- Tanner Gooding,
- Thank you for your email to Ecma regarding the C# Standard. I am the current convener for the C# technical group.

- First, there is a fairly significant error in the ECMA-334 specification, being that in Sections 9.3.1 and A.1.1 the Next line character is specified as "Next line character (U+2085)", while according to the Unicode Standard (U+2085) represent a subscript of the numeral digit 5 and (U+0085) represent the Next line character. Please note that Sections 9.3.2 and A.1.3 correctly represent the Next line character as "Next line character (U+0085)".
- Thank you for spotting this typo. It will be noted down to be fixed in any future version.
- Secondly, I would enquire as to whether a new edition of the standard is currently being developed, or if the 4th edition is the final edition to the specification.
- The technical group is currently not working on a new version, but it is expected that there will be one. However I cannot say if and when this will be available.
- On a related note currently the Ecma-335 CLI Standard is under going revision, and a first public snapshot of the work-in-progress should be released in a few days (around April 9th).
- Yours,
- Nigel Perry
