They've got to be hoping for a rescue party. They've been here most of a day already, so hopefully they've had enough time to catch their breath and start figuring out what they need to do."

  20. [2016-03-23 13:32:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 3CopyCat gets her suit's own Tag-Tracking system online (thanks to Parlay entirely) and then takes to the air once more. "I'll try a sweep around to look for the tag." Another series of grey flashes light up parts of the clouds high above.
  21. [2016-03-23 13:32:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Bookwright, CopyCat, Golden_Dream and Shatara all see a massive, dark form slithering between the clouds. While very little was visible, and only very briefly, Golden_Dream recognizes the form of the Quetzalcoatl Empress!

  24. [2016-03-23 13:33:16] <Mare-Do-Well> 3CopyCat poses dramatically in the air, clad head-to-hoof in Get_Lost-crafted power armour. "Right now speed is of the essence. I put my trust in Get_Lost's abilities to keep me safe."
  25. [2016-03-23 13:33:25] <Mare-Do-Well> 3At another series of lightning flashes, Mare-Do-Well tells CopyCat, "I think you might get a chance to test that. We've got incoming."
  26. [2016-03-23 13:33:32] <Mare-Do-Well> 3CopyCat grumbles. "Me and my big mouth."
  27. [2016-03-23 13:33:42] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A final flash, stoutly more brilliant than before as a bolt of grey lightning strikes the lake, reveals the murder of ahools swooping towards the ponies and zebras on shore.
  28. [2016-03-23 13:33:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Bookwright blanches as the ahools appear. "Oh heck. Oh hecking heck."

  30. [2016-03-23 13:34:11] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mitzi bares her claws and growls. She didn't know what those things were, but her friends reaction to them told her enough.

  35. [2016-03-23 13:37:45] * Get_Lost does the most medical possible thing: dives for cover behind shooty pones
  36. [2016-03-23 13:41:13] * Golden_Dream jumps up to get ready to fire. The horrible entropic magic inside of her disagreed. Entropic magic won out, and she wound up almost dropping her gun. "... I can't take from these things."
  37. [2016-03-23 13:44:28] * Mare-Do-Well 3stares. Quickly, she asks, "Fight or run?"
  38. [2016-03-23 13:45:50] * Get_Lost is not the war couselor, will do whatever she is told when under attack
  39. [2016-03-23 13:46:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"If you want to run, I can totally distract them, and give you time," Rainbow Dash offers. "After all, it's not like they can kill me."
  40. [2016-03-23 13:47:53] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"If you want to fight, I'll... figure out something." She winces. "But I've got to tell you, I don't really feel... right."
  41. [2016-03-23 13:49:01] * Golden_Dream quickly adds, "M' answer's run. We ain't gonna get anythin' out of fightin' these things. It's pointless."
  42. [2016-03-23 13:49:13] * Golden_Dream starts putting one hoof in front of the other.
  43. [2016-03-23 13:51:03] * Mitzi keeps her claws bared, but the flying beasts were nearly as big as her, and there were many if them. She stands her ground, but keeps her tread light in case her friends decided to run
  44. [2016-03-23 13:57:57] * Get_Lost follows the others, run is usually a good idea
  45. [2016-03-23 13:59:44] * Golden_Dream runs!
  46. [2016-03-23 14:02:36] * Mare-Do-Well 3shoots into the air, aiming to close the distance with the ahools. Her flight speed noticably drops after the initial burst, but she is well on her way.
  47. [2016-03-23 14:02:57] * Mitzi sees her friends start to run and gets an idea. It would be easy for big bays to see in the dark, but not through something else
  48. [2016-03-23 14:03:24] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The ahools are swift enough that they close the distance with the ghost of Rainbow Dash quickly.
  49. [2016-03-23 14:03:58] <Mitzi> Letting her old instincts out, Mitzi tears into the ground. Rather than digging a hole for herself however, she throws up a massive cloud of duet and dust to cover their flight

  51. [2016-03-23 14:08:47] * Mare-Do-Well 3focuses, pushing herself as hard as she can. Her desire is to create a sonic rainboom (or whatever the equivalent will be in this sunless world), but she quickly realizes that she isn't going anywhere near fast enough. And the more she pushes, the more a strange fatigue pulls at her. .
  52. [2016-03-23 14:09:33] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Still... her eyes narrow and a smile breaks across her muzzle. She has other tricks up her sleeves.
  53. [2016-03-23 14:10:59] * Get_Lost decides that running with the face is the best option, then tries doing the sonic with a little roll on the ground, then tries the sloth
  54. [2016-03-23 14:15:10] * Get_Lost is now running back on the floor, hooves in the air
  55. [2016-03-23 14:15:28] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The ponies run, with Mitzi kicking up a cloud of dust to further obscure them. Golden_Dream follows Shatara into the dark forest at full speed. Bookwright and Noble_Heart follow after, but the terrain prevents them from managing a full gallop as they skirt twisted bushes and leafless trees.
  56. [2016-03-23 14:16:46] <Mitzi> Once her friends are out of the way, she burrows into the ground with blinding speed, then begins tunneling in the direction her friends went, following the tremors of their hooffalls from below
  57. [2016-03-23 14:17:44] <Mare-Do-Well> 3There is a bright grey flash in the air behind the fleeing friends as Rainbow Dash meets with the ahools and unleashes her Buccaneer Blaze.
  58. [2016-03-23 14:18:12] * Get_Lost has no real idea of how she managed to, but is with the others
  59. [2016-03-23 14:36:41] * CopyCat aids Get_Lost as she runs. Surreptitiously, of course. Like a mom helping to keep her filly upright on her first bicycle. This generally involved making sure that's Get's hooves were on the ground and pointed in the right direction.
  60. [2016-03-23 14:37:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara is in the lead, weaving through the black shapes of trees, dodging branches, when he spots light up ahead. A soft, strange, colored light.
  61. [2016-03-23 14:41:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream is right behind him, and she too notices the multi-hued glow ahead.
  62. [2016-03-23 14:44:00] * Get_Lost is mostly herded into the safe path. still, she runs like some sort of stage machine, with hooves shooting in every direction at the same time
  63. [2016-03-23 14:44:16] * Bookwright is trying very hard not to trip and stumble too badly
  64. [2016-03-23 14:45:21] * Shatara tries to get a better angle on the anamoly while keeping up a quick pace
  65. [2016-03-23 14:51:09] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara soon comes upon the source of the light: a patch of bioluminescent mushrooms. The mushrooms are quite large, ranging from the size of a small pet to twice the height of an alicorn, and radiate with faint lights of green, purple, orange and pink.
  66. [2016-03-23 14:53:03] * Golden_Dream sprints towards the light, slinging her shotgun down lower so she can grab at it when she comes to the threat ahead!
  67. [2016-03-23 14:53:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Around them, other plants grow -- ferns and fronds like those that filled the Tenochtitlan Basin. As Shatara nears, he feels the air grow much warmer.
  68. [2016-03-23 14:57:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mitzi's claws carry her through the ground, digging swiftly through dirt and stone alike... until they slice through a layer of stone and find open air. Hot air seeps through the opening she finds she has carved in the wall of an underground channel.
  69. [2016-03-23 14:58:18] * Mitzi flails a bit comically and throws a claw against the cliff wall to keep her from plummetting
  70. [2016-03-23 15:03:54] * Shatara pauses and sweeps around the shroomy clearing for threats, getting a feeling it would be a perfect place for an ambush
  71. [2016-03-23 15:07:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara spots no other threats, but does notice other, similar patches of light in the darkness of the forest. From the few he can see (without exposing himself to possible ahools), they seem to fall at regular intervals and fall along a fairly straight line.
  72. [2016-03-23 15:07:16] * Get_Lost stops running more or less when she bumps into a catbirb's massive plot "eep! sorry"
  73. [2016-03-23 15:09:31] * Golden_Dream sweeps her gun to... The completely friggin' innocuous mushrooms. She always found fungus creepy for some reason, but mildly creepy beat outright threatening any day of the week. "Lemme take a look at these things." She said, slightly out of breath.
  74. [2016-03-23 15:13:39] * Shatara keeps overwatch, making sure everyone's coming together and not being strung out, barely avoiding being bowled over by Get_Lost. "These patches seem to be...regular. I think someone made them."
  75. [2016-03-23 15:14:45] * Mitzi looks for a way to claw her way back to the surface
  76. [2016-03-23 15:14:59] * Get_Lost "you mean... like some sort of zen garden?" activate all of her special visions and tries to find a parttern into the plants disposition in the tach
  77. [2016-03-23 15:16:23] * Bookwright "If this is a garden it's the weirdest one I've ever seen."
  78. [2016-03-23 15:17:04] * Get_Lost "i would like a garden like this one at home... ifi ever have a home... or a family"
  79. [2016-03-23 15:18:19] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mitzi looks about. There is a very faint light above. As she claws her way up the wall, she can hear the voices of her friends. She reaches the ceiling of the channel, then works her way towards the light.
  80. [2016-03-23 15:18:59] * Mitzi starts to dig her way up through the ceiling, but takes care to do so enough distance away from her friends to avoid collapsing the earth beneath them
  81. [2016-03-23 15:20:39] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream sees Mitzi come up from the ground beneath an orange mushroom that is just tall enough to substitute as a hellhound umbrella (if it were raining).
  82. [2016-03-23 15:22:48] * Mitzi looks around at her friends, then up at the mushrooms, then pulls herself up onto the ground. "Dere's uh big cave below us."
  83. [2016-03-23 15:26:25] * Golden_Dream steps under a pink mushroom. "I c'n tell."
  84. [2016-03-23 15:26:54] <Shatara> "Probably not coincidence. What kind of cave?"
  85. [2016-03-23 15:27:38] * Mitzi describes it with her tunneling, digging, gem mining knowhow, or to the best of her ability at any rate
  86. [2016-03-23 15:28:29] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream examines the mushrooms. They are actually quite unlike any she has seen or heard of before. Her examinations, however, also reveal a hole in the ground, small and perfectly square with bars of petrified bamboo. There is heated air coming up from it.
  87. [2016-03-23 15:28:48] * Get_Lost "mitzi, can you ssniff our pirate friends?"
  88. [2016-03-23 15:29:50] * Mitzi thinks a moment, then starts sniffing around
  89. [2016-03-23 15:30:07] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Golden_Dream is suddenly reminded of a passage from Daring Do's unpublished prequel:
  90. [2016-03-23 15:30:17] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"Interesting note: there’s a whole network of tunnels under the Tenochtitlan Basin that run up to the volcanic mountains of the dragons to the southeast. Whoever created these temples were engineering savants, and used those tunnels to create heated bathing pools, steam-powered stone elevators and the occasional lava-traps..."
  91. [2016-03-23 15:32:56] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mitzi finds she is able to pick up multiple smells, as if a whole herd of zebras came through here yesterday. She thinks the pirate zebras might be amongst them.
  92. [2016-03-23 15:33:26] * Mitzi raises an eyebrow. "Uh smell stripey ponees. Lots uv dem. More den yur friends."
  93. [2016-03-23 15:36:36] * Golden_Dream furrows her brow. "Can y' track 'em?" She notes, thinking about the prequel a bit. "... Makes sense, Daring Do."
  94. [2016-03-23 15:37:25] * Shatara hmms. "Maybe we've stumbled upon an...underground resistance?"
  95. [2016-03-23 15:38:17] * Bookwright "Hopefully these lava tubes don't have lava in them anymore."
  96. [2016-03-23 15:42:38] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana looks at the vent that Golden_Dream found. "This looks just like the vents in the Tenochtitlan Basin..." He waves a hoof over it. "There used to be huge clockwork mechanisms that switched the lava flows on and off. From the heat, I bet that lava still runs through these..." He looks at Mitzi. "You got really lucky this one wasn't 'on' today."
  97. [2016-03-23 15:43:39] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana frowns, "But the tunnels in the Basin are in ruins. Most of them collapsed centuries ago."
  98. [2016-03-23 15:45:42] * Golden_Dream frowns. "No, they ain't."
  99. [2016-03-23 15:46:00] * Mitzi frowns at Mwana. "Lava eez no fun. Uh'm glad fur dis luck."
  100. [2016-03-23 15:46:13] <Shatara> "I'm guessing there was continued need of these in this world, so they were maintained..."
  101. [2016-03-23 15:46:35] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The other zebra pirates begin looking at the vent and talking amongst themselves.
  102. [2016-03-23 15:50:11] <Mare-Do-Well> 3After listening in on the discussion, Mwana cringes. He looks to Shatara and says, "First mate Vespertilio had another theory."
  103. [2016-03-23 15:50:44] * Shatara tilts hishead. "Oh?"
  104. [2016-03-23 15:51:22] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The young zebra nods, ears back. "Cordus thinks the portal didn't open to another /world/ at all."
  105. [2016-03-23 15:55:33] * Golden_Dream slowly blinks. "Gee, what were yer' first clue? Th' Empress rollin' around like she owns th' place even though we sealed her up with th' Shield o' Rasdon? Bad shit's gotta come from somewhere."
  106. [2016-03-23 15:56:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana gives Golden_Dream a look.
  107. [2016-03-23 15:56:43] * Golden_Dream sighs. "Sorry. Lil' more testy than normal. What with that we jus' ran fer' our lives and all."
  108. [2016-03-23 15:57:17] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana then says, "He thinks we didn't go to another place at all. He thinks we went to another /time/." Mwana looks down at the vent. Then up to Shatara. "And I think he might be right."
  109. [2016-03-23 15:57:25] * Get_Lost "run for our lives and find your bedfriends" corrects
  110. [2016-03-23 15:58:43] * Get_Lost "another time? that's interesting.... it could be true"
  111. [2016-03-23 15:58:45] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"He thinks the Empress rules here because the Radiant Shield of Rasdon hasn't been built yet."
  112. [2016-03-23 15:59:37] * Bookwright "I think your plan to evacuate to a safer world has gone busto."
  113. [2016-03-23 16:00:16] * Shatara hmms. "I see. That would seem consistent. Though practically speaking, 'not built yet' and 'wasn't built at all' probably have similar outcomes...I suppose time travel might be more likely than alternate universes."
  114. [2016-03-23 16:00:45] * Golden_Dream hisses through her teeth. "Picked a helluva place to pop out." She looks out. "... But it makes sense. We don't got a whole lot of sample size, but if all them tunnels /are/ fucked back when we were, then it makes sense that we found one intact 'cause we ain't when we were."
  115. [2016-03-23 16:00:58] * Golden_Dream rubs her head. "Time travel makes pronouns confusin'."
  116. [2016-03-23 16:01:05] * Get_Lost "yeah but it won't be that bad! we could always make a tv show out of this! something by the name of equestrianova, with prehistoric monsters! but we will focus on tee drama just to enrage the fans"

  118. [2016-03-23 16:03:05] * Get_Lost "also, if we get the guys and go back before we change the past, it would be just purrfect"
  119. [2016-03-23 16:05:25] * Golden_Dream quickly notes, "Yeah, let's get th' hell outta here before we create a paradox or some shit."
  120. [2016-03-23 16:07:36] * Get_Lost "mind me: we could be in a totally different timeline, but we can't be sure of it"
  121. [2016-03-23 16:13:49] * Mare-Do-Well 3appears at the edge of the clearing. She stumbles forward and flumps down on the ground.
  122. [2016-03-23 16:14:03] * Mitzi looks to the rainbow pony in alarm.
  123. [2016-03-23 16:14:56] * Bookwright rushes over to Mare-Do-Well, despite being completely lacking in the "solid ghosts" category of knowledge.
  124. [2016-03-23 16:15:04] * Bookwright "What happened?""
  125. [2016-03-23 16:16:23] * Get_Lost eushes to the ghost and tries checking her, with little hope to be able to help
  126. [2016-03-23 16:16:44] * Mare-Do-Well 3groans. "I got their attention and lead them off in another direction, at least for now. But..." She sighs. Then closes her eyes. "Ugh, I feel so..." Her eyes open. "Actually, I kind feel better now. Just give me a bit, and I'll be fine."
  127. [2016-03-23 16:22:14] * Get_Lost mumbles for a short time, then offers "i think she is suffering from the temperature of the place"
  128. [2016-03-23 16:22:39] * Mare-Do-Well 3points out, "I'm a ghost. I don't have a temperature."
  129. [2016-03-23 16:24:37] * CopyCat nods. "That might be the issue."
  130. [2016-03-23 16:24:51] * Mare-Do-Well 3huhs? "huh?"
  131. [2016-03-23 16:25:05] * Get_Lost "i meant, the gold is giving trouble...."
  132. [2016-03-23 16:25:11] <Get_Lost> *cold
  133. [2016-03-23 16:25:35] * CopyCat then continues to Get_Lost, "Did you check her pulse?"
  134. [2016-03-23 16:25:55] * Mare-Do-Well 3points out, "I don't have a pulse. Ghost, remember."
  135. [2016-03-23 16:28:03] * Get_Lost "you probably drain some power from the temperature around, the hotter, the better. here it is freezing..." sighs and offers "no, copy, but i could" the mare looks at the ghost and proclaims "running diagnosis for pationt 001: rainbow dash. subject deceased, condition stable, all clear""
  136. [2016-03-23 16:29:03] * Mitzi raises an eyebrow at Get_Lost. "Dat not seem helpful."
  137. [2016-03-23 16:31:03] * Get_Lost "well, she should try to stay warm, that's all"
  138. [2016-03-23 16:32:30] * Mare-Do-Well 3blinks. Then blinks again. "Wait. Wait!" She stares at Get_Lost. "Are you saying that if I don't stay warm..."
  139. [2016-03-23 16:33:36] * Mare-Do-Well 3looks around. In a slightly panicked voice, she invokes the only thing she knows, "...I'm going to hibernate?"
  140. [2016-03-23 16:33:43] * Get_Lost "you could hybernate, or something like that... i honestly have no idea: i never had a ghost patient..."
  141. [2016-03-23 16:34:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3--- End of Session ---
