The book the young man and the see contains many examples of the habit of mind Stick at It

The first example is when he was trying to fix the Mary rose and everything wasn't working and then he thought of the idea to get Mr Woodwell to help and he could help with the boat but not the motor which Skiffy would have to pay a lot of money to get fixed.

The Second example is when he was trying to get lobster to pay for the engine and tyler croft kept cutting the traps and he didn't know who was cutting them he tried to find out who it was and catch him red handed then he found out it was tyler and but he could do anything.

The Third example is that when he was throwing the harpoon near the end of the book and his arms were getting worn out and sore and he kept throwing the harpoon until he got the fish, but when he caught the fish he couldn't pull it up because his arms were too tired.
