  1. 1. Why is the catechism so important to Martin Luther?
  2.
  3. The catechism is so important to Martin Luther because other people have access to read it on their own. He mentions, "For we see to sorrow that many pastors and preachers are negligent in this respect and despise both their office and this teaching itself." He talks down on the pastors calling them "shameful gluttons" and "servants of their bellies would make better swineherds or dog keepers than spiritual guides and pastors."; he feels that they have lost their ways. Now everyone who can read it are "free from the Seven Hours" which you can read it every morning, noon, and evening. Martin Luther read and study the Catechism daily.

  7. 2. To whom is the Catechism to be taught, and by whom is it to be taught?
  8.
  9. "Yet I do as a child who is being taught the Catechism. Every morning, and whenever else I have time, I read and recite word for word the Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, the Creed, the Psalms, etc." The Catechism is to be taught to anyone, but by him or herself. Mainly the Christian religion teaching of children and adult converts. Martin Luther wants all Christians to exercise themselves in the Catechism Daily, and constantly put it into practice, guarding themselves witht he greatest care and diligence against the poisonous infection of such security or vanity. "Let them continue to read and teach, to learn and meditate and ponder."

  13. 3. What matters, issues, or ideas does the Catechism teach?
  14.
  15. The catechism teaches you the Ten Commandments of God, The Chief Articles of Our Faith, Thee prayer, or our father which Christ taught, and the Sacrament [of the Altar]. The Ten Commandments. It teaches you the ideas of the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

  19. 4. What purposes does the catechism serve in the reformation of Luther.
  20.
  21. Luther thinks that the priests has lost their ways and that the catechism would help other people learn about god with daily readings.
  22.
  23.
  24.
  25. 5. What concerns on the part of Luther do these purposes reflect?
  26.
  27. I think the concerns Martin Luther has on the Catechism are people who need reasoning and guidance for what the pastors are preaching to them. When they read the Catechism, they are able to repeat what they have heard and give a good, correct answer when they are questioned.
