This guide will attempt to clearly explain a method for the safe and efficient extraction of LSA from Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds. As improvements are made in the method, this text file will be updated.

INTRODUCTION:

LSA can be thought of as a sort of "baby brother" of LSD. In fact, LSD is produced by chemically altering LSA. However, the effects of LSD and LSA are distinctly different. LSA produces more of a body load and less visual hallucinations.

Many people enjoy LSA's effects, though it can often be accompanied by unwelcome effects such as nausea and vomiting. Users attempt to avoid these negatives by using extractions rather than eating LSA-containing seeds directly.

The most popular source of LSA is Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds, which can be legally purchased online by many retailers. (A few sources will be outlined at the end of this document.)

This guide explains the non-polar/polar method of extraction, which has been found to produce the cleanest and most effective results. As much as possible, each step will be explained so that you not only understand how to perform the extraction, but how it works as well.

- High-Proof Alcohol (Everclear 190 works extremely well.)
- Petroleum Ether (Lab grade is best, but some have successfully used Naptha when Pet. Ether was not available.)
- 2 Mason Jars
- Coffee Filters (Unbleached filters are best.)
- Hawaiian Baby Woodrose Seeds (Number dependent on dose.)

IMPORTANT NOTES:

LSA is sensitive to light and heat, and will be destroyed by both. Thus, it is important to protect your seeds and solutions from sources of light and heat. This process is best done with minimal lighting.

Petroleum Ether is highly flammable and quite toxic, and it produces very strong vapors. Be sure to read the Material Safety Data Sheet and take proper precautions to ensure safe handling. PROCESS:

The extraction process requires three basic phases: Non-Polar extraction, then Polar extraction, then Preparation. Non-Polar extraction uses a non-polar solvent (petroleum ether) to bind to unwanted chemicals in the seeds. These chemicals are removed from the seeds when the solvent is filtered out. Next, Polar extraction uses a polar solvent (alcohol) to bind to the LSA, removing it from the seeds. Once the LSA is removed, the alcohol can be filtered out and the seeds discarded. The alcohol can then be mixed with another beverage and consumed, or it can be allowed to evaporate more fully, forming a gel, which can be consumed or kept in a cold, dark place for future use.

Non-Polar Extraction:
This first step uses a non-polar solvent (Petroleum Ether) to remove many of the substances from the seeds that cause nausea.

1. Using a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle, crush the seeds into a fine powder.
2. Dump the seeds into a CLEAN mason jar.
3. Add petroleum ether to the jar, only enough to cover the seeds and then some. Seed pulp should be fully submerged with a little room to spare.
4. Secure the lid firmly on the jar, then wrap the jar in aluminum foil in order to minimize light leakage.
5. Allow the seeds to soak for 2 or 3 hours, giving the petroleum ether time to work. Store in a dark, cool place while soaking, and shake the jar once every 45 minutes to an hour.
6. After soaking, use the coffee filters and second mason jar to filter the petroleum ether from the seed pulp. The left-over petroleum ether can be re-used a few more times for future extractions. Be sure to store it in a safe place, or (if you choose) dispose of it properly.
7. Once the seed pulp has been filtered from the ether, place it in a cool, dark place to dry. This can take some time, but it is crucial that you completely evaporate ALL of the petroleum ether from the seed pulp.
8. When the seed pulp is completely dry, it should have a sandy texture and no smell.

Polar Extraction:
The second step uses a polar solvent (alcohol) to extract the LSA from the seed pulp after non-polar extraction is complete.

1. Dump the dry seed pulp into a CLEAN mason jar.
2. Add 1oz of alcohol (Everclear 190) to the jar.
3. Secure the lid firmly on the jar, then wrap the jar in aluminum foil in order to minimize light leakage.
4. Allow the seeds to soak for at least 2 days in a cool, dark location. Be sure to shake the jar at least three or four times a day.
5. After soaking, use the coffee filters and another mason jar to filter the alcohol from the seed pulp. You'll want to get as much alcohol out of the pulp as possible, as the alcohol contains the LSA.
6. Once the alcohol is completely filtered out, you may discard the seeds and keep the alcohol.

Preparation:
This is the final step, in which you prepare the alcohol (which contains the LSA) for consumption. Remember to keep the alcohol in a cool, dark location until you are ready to consume it. You have a few options for consumption:

You can mix the alcohol with a beverage and consume it as a mixed drink (like a martini). Or, if you want, you can allow the alcohol to completely evaporate, leaving behind a thick paste containing the LSA. This paste can be combined with a beverage for consumption, or it can be mixed with a little flour (to thicken it) and put into gel-caps (pill capsules) to be taken like pills.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Many people have been exploring additional options for the preparation of LSA, though there have been few scientific studies on the subject. As this guide evolves, we hope to uncover the truth or falsehood of these various claims. However, rather than withold this information, we have decided to include the information so that individuals (such as yourself) might experiment with these options and return with useful information about your experiences. The more we explore, the better our understanding will be, and the more enjoyable our trips will become.

Mint: Some people have said that adding peppermint extract or mint leaves to the alcohol during polar extraction can lead to a cleaner, more enjoyable trip. Some say that the peppermint converts LSA to LSH, but accounts are varied.

Lemon: Like mint, people have claimed that lemon can help convert LSA to LSH and make a cleaner trip.

Garlic: Many people believe that trace amounts of cyanide are responsible for the nausea experienced during an LSA trip. Garlic is said to absorb and remove these particles, reducing the nausea experienced during the trip. Typically this is done with a cold-water extraction, but it is possible that adding garlic during the last 30 minutes of the polar extraction (before filtering) could effectively reduce nausea. (Using a Non-Polar/Polar extraction reduces nausea already, so this is likely unnecessary.)

Mustard: It has been mentioned in online forums that dry, powdered mustard seeds (about 1tsp) can be added to the paste left over after evaporating the alcohol, in order to produce a stronger, cleaner trip (much like mint or lemon). It is advised to allow the mustard seed to sit a while before adding flour and placing into a gel-capsule. (This is only really useful if you plan to take the LSA in pill form. It's ill-advised to eat a teaspoon of mustard powder straight-up.)
