- A quick explanation of the list.
- A card which is Forbidden/Banned may not be included in a deck.
- A card which is Limited may have only 1 copy included in a deck.
- A card which is Semi-Limited may have up to 2 copies included in a deck.
- With general bans, such as whole archetypes, this largely refers to decks which are that archetype only; splashing a few cards from a banned archetype here or there probably won't break anything.
- Please be advised that the administration reserves the right to ask you to drop or modify a deck. If you think this right is being abused, come and talk to me. The point here is to make things fun; if one deck is just curbstomping everything, it's going to get boring for everyone, including the person running it. If you want to haggle a point with me, feel free. Banlists have been changed over less.
- Bear in mind that this banlist is for the player characters; NPC villains controlled by staff may be using cards on this list, because what YGO villain didn't use complete horseshit cards?
- The following decks are banned:
- Bujin. Unfortunately, even without Crane, their newer support is kind of amazing and makes them very hard to play against for most RP decks. If only.
- Burning Abyss. Sadly, at the moment, they're way too good as a Rank 3 archetype.
- Fire Fists. "Rush ALL THE THINGS!"
- FTK/OTK/Lock decks. Yes, I know it happened in the anime a few times, but it's very boring to try and RP against - and do you really want to write out the entirity of an FTK hand?
- Harpies. It's either this, or everyone starts siding Cloak & Dagger.
- Ghostricks. As much as we all like them, they're honestly really boring to play against, and they shut down a lot of decks that would otherwise be fun.
- Mermail. These are actually currently going out of style, but for now they're off-limits.
- Satellaknights. Because we really need LIGHT!Warrior!Blackfeathers all over again.
- Shadoll. As really cool as these cards are, they also completely shut down most decks, so they're out.
- Quiz. Yes, I'm banning the Quiz archetype. Yes, the new support is ridiculous. Yes, I feel ashamed.
- The following decks (meaning decks which are largely pure iterations of this archetype) are banned in conjunction with specific cards:
- Dark World, with Dragged Down to the Grave.
- Hieratics, with Gaia Dragon the Thunder Charger.
- Infernoids, with Reasoning.
- Necloths, with ritual Djinn.
- Qli, with Performapal Trampolynx, Skill Drain, and/or Qliphort Scout.
- Any deck except Artifacts, with Artifact Sanctum.
- Any deck except Sacred Beasts, with Lost Paradise.
- Any deck except Toons, with Toon Kingdom.
- The following cards are banned:
- Apple of Enlightenment. There are a lot of decks this card could be really good in, most notably Artifacts.
- Beast Burial Ritual. Beasts really don't need help to plus hard.
- Bye Bye Damage. This card is stupid. Really, really stupid.
- Circle of Life and Circle of Terror. Really, who the fuck designed these?
- Chaos Blast. Machines do not need SUPER Foolish w/nuke.
- Convert Ghost. I like Kikoutei too, but effectively-free Herald of Perfection isn't very legit.
- Cursed Twin Doll. This one isn't so much because the effect is broken, but because I don't want to have to adjuciate arguments over it, because it's a fucking weird card. Anything you could use it for is super degenerate anyway.
- D-Force. It's possible to set D-Force up on top of the opponent's deck, preventing them from drawing cards.
- Destiny Overlay. If this was a Trap card, it would actually be okay, but as a spell, it has serious Potential(TM).
- Evilswarm Ophion. Why yes, I would like to lock your field and tutor my rape-tier backrow.
- Infinity Force. Even as a gimmick play, defensive Raigeki isn't happening.
- Last Question. Heads, I win; tails, you lose.
- Majesty's Fiend. Same as Vanity's Emptiness.
- Number 95: Galaxy Eyes Dark Matter Dragon. Fuck. This. Card.
- Persona Shutter Layer 2. Read the card. Now read it again and pretend it isn't OP as shit.
- Raigeki. Rly.jpeg
- Re-qliate. Why yes, Qliphort should get Skill Drain twice.
- Sad Story - Atrocious Day. Sorry, no SUPER Decree for you.
- Shining Sly. Guess what 99% of cards aren't immune to? Being Tributed.
- The Soul-Binding Gate. "I hope you didn't plan on summoning monsters~!"
- Xyz Colosseum. In standard meta, this is fine, but in the more open game state an RP strives for, this is hideous.
- Vanity's Emptiness. Not in an RP setting, my friends.
- The following cards are Limited:
- Big Return. This card is secretly amazing.
- Masked HERO Darklaw. Macro on legs, no thank you.
- Power Wall. You know what isn't happening @3? SUPER MILL that is also damage reduction.
- Number 62: Prime Photon Dragon. I'm somewhat on the fence about this card, but it's been amazing in every RP I've ever seen it played in, so for now it's out.
- Number 101: Silent Honors ARK Knight. Great tech in almost every deck; to 1 with you.
- Royal Prison. Completely hoses every graveyard-reliant deck (i.e. almost every deck).
- Zen Garden. This is less about it completely hosing WATER decks and more about the pump it gives to Plant decks, which really don't need it.
- The following cards are Semi-Limited:
- The Necloth of Trishula. It's less consistent than Trish, but it's still Trish. Probation.
