  7. I thought putting up a thread that can be used for brainstorming ideas for rp, events, or anything we could do to get people involved in things. Maybe even draw more people in. Could be productive, this way we can communicate with each other on some level, instead of trying to catch people IC and making no progress.

  9. Our factions are all struggling for numbers, considering the player counts lately it's not surprising. So how can we fix it?

  11. Generating more conflict between warring factions will normally draw people in. But currently we have a war that has no participants.

  13. Also please keep this in a positive direction, keep the hate for IC.

  15. I've got a few thoughts that will follow shortly, just figure I'd throw this up while I collected them.

  22. Planned to have this posted same day, but RL happens, better late than never.

  24. So obviously player count is an issue, but on top of that many of the characters that are on the who list are alts of existing players so recruiting can be difficult. People join factions and get bored and then move on to something else. So basically we are just swapping back and forth when it comes to cabal membership. The only way to remedy this is to keep the existing players interested and to generate a pull for new or returning players.

  26. I’m going to throw a few things out there; these are just my thoughts. They are not meant to be aimed at anyone or to offend anyone. I’m just generalizing what I think.

  28. RP – Everyone ends up falling into their own little groups and at times it can be hard for others to find a way into this. Which leads to a lack of consistent RP across the board. I think that trying to involve more of the player base in what is going on would help some of this. GRP’s are always fun any time I’ve been involved in one, it might be something we should look into trying to do. A summit for all the Kingdoms, or Demon hoards or something. Also…the lack of RP between warring factions is almost sad. Besides the normal “Hey, you suck” or being flat out ignored, there hasn’t been anything constructive in a while. If you’re going to mount an attack at least be willing to RP after, it makes it more fun for everyone.

  30. PK – Obviously PK is more of a draw for a lot of the older and more seasoned players than RP. Even this is lacking, and I’ll admit right off I’m not very good at PK. But I was just starting to enjoy learning about it before this last lull started. Honestly, I never thought I’d enjoy PK but what I’ve been involved in has been fun so far, for me anyways. I mean I know firsthand the time it takes to re=equip after a full loot and how frustrating it can be because it takes you out of the scenario most of the time until you have decent gear again. But it’s like a coin toss, most come back stronger, and others don’t come back. I’m not saying not to loot either, just be conscious of what you’re doing. If you or your members can’t us it, don’t take it. I’m not as experienced in this area as most of you, so how can we generate more quality PK?

  32. PVE – This is what it is, I think. You either have the players to make the trips or you don’t. More and more people are trying to learn how to navigate different places and most are good teachers when it comes to this stuff. We all just have to remember to be patient. Trips that are common for some are new to others.

  34. So with all this being said, I think that the best way to spark anything is to figure out an RP/PK that all of us can be a part of. Each faction having their own piece to it. Those who aren’t in a faction should be able to have some part too. Any ideas or things you’ve seen in the past that you found interesting that we could draw from?

  36. Me personally I remember the ball the Empire threw way back, not to mention the demons that roamed around for a while. I’ve seen several weddings that had a huge draw and ended in final strikes. Sprite swashies going on a rampage over the loss of their mate and it took nearly everyone to stop him. Nerina burning to the ground, hell even tea parties with Radi, all of these were awesome and left a mark on people.

So, the biggest issue that I normally see with GRPs that don't really incorporate everyone, is that a few of the more experienced and "important" characters are given hints or a task or something to do. They then take their little gang and since it's usually good vs evil, each side has their gang and they refuse admittance to knowledge that they've uncovered for fear that they will be giving some info to their enemy. So what goes from a global RP really just ends up being a 2 group RP/PK.

  46. What I would like to see is a somewhat drawn out GRP concept that has easily obtained info on how to get involved. Such as a post on the astral boards that would lead you to a NPC that is easily accessible who gives you the first task to get you started. Something that everyone can join either alone or together, and move at their own pace. Then as the tasks get more difficult people that may not even know each other will be more inclined to ask for help from someone that is either stuck on the same task or from someone that has already done said task.

  48. I also think that it shouldn't really be a race. You don't want people who can't log on as often to feel like they shouldn't even bother participating because by the time they can even log on someone has already completed the RP and there's nothing left for them. I would suggest a reward much like the Pilgrimage quest, a couple awesome consumables with perhaps a permanant item that only you can use but can purchase again if you happen to lose it.

  50. I don't really have any ideas on the fluff part of the RP, but I think that if we can get away from the super fast, only experienced twink players that YIM eachother can complete sort of thing. Then we can start involving more people, especially newer players or simply inexperienced adventurers to join the GRP and feel as if they've made an impact or at least that they accomplished something and have something neat to show for it.
