- i sat by the dying dog today i didn't
- want to at first he's old and crotchety
- curmudgeonly he was always pissed about
- something ask my mom why she can't feel
- one of her fingers anymore he nipped it just a bit
- i had learned to stay away from the dog and here
- he was looking me dead in the face with a
- puppy-dog stare he whined a little call me
- sill but i swear it looked exactly like someone
- crying out for help for hospice
- i looked him in the eyes but i couldn't
- stand up to his eyes reddened with age so
- i sat there with him in front of the tv stroking his paw while he
- tried to drift off to sleep it's almost as if in his age and eternal
- canine wisdom he realized that i am here to help him
- and so a boy and his dog did sit in the living room
