  3. A. I use a glitch called Item Underflow, which allows me to manipulate several aspects of the game. This includes

  5. -Warping to different map locations
  6. -Getting Certain items early (like masterballs or HMs)
  7. -Changing which badges I have
  8. -Making my text speed faster

  12. Q. How did you do "Item Underflow"?
  13.  
  14. A. When you have a stack of 255 of an item and you toss an item above it in your inventory the game duplicates the Item with a 255 stack. The game also sees that an Item left your inventory so it moves the "cancel button" up. So when I move the Cancel button all the way up to the top of my inventory the game thinks I have 0 items. When the guard removes the fresh water from my inventory the game suddenly thinks I have -1 items (the game can't handle negatives) so the game thinks I have 255 items. From here I can access pieces of memory in the game.

  20. A. I would guess anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour or so. I estimate that this run could be taken to under 4 hours.

  26. A. By naming myself this the 3 pokemon that will appear during the old man glitch are: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Oddish. These are 3 very hard to find pokemon otherwise.

  32. A. Since I can skip Brock in this run Charmander is faster because he learns ember at level 9 and most of the early trainers use bug types.

  36. Q. How do you make random pokemon just appear like mew and gengar?

  38. A. I use a glitch called trainer fly. Basically If i fly away from a trainer the next time I enter that route a pokemon will appear based on the special stat of my last encounter. (see section at bottom)

  42. Q. How did you get a level 100 so quickly!?
  43.  
  44. A. When a pokemon is in the slow-medium experience group (like mew/gengar) and they are level 1 the game thinks that the pokemon have nearly maximum experience. If you can give the level 1 pokemon less then 52 experience the game will think they have the maximum possible amount of experience (and will therefore jump you to level 100).

  48. Q. Why is gengar at low health?
  49.  
  50. A. When Gergar (or any pokemon) is below 20% health there is a siren sound. This sound makes it so that other sounds can't play, which saves a small amount of time every time the game would try to play another sound. For example when a pokemon is sent out it makes a sound (its cry). but being below 20% health you skip this cry saving a second or so.

  54. Q. Why are you looking for Ditto?

  56. A. Trainer fly gives you a pokemon based on the last pokemon you saw's special value. Since ditto copies your stats I can get one of my pokemon to have a special value I need and have ditto copy it. There are some pokemon I can only get this way (see Ditto Fly section below).

  62. A. Of the like 10 runs ever completed the fastest time is 4:16:57 by Me. This can VERY easily be improved and I won't really consider it a WR until I get a time I am proud of.

  70. BEGINNING GAME (PRE UNDERFLOW)
  71.  
  72. 1. Name yourself ZZZzzzr, pick charmander, and make your way to Pewter City (killing 1 wild pokemon along the way). Once in Pewter make sure you have 3-4 potions, 10-14 pokeballs, and 1-2 antidotes (I pick up several potions on the way). Do the brock skip and make your way to Mt. Moon.

  74. 2. Heal at the pokemon Center outside, buy Magikarp, and enter Mt. Moon. Grab the Rare Candy and Escape rope off the ground. Try to catch a Zubat here (level doesn't really matter). Activate Trainer fly off the rocket grunt. (Since you're new you may want to go to the PC in the pokemon center, change boxes and Save + Quit, which allows you to save DIRECTLY BEFORE the youngster with the Zubat). Anyways, walk back through Mt. Moon and Fight the Youngster with the 2 ratatta and the zubat. Growl 6 times on the zubat before you kill it. Walk to the basement and catch gengar. Underflow gengar off of any wild pokemon (if it is greater then level 10ish make sure you send out 3 different Pokemon against it or gengar will get too much exp). Exit the cave, grab the greatball and go fight Misty.

  76. 3. After Misty heal at the center and buy 3 repel (and a bunch of pokeballs) from the mart. Fight you're way through nugget bridge (make sure to only use night shade where Lick cannot hit).Save before the grass and catch Abra.

  78. 4. Activate trainer fly and catch Cubone. Then activate Trainer fly again and catch Mew MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SPACE IN YOUR PARTY HERE. Set up a final trainer fly and continue along the route to bill. After Bill teleport back to cerulean and talk to the Jynx trade guy. walk outside PAUSE THE GAME (and check if rare candies are in slot 6 of your items list). Walk back on the bridge and run from the missingno. Use EXACTLY 2 candies on any pokemon. Make your way to vermillion, and heal at the center.

  80. 4. go straight to the SS anne and get cut. Then set up a trainer fly off the guy north of town (use a repel while in the menu. Walk to the snorlax route, and teleport back to vermillion. teach cut + dig to mew and go to the gym. After you beat Surge teach thunderbolt to gengar and check if candies are still in slot 6. Walk back to the trainer fly route and run from the missingno. (you now have exactly 255 rare candy). Set up another Trainer fly (again use a repel while in the Menu) and walk back to the snorlax route.

  82. 5. Snorlax is gone! go south and fight the trainer with the electrode and get the super rod. ONCE YOU GET THE SUPER ROD MAKE SURE THAT THE 2 BOTTOM MOST ITEMS IN YOUR INVENTORY ARE USELESS. THEY WILL BE GETTING DELETED (I usually use SS Anne ticket/ Cut HM/ Nugget / Bubblebeam HM) Make your way to celedon dept store.

Go to the 4th floor and make sure the bottom 2 items in your inventory are useless. then switch any tossable item to the 1st slot of your inventory and the stack of candies to the 2nd. Talk to the Clerk and sell the tossable item then the Stack of candies that appear in the tops space of your inventory. Now you need to buy:

  93. 7. Teach fly to mew and fly to Pewter to get the old Amber. Get the coin case and buy a clefairy and an abra (Need 900 coins total) (This is one point where your entire route can change based on a prior encounter but it is a little more advanced fr the basics just get clefairy here rather then in Mt. Moon). After you finish that Make your way to the guard house between Celedon and Safferon. Toss the top Item in your Inventory (should be rare candies) over and over again until you cannot reopen your item menu. Save your game if you are uncomfortable and enter the guard house, talk with the guard.

(to be safe after I warp for the 1st time I move one of the stacks of Candies to the bottom Of my Inventory)
