  1. An "old" story that I never uploaded to pastebin because I didn't like it, hopefully -you- will.
  2.
  3. >"How in the world did I manage to get myself wrapped into this?", Twilight Sparkle thought to herself
  4. >The dark, gloomy forest stretched on before her, seemingly to no end.
  5. >Her flashlight shone brightly, piercing into the thick black, her only shield against the encroaching shadows.
  6. >The human contraption was hard to handle with mere hooves; thank Celestia for levitation magic.
  7. >Twilight reminded herself of why she was here.
  8. >The pages.
  9. >She had to find the pages, all eight of them.
  10. >That was what Anon had told her.
  11. >The night's eerie silence was broken by her hoofsteps as she braved deeper into the murky woods.
  12. >Vegetation was unnervingly sparse, except for the thick, sturdy trees all around her, reaching up into the sky, blocking out the moonlight.
  13. >Save the crunching of grass underneath her hooves, the only other sound was the gentle rustling of the wind.
  14. >A chill went down her spine.
  15. >Something was severely wrong with this place.
  16. >She'd seen the darkest recesses of the Everfree forest before, but this was something in a league of it's own.
  17. >The darkness around her was oppressive, it felt as if it was closing in, trying to consume her.
  18. >She tried not to think about it too much.
  19. >She had to be brave, for Anon.
  20. >Anon.
  21. >He had thought she would be too scared for this.
  22. >He was going to ask Rainbow Dash in her stead...
  23.
  24. >But this would show him, she thought.
  25. >Show him that she's every bit as brave as Rainbow Dash.
  26. >She shone her torch at the massive trunks infront of her, keeping her eyes open for any pages.
  27. >She'd get all eight pages and Anon would be proud of her.
  28. >The prospect of overshining Rainbow Dash in Anon's eyes made her feel warm and funny inside.
  29. >Well-motivated, she picked up her pace.
  30. >Just past the next bunch of trees, she comes upon an area with some rocky outcroppings.
  31. >Intrigued by the diversity of scenery, she quickly moved closer.
  32. >To her gleeful surprise, as she circled around the back of the rocks, she found a paper stuck a side of stone.
  33. >The haggard looking papper, was cover in frantically scribbled text.
  34. >"DON'T LOOK... OR IT TAKES YOU"
  35. >Twilight swallowed hard as the foreboding words stared up at her.
  36. >She chuckled nervously, thinking she had best get a move on.
  37. >The sooner she found all the pages, the sooner she could be out of here.
  38. >Leaving the rocks behind her, Twilight set out once again through the maze of trees.
  39. >Moving quickly, she passed by tree after tree.
  40. >With the sky hidden from sight, and without any landmarks, she had no good way to navigate her course.
  41. >Everything looked the same.
  42. >She felt so lost.
  43. >Twilight steeled herself; she couldn't let fear get a grip of her.
  44. >The only thing she could do was to keep moving, she'd find her way eventually... She hoped.
  45.
  46. >A few worried moments later, a large silo rose up from a small clearing ahead of her.
  47. >Just as she had thought, she finds another page on the side of the rundown silo.
  48. >She's chilled to her core as her eyes wanders the crude scribblings:
  49. >"ALWAYS WATCHES -- NO EYES"
  50. >The wind suddenly seems to pick up in speed.
  51. >Standing stil, listening to the wind, she could swear she hears a low rumble off in the distant dark.
  52. >A rumble that wasn't there before.
  53. >Was her imagination playing tricks on her?
  54. >What was it Pinkie always said?
  55. >Giggle at the ghosties?
  56. >Twilight forced a smile and a giggle.
  57. "Hi-hi..."
  58. "I'm not scared."
  59. >She reprimanded herself; she didn't sound very convincing.
  60. >No going back now, Twilight.
  61. >Just keep moving, she told herself.
  62. >And so she did.
  63. >Moving much faster now, she raced through the woods.
  64.
  65. >"CAN'T RUN."
  66. >"HELP ME"
  67. >Running blindly through the woods, Twilight had come across a towering, dead tree and a crumbled section of brick wall, both locations hiding another page.
  68. >She had to admit to herself that the pages didn't exacly paint a pretty picture.
  69. >She was now also certain that her surroundings changed for each page she found.
  70. >The wind was whipping harshly now and the previously distant rumble was growing closer.
  71. >She wouldn't let herself get discouraged though, she had a quest to complete.
  72. >Comming up on a fifth new landmark, an odd concrete tunnel, her legs were growing tired and her breath was hard and heavy.
  73.
  74. >As expected, she found her fifth page on the inside walls of the tunnel.
  75. >Twilight sighed with relief, only three more pages to find now.
  76. >She pulled the page off the wall to inspect it further.
  77. >It was a crude drawing of a weird stickfigure, looking like a tall human, standing among some trees accompanied by a single word of warning, "FOLLOWS".
  78. >As soon as her eyes wandered over the letters, she heard the sound of grass crunching just outside the tunnel.
  79. >She froze in fear.
  80. >Someone was outside.
  81. >Someone who had been following her.
  82. >Twilight gasped with realization.
  83. >She understood what the pages meant.
  84. >"ALWAYS WATCHES -- NO EYES"
  85. >"DON'T LOOK... OR IT TAKES YOU"
  86. >"CAN'T RUN"
  87. >"FOLLOWS"
  88. >"HELP ME"
  89. >The pages were warning her.
  90. >Warning her of the shadowy figure now silhouetted against the entrance of the tunnel.
  91. >It looked like a human of mismatched proportions; far too tall and far too slim.
  92. >The creature, whatever it was, stood perfectly still, watching her.
  93. >She began backing away slowly, towards the other exit of the tunnel.
  94. >Her hunter remained stationary.
  95. >Twilight threw a quick look over her shoulder, checking that the exit was still clear.
  96. >As she turned back to the creature her eyes went wide with fright.
  97. >It was closer now.
  98. >Much closer.
  99. >She felt a surge of fear unlike anything she'd experienced before.
  100. >Run.
  101. >Adrenaline pumped through her, hampering her thought process down to the single word:
  102. >Run! Run! Run! Run!
  103.
  104. >Galloping faster than she thought herself possible, she flew out the tunnel and dashed through the dark trees.
  105. >Without ever looking back, she ran as fast and as far as her legs carried her.
  106. >Eventually, when the adrenaline faded away, she stopped to catch her breath.
  107. >Her legs aching and her breath haggard, she shone her torch back down the way she had come from.
  108. >She sighed with relief; her predator was no longer in sight.
  109. >Twilight had a look around, trying to regain her bearings.
  110. >Her surroundings looked just as the rest of the woods had, dark and devoid of anything but short grass and thick trees.
  111. >Where was she?
  112. >Where should she go?
  113. >Should she try to find the rest of the pages or would it be best to just get out of here?
  114. >On that thought, where exacly was "out of here"?
  115. >Everthing looked the same and her torch was only able to pierce a short distance into the dark.
  116. >She could be a mere few feet away from the edge of the forest and she wouldn't even be able to tell.
  117. >Should she just start moving?
  118. >What if she ended up walking deeper into the woods?
  119. >She could end up wandering around for hours, if not days.
  120. >And with that... Thing out there, she wouldn't want to stick around for long.
  121. >Come to think of it, what sort of creature was that anyway?
  122. >Twilight had certainly never heard of anything like it before, despite considering herself modestly well-read.
  123. >Well, hopefully she wouldn't have to find out...
  124. >*CRUNCH*
  125.
  126. >The sound of grass being rustled behind her made Twilight go stiff.
  127. >Was it just the wind, or was it...
  128. >Only one way to find out.
  129. >She swallowed hard as she began to slowly turn around.
  130. >She was both relieved and apprehensive as she turned around and found nothing.
  131. >Maybe it was just the wind after all?
  132. >Deciding it best to start moving, she turns back again and is greeted by a familiar figure.
  133. >Right before her, mere inches away -It- stands.
  134. >A black suit towering over her, leading up to the white, featureless head.
  135. >The creatures long arms slowly extend towards her as shadowy tendrils spew forth from it's back.
  136. >Twilight graps in agony as loud static noises ring in her ears.
  137. >Her muscles clench as her whole body convulses under the scrutiny of the creature.
  138. >She collapes in a heap on the ground, the creatures arms growing ever closer.
  139. >Her vision starts to blur as the shadow descends upon her.
  140. >Then...
  141. >Game over.
  142.
  143. >"Pages: 5/8"
  144. >"Click to continue"
  145. >Your chortling laughter echoes throughout the library.
  146. >Twilight looks up at you with a scowl.
  147. >Twi: "T-that was not funny, Anon."
  148. >You can't stop laughing.
  149. >She had been so tense, yet so determined during the playthrough, appearing completely emerged into the game.
  150. >Guess ponies need som getting used to with vidya games.
  151. "It actually was kinda funny."
  152. >You help her get up from the floor; she had fallen out of her chair when Slenderman got her.
  153. >She chuckles light-heartedly.
  154. >Twi: "Okay, maybe a little bit funny."
  155. >She shoots you another frown.
  156. >Twi: "But you could have warned me."
  157. >You swoop an arm around her, pulling her close.
  158. "And miss out on -this- reaction?"
  159. >You smile at her.
  160. "Yeah, I don't think so."
  161. >She smiles back at you, nervously.
  162. >Twi: "Well... Uhmm.. Did I do good?"
  163. "You did great Twi"
  164. "Why, I don't think there's another pony in Equestria who could have done better."
  165. >With a soft giggle, her smile grows.
  166. >She's practically beaming.
  167. >Twi: "Good."
  168. >Twi: "Then it was worth it."
  169.
  170. The End
