I came down lower to see what was happening just in time to narrowly avoid an explosion to the face. “Well fuck you too then!” my descent turned into a dive for cover, putting me behind a blown out building at the edge of the town. I poked my head out from behind a corner and looked deeper in to see the damage.

The sound of a weapon coming down at me…

Spinning, I pinned the aggressor to a nearby wall. Sokka looked at me with wide eyes as I held him there silently. Neither of us made a move. “Uh…” Sokka’s voice wasn’t hushed. With the distance between him and whoever was doing this, I didn’t expect it to be, “Hi?”

“…Hello, Sokka.”

Silence passed between us. Sokka coughed. “You mind letting me down?”

“Yeah. No problem.” I did so and took a step back, making sure to stay behind cover, “Mind explaining what the hell I just stepped into?” He frowned, turning serious. Or, at least, as serious as he could be when taking everything into account…
