  1. The Carnival of Dreams
  2.
  3. At first, it is completely dark. The servant of Hecate enters, with her a dimly burning torch. Slowly, the dim light brightens and sets the stage on fire. It became a kaleidoscope of color.
  4. Where am I again? I wonder.
  5. The fairy, with her brightly burning torch, calls out, “Tonight, I present to you, a pantomime of phantasmagoria – a extraordinarily out-of-the-ordinary corroboree!”
  6. The cheerful fairy wiggles the brightly burning torch, and snow-white doves of light dance across the air, casting macabre shadows on invisible performers. The shadows waltz on the sparkling silver stage in ectasy and jubilee, possessed by their own spirit.
  7. One two three, one two three, one two three. Their danse macabre enraptures, enamors, encaptures.
  8. Where am I again? I wonder.
  9. “Does that really matter?”
  10. Before I know it, someone calls my name. I look around and about, and fathoms beneath me I see the sparkling stage. I hear a strange laugh, and somehow it makes me laugh too.
  11. The clock’s hands have struck twelve, but there’s no signs of the curtains falling. I hear a faint voice cry out distinctly, “The carnival of dreams will go on forever!”
  12. The fairy greets me. “Fly!” she cheers. Her voice pushes me off.
  13. The dancing silhouettes continue their performance without a care in the world. One two three four, one two three four, one two three fall, one two three fall.
  14. The shining stage looms upon a revolving kaleidoscope of color before fading into darkness.
  15. Where am I again? I wonder.
  16. Does it really matter?
  17. It remains dark, but now I’ve become dripping wet. A stagnant, macabre river lays before me, no ferryman in sight. Where has the circus gone?
  18. Further across, on the sparkling silver shore, I faintly make it out….
  19. The fairy, with her brightly burning torch, turns to me and gives me a wry smirk. Flames fly in flagellant applause.
  20. Where am I again? I wonder.
  21. “Does it really matter?” asks the fairy.
  22. The fairy wiggles her brightly burning torch and snow-white doves of light dance across the dark night sky.
  23. The waves’ silver surface sparkles in reflection, waltzing in ectasy and jubilee. My spirit rejoices. One two three, one two three, one two three. What a dance this is!
  24. Where am I again? I wonder.
  25. That’s right, this must be paradise!
  26. “The carnivals of dreams will wash it all away!” the servant of Hecate proclaims, in her hand the brightly burning torch.
  27. Let it all wash away! The night is neverending!
  28. One two three, one two three, one two three. My shadow leaps in ectacy and jubilee, possessed by its own spirit. My voice reveberates through the air: “The Carnival of Dreams shall go on forever!”
