  1. Considerations of bringing in new worlds makes me think; what ring would the Digital World be in? :M It feels like the kind of thing that wouldn't be accessable via flying through space.
  2. [2/12/2016 10:23:51 PM] Madoka: Given that Digital World is linked to Earth-bound internet, you could probably reasonably say it should be in the Terra Cluster.
  3. [2/12/2016 10:24:13 PM] Madoka: ( Also are you thinking about bringing in Digital World? O: )
  4. [2/12/2016 10:24:16 PM] Taco: Fair, fair... (Yes)
  5. [2/12/2016 10:24:21 PM] Madoka: ( !!!! )
  6. [2/12/2016 10:25:16 PM] Philip: we need a cyberpunk/future world. digital world could be a good region.
  7. [2/12/2016 10:25:28 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: THAT
  8. [2/12/2016 10:25:32 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: FUCKING
  9. [2/12/2016 10:25:39 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: INCREDIBLE MOVIE
  10. [2/12/2016 10:25:56 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: also best Stan Lee cameo yet
  11. [2/12/2016 10:26:12 PM] Taco: I guess also, from a personal standpoint, it seems COOLER if it isn't a thing you can fly to. Like, I kinda enjoy the idea that the Digital World, if brought to the Multiverse, would pretty much be present in/accessable from any planet in some way. I guess there's no way to really get that across in an elegant way on a forum, though.
  12. [2/12/2016 10:26:20 PM] Taco: Also: Yay~! :D
  13. [2/12/2016 10:26:44 PM] Cracky Schnee: Clearly we just bring Cyber CE back
  14. [2/12/2016 10:26:49 PM] Madoka: Yeah, if it's integrated into the digital infrastructure of the Multiverse it could reasonably be accessed anywhere.
  15. [2/12/2016 10:27:01 PM] Madoka: But yeah.. that is tough to really represent.
  16. [2/12/2016 10:27:16 PM] Cracky Schnee: I wonder if Cyber CE still exists...
  17. [2/12/2016 10:28:47 PM] Cracky Schnee: doesn't look like it
  18. [2/12/2016 10:28:49 PM] Taco: (It's a durfy idea but my immediate thought is to have it be its own ring. :M I dunno, I guess kinda like if people are ever interested in bringing in one of the many .hack-like worlds, or some other places that exist in digital space.)
  19. [2/12/2016 10:29:07 PM] Taco: (I mean it's kind of its own thing.)
  20. [2/12/2016 10:29:17 PM] Philip: digital world. .hack worlds. megaman exe.
  21. [2/12/2016 10:29:26 PM] Philip: trying to think what else could work
  22. [2/12/2016 10:29:36 PM] Cracky Schnee: Tron
  23. [2/12/2016 10:29:38 PM] Madoka: Sword Art On--
  24. [2/12/2016 10:29:39 PM] Madoka: Madoka is shot
  25. [2/12/2016 10:29:42 PM] Taco: SAO/Log Horizon/.hack
  26. [2/12/2016 10:29:42 PM] Cracky Schnee: hahaha
  27. [2/12/2016 10:29:46 PM] Taco: Tron indeed
  28. [2/12/2016 10:29:57 PM] Philip: it was good enough for kingdom hearts.
  29. [2/12/2016 10:30:02 PM] Taco: ^
  30. [2/12/2016 10:30:16 PM] Philip: plus i can put topics there. and give them Daft Punk songs as their titles
  31. [2/12/2016 10:30:24 PM] Cracky Schnee: hue
  32. [2/12/2016 10:30:28 PM] Madoka: Lol.
  33. [2/12/2016 10:30:29 PM] Taco: Certain parts of Ghost in the Shell
  34. [2/12/2016 10:30:34 PM] waloose: so
  35. [2/12/2016 10:30:48 PM] Madoka: Eh GitS wouldn't quite fit as well.
  36. [2/12/2016 10:30:49 PM] Taco: Yeah
  37. [2/12/2016 10:30:50 PM] waloose: I've found the Korra avatar to upload after Valentines Day
  38. [2/12/2016 10:30:54 PM] Madoka: Not as just a digital thing.
  39. [2/12/2016 10:30:58 PM] Taco: *nods*
  40. [2/12/2016 10:31:06 PM] waloose: http://i.imgur.com/8WrMaVh.gifv
  41. [2/12/2016 10:31:10 PM] Cracky Schnee: !
  42. [2/12/2016 10:31:14 PM] Madoka: That'd work for Phil's cyberpunk/futuristic world idea, though.
  43. [2/12/2016 10:31:24 PM] Cracky Schnee: you would, waloose
  44. [2/12/2016 10:31:26 PM] waloose: o3o
  45. [2/12/2016 10:31:30 PM] Cracky Schnee: That Korra is you
  46. [2/12/2016 10:31:33 PM] Cracky Schnee: you are Korra
  47. [2/12/2016 10:31:34 PM] waloose: http://i.imgur.com/WwfcgSU.gifv
  48. [2/12/2016 10:31:36 PM] Cracky Schnee: the Avatr
  49. [2/12/2016 10:31:37 PM] waloose: what about this?
  50. [2/12/2016 10:31:48 PM] Cracky Schnee: and yes it was intentional that time
  51. [2/12/2016 10:31:57 PM] Taco: I mean, Digital World, one or two .hack-likes, and Tronland could easily fill out a ring, while leaving space for others that we haven't already thought of.
  52.
  53. But also yeah someone should bring in a Cyberpunk world as well, GitS would work well. :O
  54. [2/12/2016 10:32:05 PM] Cracky Schnee: clearly that's her sig pic, wally
  55. [2/12/2016 10:32:18 PM] waloose: but
  56. [2/12/2016 10:32:18 PM] waloose: but
  57. [2/12/2016 10:32:25 PM] waloose: I just do the pogs
  58. [2/12/2016 10:32:27 PM] waloose: ;w;
  59. [2/12/2016 10:32:42 PM] Cracky Schnee: sounds like a personal problem
  60. [2/12/2016 10:33:19 PM] waloose: go check Korra's underpicture message, Crackers
  61. [2/12/2016 10:34:44 PM] Cracky Schnee: 12/10
  62. [2/12/2016 10:35:22 PM] waloose: http://orig07.deviantart.net/9d3a/f/2012/169/c/1/chibi_korra_gif__by_mijoo-d5409te.gif
  63. [2/12/2016 10:36:28 PM] Philip: maybe the 4 digital regions could be a literal "cloud". and the 5th region is the physical part of the world in the multiverse. like a portal.
  64. [2/12/2016 10:36:39 PM] Philip: it'd be an interesting visual.
  65. [2/12/2016 10:36:55 PM] Cracky Schnee: Could be like a town maybe?
  66. [2/12/2016 10:37:00 PM] Taco: I super dig it.
  67. [2/12/2016 10:37:03 PM] Cracky Schnee: Where physical dudes and data people live side by side?
  68. [2/12/2016 10:37:09 PM] Taco: *nods*
  69. [2/12/2016 10:37:12 PM] Cracky Schnee: and then the portal's right there
  70. [2/12/2016 10:37:25 PM] Cracky Schnee: Could maybe be renovated Netslum from .dot hack
  71. [2/12/2016 10:37:31 PM] Taco: Yessss Netslum
  72. [2/12/2016 10:37:52 PM] Taco: Immediately after I mentioned .hack I thought "Netslum has to be a place".
  73. [2/12/2016 10:37:56 PM] Cracky Schnee: ~
  74. [2/12/2016 10:38:56 PM] Taco: H-how do we go about making this a thing?
  75. [2/12/2016 10:39:04 PM] Philip: wormhole quest.
  76. [2/12/2016 10:39:16 PM] Cracky Schnee: No, clearly we just make it the next storyline
  77. [2/12/2016 10:39:21 PM] Taco: ur a wormhole
  78. [2/12/2016 10:39:25 PM] Philip: ur face
  79. [2/12/2016 10:39:26 PM] Cracky Schnee: So then we don't have to waste time doing quests
  80. [2/12/2016 10:39:31 PM] Taco: (XP)
  81. [2/12/2016 10:39:45 PM] Cracky Schnee: ...really?
  82. [2/12/2016 10:39:50 PM] Cracky Schnee: no "ur mom"?
  83. [2/12/2016 10:39:56 PM] Cracky Schnee: I am disappoint
  84. [2/12/2016 10:40:20 PM] waloose: Hell, Taco
  85. [2/12/2016 10:40:23 PM] waloose: if you need another person
  86. [2/12/2016 10:40:32 PM] waloose: I'm happy to throw Royce at bringing a digital world in
  87. [2/12/2016 10:40:43 PM] Taco: CLOUDBANK HOW COULD I FORGET
  88. [2/12/2016 10:40:48 PM] Cracky Schnee: !
  89. [2/12/2016 10:40:48 PM] waloose: Yeah
  90. [2/12/2016 10:41:02 PM] Madoka: I am always up for helping with world-bringing-in shenanigans.
  91. [2/12/2016 10:41:02 PM] waloose: But Cloudbank's gonna be it's own world ;w;
  92. [2/12/2016 10:41:08 PM] Taco: Oh of course.
  93. [2/12/2016 10:41:11 PM] waloose: Like
  94. [2/12/2016 10:41:17 PM] waloose: it's already a city under construction
  95. [2/12/2016 10:41:29 PM] Taco: It can be the connecting city. :M
  96. [2/12/2016 10:41:33 PM] waloose: I'm just blurring that Digital/Physical line to the maximum
  97. [2/12/2016 10:41:43 PM] Taco: That has the portal to the rest of the digital ring.
  98. [2/12/2016 10:41:46 PM] waloose: but would you let Royce have complete control?
  99. [2/12/2016 10:43:04 PM] Taco: Of Cloudbank?
  100. [2/12/2016 10:43:16 PM] waloose: Of whatever the 5 regions for Cloudbank are
  101. [2/12/2016 10:43:31 PM] Taco: Well yeah. Cloudbank would be one world amongst many others.
  102. [2/12/2016 10:43:45 PM] Taco: The discussion I was considering was having a new ring with multiple new worlds in it.
  103. [2/12/2016 10:43:49 PM] waloose: The plan right now is for Cloudbank to literally be it's own planet
  104. [2/12/2016 10:43:55 PM] waloose: Oh, a new ring?
  105. [2/12/2016 10:43:58 PM] Taco: Yeah
  106. [2/12/2016 10:44:04 PM] waloose: I thought you meant Cloudbank was one region
  107. [2/12/2016 10:44:09 PM] Taco: No no I meant
  108. [2/12/2016 10:44:18 PM] waloose: But, fuck yeah, I'm down to put it in the ring
  109. [2/12/2016 10:44:26 PM] waloose: as the hub, sure, totally
  110. [2/12/2016 10:44:33 PM] Madoka: If you're making Cloudbank into a planet you basically have to invent the planet and any plots that might be doable on it. :V
  111. [2/12/2016 10:44:34 PM] Taco: Cloudbank as the planet in that ring that is both physical and digital, while all of the rest are more purely digital.
  112. [2/12/2016 10:44:41 PM] waloose: gives me another reason to have Royce help you make the ring
  113. [2/12/2016 10:45:00 PM] waloose: Where would we put the ring? Cloudbank was gonna be in the Terra Ring
  114. [2/12/2016 10:45:07 PM] waloose: since it's on Infected Earth
  115. [2/12/2016 10:45:20 PM] waloose: currently
  116. [2/12/2016 10:45:22 PM] Madoka: ( Like for reals, at that point it's almost literally an original world. )
  117. [2/12/2016 10:45:44 PM] waloose: yeah o3o
  118. [2/12/2016 10:45:51 PM] waloose: Cloudbank is the Ultimate Sandbox
  119. [2/12/2016 10:46:06 PM] waloose: I actually need to write up the descriptions and stat bonues and stuff
  120. [2/12/2016 10:46:09 PM] Taco: I'd think it'd just be like... I dunno. We could easily just put it between Deep Space and the Outer Ring.
  121. [2/12/2016 10:46:32 PM] Madoka: If one person has control of literally the entire planet, seems like it'd kill the potential for some plots. :P
  122. [2/12/2016 10:46:35 PM] waloose: I think it'd be neat to have between Terra and the Moon
  123. [2/12/2016 10:46:47 PM] waloose: Nah, Royce would be pretty open
  124. [2/12/2016 10:46:52 PM] waloose: Cloudbank welcomes all
  125. [2/12/2016 10:46:55 PM] waloose: that's canon as fuck
  126. [2/12/2016 10:46:56 PM] Madoka: Open to crime?
  127. [2/12/2016 10:46:59 PM] waloose: TO ALL
  128. [2/12/2016 10:47:01 PM] Taco: I was considering that as well, but didn't want to steal the thunder of Terra being the closest ring in the moon.
  129. [2/12/2016 10:47:04 PM] Madoka: Exploitation~?
  130. [2/12/2016 10:47:14 PM] Madoka: Can people gain completely control of some small areas?
  131. [2/12/2016 10:47:16 PM] waloose: but you have a robotic legion that will mindlessly kill you if you do bad things and make it less utopian
  132. [2/12/2016 10:47:23 PM] Taco: But yeah, between Terra and the Moon would work.
  133. [2/12/2016 10:47:25 PM] Madoka: See that sounds boring. :V
  134. [2/12/2016 10:47:28 PM] Taco: ^
  135. [2/12/2016 10:47:51 PM] waloose: I mean, Taco, if Cloudbank is gonna be in the Terra Ring as the hub, then it'd make sense to be around the Terra Ring
  136. [2/12/2016 10:48:01 PM] Madoka: At that point it's not much better than Coruscant, 'cept at the very least you can GO to the planet without being scrutinized instantly.
  137. [2/12/2016 10:48:11 PM] waloose: if the digital worlds aren't physical, then the Terra Ring is still the closest
  138. [2/12/2016 10:48:16 PM] waloose: Mio, the ideas are still forming
  139. [2/12/2016 10:48:42 PM] waloose: Crime will probably be there since neither Royce nor Red could know about all of it at once
  140. [2/12/2016 10:48:47 PM | Edited 10:49:13 PM] Taco: I was thinking it would be in the Digital Ring, but yeah, true enough. Like, physical 'ring' placement doesn't matter as much, because the digital worlds aren't places you fly to. :P
  141. [2/12/2016 10:48:54 PM] waloose: but it is going to have a large Garden Campus and some other things in it
  142. [2/12/2016 10:49:25 PM] waloose: Cloudbank was also going to be slightly mobile, so it'll be fine to move it around
  143. [2/12/2016 10:49:28 PM] Madoka: I'm just pointing those aspects out because it is important to keep it in mind~
  144. [2/12/2016 10:49:35 PM] Philip: maybe we could make a thread to put down the ideas
  145. [2/12/2016 10:49:36 PM] waloose: kinda Zonama Sekot-esque
  146. [2/12/2016 10:49:39 PM] Taco: *nods*
  147. [2/12/2016 10:49:41 PM] waloose: or a Google Doc
  148. [2/12/2016 10:49:44 PM] Madoka: What I'm saying is, don't be like Coruscant. PLEASE don't be like Coruscant.
  149. [2/12/2016 10:49:51 PM] waloose: I don't want to be like Coruscant
  150. [2/12/2016 10:49:55 PM] Madoka: Good~! :D
  151. [2/12/2016 10:50:03 PM] waloose: I want it to be Coruscant 2.0
  152. [2/12/2016 10:50:05 PM] waloose: were
  153. [2/12/2016 10:50:07 PM] waloose: it isn't shit
  154. [2/12/2016 10:50:16 PM] waloose: and filled with X-Parasites
  155. [2/12/2016 10:50:21 PM | Edited 10:50:26 PM] Taco: Hrm. Like, the biggest question I have is, what is the process for adding a new ring? How long has it been since a new one was added?
  156. [2/12/2016 10:50:26 PM] waloose: it will be filled with Process, but those fuckers are nice and will help you
  157. [2/12/2016 10:50:33 PM] waloose: Uh, never, actually
  158. [2/12/2016 10:50:36 PM] Madoka: Yeah, unless you're ruining Utopia.
  159. [2/12/2016 10:50:44 PM] Philip: the Ring structure is kinda recent.
  160. [2/12/2016 10:50:48 PM] waloose: Cloudbank is supposed to be Utopia
  161. [2/12/2016 10:50:52 PM] waloose: but
  162. [2/12/2016 10:50:55 PM] Madoka: And yeah, the rings have only ever been played with during board events.
  163. [2/12/2016 10:50:55 PM] waloose: that's impossible, so
  164. [2/12/2016 10:51:01 PM] Madoka: There aren't even rules in place for introducing one.
  165. [2/12/2016 10:51:04 PM] Madoka: As a player.
  166. [2/12/2016 10:51:15 PM] waloose: but I think if we got a big enough PRQ, we could do it
  167. [2/12/2016 10:51:22 PM] waloose: HOWEVER
  168. [2/12/2016 10:51:36 PM] Cracky Schnee: I still think this should be a storyline event, so it doesn't take 5 PRQs to bring in the worlds you want
  169. [2/12/2016 10:51:47 PM] waloose: the current plan is a PRQ with Alteri and Royce to get CB off of IE
  170. [2/12/2016 10:51:56 PM] Madoka: Cracky, being a storyline event doesn't stop there being a ton of threads to make it happen.
  171. [2/12/2016 10:52:02 PM] Madoka: All it does is change how it's played out.
  172. [2/12/2016 10:52:03 PM] Madoka: :P
  173. [2/12/2016 10:52:14 PM] waloose: And it was going to fold in on itself and become a planet and stuff
  174. [2/12/2016 10:52:18 PM] waloose: Like
  175. [2/12/2016 10:52:19 PM] Cracky Schnee: Changes the order, Cody
  176. [2/12/2016 10:52:20 PM] waloose: actually
  177. [2/12/2016 10:52:25 PM] waloose: I'mma draw it at some point
  178. [2/12/2016 10:52:25 PM] Cracky Schnee: if it's a storyline event
  179. [2/12/2016 10:52:26 PM] Madoka: Mmm true.
  180. [2/12/2016 10:52:32 PM] Madoka: If it's an event the worlds can come in first.
  181. [2/12/2016 10:52:35 PM] Cracky Schnee: we can bring in the ring and THEN-
  182. [2/12/2016 10:52:35 PM] Madoka: And then events happen in them.
  183. [2/12/2016 10:52:36 PM] Taco: *nods*
  184. [2/12/2016 10:52:38 PM] Cracky Schnee: exactly
  185. [2/12/2016 10:52:40 PM] Madoka: Rather than the other way around~
  186. [2/12/2016 10:52:44 PM] Taco: I like that idea.
  187. [2/12/2016 10:52:44 PM] Cracky Schnee: like when we did the Terra Cluster
  188. [2/12/2016 10:52:47 PM] Madoka: I would be totally for it.
  189. [2/12/2016 10:52:59 PM] Madoka: And would love to participate. (cat)
  190. [2/12/2016 10:53:22 PM] Cracky Schnee: efw Persona 4 TV World is in there :P
  191. [2/12/2016 10:53:26 PM] Taco: I'm gonna cook up Mirei's app and then app her at the start of the event. :3c
  192. [2/12/2016 10:53:31 PM] Madoka: Oh my~
  193. [2/12/2016 10:53:54 PM] Madoka: I don't think I'm getting any accounts past #9 so I'd have to switch if I want any futuristic dudes. ;~;
  194. [2/12/2016 10:53:58 PM] Cracky Schnee: Yesh, that much closer to laptop boobsquee- I mean awesome AngelDevilmon woman
  195. [2/12/2016 10:54:06 PM] Taco: (X3)
  196. [2/12/2016 10:54:06 PM] waloose: So should we make a doc to discuss this or
  197. [2/12/2016 10:54:09 PM] Taco: Yes.
  198. [2/12/2016 10:54:12 PM] waloose: on it
  199. [2/12/2016 10:54:17 PM] Taco: A doc and maaaybe a thread?
  200. [2/12/2016 10:54:20 PM] Cracky Schnee: ^
  201. [2/12/2016 10:54:27 PM] waloose: I don't see the point in a thread until we're recruiting
  202. [2/12/2016 10:54:37 PM] Cracky Schnee: I think she means staffside
  203. [2/12/2016 10:54:39 PM] waloose: rather get the ideas down first and stuff
  204. [2/12/2016 10:54:40 PM] Madoka: If it's gonna be a storyline event.
  205. [2/12/2016 10:54:41 PM] waloose: ooooooh
  206. [2/12/2016 10:54:43 PM] Madoka: Yeah it needs a staff thread.
  207. [2/12/2016 10:54:44 PM] waloose: shit
  208. [2/12/2016 10:54:48 PM] waloose: I missed the storyline thing
  209. [2/12/2016 10:55:27 PM] waloose: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YGIsmhhe3808bwpClRhQ9EkDjMpEwe355NHSZqkO9TU/edit?usp=sharing
  210. [2/12/2016 11:03:04 PM] Taco: Yeah that was what I meant. :P Staff thread for event planning.
  211. [2/12/2016 11:05:57 PM] Taco: So, one of the most important questions that springs to my mind is: Why? Why is this event happening, ICly and OOCly? What do we want the players to get out of this, what are our goals in doing this, what are the goals of the NPCs, just in general 'why has this event come to pass'?
  212. [2/12/2016 11:07:21 PM] Cracky Schnee: Clearly, NV Tails was working on his own Data Air project and when his Capital Ship gets blown up in Phase 5 it fucks over the multiverse's internet and causes a rift to the Digital World
  213. [2/12/2016 11:07:51 PM] waloose: I mean
  214. [2/12/2016 11:07:59 PM] waloose: we could take the data air idea and make it not suck
  215. [2/12/2016 11:08:19 PM] Madoka: The idea didn't suck, the execution sucked.
  216. [2/12/2016 11:08:33 PM] Madoka: Important distinction. :3c
  217. [2/12/2016 11:08:40 PM] waloose: truetrue
  218. [2/12/2016 11:09:09 PM] waloose: And, to be honest
  219. [2/12/2016 11:09:22 PM] waloose: I'd be fine if Aincrad was, like, a region on The World or something
  220. [2/12/2016 11:09:32 PM] waloose: because Aincrad is actually interesting, kinda
  221. [2/12/2016 11:09:40 PM] Cracky Schnee: Hmmm
  222. [2/12/2016 11:09:55 PM] Cracky Schnee: we could always say that since the NVs were using an alternate means to enter the multiverse
  223. [2/12/2016 11:10:03 PM] waloose: A floating castle with 108 (i think) floors with increasing strongpeeple
  224. [2/12/2016 11:10:04 PM] Cracky Schnee: they inadvertently destabilized shit
  225. [2/12/2016 11:10:10 PM] waloose: ^
  226. [2/12/2016 11:10:11 PM] waloose: that works
  227. [2/12/2016 11:10:14 PM] waloose: with me
  228. [2/12/2016 11:10:36 PM] Cracky Schnee: and made the fabric between the physical world and digital world thinner and more prone to tears
  229. [2/12/2016 11:10:43 PM] Taco: Tears for fears.
  230. [2/12/2016 11:10:53 PM] Cracky Schnee: so what would usually just be a rift that would bring a dude from .dot hack or Megaman.EXE in
  231. [2/12/2016 11:10:58 PM] Cracky Schnee: suddenly makes a giant gole
  232. [2/12/2016 11:11:00 PM] Cracky Schnee: hole*
  233. [2/12/2016 11:11:07 PM] Cracky Schnee: where dudes could actually cross through
  234. [2/12/2016 11:11:40 PM] waloose: would make a pretty mad world o3o
  235. [2/12/2016 11:11:47 PM] waloose: Or
  236. [2/12/2016 11:12:03 PM] Cracky Schnee: and actually now that I'm thinking about it
  237. [2/12/2016 11:12:07 PM] waloose: really, Cracky, the Process molding Cloudbank into a physical world could be a good reason, too
  238. [2/12/2016 11:12:08 PM] Cracky Schnee: the dudes bringing in Mega Earth
  239. [2/12/2016 11:12:22 PM] Cracky Schnee: might be bringing in MegaMan.EXE stuff
  240. [2/12/2016 11:12:23 PM] waloose: since they were data and all that
  241. [2/12/2016 11:12:23 PM] Cracky Schnee: in with that
  242. [2/12/2016 11:12:37 PM] Cracky Schnee: hmm
  243. [2/12/2016 11:12:40 PM] Cracky Schnee: true
  244. [2/12/2016 11:14:42 PM] Taco: Sounds like a potentially solid idea. So as a potential reason, the NVs accidentally TORE OPEN A PORTAL IN [Digispace], and FLUNG- but yeah. It could be an amalgamation of reasons. NVs destabilize the area, Cloudbank is made and exacerbates that destabilization, and the Digital World becomes accessable. But then, what is the fallout of that? Is this going to be an NV-esque event where a buncha cray stuff happens, or is it going to be more low-key? What will the players DO during this event, what is their agency in this?
  245. [2/12/2016 11:16:22 PM] Philip: maybe we have it so a bunch of the quested worlds (Arcadia, Castlevania World, Super Earth) all coming in at once make stuff unstable.
  246. [2/12/2016 11:16:35 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: eh i'd argue the digital world is its own planet and such and could still be accessed like any other world
  247. [2/12/2016 11:16:38 PM] Philip: as for agency: a mini-wormhole opened up. go check it out.
  248. [2/12/2016 11:16:40 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: personally
  249. [2/12/2016 11:16:45 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: also bluh home
  250. [2/12/2016 11:16:48 PM] Philip: and yeah, I'd prefer it to be a planet as well.
  251. [2/12/2016 11:16:57 PM] Philip: but I'll go with the ring idea for now.
  252. [2/12/2016 11:18:10 PM] waloose: I think we could fill it out with at least 4 worlds
  253. [2/12/2016 11:18:16 PM] waloose: 4 unique worlds, too
  254. [2/12/2016 11:19:18 PM] Philip: Digital World, The Net (The World, Navi Space, The Grid), Cloudbank (portal between the two planes) and a space station we can get from some other game.
  255. [2/12/2016 11:19:49 PM] Philip: the station can have cities in it that work like cyberpunk worlds.
  256. [2/12/2016 11:20:36 PM] Philip: or we have cloudbank be one region in a physical world
  257. [2/12/2016 11:20:43 PM] Recette: I'm a bit skeptical about this. These... how many players actually want these worlds?
  258. [2/12/2016 11:21:14 PM] Recette: Unless we vote for it a la Terra Cluster, we shouldn't throw in a whole new Ring with a bunch of new worlds.
  259. [2/12/2016 11:21:17 PM] Philip: another reason i'd go for a single planet. broad enough to fill a niche.
  260. [2/12/2016 11:21:27 PM] waloose: Cloudbank was gonna be totally physical, yet would have the portals in through bullshit canon data air stuff it already has
  261. [2/12/2016 11:22:11 PM] waloose: and Cloudbank is part of Royce's storyline that I've been working towards for a while now, so that's something I'm going to make sure happens
  262. [2/12/2016 11:22:52 PM] Taco: We could always take a poll, if we don't mind showing our hand a little. :P
  263. [2/12/2016 11:24:19 PM] Philip: that could work
  264. [2/12/2016 11:24:33 PM] waloose: i'm cool with it
  265. [2/12/2016 11:24:39 PM] Madoka: Sure, go for it.
  266. [2/12/2016 11:25:41 PM] Taco: In that case, what exactly are we asking the players? Are we explicitly asking if they'd be interested in a Digital "Ring" being its own thing, or are we just checking interest on some of the potential worlds, and then extrapolating from there whether or not we want the full ring?
  267. [2/12/2016 11:26:51 PM] Philip: i'd say the latter.
  268. [2/12/2016 11:28:04 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: wait are we talkinga bout bringing the digital world in as a staff event?
  269. [2/12/2016 11:28:09 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: because i cannot say no long and hard enough
  270. [2/12/2016 11:29:04 PM] Taco: Well, we were considering it as an event while considering it as a new ring, not just a new world.
  271. [2/12/2016 11:29:09 PM] Recette: The only way I'd support bringing in a new Ring would be like we did Terra Cluster: broad theme, and any starter worlds being voted on by the member base at large.
  272. [2/12/2016 11:29:47 PM] Recette: Or you could start it with Ephinea and I'd be cool with it.
  273. [2/12/2016 11:30:09 PM] Madoka: Bias much? :P
  274. [2/12/2016 11:30:20 PM] Taco: (Of course it'd be in, it's a digital world. XP)
  275. [2/12/2016 11:30:21 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: I don't care how you're bringing it in, it shouldn't be as a staff event
  276. [2/12/2016 11:30:32 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: If you want to try to bring in enough worlds to make a ring
  277. [2/12/2016 11:30:34 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: have at it
  278. [2/12/2016 11:30:35 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: as a member
  279. [2/12/2016 11:30:39 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: organize prqs and shit and earn the PT
  280. [2/12/2016 11:30:48 PM] Madoka: You can't bring in rings as a player event, we'd need to at least establish some ground rules for how that'd work.
  281. [2/12/2016 11:30:54 PM] Taco: ^
  282. [2/12/2016 11:31:00 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: You can move worlds
  283. [2/12/2016 11:31:05 PM] Madoka: Because right now it's just, "Did you bring in a world? Slot it into an existing ring."
  284. [2/12/2016 11:31:06 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: control all the worlds, you can make a ring
  285. [2/12/2016 11:31:14 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: move thema ll into a new ring
  286. [2/12/2016 11:31:16 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: badabing
  287. [2/12/2016 11:31:31 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: we should absolutely not make a staff event of "Oh by the way the digital world is a thing now'
  288. [2/12/2016 11:31:33 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: 'kbai'
  289. [2/12/2016 11:31:33 PM] Madoka: Okay, but there's nothing in the rules about establishing a new planetary ring.
  290. [2/12/2016 11:31:52 PM] Deadly Sniper Goat: Now that bringing in worlds is so easy ptwise i'm against any new world staff events at all
  291. [2/12/2016 11:32:06 PM] Madoka: I don't really care one way or another if it's player-run or staff-run, but we need to get rules codified if it'd have to be via player-run event.
  292. [2/12/2016 11:32:11 PM] Taco: ^^
  293. [2/12/2016 11:56:40 PM] Taco: Well, whatever the opinion there is, how's this for an opener on the poll/list of the vote options?
  294.
  295. Hello everyone! I like stuff that blurs the line between digitization and physicality, because it's hella cool! My question to you all is; are any of you also interested in stuff like this? Please let me know by casting your votes! I look forward to seeing the results~!
  296.
  297. [Multi Vote: Up to 7 Selections]
  298.
  299. The Digital World (Digimon)
  300. Cloudbank (Transistor)
  301. The World/Alfheim/Elder Tale (.hack/Sword Art Online/Log Horizon)
  302. Ephinea (Phantasy Star Online)
  303. The Grid (Tron)
  304. Other (Please List Below)
  305. I am not strongly interested in this kind of thing
  306. [2/12/2016 11:58:09 PM] Recette: Ephinea is Tales of Graces :P
  307. [2/12/2016 11:59:00 PM] Taco: Oh sorry
  308. [2/12/2016 11:59:03 PM] Taco: I don't know things
  309. [2/12/2016 11:59:15 PM] Recette: And I'd say it'd have to be we give a general 'suggest and then we vote' on a broad set of worlds a la Terra Ring
  310. [2/12/2016 11:59:29 PM] Taco: I just googled it and PSO was the thing that came up. :P
  311. [2/12/2016 11:59:48 PM] Philip: we should have that.
  312. [2/12/2016 11:59:49 PM] Taco: I was not present for Terra Ring and therefore don't know what you mean.
  313. [2/12/2016 11:59:53 PM] waloose: Tacooo
  314. [12:00:00 AM] waloose: Cloudbank is happening no matter what
  315. [12:00:03 AM] Taco: Well yeah
  316. [12:00:12 AM] waloose: So it doesn't really need to be in the Poll
  317. [12:00:13 AM] Taco: But I still want to gauge external interest on it~
  318. [12:00:27 AM] waloose: i mean
  319. [12:00:28 AM] waloose: I guess
  320. [12:01:07 AM] Taco: Like, whether or not it happens is irrelevant, it's more the question of 'does a planet like this interest enough people to make it worth having its own ring'. :B Cloudbank would be part of it, so interest in Cloudbank is relevant.
  321. [12:01:22 AM] waloose: suresure
  322. [12:02:21 AM] Taco: Anyway, clarify for me what you mean by the Terra Ring stuff, please? :O
  323. [12:02:52 AM] Taco: Or like, provide better phrasing for me so that we're asking what we want asked.
  324. [12:02:59 AM | Edited 12:03:08 AM] Recette: When we brought in Terra Ring/Cluster, what we did is that we let people suggest a bunch of 'Earth' worlds, then voted on them.
  325. [12:03:31 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: we set up a brief theme- earthlike worlds
  326. [12:03:32 AM] Madoka: They all had to be Earth worlds, though.
  327. [12:03:37 AM] Madoka: But yeah.
  328. [12:03:38 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: we let dudes nominate worlds that fit that theme
  329. [12:03:39 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: then vote on them
  330. [12:03:47 AM] Madoka: Something sufficiently broad that people could decide on.
  331. [12:03:51 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: the most popular ones were added to the board in a big event
  332. [12:04:27 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: A lot of people used it as a chance to avoid bothering with world bringins they were planning already, the biggest and most obvious one being Pokemon World
  333. [12:04:54 AM] Taco: I see, I see. :O Okay, that is a good idea. Somebody who was present for that should probably do that then, since you kinda know what/how to ask better than I.
  334. [12:05:48 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: I'm very against us doing so again with world bringin being as neutered as it is now, and it goes against the idea of "Players shape the multiverse' if most worlds just get added in through staff run events
  335. [12:06:36 AM] Taco: Then we should make rules for making new rings, DSG.
  336. [12:06:43 AM] Taco: Do you have a suggestion on that front?
  337. [12:06:46 AM] Madoka: Well it could be a case of gauging interest to see who would participate in a player event.
  338. [12:06:52 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: yes and it would take less than twenty seconds
  339. [12:07:03 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: "If you control four worlds, you can quest to move them in to their own ring"
  340. [12:07:06 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: bing bam done
  341. [12:07:50 AM] Taco: I mean that sounds good on paper, but realisticly it feels kinda stifling.
  342. [12:08:28 AM] Madoka: That requires an extra thing after bringing in the world, and would probably require extra things for all of the worlds you wanna move.
  343. [12:08:47 AM] Madoka: Because you'd have to dump them into one ring before you have enough to establish a ring.
  344. [12:09:37 AM] Taco: Like, especially if the 'new ring' would be full of worlds that aren't already there. You'd need to quest in 4 new worlds, and as far as I'm aware questing in a world doesn't also grant control of it, so then you have to quest to control 4 whole worlds, and THEN you have to quest to move them into their own ring.
  345. [12:10:06 AM] Recette: Really, rings in and of themselves are pretty much one big filing cabinet. I wouldn't be against making new rings as needed, imo.
  346. [12:10:23 AM] Recette: As long as it was just reshuffling.
  347. [12:10:37 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: Questing in worlds does by default grant you control of it
  348. [12:10:40 AM] waloose: But
  349. [12:10:41 AM] waloose: DSG
  350. [12:10:51 AM] waloose: you can't control 4 worlds unless you have a 4 person faction
  351. [12:10:55 AM] Taco: :M
  352. [12:10:57 AM] waloose: or a faction really
  353. [12:11:00 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: well then
  354. [12:11:01 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: get one
  355. [12:11:04 AM] waloose: but
  356. [12:11:09 AM] waloose: what if your factionmates don't want to
  357. [12:11:11 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: you're talking about massive change to the geography of the multiverse
  358. [12:11:16 AM] waloose: and why make a faction just to make a ring?
  359. [12:11:19 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: That's beyond what one guy should reasonably be able to accomplish on his own
  360. [12:11:29 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: why make a faction to do anything
  361. [12:11:39 AM] waloose: factions are dum
  362. [12:11:49 AM] waloose: :W
  363. [12:11:51 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: bringing in worlds is already beyond what a character except the most godly powerful/egotistical could concievably purposefully do
  364. [12:11:58 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: making your own ring is even less so
  365. [12:12:04 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: it's a byproduct of your actions, not "Hey guys'
  366. [12:12:07 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: "Let's make our own ring"
  367. [12:12:11 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: "Can i finish my pizza first"
  368. [12:14:10 AM] Madoka: Egotistical eh? Guess Gilgamesh bringing in The Ark makes more sense, then.
  369. [12:14:20 AM] Madoka: :3c
  370. [12:14:31 AM] Taco: So you're in favor of new rings being solely in the control of players, but not in favor of allowing players to do it without jumping through lots of hoops, and have phrased it as "this isn't a thing somebody should AIM to do, just a thing that should end up as a thing".
  371. [12:15:03 AM] Recette: The question is: what would even cause that?
  372. [12:15:43 AM] Recette: I mean, bringing in new worlds mostly happens when you adventure on them for some reason. It's vague, but accessible.
  373. [12:16:05 AM] Recette: Starting a new ring?
  374. [12:16:23 AM] Recette: What would cause that accidently?
  375. [12:16:34 AM] Madoka: Maybe the Multiverse just lines up things that have similarities?
  376. [12:16:36 AM] Taco: Yeah, I feel like a new ring is almost explicitly just a thing to open up options for players, which, while I'm totally cool with having it as an option for players, feels more like the kind of thing that staff would decide.
  377. [12:16:39 AM] Madoka: It's basically how rings work now.
  378. [12:16:45 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: how is "gain control of four worlds and then move them" a hoop
  379. [12:16:57 AM] Taco: I don't know DSG. :M
  380. I don't know.
  381. [12:17:05 AM] Madoka: Because you have to quest to bring them in, and then quest to move them.
  382. [12:17:21 AM] Madoka: At least, that's how it sounds.
  383. [12:17:21 AM] Taco: And also NEED a faction for it, who all also want to do that.
  384. [12:17:31 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: Bringing the worlds in is entirely inconsequential to moving them into their own ring
  385. [12:17:39 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: They are different functions
  386. [12:17:52 AM] Recette: How would one even move a world unintentionally between rings?
  387. [12:18:02 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: the lords with this ruleset could concievably move all their worlds into a Lords of Midnight ring
  388. [12:18:22 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: You're just bringing the planets in and then you're settling them in their own little cluster
  389. [12:18:29 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: The same way you bring a world in unintentionally
  390. [12:18:43 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: through your fuckery on there the multiverse fucks with it too and then bam
  391. [12:18:46 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: shit's unstable as hell
  392. [12:18:54 AM] Taco: O... okay.
  393. [12:19:06 AM] Taco: I mean you've kinda lost me here. I don't see how you 'quest' for that then.
  394. [12:19:26 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: first you need to change your thinking from watsonian to doyalist
  395. [12:19:33 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: the story of the quest does not matter
  396. [12:19:36 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: just the goal
  397. [12:19:42 AM] Taco: I don't see how that kind of thing doesn't then just become entirely automated, if it's based on "The multiverse does the thing".
  398. [12:19:55 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: the goal is "i want to bring the world into its own ring'
  399. [12:19:59 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: The story can be anything
  400. [12:20:08 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: You could be fighting cthulhu who punts the worlds elsewhere
  401. [12:20:21 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: You could be testing a new spaceship and it somehow shunts them
  402. [12:20:28 AM] Recette: Okay. So, me, Uber, and Serina go somewhere to get a cup of coffee.
  403. [12:20:30 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: your newly brought in world slips through a crakc in reality
  404. [12:20:36 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: the story does not matter
  405. [12:20:38 AM] Recette: Should add up to enough PT, even wit shit scores.
  406. [12:20:47 AM] Recette: And BAM, ring moves!
  407. [12:20:53 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: sure
  408. [12:20:54 AM] Taco: Butterfly effect.
  409. [12:21:15 AM] Taco: You drinking that coffee sent ripples through the multiverse that shifted the cosmic alignment of the worlds.
  410. [12:21:21 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: A world bring in quest is rarely "I'm going to kick Megaman world until it winds up in the multiverse"
  411. [12:21:36 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: It's usually "I'm going to stop the evil robots causing havoc on megaman earth then go back home wait why did it come with me"
  412. [12:21:49 AM] Taco: Sure, but I mean a new ring doesn't even get anyone anything.
  413. [12:21:50 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: same concept, it just winds up in its own unique part of multiversal space
  414. [12:22:03 AM] Taco: It's strictly a filing system. :M Hardly a 'reward'.
  415. [12:22:20 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: It gets you a total control bonus all your own i think those exist
  416. [12:22:27 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: without having to wrest control from other factions of worlds they may hold
  417. [12:22:40 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: *those still exist
  418. [12:22:40 AM] Recette: I'm pretty sure we removed that
  419. [12:22:57 AM] Taco: Yeah I have never heard of that in regards to full rings.
  420. [12:23:09 AM] Recette: I think it was pre-Terra Upheaval
  421. [12:23:25 AM] Madoka: Yeah right now rings don't offer any statistical bonus.
  422. [12:23:29 AM] Recette: I know that the Valorians used to have a massive vehicle discount for the faction
  423. [12:23:47 AM] Recette: Like 30%
  424. [12:26:20 AM] waloose: rings are just flavor
  425. [12:26:34 AM] Taco: Like... yeah. I dunno. I think as long as we ensure that the players are interested in this, I see no reason why it shouldn't be, at the very least, a staff-assisted event, because it doesn't feel like it does anything that players CARE to do. :M
  426. [12:27:27 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: organize it as a prq, run it as a prq, if you really want them to be in its own ring we can hash that out but ya'lls making it way more complicated than it needs to be
  427. [12:27:32 AM] Taco: Like, players take control of worlds, they bring in and send out worlds, they destroy and rebuild worlds, that is cool. Aligning a bunch of worlds into a nice, convenient ring is bookkeeping, not adventure.
  428. [12:27:38 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: but absolutely should not be a staff run event
  429. [12:27:40 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: in any capacity
  430. [12:27:44 AM] Taco: y.
  431. [12:27:51 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: beyond a staff member is running it
  432. [12:28:47 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: Because A) we do not need to or should do any staff-run worlds bringings in, B) we have a perfectly good system for it, c0 that you can use and run well on your own
  433. [12:29:03 AM] Deadly Sniper Goat: every big event does not need to be a staff event, members are perfeclty capable of doing those too
  434. [12:30:03 AM] Philip: ok. can someone here do me a favor and save the skype logs for these discussions?
  435. [12:32:33 AM] Taco: Sure~
