  1. It’d been years since Asriel had left the underground and started living with Anon. They had both decided their time was better spent together than as wageslaves wasting half their lives making someone else money. So Asriel begged his parents for enough money to set them up in a comfy little house for life. Asgore, big pushover that he was, would do anything to keep Asriel happy, including pay for a home for the prince and his companion. Toriel immediately sensed something amiss and was going to intervene until Asriel, using his many years of manipulation and faking emotion as Flowey, began to cry and beg and threaten his mother that he’d never forgive her. Despite her good Christian upbringing and seemingly unshakable conservative beliefs, she relented for the sake of her son. After all, it was just some harmless-looking anonymous human.
  2.
  3. What’s the worst that could happen?
  4.
  5. Her son was a strong and decent boy who knew what he was doing.
  6.
  7. Wasn’t he?
  8.
  9. The snow had started coming down hard by the time that Anon and Asriel made it to their modest home. The wind was all but screaming and flakes the size of beetles battered them in a constant wave. Asriel’s ears were flapping in the wind wildly, often slapping softly across his own eyes, blinding him. Anon had to take his hand and guide him up the steps through the swirling white hellscape. By the time they were inside much of the exposed fur on Asriel’s face was plastered with snow, the slight floof of his hair frozen sideways. Anon hastily began to use his numb hands to pat down Asriel, brushing the refugee snowflakes onto the floor where they’d melt.
  10.
  11. “Ah! T-thanks anon. It’s f-fucking cold out there.”
  12.
  13. Anon agreed and helped to get Asriel’s jacket off. They settled into the thickly-cushioned coach in the living room, warm cocoa in boring generic mugs on the coffee table in front of them, the steam wafting up towards the darkened ceiling. Somehow the power had gone out. Asriel went into the bedroom and retrieved a thick blanket before plopping back on the couch and draping the fabric over the two of them. The air was cold, though not as oppressive as outside, and their breath fogged brief clouds in the moonlight coming through the windows.
  14. Anon lifted his arm and Asriel sidled up closer to him, pressing his body into Anon’s side. The human placed his hand on the boss monster’s shoulder and gave it a soft squeeze. Asriel raised his free hand and stroked up the front of Anon’s shirt, feeling the warmth of his chest and pulling himself even closer, his nose pressing against the human’s neck.
  15.
  16. The human jerked slightly at the cold prod of the boss monster’s nose against his bare flesh but adjusted quickly, sliding his arm to Asriel’s side to pull him closer. Through the window the wind shifted direction and spun a snow devil across the plains towards the road and anon smirked at the sight. Asriel nuzzled his neck and whispered something too quiet for the human to hear.
  17.
  18. “You say something Az?”
  19.
  20. Asriel shifted and sat up, his floppy ears dangling lightly against Anon’s shoulder. The prince’s eyes shined in the moonlit gloom like diamonds, the catlike irises reflecting the light beautifully.
  21.
  22. “I love you Anon.”
  23.
  24. The human sat a moment as his heart skipped a beat and he turned and grabbed Asriel in both his arms, pulling the monster prince into his lap, staring him in the eyes. He raised his hands up and put them on either side of Asriel’s face, his thumbs gently tracing the black streaks running from the corners of his eyes. The human raised his hands back further up the monster’s face and pinched his ears between his digits and lightly ground them, making Asriel sag forward, his eyes closing and a contented grin spreading across his face.
  25. The prince braced his arms against the human’s chest as he began to sag under the loving ear-ruffling he was receiving. His whole body started to sag and he gave up, collapsing suddenly against Anon’s chest, one of his ears slipping free and landing across his snoot. His eyes opened slowly and he looked up at Anon happily. The human reached over and replaced the blanket so it covered the two of them, then
  26. he slid his arms around Asriel, hugging him tight against himself.
  27.
  28. The boss monster shifted his face into the crook of the human’s shoulder, his breath tickling Anon’s neck. The two of them were very warm and it would take a war to separate the two of them as they lay entwined. The snow outside continued to swirl and shine in the moonlight.
  29. A few hours later the power came back on but they decided they’d sleep on the couch anyways.
