  1. Mr. Cake screams in terror as he gets thrown through the display window of Sugarcube Corner, a monstrous changeling lunging out after him moments after. It hovers in the air above him, snarling at him as it rears back for the final blow.
  2.
  3. A flash of colour rockets into the changeling's face and sends it flying in an arc. The mystery character smiles coyly as he swaggers up to Mr. Cake, helping him up.
  4.
  5. "Oh, thank you, thank you! I thought I was gonna die there!" is all Cake manages to say before the changeling charged towards his odd savior.
  6.
  7. The satyr jumped at the last moment, stomping down onto the changeling before pulling a cane crowned by a large jewel from his sleeve, blasting the changeling with a white light as he jumps off of it again, causing it to vanish.
  8.
  9. The satyr made an extravagant twirl with the cane as he put it behind his back, causing it to vanish.
  10.
  11. "That's the last time you mess with the beauty of the Magician."
  12.
  13. Mr. Cake looked on with a stunned expression, but quickly pulled together and cheered for his savior.
  14. "Thank you Magician! Thank you so much! Who knows what would have happened had you not come!"
  15.
  16. "Oh, there's no need for that. Us Jupityrs are meant for this sort of work." The Magician gracefully refused the praise as he pranced away, vanishing in a sudden cloud of smoke.
  17.
  18. ---
  19.
  20. In the garden of Rarity's Boutique, Pogo and Garret sat on the terrace talking about their latest conquest.
  21.
  22. "I thought changelings were much harder," Garret mused as he held up a small pearl containing a swirling green essence.
  23.
  24. "Garret, we have to talk," Pogo said. "How come whenever somebody becomes a Jupityr with you, it always wears a dress? It's been nagging me ever since we found out that we were perfectly matched."
  25.
  26. "As I told you before Pogo, the Jupityr's attire changes according to the two fused personalities. That's why all of your Jupityrs turn out prancing and carefree."
  27.
  28. Garret stood up, stashing the pearl away in a leather pouch fastened to his belt. "Either way, three more changelings and we can make that pearl bracelet for Pinkie Pie. Why she wanted them green I'll never know."
  29.
  30. Pogo takes his leave, hurriedly mumbling about having forgotten to do his chores as he speeds off towards Sugarcube Corner once more.
  31.
  32. ---
  33.
  34. Garret idly walked on the streets of Ponyville, wondering what to do with the rest of the day. The sun had only just reached its zenith and he'd already become bored.
  35.
  36. While the satyr scare had settled relatively recently, there was still very few ponies who were daring to actually hiring satyrs as help. They were still seen as something foreign and were thus wary of the potential mayhem they could cause.
  37.
  38. As he was sitting on the rim of the town square's fountain and mused about the recent past, Garret finally had a sudden flash of inspiration strike him and started to run towards Sweet Apple Acres.
  39.
  40. ---
  41.
  42. "Uh, Hope? Are you sure this is a good idea?"
  43.
  44. Candy was sitting on the roof of her home, Hope standing tall and proud near the weathervane, wielding an odd looking staff.
  45.
  46. "Of course I'm sure. If this doodad works, we'll know for sure how to get to the world of humans! Now's not the time to think of consequences!"
  47.
  48. She twirled the staff over her head before embedding it into the roof tiles.
  49.
  50. "Oh spirit of knowledge, grant us knowledge of the world that was never meant to touch upon this land! Show us the way to worlds beyond ours!"
  51.
  52. Candy grew evermore uneasy as she could feel the very air get charged with static electricity, becoming more and more fearful as she saw the ominous thunderclouds gather above Hope.
  53.
  54. "Hope, get back!"
  55.
  56. Candy lunged forward to grab Hope's shirt, almost losing her grip on her as she lost balance and slid down the roof.
  57.
  58. "What are you doing Candoh..."
  59.
  60. Hope's anger vanished instantly as she saw the black cloud. She scurried up to Candy, the two hugging eachother as their previous excitement had been swapped with fearfulness.
  61.
  62. They both yelp in shock as a lightning bolt strikes down on the staff, causing it to send out a huge puff of smoke around it, obscuring all vision as the cracking of stone is heard.
  63.
  64. The smoke lifts not long after, revealing a large, rocky crocodile staring hungrily at the satyrs. The roof makes creaking noises as the crocodile takes careful, awkward steps towards the girls.
  65.
  66. Hope gets stricken by realization as the roof under the stony reptile began to make splintering noises. She stood up, dragging Candy along as well and looked her in the eyes. "We have to get this thing off the roof and someplace where it won't attack others!"
  67.
  68. Candy swallows the lump in her throat and nods. She held Hope's hands as they shouted in unison, determination filling their eyes.
  69.
  70. "Saddle up! Hope and Candy, Valkyrie of the Jupityrs!"
  71.
  72. The two satyrs become enveloped in an orb of light, exploding into one slightly taller, armored satyr. She draws her sword, poised to strike at the beast.
  73.
  74. The rockodile lets out an enraged snarl as it suddenly charges at the satyr, tearing up rooftiles and wood along the way.
  75.
  76. The satyr crouched down as it lunges for her, pressing her shield into the underside of the beast as she grits her teeth and launches the rockodile down into the yard.
  77.
  78. ---
  79.
  80. Twist was busy attending to a large clump of dough, kneading it before setting it in a bowl on the kitchen counter. As she was rooting through the cupboards to find a piece of cloth that wasn't currently being washed or hung out to dry, she heard the roof creak and crack, ending with a loud thump and shattering of a plate from the counter.
  81.
  82. She turns around and sees to her own horror the bowl her family's owned for generation had been shattered by the wooden stake sticking out of the mess of shards and dough. Twist stomps outside to shout at the two satyrs, but dashes back inside when she notices a large monster plummeting down into the backyard.
  83.
  84. The Valkyrie lands next to the reptile as it gets back on its feet, deftly sidestepping its immediate lunge. Mumbling a few prayers to her sword, she begins a charge against the monster as the sword starts to shine a brilliant gold.
  85.
  86. The rockodile answers in kind by attempting a full-body tackle, realizing too late that the Valkyrie skid to a halt as she took a batter's stance, swinging at the monster as it came into range.
  87.
  88. The monster roars in anger as it is sent flying towards the Everfree forest, Valkyrie following the trajectory with her eyes. As it vanishes from her line of sight, she brushes dirt off of her shoulder as she begins to glow softly, suddenly splitting back into Hope and Candy.
  89.
  90. They both fall onto their backs as they try to calm down from their exhausted states.
  91.
  92. Twist storms out of the house as she furiously looms over the satyrs.
  93. "What did you do THIS time?! I told you that Hope's accursed piece of junk would produce misery for all of us! Now we have to pay for a new roof!"
  94.
  95. Twist's anger reached levels beyond belief as she looks upon the two satyrs gasping for breath. Eventually, she shakingly takes a deep breath, helping both girls onto their feet before lightly depositing Candy on the couch as she walked Hope home.
  96.
  97. "Um, sorry about the roof, Mrs Twist," Hope says as she walked next to the redheaded mare. Twist smiles, looking up at her daughter's friend.
  98. "It's fine, Hope. But you will have to pay part of the bill. What were you doing up there, anyway?"
  99.
  100. Hope was fidgeting as she came up with a plausible answer. "U-uh, well, as you said, I just wanted to see what the staff was capable of. I had no intention of wrecking your roof, honest!"
  101.
  102. Twist sighs as she slowly shakes her head. "Curiosity's killed the cat once before. It's not afraid of doing it again, y'know."
  103.
  104. Hope apologizes once more as they reach her home.
  105. "Well, take care Hope." Twist turns towards the Ponyville town center as she begins to walk back.
  106.
  107. As the satyr looks at Candy's mother walking away, her fists clench as an eager smile crawls up her face. She was going to crack the mysteries of that staff. She just knew it!
