  1. [23:24:40] <`GM> [Ai lets loose a high-frequency sonic squeal in at attempt to disorient the creature; it seems to have no effect. Jonah steps on his foot wrong and simply tries to maintain his balance]
  2. [23:26:15] <`GM> [Wallberg, true to form, seems unconcerned by the potential threat of a fangly fang creature, and tries to unobtrusively sneak to the side for a better look]
  3. [23:27:15] <`GM> [Said fangly fang creature rocks back and forth in the middle of the rift dome. It has two stocky legs attached to a blob of a body, and a head without a neck full of gnarled teeth and no discernible eyes. A long scythe-like tail curls above it like a scorpion’s.]
  4. [23:29:52] <`GM> Wallberg: "Just look at the way its tail keeps balance and acts as a weapon at the same time..."
  5. [23:31:01] <Jonah> "SERIOUSLY THIS IS WHY I REQUEST AT LEAST A PISTOL WITH ME!"
  6. [23:31:28] <Jonah> "Not like it's going to work but AT LEAST IT'S BETTER THAN WRESTLING THIS LITTLE BUGGER!"
  7. [23:32:01] <`GM> [The creature picks up on the sudden outburst and moves surprisingly quickly on its stocky legs towards Jonah.]
  8. [23:32:24] <Jonah> "AAAAWW FUCCCCKK!"
  9. [23:32:42] * Jonah tosses random things in his reaches at the creature
  10. [23:34:45] <`GM> Wallberg: "God's sake, Jonah, look, no eyes, it tracks with other senses, keep it down!"
  11. [23:37:29] <Ai_> Ai shrieks at it again, acting as a turret.
  12. [23:38:55] <`GM> [The scythebeast lunges at Jonah and gets a good slash on his thigh. It seems undeterred by the shriek yet again, though its attentions are now drawn to the source of the noise]
  13. [23:39:16] <Jonah> "Bastard!"
  14. [23:42:21] <`GM> [Wallberg runs over to the emergency gun cabinet and unlocks it, grabbing an assault rifle and quickly tossing it to Jonah]
  15. [23:42:39] <`GM> Wallberg: "Oh fine, here, but keep it alive, damn it!"
  16. [23:43:55] <`GM> Wallberg: "You have NO idea how boring autopsys are compared to live capture!"
  17. [23:44:46] <Jonah> "I'm sparing you the job of autopsy-ing my arse!"
  18. [23:45:55] * Jonah does a quick check-ups and jam the magazine in.
  19. [23:46:39] <`GM> Wallberg: "Not my call; I've got orders to obtain LIVE specimens!"
  20. [23:51:18] <`GM> [The creature bobs and sways a few meters away from Ai, its tail twitching, then it slashes with considerable speed]
  21. [23:53:08] <Jonah> "not gonna brag, but I have /really/ good eyes."
  22. [23:53:36] * Jonah squeezes the trigger. Even with only iron sight, it proves no problem.
  23. [23:54:03] <Ai_> Ai remains still, and a resounding clang erupts as he blade connects and she flies through the air. Upon landing, however, she picks herself up without delay.
  24. [23:58:24] <`GM> [A bullet or four finds their mark in the beast's legs; it lets out a low-pitched grumble of pain, though the stockiness of the legs keeps it still fairly mobile]
  25. [23:59:22] <Jonah> "Eh, I guess 5.56 NATO rounds works for everyone, eldritch abomination or not."
  26. [00:01:54] <`GM> [Wallberg scowls at Jonah's over-assumptive comment, though he's back against the wall with a scoped rifle all the same.]
  27. [00:07:55] <`GM> [True to enraged animal instinct the beast jumps back to Jonah and rams him, knocking him to the ground with mismatched teeth uncomfortably close]
  28. [00:11:00] <Ai_> The android fires a tightened sonic beam, trying to avoid Jonah!
  29. [00:14:45] <`GM> [The noise finally seems to have found a mark, and the creature wobbles off of Jonah, thrashing on the ground but still very much a threat]
  30. [00:16:54] <`GM> [Wallberg continues to do an excellent job of not shooting.]
  31. [00:18:14] <Kirin> "Dude! You have a gun! How about using it sometimes?"
  32. [00:19:29] <`GM> Wallberg: "I don't have a clean shot; it's moving too much!"
  33. [00:19:54] <`GM> Wallberg: "It's not like I practice with this stuff all the time you know!"
  34. [00:20:14] <`GM> Wallberg: "Ain't that YOUR job?"
  35. [00:22:39] <Kirin> "I fly /planes/!"
  36. [00:25:46] <`GM> [As the beast thrashes to get back in its feet, its tail whips around and knocks Ai off her own feet in the process]
  37. [00:28:34] <Kirin> "oh right! You have tranq, Wally? Not sure it's gonna work but still worth a shot."
  38. [00:31:00] <`GM> Wallberg: "Or it works TOO well and kills the thing! Just back up and shoot the legs already!"
  39. [00:33:12] <Ai_> Ai promptly trips, landing directly on the base of her skull. Yet again, however, she simply stands up.
  40. [00:37:56] <`GM> [Jonah backs up and shoots the legs already. Whether or not he hits anything, the beast gets back onto its feet just the same.]
  41. [00:38:49] <Kirin> "bugger."
  42. [00:44:40] <Ai_> Ai repeats her standard formula , aiming for where the creature's ears should be.
  43. [00:47:24] <`GM> [It slumps forwards and then onto its side, emitting that same low-pitched grumbling as its tail goes limp. Its still conscious, but clearly not a threat)
  44. [00:50:24] <Ai_> She walks forward, relentlessly focusing her attack. Somehow, she still speaks.
  45. [00:50:38] <`GM> [Wallberg lifts up his rifle and puts his glasses back on]
  46. [00:50:48] <Ai_> "Continuing suppression to unconsciousness."
  47. [00:51:27] * Kirin is still keeping his aim up.
  48. [00:52:28] <`GM> [The creature continues to squirm and writhe under Ai's sonic blasts]
  49. [00:52:47] <`GM> Wallberg: "Jonah, Ai, we good?"
  50. [00:56:05] <`GM> [Wally starts to approach the three of them, inexpertly loosening the grip on his gun and letting the barrel weave to and fro]
  51. [00:56:14] <Ai_> Again, Ai somehow speaks without speaking. "Yes."
  52. [00:56:44] <Kirin> "Still a-ok."
  53. [00:57:32] <`GM> [Wallberg motions to the sizable gash on Jonah's thigh]
  54. [00:57:57] <`GM> Wallberg: "So that's what kids are calling o.k. today."
  55. [01:02:21] <Kirin> "Dude, I'm tough as a tank."
  56. [01:02:52] <Kirin> "well, plastic tank. It hurts like a bitch. I'm running on willpower now."
  57. [01:03:26] <`GM> "Well, don't forget to have Kate stitch it up for ya'."
  58. [01:05:42] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "Do NONE of you children have any common sense?! Return to the safe room immediately!"
  59. [01:06:15] <`GM> [The Colonel barks orders from the door to said safe room, having just arrived]
  60. [01:07:05] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "You have NO idea what the hell that thing could do!"
  61. [01:07:31] <ShiftingDunes> "The threat is incapable of harming me. I can suppress it."
  62. [01:08:28] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "I said back, all of you. Wallberg, you idiot, you should know better."
  63. [01:10:00] <Jonah> "..."
  64. [01:10:12] * Jonah silently stands down. Chain of command is a bitch.
  65. [01:11:42] <ShiftingDunes> "Understood."
  66. [01:13:18] <ShiftingDunes> Ai slowly walks towards the saferoom, keeping her head and the suppression field pointed at he creature, disregarding normal human head angles.
  67. [01:15:37] <`GM> [Wallberg trudges back to the safe room, dragging the gun behind him dejectedly]
  68. [01:17:02] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "Dr. Wallberg, give me that firearm."
  69. [01:19:37] <`GM> Wallberg: "Yes sir, sorry sir..."
  70. [01:20:39] <`GM> [The Colonel looks at him disapprovingly]
  71. [01:21:43] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "Do either of you two have anything to say for your actions?"
  72. [01:23:10] <Jonah> "just, uh, engaging in self-defense act, sir."
  73. [01:25:10] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "After running head-long up to it, without a weapon."
  74. [01:30:08] <Jonah> '...'
  75. [01:30:28] <Jonah> "...sssssomething like that, sir."
  76. [01:31:32] <ShiftingDunes> "As said, I am indestructible."
  77. [01:31:58] <ShiftingDunes> Ai speaks with her head behind turned 180 degrees.
  78. [01:33:15] <ShiftingDunes> "Furthermore, preventing death is a priority."
  79. [01:33:43] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "Precisely."
  80. [01:34:42] <`GM> [With that response, the Colonel levels Wallberg's gun and shoots the creature in the head three times.]
  81. [01:35:06] <Jonah> "and with all the effort..."
  82. [01:35:10] <`GM> Wallberg: "Sir! I wanted it ALIVE!"
  83. [01:35:19] * Jonah does an exasperated gesture behind his back.
  84. [01:36:08] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "It wanted you dead. Don't think I don't know you'd try to turn it into a pet, Wallberg."
  85. [01:37:03] <`GM> [Wallberg pulls at his semi-existent gelatin hair.]
  86. [01:37:10] <ShiftingDunes> Ai pauses, then rotates her head to face properly forward.
  87. [01:45:41] <ShiftingDunes> "It would be trivial for me to contain specimens of all kinds."
  88. [01:48:07] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "Which is why I'm not allowing you to, not if there is any doubt as to an creature's hostility."
  89. [01:49:26] <`GM> Wallberg: "Sir, we were given direct orders by the government to capture and study live specimens if possible! That's the whole reason we're here!"
  90. [01:50:23] <`GM> [The Colonel sighs as he shoots the beast once more for good measure; can never be too careful with things that come out the other side]
  91. [01:52:38] <`GM> Colonel Walt: "That's why the LAB is here. We are here to live our lives in peace, and safety. Scientific research comes only AFTER those, and NOT before. Do you understand, all of you?"
  92. [02:04:50] <Jonah> "Got it, boss."
  93. [02:06:56] <ShiftingDunes> "Understood."
