- Infinitives and gerunds
- Infinitives are the base form of the verb and take two forms: 'to' infinite and 'zero' infinitive. Infinitives are used mostly after the first verb, except when the infinitve is the subject. For example: I want to be an astronaut when I grow up. Gerunds take the form (base verb)+ing and are used as nouns in the sentence. For example: I love walking. They're also sometimes used after prepositions. For example: I'm interested in taking that course, what do you think?
