Suikoden IV 108-star New Game+ FAQ

Q:  Why New Game+?
A:  Because you can skip cutscenes in New Game+ in Suikoden IV.  This cuts off a LOT of time, making the game beatable in a reasonable amount of time.

Q:  So what carries over in New Game+?
A:  All non-essential/non-story items and money carry over.  The entire world map is also revealed.  Equipped items, levels, weapon levels, fast-travel points, and optional characters recruited do not.  I have farmed out items that I believe will help me beat the game as fast as possible, across two playthroughs.  The speedrun starts off the clear data of the second playthrough.

Q:  What sorts of items?  And why two playthroughs?
A:  The key items:  99 Mega Medicines and Jizo Clocks (purely for safety; I should not need many of them if any), 36 Speed Rings (each character can equip three accessories), 9 sets of Ogre armor (huge boost to STR, and a full set grants you Fury status), 8 Double-Strike Runes (increase damage dealt and taken), and various other things (including 2 Lightning Runes, 3 Killer Runes, a set of Venus armor, and a set of Mermaid armor).  I need two playthroughs' worth of items because I want two Thunder Runes, and you can only obtain one Thunder Rune per playthrough.

Q:  Which characters will you use?
A:  Lazlo, Keneth, Jewel, Chiepoo, Jeane, Mitsuba, Viki, Lino En Kuldes, Kika, Ameria, Gretchen, and Ted.  Other characters may make brief appearances for recruiting or rune cannon purposes.

Q:  What is Suikoden Day?
A:  Suikoden Day is a holiday created by the Suikoden Revival Movement, a social media group.  Its goal is for Suikoden fans to show their love for the series.
