  8. And here's how the insects are adapting to our pesticides, which causes us to get into a genetic arms race with insects. This spurred the biotech firms to develop strains specifically resistant to pests, so we don't have to use pesticide. Basically we're giving our plants M-16s and training up their own Taliban to throw off the Soviets.

  10. The USDA has come to the conclusion that purchasing solely organic food costs anywhere from $4,000-$10,000 more per household, per year. This is where I got my first conclusion that organic food is irresponsibly wasteful. And you're basically eating it because peasants can't afford it. Or because it gives you the bum tickly feel goods.
