  1. You clamber out from the cave and arrive to an eerily familiar setting. The foliage is that which you’ve always known. The sounds are those you’ve always heard, but never listened to. Eventually you come to realize: this is home. It’s not the exact place you know, its not your house, or your town, but it is home. You clamber about, looking for something familiar, something to gain your bearings from. The sun is stil rising, as you can tell from the feeling of the cool air. Standing after crawling for so long gives the sensation of both pain and pleasure in your lumbar. You look around, and still see nothing of familiarity, except for the feeling that you have always been here. The landscape gives you no clues either, and there is nothing in the distance to provide any hints. Without anything else to do, you begin walking. Your legs feel some new energy, as if they are trying to get somewhere they know will lead to rest. But still, you are unsure of anywhere that you are going. As you continue you begin to smell a familiar smell. The nose, after all, keeps the best memories. You can recognize it as something from your childhood, something fond and nostalgic, but you are unable to remember exactly what it’s from. Without any other clues, you follow the scent. You realize that you have seen no people. There should be people, you are sure of that. But you can neither see nor hear them. You continue walking, until you begin to feel the fruitlessness of your actions. You look around at the barren environment, and still nothing. For a moment, you lower you head tand put your hand on your forehead, when you look up, there is a small child, maybe twelve years of age, off in the distance. Being that it is the only other soul you’ve seen since arriving in this strange yet familiar world, you begin chasing after it.The child begins to run. You follow in pursuit. It turns and runs around obstacles in its youth. But being several years older you easily catch up. As you approach you feel a strange sensation, as if you are chasing yourself. As you turn around the corner of a building, sure enough, standing in plain sight, is the twelve year old version of yourself. Dumbfounded, you stand and stare for several moments, unsure of what to do or what could possibly lead to this moment. Finally, young you smiles, turns, and continues walking. “Come on now, you’re not going to live forever,” you hear yourself say. Reluctantly, you follow. Young you leads you for awhile, until you come up on an old building, with the facade being a poor representation of greco-roman architecture. The lettering on the building has since deteriorated, but in its shadow you can make out that the building is an old school. As you make your way up the stairs young you turns around and looks directly at you. “Do you know where you are yet?” young you asks. Still in a state of shock, you hesitate as you think of an answer, but in a moment young you continues. “You’ll figure it out soon enough.”
  2. You leave the room, and go in the direction specified. As you pass by the run down lockers, you come upon a mirror hanging up on the wall. In it you can see the entirety of yourself. Standing there, staring at yourself, you feel an immense sense of dread. It is a feeling of intense bitternes, painful longsome, and absolute hatred. You’re not quite sure if there’s any correct word in english that fully describes it. You walk, slowly, closer to the mirror, staring deep into your own eyes, until you are standing just a foot away. For awhile you look deeply into your eyes, looking for a cause to this feeling, but find nothing to abate it. With forceful suddenness, you look away, and hurry to the library which is not far off. With several deep breathes the feeling wears off, and you enter the large two story room with a sense of awe. The library itself is huge. The center of the room opens up to a glass ceiling and around the edges the second story is large enough for bookshelves two deep between the railing and the wall. Many of the shelves lay empty, never filled. In the center of the room is a singular table, and upon it a note. It is here you find the decoding key.
  3. With that you are left alone, as young you enters through the door. After a moment, you follow, and as you enter into the foyer, you realize that you are still alone, and the youthful version of yourself is again lost. Confused, you stand still for a moment, and even more still when you begin to hear footsteps. They grow louder until a figure emerges around the corner. It is an old man, who stands there for a moment eyeing you down. He smiles and you realize that it is an older version of yourself. “Haha, here you are.” old you says, “Come now, while you are still young.” He continues walking and without much else to do, you follow. He leads you down the run down hallway. The lockers on the walls are all old and half of them have been either ripped open or decayed so that they can no longer shut. Eventually you are led to what appears to be an old science classroom, complete with lab tables and instruments of varying types scattered on them. In the center of the room stands a strange chrome tube. Wires and tubes hang off from it in all directions. You can see that it stands only a foot high, and roughly three feet in diameter. The base is slightly larger. Around the edge you see what appears to be runic lettering, and in the middle, the familiar symbol from before. “I see your curiousity growing, you must be wondering what this is,” old you says and emits a slight chuckle. “It’s your ticket out of course. Out of here at least. But of course it won’t be that easy, Rome wasn’t built in a day. You see the device is all set up, ready for you to use, but you’ll have to do something first. It requires some codes, nothing too difficult. You should be able to find them easily down the hall in the library.” Old you moves and stands on the pedastol. “And as soon as you do that, you can stand right here and we’ll be on our way.” Old you steps down and motions towards the door with his hand. “Go on now, you won’t find much else to do here,” he says
