- [7/28/2016 8:11:14 AM] Syrus Seto: Still good to proceed?
- [7/28/2016 8:11:34 AM] Juan Dorta: Yep!
- [7/28/2016 8:12:52 AM] Juan Dorta: Ah, by the way, I'm calculating I'll need to leave in something around an hour to an hour and a half, due to lunch.
- [7/28/2016 8:13:09 AM] Juan Dorta: If we don't finish now, I guess we can continue later?
- [7/28/2016 8:13:21 AM] Syrus Seto: Swell! As mentioned in the PM, this typically takes anywhere between thirty minutes and two hours, but we can try and bear down through it. Sure we can cut through it in that amount of time. But yep, continuing later is totally acceptable.
- [7/28/2016 8:13:35 AM] Juan Dorta: That's perfect, then. :)
- [7/28/2016 8:15:16 AM] Syrus Seto: Right, most of the following questions will be posed in a, "what would you do in this situation," format. Answer them however you feel best, open-ended, step by step, it's entirely up to you. The end-goal here is to give the other staff on recruitment some insight into how you handle issues. Note that some information will be provided with the questions for situations, but additional information will be provided if you explicitly ask for it.
- [7/28/2016 8:15:21 AM] Syrus Seto: When you're ready, first question.
- [7/28/2016 8:15:43 AM] Juan Dorta: Hm... Alright! Ready.
- [7/28/2016 8:17:05 AM] Syrus Seto: A bald, thirty year old assistant joins the server, named "Donald Trump." After checking their player age against the database, you discover they have been around for three days approximately. They begin to head towards tool storage and begin dragging around a fueltank. What do you do?
- [7/28/2016 8:20:12 AM | Edited 8:28:37 AM] Juan Dorta: Well. First of all, given that he's pulling a fuel tank and poses an imminent theat, I'd freeze them on the floor and approach them friendly, kindly asking him what his plans are with the tank. Once the problem has been solved, I'd then proceed to unfreeze them and let the other players resume RP with him as I tell him that his name is against the rules and that he needs to change it, asking them for a new one a bit later.
- [7/28/2016 8:22:14 AM] Juan Dorta: If after unfreezing him and giving him a verbal warning he still goes ahead and blows the tank up, I would definitely take harder measures against him.
- [7/28/2016 8:22:42 AM] Syrus Seto: Go on.
- [7/28/2016 8:23:43 AM] Juan Dorta: I'm not aware if you use any kind of chart for the measures you take against players, but I would probably go with a temporary ban of a few days, as he was given a warning.
- [7/28/2016 8:24:14 AM] Syrus Seto: We have player, notes, yes. Anything we see, good or bad, but usually bad, as well as warnings and bans, are all logged in the player's notes.
- [7/28/2016 8:27:16 AM] Juan Dorta: Hm. I would definitely note down his intentions if he tells me he was going to blow it up but decides not to do it after the warning.
- [7/28/2016 8:28:25 AM] Juan Dorta: Aand... I think that would fix the situation, in one way or another. We can't know if the guy was dragging the tank for other reason before the first contact, so we can't just go ahead and assume he was going to blow it up.
- [7/28/2016 8:28:38 AM] Syrus Seto: Alright. Good. Next question, if you're ready.
- [7/28/2016 8:28:44 AM] Juan Dorta: Yes, sure.
- [7/28/2016 8:30:03 AM] Syrus Seto: You receive an adminhelp from a player. They are an antagonist, and state that they were permabrigged for no reason by a security officer. How do you respond?
- [7/28/2016 8:32:37 AM] Juan Dorta: I ask that player the name of the officer, and proceed to contact the officer about the reasons that led to the perma-brigging, as it may be a case of metagaming, due to the officer knowing OOCly that the other person is an antagonist.
- [7/28/2016 8:33:40 AM | Edited 8:33:30 AM] Juan Dorta: If he has a legitimate IC reason (e.g. The guy committed an offense that warrants the HuT), then I would inform the player that reported it, and I would no take futher actions.
- [7/28/2016 8:33:47 AM] Juan Dorta: Whoops. Editing.
- [7/28/2016 8:34:18 AM] Juan Dorta: There. Sorry.
- [7/28/2016 8:35:41 AM] Juan Dorta: If he has no IC motivations for the perma-brigging, I would tell the officer to release the antagonist and give him a warning about his behaviour, asking him to re-read the rules about the MG policy.
- [7/28/2016 8:35:58 AM] Syrus Seto: Very good. Moving on.
- [7/28/2016 8:37:20 AM] Syrus Seto: You are in the lobby, during deadhour. You are the only member of staff online. You are putting the finishing touches on a new character you're working on, when from your textfeed, you see a flood of attack logs. It would appear that two people are firing on each other with lethal firearms. Neither appear to be antagonists. You have no further information at this time.
- [7/28/2016 8:39:00 AM] Juan Dorta: I would a-ghost into the game and quickly assess the situation, proceeding to freeze both of the parties if needed, in order to contact them and do a bit of research about the motivations of the shooting.
- [7/28/2016 8:39:18 AM] Juan Dorta: After asking both of the parties, what would I know?
- [7/28/2016 8:40:05 AM] Syrus Seto: Both are security staff. One is a warden, using their energy gun. Lethals. The other is a security officer. Using a laser carbine. The warden states that the officer stole the laser carbine, and opened fire on him when he followed them to try and get it back. Logs confirm the officer fired first.
- [7/28/2016 8:41:18 AM] Juan Dorta: Right, I would ask the officer for the reason to shoot the warden, and check his player notes.
- [7/28/2016 8:42:43 AM] Syrus Seto: History of powergaming, metagaming, and overescalation of force, according to notes. They claim that the warden attacked a prisoner, and the officer tried to stop them with a laser rifle that the head of security issued them to kill carp.
- [7/28/2016 8:44:37 AM] Juan Dorta: Hm. Given his records, I would probably go for a permanent ban in this case. The reason he gave does not warrant the usage of the firearm, even less against a member of his own team.
- [7/28/2016 8:45:12 AM | Edited 8:44:38 AM] Juan Dorta: I would inform him about the ability to appeal the ban at the forums before the ban being issued.
- [7/28/2016 8:46:29 AM] Syrus Seto: Alright.
- [7/28/2016 8:46:43 AM] Syrus Seto: Moving along, if you're ready.
- [7/28/2016 8:46:47 AM] Juan Dorta: Go ahead.
- [7/28/2016 8:51:20 AM] Juan Dorta: Actually, give me a second. I will be right back!
- [7/28/2016 8:51:24 AM] Syrus Seto: No problem.
- [7/28/2016 8:55:23 AM] Juan Dorta: I'm back!
- [7/28/2016 8:55:41 AM] Syrus Seto: Right, now I need a quick moment. Garbage day, need to move my bin up the street.
- [7/28/2016 8:55:49 AM] Juan Dorta: Heh, sure.
- [7/28/2016 8:58:29 AM] Syrus Seto: Right, next question.
- [7/28/2016 9:02:01 AM] Juan Dorta: I'm ready!
- [7/28/2016 9:04:54 AM] Syrus Seto: You and several other moderators are online, in addition to a handful of administrators. It is a mercenary round. You receive an adminhelp from one of the mercenaries, accusing an engineer of powergaming. You aghost over to the mercenary, and see that an engineer has crafted themselves a steel spear, crossbow, and an improvised shotgun, and is currently engaging the merc team on the engineering outpost. They are winning. Three of them are already dead. One is locked in paincrit, on the floor, dying. The last one is still standing, and is engaged with the engineer, however is badly wounded. He won't make another twenty seconds if this keeps on. You have no doubt that the engineer will finish them off. How do you proceed?
- [7/28/2016 9:06:41 AM] Juan Dorta: First of all, I would make the engineer stop. I would first tell him to stop via PM, and freeze him if he does not stop when told.
- [7/28/2016 9:09:54 AM] Juan Dorta: After the engineer has stopped shooting the mercenaries, I would ask him about the shooting and the record of his character, specifically, if his character has any kind of military, shooting or weapon-crafting experience. I would then proceed to take a look at his player notes and character age and records.
- [7/28/2016 9:12:23 AM] Juan Dorta: If the character is way too young to have any kind of experience on the field and/or his character's records don't show any kind of realistic training/experience in the matter, I would go ahead and inform him that he has PG'd in that situation.
- [7/28/2016 9:13:26 AM | Edited 9:14:37 AM] Juan Dorta: I would discuss the matter with the other administrators and mods, to see what would be a fair punishment for the player. If I was alone, I would go ahead with a warning on the record of the player, and proceed to admin-heal the antagonists.
- [7/28/2016 9:14:04 AM] Syrus Seto: Noted. Anything more?
- [7/28/2016 9:14:29 AM] Juan Dorta: Hm... Don't think so.
- [7/28/2016 9:20:05 AM] Syrus Seto: Very well. Also, my apologies, dealing with an admin issue quickly.
- [7/28/2016 9:20:17 AM] Juan Dorta: Don't worry. :)
- [7/28/2016 9:23:40 AM] Syrus Seto: Alrighty. It is a malf round. You are the only moderator online. The AI sends an ahelp, requesting permission to flood the station with plasma from atmospherics. How do you respond?
- [7/28/2016 9:25:53 AM] Juan Dorta: Sorry, had to leave for a second.
- [7/28/2016 9:27:09 AM] Syrus Seto: Not an issue.
- [7/28/2016 9:27:25 AM] Juan Dorta: Well. Atmospheric tampering is strictly limited as per the server's rules. Plasma flooding makes the round extremely unfair for other players, giving an extreme advantage to the antagonist.
- [7/28/2016 9:28:56 AM] Juan Dorta: I would probably deny the request, asking the AI player to look for alternatives. Maybe even allow the usage of other gases, such as NO2, which is not lethal and way less destructive.
- [7/28/2016 9:29:03 AM] Juan Dorta: But not Plasma.
- [7/28/2016 9:29:47 AM] Juan Dorta: I would grant that as a last resort for the AI, of course.
- [7/28/2016 9:30:02 AM] Juan Dorta: The NO2 usage, I mean.
- [7/28/2016 9:31:13 AM] Juan Dorta: And I think that would be all.
- [7/28/2016 9:31:29 AM] Syrus Seto: Good.
- [7/28/2016 9:32:13 AM] Syrus Seto: If you were promoted, are there any affairs not pertaining server-side that you would be interested in getting involved with? Managing whitelists, handling player complaints, or assisting with unban appeals? Anything of that nature?
- [7/28/2016 9:32:53 AM] Juan Dorta: I wouldn't mind doing any of these, and I would probably enjoy doing so.
- [7/28/2016 9:33:19 AM | Edited 9:32:59 AM] Juan Dorta: So, sign me up for what it's needed the most, if I was given the position.
- [7/28/2016 9:35:00 AM] Syrus Seto: Alright, we'll keep this in mind.
- [7/28/2016 9:35:11 AM] Syrus Seto: This concludes the line of questioning I have.
- [7/28/2016 9:35:30 AM] Juan Dorta: Very well.
