- The university because the segregation of college from college, department from department, graduate from undergrad and the like makes meaningful collaboration impossible. The town because I'm paying more for a room here than I would for a house anywhere civilised, and the real estate agents are too good to even reply to your enquiries. The country because it's the middle of summer and it's fucking raining.
- The library resources are inferior to my old university. I have to get my brother to email me articles I don't have access to.
- I see my supervisor once a month at most. This was particularly problematic in my first year because I had to submit a thesis proposal on a topic the supervisor approved, and it's quite hard to formulate something together when he doesn't remember you exist.
- From what I've seen of the teaching quality, it's very underwhelming. The professors don't care about that, they're just trying to crank out papers.
- The other students seem alright, but the entire system seems set up to render any meaningful exchange of ideas impossible.
