Anonymity is a well discussed term that has been floating on the social media for as long as I can remember. The term is usually associated with something dark and dim, illegal and bad. When you start to critically think about the good and bads of anonymity, there are many surprising things that are not discussed so often.

Anonymity is described as being anonymous, something which has no face or identity. It might appear scary at first since you could be anyone or anything online, say anything you want or do so as well. How can there be a sense morality if being anonymous makes us feel morally and emotionally not obligated or responsible for our actions online? There are broad issues that have been brought forward by anonymity which has led to smaller and larger issues locally and worldwide.
Such events could be bullying or harassing someone. Anonymity can give one the tools to ruin someone's day or sense of safety without being responsible for it. When you are met with anonymity, it gives you a psychological state and a mindset where you are not bound down by rules. Best way to grasp it is as a phenomenon that has brought its own effects on how we act and react, but addressing these things as fast as we can is a key point to lowering crime and harassment caused by online anonymity.

Would the average person next to you associate anonymity with saving people if you asked them? Anonymity appears to be empowering in both positive and negative ways. People rely on anonymity a lot in their daily lives. One might seek an answer to an embarrassing question which is possible to do now. People have a need to express themselves freely on matters such as politics without getting verbally abused or targeted by others personally for their actions.This is where anonymity grants great safety and freedom to all of us, making it in my mind a human right.

Discussion of online anonymity reflects life itself by people siding with different opinions. In the end, life is about picking the lesser of the two evils.
