  1. Hello Aidan McQuay,
  2. Atlassian's continuous delivery service in the Cloud is evolving, bringing important changes to Bamboo Cloud. Today, we’re announcing the end-of-life for Bamboo Cloud, which will be discontinued from Jan 31, 2017 and in return we are giving you Bamboo Server for free for 1 year.
  3. Why is Atlassian sunsetting Bamboo Cloud?
  4. Shipping smaller releases more often is quickly becoming the favored continuous delivery (CD) approach for teams. With this shift in methodology, it has become clear that our current Cloud CD offering isn't the optimal solution for this type of workflow. Due to Bamboo Cloud architecture and the complexity of the underlying infrastructure, it is not possible for us to deliver the quality of service and the experience that our customers need.
  5. We're introducing a new CD service inside of Bitbucket Cloud called Bitbucket Pipelines that is currently in Beta. Bitbucket Pipelines offers an integrated code to deployment workflow within Bitbucket. We believe discontinuing Bamboo Cloud is the right thing to do for our customers as we can now focus on building an optimal cloud experience with Bitbucket Pipelines and improving Bamboo Server for large software teams. With the addition of Pipelines, it didn't make sense to have two continuous delivery options in the Cloud. For answers to all FAQs, see here.
  6. How this affects you
  7. Bamboo Cloud service will end January 31, 2017, but you can continue to renew your monthly subscription until the service ends. Please check out the migration options below.
  8. Alternative Atlassian continuous delivery solutions
  9. We realize that this news might be quite unexpected, but you have other options with Atlassian. Bamboo Server allows you to build and ship with similar features and functionality as Bamboo Cloud, only behind the firewall. More about Bamboo Server:
  10.
  11. Install Plugins from Atlassian Marketplace
  12. Use Git over SSH
  13. No more storage limits so you aren't constrained by a 25GB limit
  14. Up to 250 agent tier
  15.
  16. All Bamboo Cloud customers will be offered a perpetual Bamboo Server license at the matching agent tier of their Cloud instance for free, including 12 months of maintenance and support until May 23, 2017. The licenses are available in your MyAtlassian account and you can visit the migration hub for technical steps on how to migrate to Bamboo Server to get started.
  17. While we recommend Bamboo Server for a close comparison to Bamboo Cloud, you can check out the beta of our new Cloud option, Bitbucket Pipelines here.
  18. Thank you for joining us on this adventure and we will see you soon in Bamboo's behind the firewall option, Bamboo Server. If you have any further questions, please reach out to Atlassian Support.
  19. Warm regards
  20. Alison Huselid, Product Line Manager, Bamboo
