  1. Hi Riley,
  2.
  3. How’s it going? I really appreciate all the work you have done for the emulation community, especially for the upcoming 2.0 version of GBA4iOS. Great job :)
  4.
  5. Anyways, I wanted to let you know that I am no longer able to access your beta test through TestFlight - is there another method I am missing out on? Also, I wanted to see if there are ways for us to strengthen our partnership together? For example, I could feature promote GBA4iOS more or even host/distribute you emulator through our servers (all costs covered by us, of course).
  6.
  7. Please let me know!
  8.
  9. Thanks,
  10.
  11. John

  14.
  15. Hey John!
  16.
  17. I know lots of people were having issues with TestFlight recently, but I thought I ended up resolving them all. Did you happen to get a new iOS device recently that you're trying to install the app on?
  18.
  19. As for a partnership, I'd love to talk about possibilities! I'm fine with hosting version 2.0 of GBA4iOS myself, but am very much open to cross promotion. What would you have in mind on my end? I plan on keeping both gba4iosapp.com and rileytestut.com ad-free for the foreseeable future, but anything else you have in mind I may be open to.
  20.
  21. Very sorry again about the TestFlight issues, if you haven't changed your device just email back because I have an alternative method that should work for you!
  22. Riley

  25.
  26. Hi Riley,
  27.
  28. Yes - I upgraded to a iPhone 5s a while back so I think that may be it. Is there any way for my device to be approved under the account [redacted]?
  29.
  30. I can promote your app on both my web and mobile sites and even make GBA4iOS our exclusive GBA emulator for iOS. For 2.0, how does your ROM search function work? Is it still redirecting to Google search results for "download roms gba gameboy advance”? Is it possible to have it redirect directly to CoolROM?
  31.
  32. My goal is to have GBA4iOS and CoolROM integrated seamlessly to enhance the user experience as much as possible. Let me know what you think.
  33.
  34. Thanks,
  35.
  36. John
  37.

  39.
  40. Ah, that would be it then. Unfortunately, I don't have any way to add the new device to TestFlight group, but there is an alternative that's almost as easy. However, it's very important you don't share it with anyone, since if it leaks Apple could shut it down, meaning I would be unable to release GBA4iOS after all this time. So make sure to only use this link for your own personal devices! The link is:
  41.
  42. [Nice try, but I'm not reproducing the link]
  43.
  44. Just open that link on your iOS device and tap the Install GBA4iOS link. As for the in-app download link, currently it does a a google search for "download GBA rome coolrom", but I'd be more than willing to direct it straight to coolrom.com. Do you have a preference for what page it would take the user to? As in, top 25 rated games, or top downloaded, etc.?
  45.
  46. I definitely agree, the less taps it takes for the user to download a ROM, the better it is for the user!
  47. Riley
  48.
  49. ============
  50.
  51. Thanks for the direct link - it will only be used to install the app on my personal device and that’s it.
  52.
  53. As for the pages, I think the most convenient for users would be (depending on which tab they selected):
  54.
  55. ALL/GBA: http://m.coolrom.com/roms/gba/
  56. GBC: http://m.coolrom.com/roms/gbc/
  57.
  58. These pages contain the option to browse Featured Games, By Letter, By Genre, Top 25 Downloaded or Top 25 Rated.
  59.
  60. When clicking to download a ROM on CR, I noticed that the ROM Name field is empty. For convenience sake, could you automatically populate it with the ROM name, or is there something I need to do on my end to make it work?
  61.
  62. John
  63.
  64. ============
  65.
  66. Awesome, the app will take you right to those links in the next beta!
  67.
  68. I was actually going to ask about the naming ROMs thing. I haven't been able to find a way to retrieve the name of the ROM itself from the site, only the filename (which is typically just a bunch of letters and numbers). Do you know from a technical viewpoint what I would have to do to get the proper name for the file? Sorry this sounds so vague.
  69.

  73.
  74. Sounds good!
  75.
  76. To be honest I am not quite sure what the issue is, but it sounds like it’s possible that the browser you are using to download ROMs is blocking all header information (containing file name, file size, etc.). Is there a way you can enable header data? I had a similar issue with ZoD when integrating with gpSPhone.

  81.
  82. Hi Riley,
  83.
  84. It seems like you figured out how to populate the ROM names properly now :) The links to my site look great also; however, could you please change them to the following so I can get more data?
  85.
  86. ALL/GBA: http://m.coolrom.com/roms/gba/?utm_source=gba4ios&utm_medium=partnerships&utm_campaign=gba4ios
  87.
  88. GBC: http://m.coolrom.com/roms/gbc/?utm_source=gba4ios&utm_medium=partnerships&utm_campaign=gba4ios
  89.
  90. Looking forward to your GM release and our successful partnership.
  91.
  92. Thanks!
  93.
  94. John

  96. =============
  97.
  98. Hey Riley,
  99.
  100. I just saw your tweets regarding your hosting issues; I have a bunch of file servers and should be able to help you host GBA4iOS for free with no problems.
  101.
  102. You just need a HTTPS link?
  103.
  104. John
  105.
  106. =============
  107.
  108. Hi John,
  109.
  110. Wow, that'd be incredible if you could really do that. You're correct, all I need is an HTTPS link for both the .plist and .ipa files. However, right now I've averaging about 100,000 downloads a day, which is appropriately 500GB of daily bandwidth. Is that an acceptable amount? It's ok if it isn't!
  111.
  112. Another question, is it at all possible for me to have access to a particular part of the server so I can upload/update the app myself? This isn't essential, but that way I would be able to push bug fixes at anytime without having to bother you to update the app for me. Again, this isn't a necessity, and I understand if this just isn't possible!
  113.
  114. Thanks for your offer, hoping we can make it work out!
  115. Riley
  116.
  117. =============
  118.
  119. Hi Riley,
  120.
  121. Not a problem. Sorry it took a little while to have everything set up, but here is your FTP login info:
  122.
  123. [Redacted]
  124.
  125. Let me know if you experience any issues!
  126.
  127. John
  128.
  129. =============
  130.
  131. Hey again,
  132.
  133. Sorry for the late reply, but I did manage to get everything up and running. Thank you so much for this, I don't know what I would've done without you! :)
  134.
  135. Riley
  136.

  138.
  139. Hi Riley,
  140.
  141. Great! Hopefully this will stabilize the distribution of GBA4iOS for the long haul :)
  142.
  143. John
