as if whoever once lived here just...up and left one day.
  670. [23:43] <Alvis> "Well, you'd probably know this stuff better than me," Alvis shrugs
  671. [23:44] <Harphe> "Ah, sir Mithra...?"
  672. 01[23:44] <@zoofman> Mitzi has little trouble setting up the device, following some instructions Beard Beard left.
  673. [23:45] <Alvis> "Sir? Why're you calling me sir?" Alvis headtilts a little.
  674. 06[23:45] * Syl_ checks for signs of recent use.
  675. 06[23:45] * Gelato rolls eyes. "Oh of course."
  676. [23:46] <Harphe> "Well, I don't believe we've been introduced. Harphe. Harphe Forlindel."
  677. [23:46] <Syl_> "....excuse me."
  678. 06[23:46] * Syl_ walks out.
  679. [23:48] <Mitzi> "Well then." Mitzi stands up after making a few last tweaks. "We can go back any time, but I guess we should check the perimeter here." she heads out of the house toward the storm.
  680. [23:48] <Alvis> "Oh, uh... Alvis. ..." he feels like he should be adding a second name, but... well, maybe he just doesn't want to give it out or something?
  681. [23:48] <Harphe> "Pleasure to meet you."
  682. [23:48] <Gelato> "Hmm, Miss Harf, no? Do you have a theory on what made those ruins?"
  683. [23:50] <Harphe> "Harphe. And, ah, allow me to consider."
  684. [23:50] <Harphe> 2d6+2 lore (random-ass frozen villages in the middle of nowhere)
  685. [23:50] <DiceMaid-9001> Harphe, lore (random-ass frozen villages in the middle of nowhere): 8 [2d6=3,3]
  686. [23:52] <Syl_> Syl returns, with a concerned expression on her face.
  687. [23:52] <Syl_> "I have something to show all of you. Immediately."
  688. 01[23:52] <@zoofman> The architecture...feels eastern, like that of many hume immigrants to Bastok.
  689. 01[23:53] <@zoofman> the roofs of the buildings, on closer examination, are cresent sloped, the little stone step for taking off your shoes.
  690. [23:54] <Syl_> "Is the device ready?"
  691. [23:54] <Mitzi> Mitzi returns from outside as well. Yup sure is a snowstorm. "Yeah. Are we heading back already? We've not had a good look around."
  692. [23:54] <Alvis> "...Huhn?" Alvis headtilts at Syl's return. "What's up?"
  693. [23:55] <Syl_> "But that's exactly what we're going to do. Follow me, quickly."
  694. 06[23:55] * Syl_ walks out, further into the village.
  695. 06[23:56] * Mitzi quickly follows, curious at the apparent urgency.
  696. 01[23:56] <@zoofman> to further exemplify this cultural building style, Syl leads you to a path of red, battered Torii gates. They lead down a path a bit away from this village frozen in time.
  697. [23:56] <Gelato> "Oh, what is the hurry for, such hasty kids..." Gelato shrugs while following Syl. "Miss Harf, we shall solve this mystery later i believe. Let us go."
  698. [23:56] <Syl_> Syl leads the others to an old, battered Torri gate that still retains a bit of its crimson hue.
  699. [23:57] <Syl_> *Torii
  700. [23:57] <Harphe> "It seems to be a sort of eastern thing."
  701. [23:57] <Syl_> She seems to be looking around for something, and continues through.
  702. 02[23:57] * Alvis (464dd8bc@sux-775C1CDB.mibbit.com) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
  703. [23:58] <Syl_> The path leads to more of the same type of gate.
  704. 06[23:58] * Mitzi gazes at the gates. "Is this...hume construction? I thought we were the first to explore this continent."
  705. [23:58] <Syl_> "Concerning."
  706. [23:58] <Harphe> "It's certainly hume-like."
  707. [23:59] <Rosette> "First known to," she corrects.
  708. [23:59] <Syl_> "Who were they, though?"
  709. 01[23:59] <@zoofman> The path leads on for a bit, more and more torii gates. Until you reach a shrine.
  710. [23:59] <Gelato> "Yes, you are right on that one. This might be an ancient settlement."
  711. 06[23:59] * Syl_ silently whispers a question, seemingly directed at no one in particular.
  712. [23:59] <Gelato> "But... It doesn't show much signs of aging, which is really intriguing, hmm?"
  713. 06[23:59] * Mitzi looks for obvious structural damage or decay from the elements.
  714. Session Time: Tue Dec 13 00:00:00 2011
  715. [00:00] <Harphe> "Perhaps the ice and cold preserved things."
  716. 06[00:00] * Syl_ looks over the shrine, trying to discern what it is, for starters.

  721. 01[00:01] <@zoofman> Gelato's understanding of such things leads him to believe that yes, this place has been preserved fairly well by the weather.
  722. [00:02] <Syl_> 2d6+3 Perhaps there's something that they would know....
  723. [00:02] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, Perhaps there's something that they would know....: 6 [2d6=2,1]
  724. 01[00:02] <@zoofman> Mitzi has heard of sorcery of the sort, to freeze a spot of land in a packet of time, but this is not that act.

  730. [00:04] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm, yes you are right on that one, Lady Harf."
  731. [00:04] <Harphe> "Harphe."
  732. 06[00:04] * Mitzi shrugs and walks straight up into the shrine. Any signs of how long ago people were last here?
  733. 01[00:06] <@zoofman> You know of no records of northern explorers, Rosette.
  734. 06[00:07] * Syl_ 's gaze scans the area...
  735. 01[00:07] <@zoofman> As Mitzi opens the doors to the shrine...
  736. [00:07] <Syl_> Seeing nothing, she simply approaches it and enters.
  737. 01[00:08] <@zoofman> (oh well if you're both entering D:)
  738. 01[00:08] <@zoofman> Mitzi peaked inside, but Syl swung the door open.
  739. 06[00:08] * Harphe stays a good few feet back.
  740. [00:08] <Mitzi> (Well Mitzi went straight in as well)
  741. 01[00:09] <@zoofman> Inside, you find about three dozen Mithran-like individuals, similar in the way Viera are to Mithras. Only these ones have more canine features. They line the wall of the shrine, appearing to be sleeping, huddled together under blankets, with each other. But...you know by instinct they are not asleep.
  742. [00:10] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm, hibernation, i must say." Gelato says as he enters the Shrine and notices the Dogithras.
  743. 01[00:11] <@zoofman> Men, women, children, elders. Near the center sits a bearded man, with a book, a little bottle of ink, and a plumed pen at his side. The book is open to a page.
  744. 06[00:12] * Mitzi gasps and stumbles backward out of the shrine.
  745. [00:12] <Syl_> "...."
  746. [00:12] <Harphe> "What is it, dear?"
  747. [00:12] <Syl_> "You."
  748. [00:13] <Gelato> "Who are you talking to?" Gelato turns to Syl.
  749. [00:13] <Rosette> "What is going on here?"
  750. 06[00:13] * Rosette regards her allies worriedly.
  751. [00:14] <Mitzi> "S-shit, there are some...dead bodies. I didn't expect that..."
  752. [00:14] <Syl_> ( No response from the bearded one? )
  753. 01[00:15] <@zoofman> he does not respond, his eyes are closed, with a furrowed frown, and frost lines his beard. These are indeed corpses.
  754. 06[00:16] * Syl_ sighs, and grows less tense.
  755. [00:16] <Syl_> She enters the shrine to investigate.

  757. [00:16] <DiceMaid-9001> Syl_, sight beyond sight and all that jazz: 15 [2d6=6,6]
  758. [00:16] <Gelato> "...Or not. That is..." The Nu Mou shakes his head, losing his normally cool demeanor. "Hmmmhmm... Now what did happened to those poor souls? Perhaps they expired due to famine?"
  759. [00:17] <Rosette> 2d6+5 Healing to determine cause of death.
  760. [00:17] <DiceMaid-9001> Rosette, Healing to determine cause of death.: 13 [2d6=3,5]
  761. 06[00:17] * Rosette inspects the bodies, trying to see what caused their demise.
  762. 01[00:18] <@zoofman> Most these people froze to death, Rosette.
  763. 06[00:19] * Syl_ approaches the book, looking over its contents.
  764. [00:19] <Harphe> "What on earth happened here?"
  765. 01[00:19] <@zoofman> A few of the others, its' hard to tell, maybe another cause, starvation, dehydration, but mostly...just the cold. Passed away in their sleep, most of them are smiling, hugging a loved one close.
  766. 06[00:19] * Harphe skitters in.
  767. [00:19] <Mitzi> It takes a few moments, but Mitzi re-enters the shrine, still looking a bit shaken. She takes a deep breath at the entrance and slowly moves her eyes over the entire room, taking it in. "...It looks like they all died suddenly, at once." she concludes.
  768. 01[00:20] <@zoofman> The book, Syl, is not a language you immediately recognize. (Anyone have linguist skills?)
  769. [00:20] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm, a dreadfull scene i must say..."
  770. 06[00:21] * Harphe takes a moment to steel herself before examining the book. (casting Faith)

  779. [00:22] <Harphe> (I wish you'd said you had it ;_;)
  780. [00:22] <Rosette> "Mm, the cold is what did them in, most likely. Terrible," she says, looking them over with a frown before going to inspect the book
  781. [00:22] <Harphe> "But you said they died all at once, right?"
  782. 01[00:22] <@zoofman> Harphe can pick a few words out here and there, but Rosette on the other hand, knows this script. It's fairly similar to...Orcish.
  783. [00:23] <Harphe> "Cold doesn't kill suddenly."
  784. [00:23] <Mitzi> "I said that because it seems they're not particularly stressed looking." Mitzi shrugs and goes around to see the book.
  785. [00:23] <Mitzi> "This old man even...was able to keep reading as he passed..."
  786. [00:23] <Gelato> "It actually does, depending on how cold it is."
  787. 01[00:23] <@zoofman> Reading the first few pages makes it evident this man was the village elder, or a leader of some sort. Logs of marriages, births, daily activities, festivals. But...near the end, the page he had opened...
  788. [00:23] <Rosette> "This language looks really similar to that of...orcs."
  789. [00:24] <Gelato> "However, a 'flashfrost' would be unlikely to have happened inside this place, else there would be signs of it."
  790. 01[00:24] <@zoofman> She reads this allowed. http://pastebin.com/4HmnUeCp
  791. 01[00:24] <@zoofman> (aloud* oops )
  792. 01[00:27] <@zoofman> And it is common knowledge that is the year 920.
  793. [00:28] <Gelato> "Three hundred years ago. It's... Not that ancient, quite strange that no one ever heard of this Civilization before."
  794. [00:28] <Harphe> "They sure seem happy for people who feared for their lives."
  795. [00:30] <Syl_> "Does anyone have a shovel?"
  796. [00:30] <Rosette> "Perhaps these are tormented spirits the High Priestess spoke to me off," she ponders aloud.
  797. [00:31] <Syl_> "Somethin to dig with. Anything."
  798. [00:31] <Rosette> "Or who became them, anyway."
  799. [00:31] <Rosette> "I've nothing of the sort on me, I'm afraid."
  800. [00:31] <Harphe> "Is anyone here skilled in manipulating the primal forces of earth?"
  801. 06[00:32] * Mitzi quietly walks away from the gathered group, searching the temple for anything else of interest. Other books, tools, any other remnants of their civilization that may give a hint.
  802. [00:32] <Syl_> "The old man should be able to clear some snow, at least."
  803. [00:33] <Gelato> "Hmm, i do believe i can try, i did some Earth spell classes on my second college year." Gelato heads outside the village and searches for a clear spot for the graves.
  804. 01[00:33] <@zoofman> Outside of the personal items, you find a few of the men, and some of the women as well, had weapons with them. Mostly improvised farmer's tools.
  805. 01[00:33] <@zoofman> The ink and pen that were near the book...however.
  806. 01[00:33] <@zoofman> it's warm to the touch, not frozen in its little jar.
  807. 06[00:34] * Syl_ looks for a shovel inside the shrine.
  808. [00:34] <Rosette> "They were ready to defend this place with their lives."
  809. [00:34] <Syl_> "And so they did."
  810. [00:35] <Rosette> "But...like I said, there is much sign of wounding through combat."
  811. [00:35] <Rosette> "Strange, non?"
  812. [00:35] <Syl_> "Gelato. Clear a space outside the shrine."
  813. [00:35] <Syl_> "We will lay them to rest."
  814. [00:35] <Gelato> "Oooh, don't nag me, i am getting to it, harrumph!"
  815. [00:35] <Mitzi> "The tools they used for weapons may be enough." Mitzi then slowly move over to the table and picks up the quilled pen and dips it in the ink, letting a few drops fall back into the inkwell.
  816. 01[00:35] <@zoofman> You find a shovel, sure enough.
  817. 06[00:36] * Syl_ goes outside, and starts clearing away an area with the shovel - she's preparing graves. Individual ones, it seems.
  818. [00:36] <Harphe> "That ink...."
  819. 06[00:36] * Harphe scoots closer.
  820. 01[00:37] <@zoofman> The ink drips much as you'd expect from a fresh bottle.
  821. [00:37] <Gelato> After doing a quick chant, a large amount of snow outside the village is quickly removed away magically. "Hmm, very well, that part is done." He then starts another chant, as the dirt and earth shift away as well. "Hmmhmm now could someone help increasing the hole?"
  822. 06[00:37] * Mitzi then removes her own pen and dips it in, swishing a broad stroke across the air, probably spraying a bit of it on the ground. "...It's not frozen."
  823. 06[00:37] * Rosette closes her eyes, reflecting on some elegies.
  824. 01[00:38] <@zoofman> Harphe, give me a relics check.
  825. [00:39] <Syl_> "Individual ones, please."
  826. [00:39] <Syl_> "They deserve that much."
  827. 06[00:39] * Rosette goes to inspect the ink with Harphe after putting some thoughts together.
  828. [00:40] <Rosette> (I've got Relics too, if you want.)

  832. [00:40] <Gelato> "Harrumph, should have said it before i started." Grunting a bit, Gelato tries to divide the large hole in smaller ones by shifting away the dirt.
  833. 01[00:41] <@zoofman> This ink has some magical properties to it. You suspect some of its composition included some sort of ice element magic.
  834. 06[00:42] * Syl_ gets to work moving the corpses into individual graves. Each one is carried with care, and the samurai remains silent as she carries out this task.
  835. [00:43] <Rosette> "Hm, this ink is magical, likely enchanted with ice."
  836. [00:43] <Rosette> "Might explain why it hasn't frozen."
  837. [00:43] <Syl_> She moves the old man to a central grave, saving him for last.
  838. 06[00:43] * Syl_ fills in the graves herself.
  839. [00:46] <Mitzi> "Well, perhaps we can put this to good use in their stead." Mitzi takes the ink and pen with her.
  840. [00:47] <Harphe> 2d6+6 relics, casting faith
  841. [00:47] <DiceMaid-9001> Harphe, relics, casting faith: 13 [2d6=5,2]
  842. [00:47] <Harphe> (sorry)
  843. [00:47] <Gelato> "Oh dear, oh dear..."
  844. 06[00:48] * Rosette watches Syl silently as she finishes up preparing the graves.
  845. [00:48] <Gelato> "So is placing the beacon on such a place a good idea, hmmhmm?"
  846. 06[00:48] * Syl_ fills in the old man's grave, and takes a moment of silence.
  847. 01[00:49] <@zoofman> Harphe is able to elaborate a bit more on the ink. It appears to include bits of ice flan and fire flan that have been processed to a point of equilibrium.
  848. [00:49] <Syl_> "May the spirits bear all of you swiftly to your ancestors. Rest well - it's deserve."
  849. [00:49] <Syl_> *deserved
  850. [00:49] <Mitzi> "If anything, I should relocate it to this shrine, if it is truly the only safe location here."
  851. 01[00:49] <@zoofman> She thinks she could do some fun things with this stuff.
  852. 06[00:50] * Rosette approaches the graves, kneeling in the snow to pray
  853. [00:50] <Harphe> "Hmm. Interesting. Miss Mitzi, may I have that?"
  854. [00:50] <Rosette> "Goddess, we commend these souls to you, who died an unknown death, only looking to survive. Their names are long forgotten, but may their cause never be."
  855. [00:51] <Mitzi> "Hm? Oh right, that guy did say you were our alchemist before he sent us to fetch you." Mitzi fishes in her bag and hands the items over to Harphe.
  856. [00:51] <Harphe> "Thank you. To put it simply, the ink contains a suspension of ice and fire flan extract."
  857. [00:52] <Harphe> "That's why it didn't freeze."
  858. 06[00:53] * Mitzi nods along. "Is it complicated? We might find more such artifacts around here, which may be of worth."
  859. 01[00:54] <@zoofman> Once the bodies are laid to rest, there's not much left in the shrine. It's also about 4 in the afternoon.
  860. [00:54] <Syl_> "Finish your business here. We'll teleport back when you're done."
  861. [00:54] <Gelato> "Hmmhmm, maybe the burial will make those poor souls forget the fact we are graverobbing them?"
  862. [00:55] <Harphe> (how close to the snowstorm are we)
  863. 01[00:55] <@zoofman> (aha :v)
  864. 01[00:56] <@zoofman> You're close enough to the snowstorm that you can literally see the wall where it begins not far off the town square.
  865. 06[00:56] * Harphe goes to see if she can take a sample :3c
  866. 06[00:56] * Harphe am ALCHEMY
  867. 06[00:56] * Rosette watches Harphe approach the Snowstorm. She rises and carefully follows from behind
  868. [00:56] <Rosette> "Do be careful, madame Harphe."
  869. 06[00:58] * Mitzi goes to follow. This was their real assignment after all. As she approaches the wall of snow she waves her hand up to the side, glowing runes flashing into existence on her command. Magic shield! A brief moment of hesitation and...she takes a step in. Trilloby looks on from outside, his usual gaze focused on her.
  870. [00:59] <Harphe> "Those who are careful rarely make history."
  871. [00:59] <Rosette> "Yes, but those who aren't often meet horrible fates, madame."
  872. 01[01:00] <@zoofman> The wind and snow volume are noticably larger on the other side. It literally looks like a wall, completely unnatural. However, other than being a bit more snow covered and colder, Mitzi doesn't really feel anything odd.
  873. [01:00] <Harphe> "The Schwartzvelt?"
  874. 01[01:00] <@zoofman> Harphe also aquires BOTTLE OF SNOW?
  875. [01:00] <Harphe> "What's on the other side, Miss?
  876. [01:00] <Harphe> "
  877. 06[01:00] * Mitzi shivers and slowly proceeds further in, trying to get a good look at the inside of the storm.
  878. [01:00] <Mitzi> 2d6+5 awareness?
  879. [01:00] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, awareness?: 12 [2d6=6,1]
  880. 01[01:02] <@zoofman> ITS REALLY FUCKING COLD HERE.
  881. 01[01:04] <@zoofman> (you guys about ready to wrap up? You'll have another chance to investigate a bit more via minis and such.)
  882. 06[01:04] * Gelato sits down, watching the snowstorm. "Ah, such a beautiful visage. It might sound callous, but i envy those who died here, slowly numbing themselves into sleep, no pain, just peace."
  883. [01:04] <Harphe> (awesome)
  884. [01:04] <Gelato> (good)
  885. 03[01:04] * Mitzi_ (467b9e7d@sux-11491D6B.mibbit.com) has joined #crystalcrusade
  886. [01:05] <Mitzi_> "I can't see much!" Mitzi yells over the roar of the cold winds. "I'm...going to walk in a bit further." And so she does, taking a few more slow steps and plucking her glowstone out of her coat to aid her vision. She also starts floating up to get a better view. (casting float obv.)
  887. 02[01:05] * Mitzi (nnscript@sux-A544B97D.austin.res.rr.com) Quit (NickServ (GHOST command used by Mitzi_))
  888. 03[01:05] * Mitzi_ is now known as Mitzi
  889. 01[01:07] <@zoofman> As she floats a little up...hm.
  890. [01:07] <Gelato> "Ah, yet the young ones can't keep quiet and rest. Perhaps my time to die painlessly is approaching as well. Oh my dear Mariera, if i could only see you one more time!"
  891. 01[01:07] <@zoofman> give me an awareness check.
  892. [01:08] <Mitzi> 2d6+5
  893. [01:08] <DiceMaid-9001> Mitzi, 2d6+5: 10 [2d6=3,2]
  894. 01[01:09] <@zoofman> You can see the stone road, barely, under the snow. It's elevated a bit above the rest of the landscape. And it leads forward, on and on and on as far as you can see...which admittedly isn't enough to conclude much other than there are probably many towns like this, further in.
  895. 06[01:11] * Mitzi floats out of the storm and settles on the ground, teeth chattering. "Well, it's c-c-cold in there, t-t-that's for sure. And it l-l-looks like there are some more t-t-towns deeper in. Rabbit hole doesn't end here."
  896. [01:11] <Harphe> "...How fascinating. Are you all right, dear? Here, have my cloak."
  897. [01:11] <Syl_> "Are you finished?"
  898. [01:12] <Gelato> "Hmmmmhmmm that is actually not much surprising, those Mithra-like people probably built a civilization here before the Beastmen settled."
  899. 06[01:12] * Mitzi nods and accepts it gratefully. "T-t-thankss." She gets all huddled and wrapped up.
  900. 06[01:12] * Harphe attempts to retain her dignity while shivering
  901. [01:13] <Rosette> Rosette rushes to drape one of the spider-bear pelts over Harphe. No one freezes on her watch!
  902. 06[01:13] * Gelato takes off his hat and throws it on Mitzi's head.
  903. 06[01:14] * Harphe is no longer freezing, but covered in a smelly hide. "...Thank you."
  904. [01:14] <Mitzi> "We sh-should g-go..." Mitzi makes her way back toward here she set up the teleporter, ready to punch in the location code for the Bastion.
  905. [01:14] <Syl_> "Let's."
  906. 01[01:14] <@zoofman> As your initial inspection concludes, you trigger the device, teleporting back to The Bastion. There...wasn't much a banquet that night, even though you did get a chance to eat due to Saheed's insistance. After your report was delivered, news spread like wildfire around camp, and the atmosphere became extremely solemn. In fact, many of you were dragged right back out to this sad little village later that night. But that is a tale for another day.
  907. 01[01:14] <@zoofman> (and /session)
