  15. This page exists only to help migrate existing data encrypted by
  16. TrueCrypt.<br>

  18. The development of TrueCrypt was ended in 5/2014 after Microsoft
  19. terminated support of Windows XP. Windows 8/7/Vista and later offer
  20. integrated support for encrypted disks and virtual disk images.
  21. Such integrated support is also available on other platforms (click
  22. <a href="OtherPlatforms.html">here</a> for more information).
  23. You should migrate any data encrypted by TrueCrypt to encrypted disks
  24. or virtual disk images supported on your platform.<br>

  27. <span style="font-weight: bold; font-size: x-large;">Migrating
  28. from TrueCrypt to
  29. BitLocker:<br>
  30. </span><br>
  31. <span style="font-weight: bold; font-size: large;">If you have the
  32. system drive encrypted by TrueCrypt:</span><br>

  34.   <li>Encrypt the drive by BitLocker first. Open the Explorer:<br>

  41. installed) using the right mouse button and select <span

  65. menu and select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Permanently Decrypt
  66. System Drive</span>).<br>

  71. non-system drive
  72. encrypted by TrueCrypt:</span><br>

  74.   <li>If you have a spare or backup drive (having sufficient space
  75. to store all data you need to migrate to BitLocker), encrypt it by
  76. BitLocker (click the drive in Explorer using the right mouse
  77. button and select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Turn on BitLocker</span>):<br>

  86.   <li>Copy all data from the drive encrypted by TrueCrypt to the drive
  87. encrypted by BitLocker.<br>

  89. If you do not have a spare drive, first decrypt the drive encrypted by
  90. TrueCrypt. Select the drive in TrueCrypt, open the <span
  91. style="font-weight: bold;">Volumes</span>
  92. menu
  93. and select <span style="font-weight: bold;">Permanently Decrypt</span>
  94. item (available in version 7.2). Then encrypt the drive
  95. by BitLocker.<br>

  97. To mount a drive encrypted by BitLocker, open the drive in Explorer.<br>
  98.     <br>
  99. To dismount a removable drive encrypted by BitLocker, use <span
  100. style="font-weight: bold;">Eject</span> menu item or <span
  101. style="font-weight: bold;">Safely Remove</span> icon:<br>

  105. To dismount a non-removable drive encrypted by BitLocker, use <span
  106. style="font-weight: bold;">Offline</span> item in the context menu of
  107. the drive in <span style="font-weight: bold;">Disk Management</span>
