  1. The Empire of Luxembourg was a short lived state established in 1256 by Henry V of Luxembourg, upon his ascent to the title of Count of Namur. Henry proclaimed himself King of the Romans in the popular tradition of his time, as the Holy Roman Empire was in a state of interregnum without a clear emperor. He then proceeded to attack the nearby domain of Liège. This infuriated the other states of the Holy Roman Empire, who, allied with the Bulgarian Empire, tried to subdue Henry's imperial ambitions. Henry was soon defeated by Kaliman Asen II, then emperor of Bulgaria. Henry was allowed to retain his lands in Luxembourg if he swore to revert his "empire" to its former status as county and cease his country's expansionist policies.

  3. Henry was cunning, and in short time, amassed an army in alliance with the Normans, and quickly conquered the Bulgarians. The Empire was once again the military and economic power of the region, however, Luxembourg was not without plenty of political strife. Henry V constantly suppressed his subjects and in short time, Roberto Mendeleev masterminded a coup that resulted in the overthrowing of the King Henry V and began thus began the Second Dynasty. This Dynasty, later termed the Mendaleevian Dynasty, saw the the throne move into possession of several emperors of Germanic descent. It was also during this dynasty that the study of abstract genetics began leading to what is known today as Mendalian Genetics named after Gregor Mendel (a linguistic derivative of Mendaleev in the native tongue), distant cousin of the Emperor Robert III.

  5. There was a peaceful period that lasted for quite some time. All historical records regarding the transition from the Second to Third Dynasty appear to have vanished. Some believe the records were destroyed on orders of Hansel the Terrible, who seized power from the Mendaleevian Emperor. The Third Dynasty was short lived and its climax came when the druids attacked, leading to the Supplicant Revolution. This triggered the largest sponge migration in history which has been studied by poriferologists to this day. In the fourth dynasty, the sponge was adopted as the national symbol, and the name Robert came into widespread use in the Holy Roman Empire.
