  1. Dear Claudio,
  2. Today your run as Leicester City’s manager came to an end. People’s reactions ranged from resigned, to sad, to outright angry, but no one was happy about it. We all still remembered what you helped do. Your time at Leicester may not have ended the way you wanted it too, but no one will ever forget what you did. You were the man behind perhaps the greatest thing to ever happen to this wonderful game. You captured the magic of football and helped put out there on the pitch for an entire season for all the world to see and I would just like to thank you for that.
  3. Prior to last season, my love for football had begun to fade. My team, Fulham, had been demoted to the Championship a couple years prior, and while I tried to continue following them at first, doing so from the states was tough. I could watch match highlights, or listen on the radio when the match times were right, but overall, I felt removed and distanced from this team that I’d followed for since I was a kid. I was hardly paying attention to the league table, let alone watching any football, Then, I heard about this scrappy from a mid-sized English city that few people outside of the country knew how to pronounce who was giving the big boys, the big spenders a run for their money. I turned on one game and watched them, then I did the same the next weekend, then the next, and then the next. Before long I was waking up early on weekends, just to catch Leicester games, like I had with Fulham for much of my life. I loved every moment of it. I read every article and listened to every interview I could get my hands on. I’ve watched the high points of that season, Vardy’s volley vs Liverpool, Huth’s brace vs Man City, Hazard’s goal to clinch the title, etc. more time than I care to admit. I even got some of my family and friends most of whom didn’t care at all about football, to watch the games with me. Everyone was drawn to this amazing story.
  4. Claudio, you and your team reminded me why I fell in love with this game. Even as someone who had barely heard of Leicester before their miracle escape from relegation two seasons ago, I found myself pulling for you guys as hard as I rooted for any of my own teams, in any sport. You brought magic of football back to me. So regardless of how it ended, your time at Leicester will be remembered for the remarkable, unprecedented title you won, but perhaps more importantly, for me and many like me, it will be remembered as the reason I am football fan and for that I am eternally grateful.
  5. Sincerely,
  6. A Thankful Fan of Football.
