  1. --2016 Vinesauce Charity Event Recap--
  2.
  3. So, yeah. Wow. That weekend really just happened.
  4.
  5. $80,840.65 in donations. Not counting merchandise. Not counting our Teespring drive.
  6.
  7. Seriously, just let your mind dwell on what we have managed to accomplish as a community in the short span of 48 hours. We busted through our goals FOUR times.
  8.
  9. Such incredible support was given freely by everyone here at Vinesauce: Our regulars and our newcomers, our subscribers and our lurkers, our content creators and our moderators. Those that have felt the wicked sting of terrible loss, and those who can empathize with such horrible pain. Individuals, one and all, brought under a simple banner that reads...
  10.
  11. Well, I guess that's the real question, isn't it? That banner could say a lot of things, could read very differently for each of us. "For the kids." For a cure." "In their memory." "Not one more.", and (one that I heard repeatedly this weekend) "FUCK YOU CANCER". You get the idea. This collective banner says many things, shares many meanings.
  12.
  13. I have one myself, my favorite of them all. It is simply: "Vinesauce Loves You".
  14.
  15. Through your donation messages, your tweets, your involvement, and your viewership, we have born witness to the scope and capacity of your love for this community. It has never failed to astound, and it continues year after year with endless enthusiasm, like the happy laughter of a child.
  16.
  17. Vinesauce Loves You.
  18.
  19. In just 3 short years, we have become a shining beacon of hope for others. We have now collectively raised over $160,000 for pediatric cancer research. We have worked to ensure continual research for a cure to cancer, and have emboldened the next generation of cancer survivors to fight ever harder through their own administration to eradicate cancer from this world.
  20.
  21. Vinesauce Loves You.
  22.
  23. I've received many touching messages of thanks for coordinating this event. For that, I thank you. I can't tell you how much it means to me. However, I want you know that I am even more enthused to hear from those that found strength, hope, acceptance, peace and/or determination through our streamers and our cause. I want you to feel empowered, to go out and do things that would normally scare you. All I had when we started this in 2014 was a big idea and a good dose of courage. I was terrified of screwing it all up, but look where we are now. If I can help make this a reality, I can only begin to imagine what you're capable of.
  24.
  25. Just remember, like I told you all before: You did this.
  26.
  27. Yes, all of you $5 donors that gave with sincerity and gusto.
  28.
  29. Yes, all of you artists who have helped to frame the Vinesauce narrative, both this weekend and throughout, in such beautiful ways.
  30.
  31. Yes, all of you who went to friends and family, who told them what we were doing, and got them to watch and donate.
  32.
  33. Yes, all of you who couldn't contribute and stuck with us for many hours and kept us company during our many streams.
  34.
  35. And yes, absolutely all of you.
  36.
  37. Don't ever downplay what you've given to this community or from yourself. Our success is not linked to the work of a few, but to the collective of us all. You make a difference in our lives, and you make a difference in the lives of children you may never meet, but will always be eternally grateful for your support.
  38.
  39. Vinesauce Loves You.
  40.
  41. A love for one another, for the moments we share together, and for the indefatigable joy of knowing we are helping to provide hope for those that need it the most.
  42.
  43. Thank you so much for making this happen.
  44.
  45. ---
  46.
  47. It is my hope that next year's event (yes, I'm already making plans) will see our records eclipsed once more, and our expectations shattered.
  48.
  49. I already have a few criticisms and ideas I'll be addressing next year, and I would love to hear from you. What you enjoyed, what you'd love to see, what you would consider changing; anything at all. Feel free to hit me up on Twitter: @HooteyOwl.
  50.
  51. Also, be sure to let all of your favorite streamers know how much you appreciate them. They gave a lot of themselves this weekend. Make 'em cry all happy-like, tell 'em I sent ya. ;)
  52.
  53. You'll be hearing from me again soon. After all, we gotta get a final count!
  54.
  55. Warmly,
  56.
  57. --Hoots
