>The howls were getting closer, the snapping branches and grunts of the Grimm closing in on them
>The pair of second-years had found a small clearing, and while relaxing was out of the question, they could at least catch their breath
>"There's.. There's too many.."
>"We can do this.. We have to.."
>"... Yatsu.."
>"We'll be fine.. Just use.. It.."
>"But I can't let you take them by yourself!"
>"I can hold them long enough. How long do you need?"
>A howl disrupts their conversation
>It would only be a few moments before the Grimm were on them

>"You got 90 seconds."
>Velvet twitches her nose at him before getting into a meditative position
>She closes her eyes, trusting her partner to protect her long enough for her to reach Sennin Mode
>Yatsu stands, readying his blade as the Grimm begin trickling into the clearing
>He moves between them and Velvet before the attack
>His massive blade slices through the air, instantly halving the nearest pack of Grimm in half
>He inhales, slashing his blade as he lets loose a burst of Aura
>The Aura cuts through the air, slicing through the Grimm as they continue to pour into the clearing
>Soon they begin coming from every direction, forcing Yatsu to deal with them individually as they came at them
>He slashes his blade as he pivots and moves, dancing around Velvet's still body
>His movements soon begin to slow, the sheer number of Grimm starting to overwhelm him
>Just when he reaches his limit, Velvet's eyes open
>Her eyes were more dilated now, her nose more prominent, as well as sporting whiskers
>She stood up, revealing a fluffy tail as well
>Velvet taps Yatsu's shoulder, and he goes down to a knee, taking a quick rest while she takes over
>She kicks off the ground, launching herself at the nearest Grimm
>With a swift kick, she sends it sailing through the forest, making a clear path through the trees
>She quickly begins a flurry of jumps, leaping from Grimm to Grimm as her legs dish out massive blows that send the Grimm flying to their deaths
>Soon Velvet finds her self in the same trouble Yatsu did, the sheer number of Grimm seemingly endless
>She quickly channels her Aura into the box at her side before unleashing four small bursts
>The Aura takes the shape of giant rabbits that fly outward in a circle around her and Yatsu, driving the swarms of Grimm back and obliterating any caught in their path
>Soon enough, the pair find themselves alone in the clearing once more, though they knew it wouldn't be long before more arrived
>"Come on."
>Velvet quickly picks Yatsu up, the power boost from entering her Rabbit Sennin Mode was nearly over, so she had to make use of it
>She jumps, carrying her partner through the forest
>Soon enough, they find themselves before the walls, just as her power fades
>She sets him down and the two share a brief smile before the a distant howl and the sound of a gate opening draw their attention
>"It's about time you two showed up. And here I thought I might have to go shopping for a new black suit."
>"Missed you two, Coco."
>The pair chuckle to themselves before retreating to the safety of civilization
