- Ugh…
- The alarm clock goes off loudly right by my head, and although it woke me up, I couldn’t help but still feel tired. I ended up sleeping a lot later than I thought I would. With Mor on my mind, my body wouldn’t cooperate and rest, but instead the adrenaline running through me kept me alert and awake.
- I continued to lay in bed in an attempt to get some more sleep, but the anticipation of meeting with Mor made me toss and turn.
- “Screw it!” I yell out loud, jumping out of bed suddenly.
- I sluggishly go through the motions of showering, eating, and brushing my teeth. Finishing early, I start by doing the unexpected. I straighten out my bed sheets, and start organizing the various items in my room. I guess my nerves are getting the better of me.
- Eventually, I pack up my things and head out the door. I’m somewhat nervous, but I get moving. It’s just a study session. No need to overthink things, right?
- I make my way up the stairs leading to the entrance of the library. I pull out my phone to send Mor a text telling her that I was here, but ended up finding a new one waiting for me:
- Mor (8:25 AM): Good morning, Anon~!
- I smile and begin to text back, but I feel a sudden hand on my shoulder. I look over to see Mor’s warm expression.
- “Hi Anon,” she says pulling me in for a hug.
- “Oh, hi Mor,” I reply, “were you waiting long?”
- She pulled away and shook her head.
- “Ready to head in?”
- She grabs her backpack from a nearby seat. It was then when I noticed that she was wearing a grey turtleneck sweater with jeans. Her hair was neatly in a bun, which made her facial features more apparent. Honestly, I thought it was kind of cute; however, she catches me staring.
- “So, this is what you’re into, Anon~?” she says nudging me with her elbow.
- “N-no, it’s not like that!”
- “Hmm…? This isn’t the first time this has happened either. You wouldn’t happen to have a crush on me, would you~?” she asks in a teasing tone.
- The more I try to defend myself, the more flustered I’m gonna get.
- “ANYWAYS, lets head inside! I want to get this homework over with,” I say opening the doors to the library.
- “Aw, you’re no fun!” she pouts but follows me inside.
- The library was very spacious, probably due to that larger type of mamono that come to the school. There were quite a few students in here on the computers as well as in their own booths. Some would turn to look at us and whisper amongst themselves.
- “An orc? In the library?”
- “Are those two…? Wow, that sucks! Poor guy!”
- I look over at Mor and she appears unfazed by the comments. I wonder if she got used to it. Even so, the comments were pretty harsh. It makes me wonder how long Mor had to face this type of treatment.
- Without warning, Mor grabs hold of my hand and begins to direct me towards a round table near a corner of the library. There weren’t many students in this area, so we won’t have to worry about any comments distracting us. I’m still kind of concerned about it though.
- “Hey Mor… Are you oka-”
- “By the way Anon, I already finished the homework last night,” she interjects with a giggle.
- Huh?
- “Wait, are you serious?”
- She attempts to hold in her laughter, but it started to trickle out like a flooded dam.
- “T-then what were those texts for?” I say pulling out my phone and showing her the messages she sent me yesterday.
- “Oh~? That was bait, and you took it easily ha ha. I figured that you would procrastinate to do it, so I decided that I’ll help you out today,” she continues to laugh while wiping away the tears that were forming in her eyes.
- I facepalm myself in embarrassment.
- “O-oh, thanks I guess-”
- “But under one condition~!” she interrupts with her index finger pointing at me.
- Uh oh, I don’t like where this is going.
- “W-what condition?” I ask as I feel my legs begin to shake in anticipation, which was noticed by Mor who had a smug smile on her face.
- She scoots her chair closer to mine and approaches my ear.
- “I’ll tell you later~” she whispers in a slow, hot breath that sends a wave of goosebumps across my skin.
- It’s been about 2 hours or so, and we finally got to the last problem.
- “So, for that one, you have use ln to get rid of the exponent,” Mor explains pointing out my error.
- “Oh, I see. It’s still kind of weird, but I think I get it now.”
- I finish the rest of the problem as Mor watches me quietly. Finally reaching the solution of ‘x = 4’, I turn to Mor to see if I solved the problem the right way. She smiles at me and lifts her fist towards me.
- “Heh, thanks a lot, Mor. I owe you one,” I stretch back and fist bump her in return.
- I’m surprised. If it wasn’t for her, I’d be scratching my head and putting the homework off until the day that it’s due.
- “Ha, you sure do, Anon! Don’t think I forgot~!” she looks at me devilishly and grabs my shoulder.
- Uh oh, I was so focused on the problems that it completely left my mind.
- “N-no, I didn’t forget,” I say choking on my words, “so… w-what do you want?”
- “Hmm~” she says looking away from me teasingly.
- “C-come on! Hurry up and decide,” I spat nervously.
- “Okay! I’ll spend the rest of the day with you as payment~”
- It feels as though huge weight was lifted off my chest.
- “Oh, that’s it? That’s not too bad-”
- “Yeah, I really want to see what your house looks like, Anon,” she interrupts cheerfully.
- “…Uh, I don’t think-”
- She looks around to see if any students were around, but once she confirmed that it was quiet, she grabbed me by the front of my shirt and got up close to my face.
- “Anon, what part of ‘spend the rest of the day with you’ did you not understand, huh? You even said it yourself. You owe me one, right?” she whispers in a sweet yet threatening tone.
- Oh man. She can get pretty scary too. It’s just one day, so it shouldn’t be too bad, right?
- “F-fine. If you insist. Just for today!”
- She grabs my hands and her expression softens instantly.
- “Yay~! Let’s go, Anon. I’ll just grab a few things from my room, and we can go wherever you want after that.”
- I follow her out of the library and trek towards the dorms. The buildings were slightly old looking on the exterior; nevertheless, the buildings were massive. That seems to be the theme around this campus probably due to all the mamono that are enrolled.
- She swipes her ID to open the door to the building. There was an elevator to the left, but she continues to the staircase in front of us. We stopped on the second floor and made our way down a hall. She stops at a door with 2 names attached to them: Mor and Lyra. She enters the room, and I decide to wait outside, but it she grabs my arm and pulls me in against my will.
- “Anon, no need to be shy. Come on in!”
- Entering the room, I notice spacious it is for a 2-person room. It had its own kitchen and living area as well as 2 separate bathrooms for each person. I also notice a familiar elf, who was in the main area on her laptop. She looks at me, but turns her head quickly as if to completely ignore my presence.
- “Wait here, Anon. I’m just gonna grab a couple of things then we can go,” Mor says unlocking the door to her room.
- I stand in the room awkwardly to find my eyes back on the elf again. I end up catching her glance again, but she frowns at me and shakes her head.
- “You’re Anon, right?” she asks directly.
- “Yeah, w-wait, how do you know my name?”
- She gets up from off her couch then puts a hand on her hip with her other pointing me in the face. Her eyes were a captivating emerald green that shimmered yet appeared as though they saw right through me. Her blonde hair was flowing and well kept, and her skin looked soft and beautiful. If I didn’t know any better, I’d fall in love right on the spot.
- “Mor, just won’t shut up about you. It’s kind of annoying honestly! What’s your deal anyways? Why have you been hanging around Mor so much lately?”
- “I’m just… a friend, I think,” I say scratching my head, unsure of any other answers I could come up with.
- “Just a friend…? That’s it?”
- Unimpressed by my answer, she stares me down with an intense gaze.
- “What do you mean?”
- She pauses and looks dumbfoundedly at me.
- “Oh? I guess she is an orc after all. I got a little ahead of myself, sorry.”
- “Wait… What? No, it’s not like that! Well, I don’t know really.”
- Is it really that weird? People say weird things and sure, she can be pushy at times, but Mor doesn’t seem to be that bad of a girl. Even then, how do I really feel about Mor?
- Suddenly, I notice Lyra’s ear twitch as she abandons the interrogation to sit back on the couch. The sound of a door shutting echoes down the hallway as Mor equips herself with a backpack that she strings over her shoulders.
- “Okay, Anon! I’m ready to go.”
- Mor comes up beside me and tugs on my arm.
- “Come on, let’s go,” she whispers in my ear.
- She began to really drag me at this point as if she was avoiding her roommate completely. As we left the room, I look back at her to see her waving at me and mouthing something at me.
- “G…o…o…d…L…u…c…k?”
- Mor closes the door behind us and nudges me in the side, not giving me any chance to think.
- “So Anon, where do you want to go? Don’t tell me that you were going to go straight home after studying with me?”
- “Uh, right? To be honest, I was just gonna go home, but now that you want to tag along, we can go somewhere else if you wan-”
- “No buts, Anon! You know what they say about butts. They stink! Now come on, I’ll follow right beside you,” she says pushing me down the hallway impatiently.
- “Okay, okay! I get it. Follow me then. I’ll lead the way to my house,” I comply to get her to stop the shoving.
- She squeals quietly and rushes to my side as we exit the dorm.
