[15:15:09] <~Garlyle> It might have been snowing a couple days ago, but tonight the sky is clear; it's made it cold, but that hardly stops people, and you'd barely notice - with almost everyone in town out and about on the streets, it's actually fairly warm just from the body heat!
[15:17:46] <~Garlyle> Camellia, Kurt, and Reinhard are among those milling about the streets in the post-"HAPPY-NEW-YEARS"-scream.  The festivities are set to go all night long, though, and the fun has just begun!
[15:18:10] * Reinhard is wrapped up in a heavy coat despite the situation. Cold is an awful, terrible thing.
[15:18:35] <~Garlyle> The next major event to occur is supposed to be a 1AM fireworks show, but you've still got 45 minutes until it occurs.

[15:20:46] * Reinhard sits and watches the parade, taking an occasional sip from his drink. If there's a smile on his face, it's somewhat forced.

[15:30:07] <Camellia> Camellia frowns and gets on her tiptoes to look over the crowd. "Well, we might have to settle for someplace emptier. If we could get on a roof or something, Assam wouldn't have any trouble being so short."
[15:30:41] <~Garlyle> As the circus show passes, Camellia is suddenly aware there's a child standing in front of her, offering her a ticket.  A young boy, maybe ten or eleven, dressed in the uniform of the cirus.  "Hey, hey, miss!" He's trying to get her attention.
[15:31:37] <Camellia> "Hey. What's that?" Camellia flashes the kid a smile.
[15:32:18] <~Garlyle> The boy grins and hands her the ticket - practically forcing it into her hands.  "My family's circus is gonna be performing all over the country in the next couple months; be sure to come see our show live, okay?" he
[15:32:21] <Kurt> "It hate it when you say things that don't make any sense. I think you don't even know what it means. I think you're trying to be cryptic and creepy like grandpa."
[15:32:36] <~Garlyle> bows to her, and before she can refuse the gift, he hurries to find more people.
[15:33:13] <Reinhard> "Creepy? Grandfather was STRONG and WISE, with YEARS OF EXPERIENCE! Either way, if something doesn't make sense now, just think on it when you have time to. And until then, look at those bears go!"
[15:33:31] <Camellia> Camellia is about to say something, but the kid runs off. "Huh, but you didn't tell me where it'd be..." She shoves the ticket into her bag anyway.
[15:33:49] <~Garlyle> If you thought the bears were cool, you should see those Golurk doing the robot
[15:33:59] <~Garlyle> Oh hey there they are!
[15:34:38] <~Garlyle> And as they pass by in front of the von Fraenir brothers, the same young boy Camelia met gets in their view.  "Hey, hey!"

[15:35:59] * Kurt merely stares at the younger, shoutty boy. >:[
[15:36:02] <~Garlyle> The boy digs in his pockets and pulls out a couple tickets.  "You two look like cool people.  Here!  It's tickets to my family's circus.  We're gonna be all over the region the next couple months, so if you're in the area, come see us, okay?"
[15:36:23] * Reinhard takes them politely and pats his head. "I believe I will do just that, tank you very much!"
[15:36:52] <~Garlyle> The child gives that kind of adorable smile only a young child can manage, then looks back to see the parade moving on without him - and scurries off to continue his duties
[15:37:04] <Camellia> Camellia gives a sigh of resignation as she plucks two apricorn balls out of her bag, releasing Assam and Oolong. She bends down to Assam and gives a meek smile, "Sorry, I couldn't find a better spot than this. You might find it hard to see the parade from here, but it's better than nothing!"
[15:38:50] <~Garlyle> Assam doesn't seem as bothered by that as he is the general cold, frowning about it.  Oolong doesn't give a damn.
[15:40:14] <~Garlyle> As the parade moves onto its next show - oh wow those are pretty dancers but how the HELL are they handling the cold in dresses, even if they're long - the faintest sound reaches the ears of Camellia, Reinhard, and Kurt.
[15:40:47] <~Garlyle> It's almost imperceptible at first over all of the noise, and nobody around you seems to be hearing it - but the moment you first think you hear it and try to listen for it, it's definitely there.

[15:46:00] <~Garlyle> "Happy New Year, Wanderers!  Hope you're not too cold to function.  Bring your Pokemon to the roof of Ivory South Highschool.  Someone needs to be cooled off before the fireworks show begins."

[15:47:07] <Kurt> "Alright! Mission time!"
[15:47:11] <~Garlyle> A quick look shows that it's a bit of a distance from you, but not unreachable.
[15:47:36] * Kurt immediately takes off for the location, not even waiting to see Reinhard's reaction.
[15:47:46] * Reinhard snaps it closed, makes a VERY SERIOUS FACE, and lets out Yngvi.
[15:48:05] <Camellia> "Well, maybe we'll be able to see the fireworks better from on the roof." Camellia looks a bit hopeful as she motions for Assam and Oolong to follow her.

[15:51:04] <~Garlyle> The streets are packed as you move, people completely unaware that the Wanderers have already begun their first movements of the year.  It's actually a little tough at times to get through the crowds with any due speed.

[15:52:06] <~Garlyle> Reinhard has it pretty easy actually - people seem to think he's part of the parade, and tall Pokemon wiggle aside to give you room.
[15:53:52] <~Garlyle> Since he's got it a bit easier to travel, he's the first to arrive at the school grounds.  There's a couple cars parked, but the fences around the school are locked tight.  There's even security guards wandering around.  Other than that, the place is pretty dark; it's a couple stories high, so you can't see the roof from where you are.
[15:55:10] * Reinhard licks his lips and frowns more. "Think you can go higher?"

[15:56:36] : Camellia recalls Oolong and Assam, finding it easier to navigate the crowd this way. As she weaves between people, she jostles her lantern a bit. "Sorry!" she whispers into it as she continues to her destination.
[15:57:29] * Reinhard waves quietly to them.
[15:57:38] <~Garlyle> They are in time to see a Metang slowly floating its way up the side of the building, and its rider waving to them.

[15:58:25] <Camellia> "Three of us for this?" Camellia frowns a bit as she half-heartedly waves back. What could require three Wanderers on New Year's day?
[15:58:30] * Reinhard shrugs. Win some, lose some.
[15:59:28] <Kurt> "You don't even know what 'this' is! I mean, unless you know something besides what was on the call."
[16:00:09] * Kurt heads for the gate.
[16:00:10] <Camellia> "Aren't they just setting up the fireworks up there?" Camellia points up at the roof. "Oh, and I don't believe we've worked together before. Name's Camellia." She extends a hand toward Kurt.
[16:00:29] <~Garlyle> The gate heads for Kurt.  And by that, we mean it sits there, being locked.

[16:01:15] * Kurt quickly shakes Camellia's hand and kisses it, as a proper gentleman ought to, but his heart is not really in it. There's exciting MISSION to do and Reinhard is getting to do all of it first >:|

[16:02:15] <Camellia> Camellia is amused to see such an old-fashioned display of chivalry but says nothing of it.
[16:02:18] <~Garlyle> Reinhart is already halfway up towards the roof.  His Metang is taking its sweet time - it seems anything more than low altitude hovering is a little tricky for it.
[16:02:40] <Reinhard> "Don't worry, you can do this. Gives them time to catch up."
[16:03:00] <~Garlyle> The gate does not answer; but one of the guards turns his light towards them and hurries over.  "Hey, what're you up to, kid?  This place is locked up today, no getting in for your homework"
[16:03:45] <Camellia> Camellia walks up to the guard approaching Kurt and flashes her Pokedex. "Wanderer business. Mind letting us in?"
[16:04:45] <~Garlyle> The guard looks a little surprised to see the flash of the crest of the Wanderers guild, but then he nods and starts undoing the lock.  "Alright, but I don't know what you're doing here.  There's about ten minutes until the fireworks show starts, but they've got everything under control up there."
[16:05:15] <Camellia> "If they did, we wouldn't be here." there's a tinge of bitterness in Camellia's voice.
[16:05:27] <~Garlyle> Reinhard has made it to the roof by the time the gate is finally unlocked, and finds that whoever is supposed to have it under control is... not there.  All he can see is the fireworks, really.  And it's hard to make them out in the darkness of the rooftop but there's something really... wrong here.
[16:05:52] * Kurt tries to say "HOW DARE YOU TALK DOWN TO ME YOU INSOLENT PROLE, I AM KURTNIR ECKHART DRAKEBRAND VON FRAENIR, YOU WILL RESPECT ME" through a glare. He probably just ends up looking cute.
[16:06:05] * Reinhard disembarks and pats Yngvi, taking a very cautious step forward. "Hello? Is the crew here?"
[16:06:12] <~Garlyle> "Alright, alright, whatever," the guard pulls the gate open, then fishes for a key that he hands over to her.  "Here's the key to the place, you and the kid don't wreck anything, alright?"
[16:06:37] <~Garlyle> Reinhard is suddenly aware of the sounds of Pokemon's voices answering him.  Lots of them.
[16:07:18] <~Garlyle> There's a bundle of fireworks in the center, and it almost looks like they're moving.  That's unusual.  The sounds are coming from their direction, too.
[16:07:22] * Kurt does not waste time with venemous glares however, and sprints onward; no way he's letting Reinhard get more fun than him D:<

[16:07:54] <Camellia> "Thanks." Grabbing the key, Camellia turns to see Kurt dash off but follows only at a brisk jog.

[16:08:55] <~Garlyle> It's too dark to see well right now.  But he can hear -several- Pokemon.  They sound... terrified?

[16:10:35] <~Garlyle> Camellia and Kurt rush into the school and head upstairs; it's dimly lit so they can find things pretty easy.  Including the stairs up!  Up to the second floor, up to the third, and then the stairs leading up to the roof - until they trip over two unconscious bodies on the way.

[16:11:18] <~Garlyle> Reinhard gets closer, and the wrongness of the squirming fireworks suddenly hits him.  Because those are funny-shaped fireworks, even if he can only see their silhouettes.

[16:11:34] * Reinhard squints and slowly draws his whip.
[16:11:39] <~Garlyle> There's Pokemon tied to the fireworks.
[16:11:47] <Camellia> Camellia takes a second to catch her breath before calmly walking to one of the bodies, checking for a pulse.
[16:11:48] * Kurt shakes his head sadly as he kneels down to inspect the bodies. "Murder suicide no doubt. Probably lovers. Sad."
[16:11:57] * Reinhard blinks and stares for a second before rushing straight over.

[16:13:52] <~Garlyle> Reinhard is halfway through freeing a bound Spinda, when suddenly the place is much brighter and there's a burst of heat that can be felt from behind Reinhard, along with a wicked laugh.
[16:14:20] <Camellia> "Why would someone knock them out?" Camellia frowns. "And how did the Wanderers know they'd be knocked out to call us to help?"
[16:14:47] * Reinhard only takes a glance back. "If you fancy yourself some sort of supervillain, please set your delusions down and walk away. I rarely have time to speak to idiots."
[16:15:13] * Kurt lets out Riley, holding her in front of him like a gun. "Obviously someone wants to RUIN THE PARADE. C'mon Carmen or whatever, let's go before my brother solves everything without us!"

[16:16:18] <~Garlyle> There's someone standing behind Reinhard - and he seems none too pleased by the balktalk.  The warning squeal of fear from the Pokemon Reinhard is attempting to save is all the warning he gets before a burst of flame rolls just over his head.
[16:16:28] <Camellia> Camellia pulls out two apricorn balls, pauses, then returns one to her bag and releases just Oolong. "Oolong. Help me take a look past the door, will you?" (Using Channel, with Channel Friend)
