Sons of Daedalus: Clockwork Marvels

The creation of clockwork mechanisms has long been considered an art blah blah YOU CAN MAKE NEATO CLOCKWORK ALCHEMY-FUELED ROBOT TOYS!!!!


I need ideas for 'blueprints', basic catagories of common clockwork robot devices.  They are wound by motors powered by alchemically-derived fuel sources.  They possess an extremely limited AI function based on special crystal 'brains' that can be hooked to the gears.  Basically, the smarter they are the larger they should be.  A mechanism as smart as a something like a dog would be massive, we're talking the size of a large house at least...and even then, making it that small would probably make it impossible to maintain.  Try to keep away from just doing a clockwork guard dog or something.

Examples:

Typesetters: Basically an automatic typewriter, except it's smart enough to understand grammar and such.  Can take dictation.  About the size of a large typewriter.

Scuttlers: crab or spider-shaped.  About the size of a cat.  Any good airship will have 3 or so on board, since they can perform basic maintenance tasks mid-flight.  They just scuttle all over the ship's outer hull.  Smart enough to do things like recognize cracks and patch them.

Manhacks: Remember HL2? like that.

Clockwork Turret: Shoulder-mounted turret  Requires 'friendlies' to wear special crystals to ensure they don't get shot by accident.  Probably pretty heavy.

Clockwork Scope: Firearm or crossbow-mounted device.  Has to be tailored to the specific weapon it's going to be used on.  Scope assists in aiming such weapons.

Clockwork Bird: Small toy that can be re-purposed as a spying tool.  Can fly to a location it has been before, stay there for an allotted amount of time, and then return to the launch point.  Records sound.  Larger ones, the size of hawks or eagles, can also record visual information, a few photos.


'Raw' Parts: Generic parts that can be made.  Time is spent making parts, more time is better parts.  parts are assembled according to a blueprint, to create one of the above thingies.  Better parts = bonuses.
