  5. Narrator: Selecting music.

  7. DNA: Ah, right, I should apply that on my token. Should be 600
  8. DNA: and there it is
  9. Narrator: o7
  10. DNA: o7
  11. DNA: Should make a habit of updating my 'box' token too, though that won't be as important until a level-up.
  12. Narrator: _b
  13. Narrator: Alright. Anyone need a moment to update anything?
  14. Avara: we didn't level, so i believe not
  15. Grace Leonhardt: I still need whats in my bag. :P
  16. Narrator: Oh right, that's when I lost power.

  30. Grace Leonhardt: Redy
  31. July 23rd, 2017.
  32. 73 degrees with a 52 degree humidity.
  33. Current wind speeds are at 8 mph blowing North, Northwest.
  34. There's a light rain. Currently 0.05 inches of water.
  35. Sunday.
  36. 0245 hours.
  37. Actinidia, Etna, Grace and Pierce had recently underwent dramatic change and became Pokémon. Actinidia, the Grass-Type Snivy. Etna, the Ice and Rock-Type Amaura. Grace, the Fighting-Type Riolu. Pierce, the Steel and Rock-Type Aron. The four of them had recently began moving through the hotel and encountered a band of Spinarak. With a small combat encounter and some quick talking from Etna, negotiations with the Spinarak began and an alliance was formed. Acquiring one Uraruren (the tiniest Spinarak) as an companion, they were well on their way to venture into the outside world.
  38. Let's continue the journey of new-life~
  39. Uraruren: Uraruren watches as everyone picks up a bag, "I'm glad I always carry my things with me." Uraruren pats her two leather pouches wrapped around her like backpacks.
  40. Grace Leonhardt: Grace is content with pooring out the bag into her sarina bag because it's something to remember, and it's fabulous af. "What do you usually carry?"
  41. Uraruren: Uraruren checked her leather pouches, "Some feel good needles, some muscle grow pills and some food. You?"
  42. Grace Leonhardt: Grace rolls her shoulder and looks through the bag. "Well, some food, drinks, a bit of medici- Wait, feel good needles?"
  43. Pierce Mars Oswell: The first word that came to his mind was "Anaesthetic?"
  44. Etna: "The pack I found has food, water, medical supplies, and... apparently someone brought alcohol to the convention."
  45. Uraruren: Uraruren nods and pats her pouch before crawling toward the door, "Mmhm. Feel goods. For when you're hurt and stuff."
  46. Uraruren: "Like when a rock wyrm falls on you."
  47. Grace Leonhardt: Grace relaces a bit after hearing the response. "Okay, that's a bit more releiving to hear. Glat to see that we're getting decently suplied. Rock Wyrm?"
  48. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I don't think I've ever had that happen to me. And I'll count myself lucky."
  49. Abdua: "Avoid the wyms, Uraruren. You know they are beyond us, currently."
  50. Etna: "Rock wyrm might be something like an Onix. That'd be a rough battle. But, let's get going?"
  51. Abdua: (( wyrms ))
  52. Uraruren: "They are some of the first things our clan encountered when venturing out to the beyond."
  53. Etna: "About as big as this domain, made of a lot of rocks with a big horn on the head?"
  54. Uraruren: "The largest and most scariest was the rock wyrm. But, you have a wyrm among your coven. So perhaps we may not need to avoid them so diligently?"
  55. Uraruren: Uraruren scratches her own horn, "It was quite massive! Though to be honest, I don't remember a horn. But mother hurried us back into the domain before I could subject much to memory."
  56. Abdua: "Their deaths, while much appreciate, is currently beyond us. You'd do well to avoid their ire."
  57. Abdua: (( appreciated ))
  58. Etna: "Every person's different. Caution's probably the best way to go in general, at least until people stop panicking."
  59. Grace Leonhardt: "Yeah, that's a generally a good idea."
  60. Avara: ret-2-go?
  61. Avara: .. in less shantae terms, ready to go?
  62. Abdua: (( I'm not a PC, so don't expect me to push the party anywhere. ))
  63. Avara: asking the party
  64. DNA: I'm ready!
  65. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...This is not going to be easy, figuring out what's going on. Everything and everyone will most likely be trying to ...kill us."
  66. Etna: "So we'll have to be ready to defend ourselves if we can't talk them down."
  67. Grace Leonhardt: rdy
  68. Avara: okay. let's-a go!
  69. * Etna leads the party into the great outdoors.
  70. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will follow after, after zipping back up her bag.
  71. The night is deep and a light rain envelops the area. A sort of misting of the area though that does little to cover the scent of cooked flesh, burnt rubber and flames.
  72. * Pierce Mars Oswell brings up the rear guard.
  73. The crackling of fire can be heard as loudly as it could be seen, as building entrances were ablaze, as were holes in the sidewalks and streets, cars, both destroyed and mildly intact, plants and debris you can't quite make out what it is anymore.
  74. Unsure of what to expect, the amount of motion in the streets were all but entirely absent. Anything organic seems to be dead. Bodyparts of what you assume were to be from some sort of Pokémon were scattered about, but mostly centered around destroyed vehicles or buildings. The bodies of children, or what's left of them, were scattered about the streets as well. Though their bodies were mutilated in a way that you knew it was predation rather than mindless killing. And in some cases, the Pokémon that was feeding on them was dead nearby, slain while feeding and then was fed on themselves.
  75. Where could all the predators and life be now if not apparent on the streets the night of the turning?
  76. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Urp..." he mumbled. "I think I'm going to be sick..."
  77. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will have a paw at her nose trying to suppress the scents that she doesn't really wanna think about, as well as the sights. "I... don't like this... I don't wanna know what's been eating..."
  78. Uraruren: "Hm. Not quite as bad as earlier. A lot less movement now. Though I can't be sure if that's better or worse..."
  79. * Etna takes a few deep, shakey breaths to try and center herself. This was pretty horrifying, especially on top of what they'd seen earlier--she'd been the one to walk in on the houndours eating the kid's corpse before, after all... she tried to keep her mind on the present. "We'll have to find some shelter somewhere."
  80. Pierce Mars Oswell: "One that isn't taken. What would a shelter even look like?"
  81. Uraruren: Uraruren opens its mandibles to speak but then pauses, "...Perhaps that's where all the movement has moved to. Scenes hidden from plain sight."
  82. Etna: "Homes that aren't on fire. Cars that aren't on fire. Generally, things that aren't on fire and are big enough to shelter us."
  83. Grace Leonhardt: "Y-Yes... lets get the high hell outta here... Though finding something not on fire might be the issue."
  84. Pierce Mars Oswell: "The city is huge and we're going to have to get out of here on foot. Assuming we try to go outside the city. ...Should we?"
  85. Grace Leonhardt: "Wait, we are at DC. Should we try to get to the White House or something? Those places have got to be super safe... Right?"
  86. * Etna walks along the sidewalk, to avoid most of the debris and wreckage. "There'll be more non-humans outside the city. Given Abdua's nest's example, though, that doesn't really guarantee what sort of things we'll see and experience there."
  87. Etna: "I don't really... feel comfortable walking into the White House. If it's affected, then politicians are now literal monsters and probably going crazy with tense and stressed security. If not, well... what would you expect the secret service to do when a bunch of strange creatures walk up to the white house?"
  88. Etna: "Either way, heading out to more suburban areas is probably a good idea. Less packed, less wreckage, probably less to worry about. Probably."
  89. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will open her mouth, and hesitate for a few moments, before closing it, realizing what Elna was saying had some truth to it. "F-Fair enough."
  90. Pierce Mars Oswell: "At this point I'm willing to go with whatever idea sounds good. I'm ... still in shock, I just... This is wrong. I didn't think an apocalypse would be real."
  91. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will shake her head. "Of all the appocolipses I've heard of this was probably the least expected one for me."
  92. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...I know. Let's find the Potomac. We can follow it along the edge. Lower chance of us getting lost."
  93. Etna: "Stranger than ragnarok by far. Following the river sounds good. Any idea which way it is?"
  94. Grace Leonhardt: "I just had a thought. If we're pokemon now, does that mean the Legendarys are now real? Like... the pokemon that should change the earth and stuff at will? Like Arcus or Groudon and stuff?"
  95. Etna: "... Following the river and being -very- careful," Etna corrects herself at Grace's comment. "I don't know how much of the lore would carry over, but we don't want to run into an angry Kyogre or Dialga or whatever."
  96. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I...damn, I don't remember. But we should be able to find some sort of map lying around. The Potomac's huge."
  97. * Etna picks a random direction to walk in, lacking direction. "We'll find something eventually."
  98. Narrator: Roll 2d6 for random direction.
  99. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Yeah. There's this really huge bridge that goes across it that separates DC from Virginia. If we find that, it'll make things easier."
  100. DNA: Does it matter who rolls?
  101. Narrator: up, down, east, west, north, south, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest. Are your results.
  102. Avara: 9
  103. DNA: ...'up' and 'down'?
  104. Etna: Etna begins walking northeast.
  105. Avara: we'll just punch holes in a wall and climb. or go down into the sewers.
  106. DNA: Yeah, down makes sense - there are sewers and subways. 'Up' doesn't.
  107. * Etna is going northeast.
  108. DNA: Unless there's a vantage point in a building or something.
  109. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will scoot after Elna, now starting to try herself from getting any more ideas to freak herself out.
  110. Pierce Mars Oswell: Pierce will be looking for any signs or landmarks along the way, that would hint at where they're going or where they're headed. Perception - Seeing...
  111. Heading northeast the first building you see that's more intact than the others and not on fire is a Starbucks/Chipotle joint restaurant.
  112. Pierce Mars Oswell: 1+3+3+3=10
  113. Etna: "Ohey, I recognize that logo. Starbucks... and something else. Am I the only one who can't actually read the words?"
  114. Pierce Mars Oswell: (Object of Your Attention)
  115. Pierce Mars Oswell: oh wait
  116. Narrator whispers: While your search for signs or landmarks don't find anything noteworthy on that end, you do see a few bike rentals with bikes still locked and attached. Undamaged and not on fire.
  117. Grace Leonhardt: "No, you're not the only one that can't read english anymore."
  118. Pierce Mars Oswell: equal to the pokemon die, not the doubles. Never mind, then.
  119. Pierce Mars Oswell: "The words look alien to me too. Like odd squiggles."
  120. * Pierce Mars Oswell glances off to the side. "...I see a bike rental place over there, with a few undamaged bikes. Though...I doubt those would help us very much..."
  121. Etna: "Okay, so I'm not the only one. Something weird happened there too, then." Etna walks up to the window, looking into the combo restaurant since she's the only one tall enough.
  122. Narrator: Interested in a perception for something specific or just a general overview?
  123. Avara: perception for humans and pokemons.
  124. Pierce Mars Oswell: Just general from me.
  125. Avara: 2+4+4+1=11
  126. Pierce Mars Oswell: I guess I was looking for maps or landmarks or something? but whatever I can find is fine.
  127. Narrator: The question was to Ava. I whispered you the result for your search.
  128. DNA: oh whoops, sorry.
  129. Etna: "There's two pokemon huddled up with a kid in there. Doesn't look like they're doing anything awful." Etna walks up to the door and gives it an attempt at a gentle knock.
  130. Grace Leonhardt: "Oh thank god there's a kid with some friendly 'mon."
  131. Narrator: (( Gimme a sec, token grabbing ))
  132. Etna: brb
  133. Etna: back
  134. Grace Leonhardt: wb
  135. Narrator: One of the Pokémon near the child turns slowly to the sound of the knocking and takes notice of you. It stands on al fours and is nearly as big as Etna and walks over to the door and glares at all of you.
  136. Tauros: "One of the few that didn't go splat on the plexiglass. And pretty diverse for a group..." Tauros huffs, "What is it you want?"
  137. Grace Leonhardt: Hesitating for a few moments, Grace will wave. "Hello?"
  138. Grace Leonhardt: "Uh, we're not here to pick a fight. We're just trying to find shelter."
  139. * Pierce Mars Oswell will quietly move closer to the door, between it and Grace/Urauren, to protect the squishy ones.
  140. Etna: "Hello. We were hoping for either permission to sleep here too, or directions. Since you know what plexiglass is, I'm guessing you were human too, Before?"
  141. Tauros: "There's real monsters out there now. I know what you mean. Just because we turned into monsters doesn't mean we need to lose our humanity..." Tauros sighs and motions for the other Pokémon to walk over.
  142. Miltank: Miltank, walking on her hind-legs steps over and gently pats the Tauros before looking the group over.
  143. Tauros: "They're looking for shelter too, honey. What do you want to do?"
  144. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will relax and deflate a bit, "Oh thank god, someone else that was once human. I was... kinda starting to worry we were the onely ones to keep our minds."
  145. Uraruren: "There are those that lost them?"
  146. Tauros: Tauros nearly drops his face into his hoof, "Dear lord how new to this are you?!"
  147. Pierce Mars Oswell: "No newer than everybody else."
  148. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will perk up, and motion to the spider, "Oh uh... I don't know but I don't think Uraruren here was once human...? That or their memory is affected terribly."
  149. Etna: "But Uraruren and her nest prove that not all the non-ex-human Pokemon are feral either. So you don't have to worry about that."
  150. Miltank: "I'll let them in. Friendly faces would be welcome...." Miltank motions for the child to come over and then points to the lock.
  151. * Etna gives the child a friendly wave with a forelimb.
  152. Child: Child slowly steps over to the door and looks at the Miltank and Tauros before your group and gulps. Shakily, he pulls a set of keys from his pocket and unlocks the door, "Pftaata gun's rughs..."
  153. Miltank: "We don't understand each other verbally anymore, but we still try. Come in. Our son will lock it up.
  154. Grace Leonhardt: Grace recoils for a second. You're... son? Oh my."
  155. Grace Leonhardt: your*
  156. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...Wait... Then how come he didn't change but you did?"
  157. Child: (( I assume everyone enters? ))
  158. DNA: Yeah
  159. * Etna enters, her head tilting as she looks at the child. Then she speaks, with some effort. "Wa gun's ghans su."
  160. Grace Leonhardt: ye
  161. Child: Child locks the door after everyone enters and looks shocked at Etna, "Whas?! Yuia than ianga'tsang na?!"
  162. Tauros: Tauros watches Etna and their son talk in a language he doesn't understand, "...Is...is it...talking to our son?"
  163. Uraruren: "That's not something I understand. Sounds awfully unintelligent. Awful. Just awful."
  164. Etna: "Is't a ftussfta gurruthiafts, ftias xat. I than ianga'tsang xuia." She then turns to Tauros. "I can understand him. And... I can sort of speak the language. My accent's probably a little rough."
  165. Grace Leonhardt: "I'm... blown away actually! We won't be completely in the dark when we find other humans!"
  166. Child: Child suddenly starts yelling at Etna, "Than, atk shan! Atk shan ghha'a nx nun ang gag a'a! Wha'a nx tutsa't ghans! Thax shiats...shiats gutallaa'ag!" Child points to both Tauros and Miltank as he yells.
  167. Etna: "... He's asking where his family is. Mom, dad, and sisters."
  168. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Y-How!? We've only been at this for 30 minutes and you're already bilingual?"
  169. Miltank: Miltank looks a little concerned at the boys reaction and watches.
  170. Tauros: Tauros's eyes go wide, "He doesn't know by this point it's us?!"
  171. Miltank: Miltank pats Tauros again, "We suddenly turned into monsters. You can't blame him."
  172. Grace Leonhardt: "Could you tell him they're his family?"
  173. Tauros: "Yes! Tell him it's us!"
  174. Etna: "I don't know how I know what I know. Maybe part of my mind transferred over." She looks to Tauros, "Any idea about his sisters too?"
  175. * Etna then looks to Child.
  176. Miltank: Miltank opened her mouth but then shut it and looked away.
  177. Miltank: "They're both here too. They're in the kitchen in the back..."
  178. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Are they human too? Or were they also changed?"
  179. Tauros: "They're like us...kind of."
  180. Etna: "Tha ftiaftft ang thugh a'a xuia' la'anst. A ftus ur uftga' laulfta gus sia'nag unsu Pukanun. Yuia' nun taxt shas xuia' tutsa't a'a un sha kusthhan."
  181. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Kind of?"
  182. Miltank: "They're not what we are is what she means."
  183. Tauros: "Well, I'm a guy now...so...'he' is probably more understandable..."
  184. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Wait, wh-" He stops short, and tries to process the information.
  185. Etna: "... Which one of you is mom, dad, or other mom, or other dad, or whatever. What pronouns would he know you by?"
  186. Grace Leonhardt: "Different how? Wait... you weren't a he...? Oh. OH."
  187. Child: Child stares at Etna before turning to the Tauros and Miltank before tearing up. Without hesitation, he turns and runs into the dining area and hides in a cabinet under the condiment stand.
  188. Pierce Mars Oswell: "So that means whoever did this transformation did...or whatever...did so irrespective of gender? That's...strange."
  189. Etna: "... He's probably going to need time to come to terms with this. His world kind of just got blown up..."
  190. Miltank: "Well, I'm a woman now so...I guess I'll just be the mom by default. It's best if we don't confuse him anymore than this already is."
  191. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...How old is he? And...how old are his siblings?"
  192. Grace Leonhardt: "That's... rather fair. Should we tell him about his other kin too?"
  193. Miltank: (( brb. But keep going. I'll catch up. ))
  194. DNA: Damn you GM I had a question!
  195. Etna: "I told him about each of them, as much as I know about."
  196. Etna: "Well... we'll be here all night, if a translator's needed."
  197. Etna: "And me knowing how to speak... english? Human? Whatever I was talking in, it means it's probably possible for other people to learn it too."
  198. Grace Leonhardt: "I'd like to learn it if possible. Though when thingsg aren't under such pressure."
  199. Narrator: (( I'll allow speaking Human to be taught to others as a focus rather than a talent. ))
  200. Narrator: (( Since the talent teaches speaking AND reading. Sounds fair to me. ))
  201. Narrator: (( So if people want to learn speaking human from Etna, you can pick that up as a focus when leveling up. ))
  202. DNA: Okay! FOCUS IT IS.
  203. Grace Leonhardt: -w-7
  204. Avara: sounds good to me
  205. Narrator: What was your question, DNA?
  206. DNA: "...How old is he? And...how old are his siblings?"
  207. Tauros: "Our son, Austin, is 9."
  208. Miltank: "His sisters are Michelle, 14 and Belle, 13."
  209. Tauros: "Uh, Michelle is the...beehive looking one. And Belle is the black lizard looking one."
  210. Pierce Mars Oswell: "So maybe that's how it works..." he mentioned to nobody in particular.
  211. DNA: Vespiquen? I approve
  212. DNA: and I guess the other one is Salazzle
  213. Etna: "My name's Etna. It's nice to meet all of you, despite the circumstances."
  214. Grace Leonhardt: "Wait, they changed too...?"
  215. Tauros: "They did, yes. They're making some food for Austin right now."
  216. Pierce Mars Oswell: "What if children were the only ones spared?"
  217. Pierce Mars Oswell: "All the humans we've seen so far, they've all been children. We haven't seen any human adults yet."
  218. Etna: "It seems that way so far. We've only seen kids'... bodies, out there. Not even pre-teens."
  219. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Were they just...immune? Or was whatever behind this somewhat merciful?"
  220. Uraruren: "You giants are odd. Could someone explain 'years' to me, again?"
  221. Grace Leonhardt: Grace hesitates for a few moments, before speaking up again, "At... least his sisters will be a bit more humanoid when they evolve. If you wanna see the silver lining. Oh uh, a year is 365 days."
  222. Tauros: "Uh, you did mention that the smaller one wasn't human before...so uhm, what were you if you don't mind me asking?"
  223. Etna: "One year is 365 suns, with the occasional extra sun added in. Humans live to be well over 50 years normally."
  224. Uraruren: "I think giants called us 'wolf'. But we weren't much different before than we are now."
  225. Etna: "A wolf-spider, then."
  226. Uraruren: "Oh, okay. You giants are ancient. But wolf-spider is a bit of a mouthful. I'll try to remember it."
  227. Miltank: "Uh, what's...evolve?"
  228. Etna: "Let's start simple. Do you know what Pokemon is?"
  229. Uraruren: "This is new to me as well. Does everyone become more giant-like when they do this thing?"
  230. Tauros: "Sort of. It's that video game with the man in the red and blue overalls, right?"
  231. Miltank: "That's Mario, dear."
  232. Grace Leonhardt: "Well, evolving is when you meet certan conditions, usually getting more experienced. Once you do, you change shape into your evolved form. It's usually a step up in strength and size."
  233. Grace Leonhardt: "If the game is accurate to what's going on, you two... can't evolve, but your daughters can... if they're both still female."
  234. Etna: "Pokemon is a video game series about a human kid, about 10 years old, going on an adventure that's both just good fun, and a way of growing up. They collect pokemon along the way, as friends and as fighters to protect the human, who's known as a Trainer. Pokemon evolve when they get stronger, under certain conditions, like Grace said. Sometimes it requires a special item, but most of the time it's just getting stronger--and some species can't evolve, or can evolve twice."
  235. Etna: "We are Pokemon now. You're a Tauros, and you're a Miltank," she says, nodding to the respective parents. "You're the sexes you are now because your species are male-only and female-only."
  236. Etna: "And yeah, most evolutions involve getting bigger. Not always more humanoid, though--I'm going to look like a grown-up and prettier version of what I am now, basically."
  237. Tauros: "So, evolving is basically...growing up?"
  238. Miltank: "Maybe that's why we're the kind that doesn't evolve. We were already almost 60."
  239. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I guess it's a case-by-case basis, though...it doesn't make this any easier or less scary. Some 'good fun' this turned out to be. ...Oh, I didn't introduce myself, did I? I'm Mars."
  240. Etna: "Growing up is one way to look at it. If you went through puberty in a matter of seconds."
  241. Grace Leonhardt: "I'm going to get bigger, and stronger. Your daughters, if still female, the black lizard one will become a bit bigger, and the honeycomb one will become a litteral queen bee. Oh my goodness, I haven't even introduced myself! Uh, hi, my name was I MEAN, IS, uh... is Grace Leonhardt."
  242. Etna: "And if puberty could involve growing wings. Or losing arms."
  243. Narrator: Both the Miltank and Tauros have mixed expressions to all that's said.
  244. Tauros: "That's...a bit much to take in."
  245. Etna: "We'll be here all night, unless you throw us out, so we can go over stuff again if you need it."
  246. Grace Leonhardt: "Yeah, it can be a bit much to take in. It's kinda several years worth of video game to cover. And so far things are accurate."
  247. Miltank: "Well, Michelle really liked Pokémon. I think the stress of all this made her forget some things or panic. Not that she could convey any of this to Austin..."
  248. Tauros: "Didn't Michelle own some Pokémon books though?"
  249. Miltank: "That's all the way back at the house though!"
  250. Etna: "We don't really have a heading, so we could help you get back to your house?"
  251. Etna: "That'll give me time to try and teach you how to speak with Austin, too."
  252. Tauros: "It might be best if we stay here until Austin and the girls are composed enough to travel."
  253. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...But the question is when do we go? It's still dark out and things might be lurking where we can't see them."
  254. Etna: "Well yeah. Wasn't planning on leaving tonight."
  255. Miltank: "As is, most things give them a deer-in-headlights moment. We've had a heck of a time getting to where we are now."
  256. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I think waiting until it's brighter, and then going to get the books ourselves and bring them back here, might be a wiser idea."
  257. Tauros: "That's a fantastic idea, Mars!"
  258. Miltank: "Oh I-I'm Reginald. And she's-he's-UGH-is Redonda."
  259. Etna: "Yeah, could well be. We'll need instructions to get there without a guide, though. Instructions that we can follow without road signs."
  260. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Because I'd rather not have you exposed to any fighting. Part of this new form involves...some sort of mastery over latent energy or something."
  261. Tauros: "We're the Rice family."
  262. Grace Leonhardt: "Acually... us going to get the stuff is a good idea considering. Is there anything else that you want us to grab from your home when we get there? Or anything nearby there that would be good to see about grabbing?"
  263. Miltank: "Well, as is we won't need too much from our house. A bag with some clothing and essentials for Austin would be the best."
  264. Tauros: "Beyond that, take what you need. Oh, but don't forget the Pokémon Books."
  265. Etna: "Thank you."
  266. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Bag with clothing and essentials for your children, plus the Pokemon books. Got it."
  267. Grace Leonhardt: "Can do! Simple enough. We'll also try to grab anything useful on the way back."
  268. Pierce Mars Oswell: "What do they look like, picture or color-wise? Since written language has apparently failed us."
  269. Combee: Combee floats into the room with a Salandit crawling along the ground. Combee has a steak wrap on its head and she looks around, "...Mom, dad. Where's Austin?"
  270. Miltank: "Austin's hiding in the cabinet again. Leave him alone for now."
  271. Combee: "What?! Do you know how hard it was to make this?!"
  272. Salandit: "Getting it on your head was harder than making it."
  273. Tauros: "Michelle, do you remember what your Pokémon books looked like?"
  274. Grace Leonhardt: "Uh, if it's any consolation, my friend here at least was able to talk to poor Austin."
  275. * Etna waves at the Combee and Salandit with a forelimb.
  276. Combee: "Uh, it was magazines with Pokémon on the cover. Lillie, Lunala and Cosmog I think."
  277. Salandit: Salandit waves back to Etna and then to the others.
  278. Etna: "I'll be able to recognize them pretty well, then."
  279. Etna: "I'm Etna the Aurorus. Nice to meet you. We're going to get some stuff for you all when the sun's up. And yeah, I can understand and talk with Austin--I'm hoping I can teach you guys how to too."
  280. Pierce Mars Oswell: "What does a Cosmog or Lunala look like, in layman's terms?"
  281. Grace Leonhardt: "So sun an moon shenanigan book. Gotcha. We're also going to try and pick up stuff from your house. Is there anything that we can grab when we're going that way? Oh uh, a cosmog is a little night sky looking puffball."
  282. Combee: "Uh, a uhm...coud and...uh...crescent swan?"
  283. Etna: "Cosmog is a little cloud with puffy cloud ears and a blackface smiley face emoji for a face."
  284. Etna: "Lunala's a bat with metal framing on its wings."
  285. Combee: "Well, I can't use much of anything now."
  286. Salandit: "On account of you not having anything?"
  287. Combee: "At least I can fly!"
  288. Pierce Mars Oswell: "All right, that'll do for a description, got it."
  289. Etna: "You'll be able to use things if/when you evolve, though."
  290. Combee: "But I won't be able to evolve! I can't fight anything!"
  291. Salandit: Salandit rolls her eyes, "Here we go again..."
  292. Etna: "We're not in the games. And even IN the games, things evolved against the regular rules in the 'wild'."
  293. Etna: "Who says you HAVE to fight?"
  294. Combee: "Uh, all of my experience in any of the pokemon games...?" Combee rolls her eyes, "I need to be level 20 to evolve. But if I can get experience without fighting that'll make things easier."
  295. Etna: "Still not actually in a videogame. We've been in a fight or two, and things don't work the same way."
  296. Combee: "It's more like that new one, isn't it? Pokken?"
  297. Etna: "Also, the anime had emotion play a stronger role than experience, if I remember right."
  298. Salandit: "So, if you're going to the house. I'd like the coolaid and tea, please."
  299. Etna: "Kool-Aid, Tea, Pokemon Books, and essentials for Austin. Sounds like we've got a shopping list going."
  300. Avara: brb
  301. Salandit: "Yesssss~"
  302. Avara: back.
  303. Etna: "So... y'know. Like I said, the anime had more emphasis on emotion and mental readiness than on fighting, even if fighting played a small role."
  304. Combee: "I didn't really watch the anime."
  305. Tauros: "Well, staying here for the night and moving during daylight hours sounds like the plan. You guys will need your strength if anything happens out there."
  306. * Etna nods.
  307. Miltank: "Belle, Michelle, why don't you two make something to eat for them as well. The smell of food might bring Austin out."
  308. Combee: "But I have his food on my heads!"
  309. Grace Leonhardt: "I'll help out if you need an extra set of hands... paws whatever."
  310. Combee: "PLEASE."
  311. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I'll pitch in if needed. Apparently my back doubles as a tray now."
  312. Etna: "I can help with cooling stuff, maybe? But I don't really have hands, and I'd probably get in the way. But hey, I can help ferry stuff around."
  313. Etna: "Being big and quadrupedal has perks."
  314. Narrator: So, Cooking falls under Cunning.
  315. Grace Leonhardt: Ayy
  316. Avara: attribute test challenge~ yay~
  317. Narrator: To assist in the Cooking, Grace can perform a Cunning (Cooking) test.
  318. Grace Leonhardt: 1+3+1+3=8
  319. Grace Leonhardt: Doh.
  320. DNA: Ouch
  321. Avara: at least you're only assisting, not heading the effort
  322. Avara: should be easier, relatively speaking
  323. Grace helps out Michelle and Belle with using the ingredients from Chipotle to make dinner for everyone. Their inexprience with preparing food and their new bodies made the ordeal a challenge. Some ingredients were burnt and wasted but after about an hours time of cooking, edible food was finally made. It didn't taste like Chipotle food but it was better than rations.
  324. You guys had real dinner and didn't have to consume any rations.
  325. DNA: Chipataple!
  326. Avara: yay actual food~
  327. Avara: and starbucks has some cake pops that could serve as dessert without any cooking prep
  328. Narrator: So, feast and rest until morning?
  329. DNA: Sure?
  330. DNA: I don't object
  331. Grace Leonhardt: ye
  332. * Avara upvotes.
  333. Narrator: You guys would be able to begin rest at 4:30am. For how long do you rest?
  334. Avara: enough to avoid tiredness penalties? we're pretty much in good condition stats-wise.
  335. Grace Leonhardt: Second that
  336. DNA: Remind me how much PP I'll get back from that. I'm almost at full so I'd want to know. Also when we wake up.
  337. Avara: and yay~ etna's no longer under Speed Penalty.
  338. Narrator: 1d6 + aura per hour. Or 8 hours for full pp.
  339. Avara: same with vit for hp?
  340. Narrator: 6 hours gives you back 10 + vit + level health.
  341. Avara: ah
  342. Avara: i'm only 2 off from max, so not a concern.
  343. Grace Leonhardt: I'm pretty much good already.
  344. Avara: how much time would be needed to be active for a full day without getting tired?
  345. Narrator: At least 6.
  346. Avara: then let's go for 6?
  347. Avara: want to leave without waiting too long, to avoid having to come back under dead of night.
  348. DNA: Six is good
  349. Avara: sounds good to you, Grace, DNA?
  350. Grace Leonhardt: Six is pretty solid. Catch that early daylight
  351. Etna: Etna is healed and gains 2 health.
  352. Avara: six hours it is.
  353. Grace Leonhardt: 40
  354. Pierce Mars Oswell: 31
  355. Etna: 39
  356. Narrator: That's recovered Power.
  357. DNA: My max PP is 18, so I think I'm good
  358. Avara: i was already at max power.
  359. Avara: NOW MY POWER IS MAXIMUM-ER
  360. DNA: MAX POWER, A NAME THAT YOU'D LOVE TO TOUCH
  361. Avara: dna you need to increase your power since you healed power.
  362. DNA: I did
  363. DNA: I just didn't modify the gauge
  364. Avara: using the macro will do that automatically.
  365. July 23rd, Sunday.
  366. 82 degrees F with a 68 degree Humidity.
  367. Wind speeds have increased to 10mph and the rain went from misting to a constant drizzle.
  368. DNA: I know, but the macro is slower for me
  369. DNA: (also I had to remove the data about Iron Defense as well, since that was a residual effect.)
  370. Also it's 10:30am.
  371. Narrator: I think instead of listing the humidity in degrees I'll just use basic descriptions.
  372. * Etna wakes up, having laid in a corner of the dining area. She yawns, and checks if everyone else is awake. "Bluh. It's all wet. At least that might help fight some of the fires, though."
  373. Etna: (( sounds good to me. ))
  374. Pierce Mars Oswell: Pierce wakes up, stretches. "Ah, that was a nice rest. I had a strange dream that everyone had--" And stops short. "Oh. ...right. It wasn't a dream." He curses silently to himself.
  375. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will sit up from the bedroll she got from the spiders, and streach. She'll quickly snap her head to the sides and audiable cracks can be heard. She'll yawn a few times, and try to wake up fully.
  376. Narrator: The parents of the Rice family awakens with you but let their children remain asleep. They'll provide you directions to the residential area and to their exact home.
  377. * Etna gets directions, and thanks the parents for letting them stay again. "Is everyone ready to go?"
  378. Pierce Mars Oswell: "...Yeah... Yeah, I'm ready."
  379. Uraruren: Uraruren will ride atop Etna and nods, "Sleep is for the weak."
  380. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will pack up her things, and roll her shoulders. "Yeah... I think I'm good to go."
  381. * Avara leads the way to glory the Rice Family Home.
  382. Avara: ... meant to be impersonated. you get the idea.
  383. Narrator: I'll take that as a cue to set off.
  384. DNA: Yes
  385. Grace Leonhardt: ye
  386. The constant drizzle has put out the flames - or perhaps they just merely burned out - through the daylight sky is clearly visible. The drizzle does nothing to stop the warmth of the summer day, however.
  387. The residential area is a good walk aways. Past both the museum and science center. Travel will cover 1.8 miles and should, at a decent pace, take about 35 minutes.
  388. The streets seem to be a tad bit more active than the night before though it seems to be only occupied with the occassional lone scavenger. The same couldn't be said about the skies though...
  389. Bird Pokémon flew high up overhead and circled some buildings or open areas.
  390. Narrator: Ssssssssssso, barring any tidbits. I suppose I can just roll random encounters and then describe the trip?
  391. Avara: sounds good. we'll generally be trying to avoid spider and jackal to birds, but there's only so much we can do.
  392. DNA: Very well.
  393. Narrator: Alright, considering I read ALL OF AEBPR1.5 logs today, I'll glare angrily at DNA.
  394. * Narrator glares at DNA.
  395. DNA: ...Why me?
  396. Narrator: Let's see if your voodoo encounter RNG shenanigans carry over.
  397. DNA: Oh
  398. DNA: That.
  399. Avara: you kinda caused us to roll no rando several times in a row
  400. DNA: Let's see. 73?
  401. Narrator: Well, this system uses 3d6.
  402. DNA: Ah.
  403. DNA: 14, then?
  404. DNA: Just means I have a noticeably higher chance to guess it right.
  405. Narrator: Whereas lower is weaker things - and low enough is no encounter.
  406. DNA: As opposed to 1/100.
  407. Narrator: 11
  408. Avara: not quite a wizard, DNA
  409. DNA: Not yet. Give me 4 years.
  410. Narrator: Hogwarts College of Chronology and Necrology?
  411. DNA: ...Sure, why not.
  412. Avara: that sounds awesome and terrifying.
  413. Grace Leonhardt: I'd totally take Chronology 101
  414. Narrator: Alright so...you manage to make it roughly 0.9 miles before...
  415. Narrator: Before apparently I whisper that information to someone.
  416. Grace Leonhardt: Grace will hesitate as she looks towards something for a few seconds squinting, before pointing it out. "Hey guys? I think some tiny bugs are flying at us...?"
  417. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Tiny bugs?" Pierce looks at the direction Grace is pointing.
  418. * Etna looks as well.
  419. Grace Leonhardt: Nodding her head, "Yeah... Yeah they are definitely super small, and coming at us."
  420. Narrator: Okay, moving over to BM001 I moved your tokens to the appropriate place.
  421. Uraruren: "I don't see anything."
  422. Etna: "Be on guard anyway."
  423. Cutiefly: "Halt!" Cutiefly suddenly screams from across the way, causing his entire posse to stop approaching.
  424. Grace Leonhardt: "They're near that black car, the one after the Eep!"
  425. Pierce Mars Oswell: "The Eep?"
  426. Cutiefly 5: "Travelers! Remove your bags and place them on the ground! Then, continue on your way!"
  427. Cutiefly 2: "Comply and no harm will come to you."
  428. Etna: "Oh, they're bandits."
  429. Etna: "I wasn't expecting bandits."
  430. Cutiefly 1: "We prefer to be called opportunists."
  431. Grace Leonhardt: "S-Sorry, didn't expect them to be as.. vocal as they were."
  432. Cutiefly 3: "I still liked fortunefinders..."
  433. Etna: "Bandits by any other name are still going to get crushed by falling rocks."
  434. Pierce Mars Oswell: "No offense, but aren't you all a little...small to be bandits and demanding things by force?"
  435. Cutiefly 4: "Tiny as we may be, you are entirely outnumbered."
  436. Pierce Mars Oswell: "You could find some other line of work that would be a lot more profitable - and a lot less dangerous."
  437. Etna: "I see like, three or four of you?"
  438. Cutiefly 3: "Don't make us come over there and take it by force! We're being nice with warnings and shit!!"
  439. Etna: "We're not giving you our things. You're being rude by trying to bandit it up when you really don't need to."
  440. Uraruren: "Oh, these guys are funny. Though yes, size isn't everything." Uraruren hops off of Etna.
  441. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Look, calm down. We're not out for a fight, and honestly neither are you. How about we just pass each other by, say hello, and each be on our merry way?"
  442. Cutiefly: "No dice!"
  443. Uraruren: "What're dice?" Uraruren asks.
  444. Cutiefly 5: "What're dice?" Cutiefly 5 asks.
  445. Cutiefly: "Ugh, just-just shut up!"
  446. Etna: "Heheheh."
  447. Etna: "So, kind of sounds like a mixed group of humans and non-humans. Bonding together over shared form?"
  448. Pierce Mars Oswell: "Guess so. Makes me wonder whose idea it was to be bandits."
  449. Pierce Mars Oswell: "It...really doesn't look like their line of work."
  450. Etna: "Probably not the opportunist or the fortune-finder."
  451. Pierce Mars Oswell: "I mean, don't they kinda look like pollinating insects?"
  452. Grace Leonhardt: "I think that's what they were in the game."
  453. Cutiefly: "Tch, make fun of us, will you?! I'll show you not ot underestimate us! Men! Atttaaaaaaack!"
  454. Etna: "But are you all men?"
  455. Half of the Cutiefly begins approaching.
  456. Cutiefly: "F-F-Fuu - and women! Dammit!"
  457. Grace Leonhardt: Point of order: Initiative equals 12
  458. Pierce Mars Oswell: Point of order: Initiative equals 18
  459. Etna: Point of order: Initiative equals 10
  460. Uraruren: Point of order: Initiative equals 4
  461. Cutiefly: Point of order: Initiative equals 14
  462. Cutiefly 1: Point of order: Initiative equals 12
  463. Cutiefly 2: Point of order: Initiative equals 10
  464. Cutiefly 3: Point of order: Initiative equals 10
  465. Cutiefly 4: Point of order: Initiative equals 14
  466. Cutiefly 5: Point of order: Initiative equals 6
  467. Etna: "What about those that don't identify as either?"
  468. Grace Leonhardt: "Do any of you identify as military hardware?"
  469. Pierce Mars Oswell: "You are having way too much fun with this."
  470. Pierce Mars Oswell has received initiative.
  471. DNA: I'm first? Holy crap
  472. Uraruren: "What's not a man-woman?"
  473. Etna: "It's either I mock them, or I take an entirely too angry approach because they're trying to hurt people I care about." Etna shrugs. "I'd rather bruise their egos than their organs."
  474. Grace Leonhardt: "It's a joke hun, don't think about it too much."
  475. * Pierce Mars Oswell steps to the side and uses Recycle.
  476. Pierce Mars Oswell: TN11
  477. Pierce Mars Oswell: Pierce Mars Oswell loses 1 power.
  478. Pierce Mars Oswell: 3+2+6+2=13
  479. * Pierce Mars Oswell is now under the effect of Recycle. End of turn.
  480. Narrator: You've got 17 minutes so make sure to note that somewhere on your token.
  481. DNA: I did
  482. Cutiefly: Cutiefly attempts to dance the dance!
  483. Cutiefly: Cutiefly loses 4 power.
  484. Cutiefly: 6+4+5+3=18
  485. Cutiefly: Cutiefly gains a boosted Aura, SDEF and Speed!
  486. Grace Leonhardt: Grace gives a golfclap for the display.
  487. Cutiefly 4: Cutiefly 4 fires a glowing pink ball at Grace! Targeting SDEF!
  488. Cutiefly 4: 2+1+2+0=5
  489. DNA: LOL
  490. Cutiefly 4: Cutiefly 4's attack suffers a penalty due to extended range. Not that it would've hit anyway...
  491. Grace Leonhardt has received initiative.
  492. Grace Leonhardt: (Are the cars still on fire?)
  493. Narrator: Ah right, the rain put them out.
  494. Narrator: Nope.
  495. Narrator: There yah go
  496. Grace Leonhardt: Grace rolls her shoulders, and starts to go towards the closer bug, and she'll use bone rush trying to get a swing at the little thing.
  497. Grace Leonhardt: Grace Leonhardt loses 3 power.
  498. Grace Leonhardt: 5+1+1+2=9
  499. Grace Leonhardt: [1d6+2}
  500. Grace Leonhardt: SON OFA
  501. Grace Leonhardt: 7
  502. Grace Leonhardt: Oh boy zipping forward
  503. Narrator: So you move up to 7 meters in a straight line. The first attack misses #4, so make a separate one against #5.
  504. Grace Leonhardt: 2+5+1+2=10
  505. Cutiefly 5: Cutiefly 5 just barely manages to wisp out of the way of the second attack.
  506. Grace Leonhardt: Blinking a few times, the bone staff disapears, and she blinks a few times when she realizes she zipped into the middle of them. "Oh boy, I've become error..."
  507. Cutiefly 1: Cutiefly 1 inhales and spits a glowing green beam at Grace! Targeting SDEF!
  508. Cutiefly 1: 4+1+4+4=13
  509. Cutiefly 1: Cutiefly 1 stunts and scores a lightnign attack, firing a second green beam at Pierce! Targeting SDEF!
  510. Cutiefly 1: 5+4+1+2=12
  511. DNA: Hit, only just
  512. Cutiefly 1: The attack hitting Grace hits for: 7 Bug Damage!
  513. Cutiefly 1: The attack hitting Pierce hits for: 8 Bug Damage!
  514. DNA: Sweet, both of those are resisted
  515. Grace Leonhardt: Hits me so does armor affect that too?
  516. Pierce Mars Oswell: Pierce resists it by... 4
  517. Pierce Mars Oswell: Pierce Mars Oswell loses 4 health.
  518. Cutiefly 1: Roll 1d6 to see how much you reduce it.
  519. Grace Leonhardt: Rioght
  520. Cutiefly 1: Your armor reduces the damage before your resistance does.
  521. Grace Leonhardt: 6
  522. Avara: DNA, -1d6 instead of half damage
  523. Avara: ah, nvm, you did roll it
  524. Avara: sorry.
  525. DNA: Yeah, it just happened to be a 4, heh.
  526. DNA: And Grace shrugged that off like a beast.
  527. Cutiefly 1: So uh, this is the SECOND time Grace has reduced damaeg to 0.
  528. Etna has received initiative.
  529. DNA: What is it with your campaigns and characters named Grace?
  530. DNA: I swear.
  531. Narrator: Grace is the name of warlords, warriors and badasses.
  532. Grace Leonhardt: Grace winces before the lightshow just disapates once it hits her. She'll blink a few times before raising an eyebrow with a 'Really?' at the offending bug.
  533. * Etna walks forward, getting a look at the situation. "Huh. So there are more of you than I thought." She then makes fluttery-eyes at Cutiefly 1. Refrigerate turns Attract into an Ice move.
  534. Etna: Etna loses 3 power.
  535. Etna: 6+5+3+3=17
  536. Narrator: Maximum-er rounds!

  540. Avara: alright.
  541. Cutiefly 2: Cutiefly 2 fires a beam of pink aura at Etna! vs. SDEF!

  558. DNA: I asked for end of round, so that's what it is
  559. Uraruren: Uraruren loses 5 power.
  560. Avara: alright
  561. Uraruren: 5+6+4+3=18
