  1. Personality
  2.
  3. Straightforward and optimistic, Reimu is an individual of fleeting emotions. Quick to anger, quick to forgive, and quick to act, the Shrine Maiden usually prefers to avoid having to take action. While many see this as a sign of laziness (and, indeed, Reimu is more then just a bit lazy), this stems from an optimistic hope in Gensoukyou - that human and youkai can coexist in peace. However, in spite of this, she is still highly devoted to her duties as a Shrine Maiden - she very much takes a 'Shoot First, and Ask Questions Later' approach, forcefully bringing an end to situations before working out a peaceful solution (usually over tea and/or copious amounts sake). So long as you don't agitate her, Reimu is pleasant enough to be around, if a bit dour and sarcastic.
  4.
  5. Being a bit greedy, Reimu can be influenced by money and the promise of material wealth quite readily. However, this isn't out of any particular evilness on her part - she just likes having wealth.
  6.
  7. As the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, she feels it is her duty to be above the pettiness of Youkai and human - and as such, she treats everyone, regardless of race, pretty much the same, with the same degree of respect. While she will be nicer or harsher towards certain individuals, depending on how fond of them she is, she holds no particular bias towards race - if you're a nice Youkai, you can hang out. If you're a trouble-rousing human, expect a bad time. Her policy on incidents and punishment are one and the same - if someone's stirring up a ruckus, they're getting a no-holds-barred trial by spell card duel (Even if she doesn't always try her hardest in these duels, especially for ones where she feels the matter at hand is not particularly pressing or threatening to Gensoukyou). This policy has caused her to be looked at with a degree of fondness by Youkai - much to her chagrin, as this leads to an annoying amount of Youkai hanging out at her shrine, making it harder to do her job.

  9. Plus, they mess the place up, and cleaning up after youkai is a chore like no other.
  10.
  11. Powers
  12.
  13. Rivaled by only a select few other humans in Gensoukyou, Reimu serves as humanity's trump card - the blood that courses through her veins grants her an incredible amount of power, to the point where she can go toe to toe with any Youkai in Gensokyo, and more-likely-then-not win. In spite of this raw potential, however, Reimu's reluctance to fight (both out of laziness, and for her desire to minimize connflict) leads her to very rarely go all-out, rendering her perfectly beatable in (un)friendly, non-lethal duels.
  14.
  15. Hakurei Bloodline
  16. While not a power in the strictest sense, as a member of the Hakurei clan, Reimu is blessed by both a powerful (and unknown) deity, as well as the Great Hakurei Border itself. For one, this gives her the ability to use the Hakurei Yin-Yang Orbs, a set of powerful weapons specifically designed to exterminate Youkai. For two, she can perform various blessings and combat techniques, thanks to the power of a unknown deity. Finally, she possesses the ability to host various native gods of Gensokyo within her body, thus enhancing her powers or even borrowing the powers of various gods. However, this last ability was only recently taught to her, thus it suffers from some severe reliability issues.
  17.
  18. Onmyoudou (Border Magic)
  19. While it would be incorrect to say that she has mastered the art, Reimu is very skilled at using and manipulating magical barriers. Able to invoke barriers that can explode, entrap or forcefully move others, serve as portals, or even simple shields, Reimu uses them for both offensive and defensive purposes. She also possesses the ability to dissolve any barrier, no matter how complicated, with a gesture. As even prominent magicians such as Marisa and Patchouli cannot understand how it works, it is referred to as her 'cheat technique.'
  20.
  21. Ability to Float
  22.
  23. Many residents of Gensokyo are capable of flight - it could even be said that it is the land's equivalent of a driver's licence. However, Reimu's capability to float goes beyond that - she can even float out of reality itself, phasing in and out of existence. This grants her the ability to perform short-ranged teleportation, though she seems to do it mostly subconsciously, rarely aware of the fact.
  24.
  25. Fantasy Nature
  26.
  27. One might consider this simply the ultimate expression of her Ability to Float, and her heart's pacifistic desires. Serving as her ultimate ability, and a safeguard against her untimely demise, Fantasy Nature allows Reimu to completely float away from reality - becoming intangible, and as such, completely invincible (the same cannot be said of whomever she is fighting). However, this ability is considered far too powerful for use in duels; though she technically possess a weakened form of the ability with a time limit as a spell card, Reimu rarely uses it. Though if this is born from a sense of fair play, or from sheer laziness, is anyone's guess.
  28.
  29. Spellcards
  30.
  31. Reimu's danmaku is a bit of a mixed grab bag. If she feels an incident is truly serious, she will relegate herself almost entirely to base danmaku alone, using a mixture of mobility, enchanted needles, heat-seeking talismans, and the Yin-yang orbs. Otherwise, she will use a plethora of spell cards - often even making them up on the fly. Most of her spell cards feature the Yin-yang orbs, borders, talismans, and glowing multi-colored rainbow orbs, with a few even featuring martial arts. Rather notably, she can and will use anything as danmaku - as Aya Shameimaru found out when Reimu started flinging enormous posters at the tengu.
