  1. (06:52:34) cc_jake: howdy
  2. (06:52:35) Syd: Hey cc_jake!
  3. (06:52:39) BabblingFishes: Hey Jake!
  4. (06:53:08) Cheeseness: Hey cc_jake!
  5. (06:53:28) BabblingFishes: How are you on this fabulous day?
  6. (06:53:38) cc_jake: good good :) how about yourself
  7. (06:53:50) BabblingFishes: Very excited!
  8. (06:54:01) BabblingFishes: I love this game a tad too much
  9. (06:54:18) Cheeseness: :D
  10. (06:54:35) Cheeseness: Oh, cc_jake, before I get stuck streaming stuff and won't be able to talk, are you guys considering upgrading to Unity 4.5?
  11. (06:54:37) cc_jake: ha thanks :)
  12. (06:55:10) cc_jake: we're testing that right now, actually -- why do you ask?
  13. (06:55:25) Cheeseness: I spoke with one of Unity's Linux developers, who said that the freezing issue should be resolved with the changes in 4.5
  14. (06:55:34) BabblingFishes: Oh sweet
  15. (06:56:01) Fhqwhgod [54875348@hide-B64552F4.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  16. (06:56:06) cc_jake: oh, that's good to hear! there are a few bug fixes in there related to screen resolution issues that we're hopeful about. looks good so far
  17. (06:56:13) flesk [eivind@hide-1E215ADA.getinternet.no] entered the room.
  18. (06:56:20) flesk: Hi.
  19. (06:56:23) Syd: Hey Fhqwhgod and flesk
  20. (06:56:26) BabblingFishes: Hey!
  21. (06:56:31) Fhqwhgod: Ohai!
  22. (06:56:53) Cheeseness: cc_jake: Fingers crossed! :D
  23. (06:59:07) Sven_Q45 [508fd352@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  24. (06:59:09) BabblingFishes: Oh, Jake! Without spoiling anything for the other watchers, I gotta say -- as someone who has been having a lot of identity issues as of late, that bit with Junebug made me super happy.
  25. (06:59:11) Cheeseness: Hey Sven_Q45
  26. (06:59:15) Sven_Q45: hi
  27. (06:59:19) BabblingFishes: So thank you a lot
  28. (06:59:21) BabblingFishes: Hi Sven!
  29. (06:59:21) Cheeseness: :)
  30. (06:59:29) cc_jake: BabblingFishes: thx, that's great to hear :)
  31. (07:00:50) Cheeseness: cc_jake: Something that came up during the first session - is the museum goers talking about whether or not things should be appreciated in an unfinished state perhaps commentary on players' attitudes towards episodic/in-development games?
  32. (07:01:37) Intern_Lori [48aed9c2@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  33. (07:02:19) cc_jake: ha, yeah that read makes sense :) those characters are kind of like the choir in a play -- they kind of suggest to the audience how to feel, sometimes :)
  34. (07:02:36) Cheeseness: :)
  35. (07:02:42) BabblingFishes: Is there a way to change my name in here? The random space due to the length is wigging me out
  36. (07:02:55) Cheeseness: I'm just finalising getting things set up here. Should be going live in a tick
  37. Babar BabblingFishes
  38. (07:03:00) Intern_Lori: Hello!
  39. (07:03:04) Cheeseness: Hi Intern_Lori
  40. (07:03:07) BabblingFishes: Sweet, Cheeseness
  41. (07:03:11) BabblingFishes: Hi lori!
  42. (07:03:23) Syd: ./nick yournewname, I believe. Without the . of course.
  43. (07:03:28) Cheeseness: BabblingFishes: I don't see a space in your name, but "/nick new_name" should do it
  44. (07:03:32) BabblingFishes is now known as BabbleFish
  45. (07:03:37) BabbleFish: There we go
  46. (07:03:44) BabbleFish: Thanks muchly
  47. (07:04:29) GameClubFan_783413 [62d7e26d@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  48. (07:04:36) Cheeseness: Alrighty, we should see some stream activity in a sec
  49. (07:04:36) GameClubFan_783413 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  50. (07:04:41) Cheeseness: Let me know when you can see something ^_^
  51. (07:04:48) cc_tamas [62d7e26d@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  52. (07:04:49) BabbleFish: Oop, loading!
  53. cc_jake cc_tamas
  54. (07:04:55) Cheeseness: Hey cc_tamas!
  55. (07:04:58) BabbleFish: Hey Tamas! ^^
  56. (07:05:04) Syd: It's live
  57. (07:05:05) BabbleFish: I seeeee a logo!
  58. (07:05:11) cc_tamas: hi!
  59. (07:05:15) cc_jake: heya :)
  60. (07:05:39) silverspork [Adium@hide-16C592EE.hsd1.pa.comcast.net] entered the room.
  61. (07:05:43) Cheeseness: Nope I pronounced your name correctly there, cc_tamas
  62. (07:05:53) silverspork: yo
  63. (07:05:58) Cheeseness: Hi silverspork
  64. (07:06:02) Cheeseness: hope^
  65. (07:06:02) Syd: Hey silverspork
  66. (07:06:07) BabbleFish: Heyo
  67. (07:06:09) Intern_Lori: Gasp. Didn't know that celebrities would be here!
  68. (07:06:15) Cheeseness: Surprise!
  69. (07:06:30) Cheeseness: So, we've just arrived down in the Zero. I'm going to do some exploring whilst you guys chat
  70. (07:06:34) BabbleFish: Only the most fabulous ones
  71. (07:06:39) BabbleFish: Sweet
  72. (07:07:00) Cheeseness: Actually, maybe we'll go to the Hall of the Mountain King first
  73. (07:07:08) BabbleFish: Ah man those horses. The stillness of some of them freaks me out and I -love- it.
  74. (07:07:14) serena: not much to explore in this part of the zero, no?
  75. (07:07:23) BabbleFish: Guess not
  76. (07:07:38) Permafry_42 [46469094@hide-BF4D4B18.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  77. (07:07:43) Permafry_42: Hey all!
  78. (07:07:57) silverspork: yo
  79. (07:07:58) BabbleFish: Hey! :D
  80. (07:08:14) BabbleFish: You look like a hoopy frood, Permafry_42
  81. (07:08:19) Babloyi [Bab@C9AB4E9C.C6CAD20F.83382450.IP] entered the room.
  82. (07:08:30) Babar left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 181 seconds).
  83. (07:08:35) Cheeseness: For anybody who hadn't spotted, jake and tamas shared some WIP shots of the upcoming scene with us for our first session last year http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/10100/
  84. (07:08:39) Cheeseness: (scroll down
  85. (07:08:58) Cheeseness: It's really interesting to see the way the style and layout has evolved
  86. (07:09:12) serena: yeah
  87. (07:09:16) BabbleFish: The minimalism now is gorgeous.
  88. (07:09:28) Intern_Lori: Everything is gorgeous!
  89. (07:09:32) Cheeseness: :D
  90. (07:09:37) BabbleFish: Dat fire
  91. cc_jake cc_tamas
  92. (07:09:54) Permafry_42: yeah whenever i see the game i always am taken aback by the art direction
  93. (07:10:33) Cheeseness: I really enjoy the characterisation in this game
  94. (07:11:01) Cheeseness: Even the "bit parts" feel like they're compelling individuals
  95. (07:11:05) BabbleFish: I have gone on days about characterisation. Intern_Lori over there knows.
  96. (07:11:13) Cheeseness: :)
  97. (07:11:23) Babloyi left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 182 seconds).
  98. (07:11:32) Intern_Lori: It's pretty great to hear your speculations, though.
  99. (07:11:34) Cheeseness: Feel free to throw questions at cc_jake and cc_tamas, people
  100. (07:11:48) serena: Ezra is a pretty great character
  101. (07:11:59) Cheeseness: I think Julian and Junebug are my favourites ^_^
  102. (07:12:06) BabbleFish: God, just... the dynamics between Junebug and Johnny, the different routes you can throw Conway's past in, just for starters.
  103. (07:13:05) Intern_Lori: Ah, there's a storm outside. One moment!
  104. (07:13:26) BabbleFish: Oh! I have a question for you two -- the prototype of Junebug looked pretty robotic, like a passerby would probably notice. Are she and Johnny still that mechanical-looking, or have they detailed themselves more convincingly?
  105. (07:13:50) Cheeseness: I really appreciate the way that you determine the characters' outlooks. If you decide that Conway should be uncomfortable with his leg, then the game's happy to oblige. If you feel like he'd be accepting, then that's how he is.
  106. (07:14:28) Babar [Bab@7CAFFA49.19E27EB4.83382450.IP] entered the room.
  107. (07:14:34) cc_jake: BabbleFish: in developing Junebug we kind of moved in a more subtle direction in both the way she looks & her characterization, I'd say
  108. (07:14:48) BabbleFish: Ooh, okay
  109. (07:14:54) cc_jake: she's also like less of a cartoon of a country singer than we'd originally imagined her
  110. (07:15:06) cc_jake: in the earlier design you can see more loretta lynn & june carter-cash, for example
  111. (07:15:35) BabbleFish: Cheeseness: the way you're allowed to have him just repeat "it's better than being in a ditch" every time he's asked about his job kind of cracks me up as well.
  112. (07:15:41) Sven_Q45: so back again.
  113. (07:15:42) Cheeseness: heh
  114. (07:15:45) Cheeseness: wb Sven_Q45
  115. (07:15:51) BabbleFish: Wb!
  116. (07:16:04) Sven_Q45: thx
  117. (07:16:36) silverspork: I think pajama sam is a little closer to my depth than this one
  118. (07:16:40) Cheeseness: :D
  119. (07:16:42) Permafry_42: out of curiosity was their a particular inspiration for xandu and the idea of the old computer? or was is just from a general love of computers?
  120. (07:17:03) Cheeseness: The eyes closed parts are great ^_^
  121. (07:17:14) serena: yeah
  122. (07:17:17) cc_jake: ya definitely -- the xanadu sequence draws pretty heavily on Colossal Cave Adventure - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossal_Cave_Adventure
  123. (07:17:39) BabbleFish: Chesseness: I just kept remembering Weaver's advice -- "keep your eyes open, even in the dark"
  124. (07:17:42) cc_jake: the computer itself is based on slightly older tech
  125. (07:17:57) Syd: Xanadu's display kind of made me think of those very early video games that were played on oscilloscopes.
  126. (07:18:05) Intern_Lori: I think you may find it amusing that I renamed my computer Xanadu after seeing Babblefish play through act III.
  127. (07:18:11) Cheeseness: Xanadu suggests that Weaver worked down here with Donald
  128. (07:18:21) BabbleFish: Yep
  129. (07:18:37) Cheeseness: I think perhaps she's the mathematician mentioned at Hard Times as well
  130. (07:18:38) BabbleFish: And Rick too, right?
  131. (07:18:40) cc_jake: Syd: yeah pretty much, it's a PDP-1 which is what Space Wars was made on
  132. (07:18:53) BabbleFish: I think she definitely is, Cheeseness
  133. (07:18:57) Cheeseness: :)
  134. (07:18:58) Babar left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 180 seconds).
  135. (07:19:01) serena: the formula girl
  136. (07:19:05) Cheeseness: Yup
  137. (07:19:14) Sven_Q45: Serena. Hi.
  138. (07:19:19) serena: hi
  139. (07:19:24) cc_jake: Intern_Lori: ha nice!
  140. (07:19:30) Cheeseness: I can't see "Roberta" without thinking of "Roberta Williams"
  141. (07:19:42) Babar [Bab@2028B8F9.1287D172.83382450.IP] entered the room.
  142. (07:19:46) BabbleFish: Intern_Lori: Just don't get mold on it
  143. (07:19:51) Cheeseness: Or do
  144. (07:19:59) BabbleFish: ...Or do
  145. (07:20:08) Intern_Lori: Nah, I'm careful with this computer. Maybe later in it's life?
  146. (07:20:25) BabbleFish: Stick it in a cave, cover it in whiskey
  147. (07:20:41) BabbleFish: Recipe for semisentient, semiinsane computer
  148. (07:20:49) Permafry_42: i like the rotating perspective change effect
  149. (07:21:17) Cheeseness: Gosh, the screen effect!
  150. (07:21:22) Intern_Lori: That would be easy enough, I suppose! Lots of caves and things. Nothing as impressive as the hall of the mountain king, though.
  151. (07:21:23) BabbleFish: The very first time they rotated the camera in the mines, my eyes just went huge
  152. (07:21:32) BabbleFish: I'd thought it had been 2D up until then
  153. (07:21:42) Cheeseness: cc_jake, cc_tamas: With there being a lot of side content and so many subtly different paths through the narrative, do you find yourself surprised by what players miss and what they find?
  154. (07:22:21) cc_jake: we don't really have any data on that, actually!
  155. (07:23:08) Cheeseness: I recently participated in a discussion where most people had missed a lot of the Conway-Lysette backstory
  156. (07:23:10) cc_jake: except what we hear, i guess -- sometimes pleasantly surprised people do as much digging as they do :)
  157. (07:23:15) BabbleFish: cc_jake: Fun fact; my first playthrough of Act I and Act II of this game, I didn't even get a hint of Conway having a past as an alcoholic.
  158. (07:23:33) Cheeseness: It's always seemed interesting that people come away with such varying experiences
  159. (07:24:22) Cheeseness: I think I've seen you two talk about wanting to make something that people reflect differently on depending on their own perspectives. You've done a fantastic job of that
  160. (07:24:28) BabbleFish: Well the way it's set up, we see what we want to, don't we?
  161. (07:24:33) Cheeseness: Right
  162. (07:24:41) BabbleFish: Oop, late post. That's what you just said.
  163. (07:24:47) Cheeseness: It's cool ^_^
  164. (07:25:02) silverspork: I was wondering that, this game just has a massive amount of writing to cover all the branches?
  165. (07:25:18) Permafry_42: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRpzxKsSEZg
  166. (07:25:31) Cheeseness: Not all of the branches are different - I think that's part of what's really intreguing
  167. (07:25:42) Cheeseness: It's very open to interpretation though
  168. (07:25:45) BabbleFish: Well, a lot of it is more linear than it looks, but yeah, it's still a massive amount of writing
  169. (07:25:50) Cheeseness: Oh, for sure
  170. (07:25:55) cc_jake: yeah that's a good summary :)
  171. (07:26:11) Intern_Lori: Like leaves on a tree?
  172. (07:26:30) Intern_Lori: Er, that didn't make very much sense. Sorry.
  173. (07:26:39) cc_jake: ha idk :)
  174. (07:26:41) BabbleFish: Made sense to me!
  175. (07:26:41) Cheeseness: More like a highway with small towns you can detour onto ^_^
  176. (07:27:02) BabbleFish: Or a road with two sides, and you'll only see what you look at.
  177. (07:27:34) Cheeseness: So, who's played/experienced The Entertainment?
  178. (07:27:41) BabbleFish: *raises hand*
  179. (07:27:46) Cheeseness: (that's the standalone interlude between Acts II and III)
  180. (07:27:48) serena: me too
  181. (07:27:48) Intern_Lori: I have!
  182. (07:27:57) Cheeseness: Awesome, awesome :D
  183. (07:28:51) Cheeseness: I had the opportunity to play it on the Oculus Rift - it is the most exciting HMD experience I've had so far in that it represents a different kind of interaction to what we're normally used to
  184. (07:29:38) Cheeseness: It really carries a sense of being a participant without requiring any input beyond the HMD itself
  185. (07:29:40) Permafry_42: looks interesting; i'll make sure to play it soon when i'm not busy with mario kart, child of light and watch dogs among others. Also one of my life goals is to play occulus while also using the omni and a motion controller
  186. (07:29:42) BabbleFish: Man, lucky
  187. (07:30:25) serena: the entertainment really builds the world krz lives in
  188. (07:30:28) Cheeseness: The HT-8191-T, is that normal, cc_jake? I thought it was a bug earlier, but now I'm not so sure
  189. (07:30:52) Permafry_42: for some reason i really love seeing fog in video games when its used corectly. it always makes the world feel more creepy in a good way
  190. (07:30:55) Cheeseness: The names here are Kickstarter backers
  191. (07:30:59) cc_jake: ya that's like a serial number for what's buried there
  192. (07:31:43) serena: … booze
  193. (07:31:53) Cheeseness: Yup
  194. (07:32:10) BabbleFish: Oh hey, other question, cc_jake, since Intern_Lori and I were discussing it the other day -- is there a reason we see more of Junebug but learn more about Johnny?
  195. (07:32:11) serena: funny and creepy
  196. (07:32:24) Cheeseness: Johnny feels like Junebug's Blue
  197. (07:32:35) BabbleFish: He does. Stays back with the dog, too.
  198. (07:32:42) Cheeseness: Always present, but not quite as prominent
  199. (07:32:51) Cheeseness: Well, mostly present ^_^
  200. (07:32:59) BabbleFish: But we do know more about Conway than Blue. Johnny and Junebug it's kind of the opposite.
  201. (07:33:11) Cheeseness: You reckon?
  202. (07:33:30) cc_jake: huh interesting -- i guess he's a bit chattier in their relationship
  203. (07:33:48) cc_jake: as it's seen so far
  204. (07:34:04) Cheeseness: I've seen some suggest that only Junebug can hear him, but I'm not so sure
  205. (07:34:31) cc_jake: ha
  206. (07:35:25) Cheeseness: I love that we've skipped some narrative here
  207. (07:35:39) Cheeseness: Suddenly Shannon and Conway's demeanor is different
  208. (07:35:45) Cheeseness: And we're left to wonder why (for not)
  209. (07:35:49) Cheeseness: for now^
  210. (07:37:32) BabbleFish: I bet other people can hear Johnny; he does backup singing in Too Late to Love You.
  211. (07:37:36) Cheeseness: Yeah
  212. (07:37:45) Cheeseness: Someone (I think Ezra) responds to him at one point as well
  213. (07:39:24) Cheeseness: The visuals for Xanadu are great
  214. (07:40:11) BabbleFish: I just picture those two in a bar way late at night, Johnny getting cornered by a bunch of tipsy girls and Junebug just: "Hey. Hey you see this kid? Don't touch him he's mine."
  215. (07:40:20) BabbleFish: Harry off by the bar rolling his eyes.
  216. (07:40:36) BabbleFish: Polishing a glass.
  217. (07:40:54) Fhqwhgod left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  218. (07:41:28) BabbleFish: Did I scare the person away?
  219. (07:41:32) cc_jake: haha
  220. (07:41:46) Cheeseness: cc_jake, cc_tamas: I haven't listened to the sountrack updates yet. The version of Too Late To Love You that's in there, does that use all the lyrics, or just some of what's in the game?
  221. (07:41:47) cc_jake: fear of fanfic ;)
  222. (07:41:50) Cheeseness: heh
  223. (07:41:58) Cheeseness: Is there much KR0 fanfic that you've come across?
  224. (07:42:21) cc_tamas: Cheeseness: just one trajectory through it
  225. (07:42:37) BabbleFish: I came across a text adventure fic once
  226. (07:42:52) BabbleFish: Didn't play too far into it, though, because I didn't have time, and then I lost it ><
  227. (07:43:09) cc_jake: ya there was a twine one somewhere! i forget, too, where that was
  228. (07:43:14) BabbleFish: I've been meaning to write one myself though. I just need to gather up the concentration.
  229. (07:43:14) Cheeseness: Oh neat
  230. (07:43:15) cc_tamas: Cheeseness: we've come across lulachaimberlain.tumblr.com
  231. (07:43:46) cc_tamas: (oops spelling)
  232. (07:43:52) BabbleFish: ...That may or may not be mine
  233. (07:43:55) cc_tamas: http://lulachamberlain.tumblr.com/
  234. (07:43:55) Cheeseness: :D
  235. (07:43:56) BabbleFish: *hides under a rock*
  236. (07:44:24) cc_jake: !
  237. (07:44:29) Cheeseness: Yay, we died with a score of zero
  238. (07:44:37) BabbleFish: Whoohoo!
  239. (07:44:49) Intern_Lori: Shannon's reaction is my favorite part of that scenario.
  240. (07:45:01) Permafry_42: any significance to the number 8192?
  241. (07:45:13) Cheeseness: 1982 is my birth year. It's obviously that
  242. (07:45:21) Cheeseness: (People see what they want to see)
  243. (07:45:22) BabbleFish: But yeah, I have that and http://theweirdvector.tumblr.com/ Haven't gotten too far with either of them.
  244. (07:45:47) Cheeseness: :)
  245. (07:45:55) Intern_Lori: They're well made blogs, though, Feesh! Don't throw yourself under the bus there.
  246. (07:45:55) Flacote [be117cdb@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  247. Flacote flesk
  248. (07:46:06) Cheeseness: Hi Flacote
  249. (07:46:07) cc_tamas: :)
  250. Flacote flesk
  251. (07:46:14) Flacote: Hi
  252. (07:46:14) BabbleFish: Still embarrassed. xD
  253. (07:46:20) Cheeseness: Hey flesk, are you in here?
  254. (07:46:27) Cheeseness: Aww, don't be, BabbleFish
  255. (07:46:28) BabbleFish: Hi Flacote!
  256. (07:46:49) BabbleFish: Oh, I shall be.
  257. (07:47:04) BabbleFish: Ain't gonna stop me though.
  258. (07:47:13) BabbleFish: (Apologies to Jake and Tamas)
  259. (07:47:21) cc_jake: oh didn't know that one!
  260. (07:47:23) Babar left the room (quit: Killed (NickServ (GHOST command used by Babloyi!Bab@B55C3D2B.F69CF2F4.83382450.IP))).
  261. (07:47:23) cc_jake: no it's rad :)
  262. (07:47:24) Babar [Bab@B55C3D2B.F69CF2F4.83382450.IP] entered the room.
  263. (07:47:31) BabbleFish: Ha, thank you
  264. (07:47:39) Cheeseness: I really want to find time to do some fan art
  265. (07:47:58) Intern_Lori: Babblefish is kind of great at everything.
  266. (07:48:04) Cheeseness: (I was planning to for when we did Act I for Game Club, but time is never a cooperative thing)
  267. (07:48:22) cc_tamas: yep :)
  268. (07:48:29) BabbleFish: Intern_Lori: am not, shush you
  269. (07:48:34) Babar left the room (quit: Quit: MY FACE IS NOT YOUR FACE).
  270. (07:48:44) BabbleFish: ...What
  271. (07:48:47) Intern_Lori: Pssssh. You are too
  272. (07:49:24) Cheeseness: I was hoping that there'd be another Superlevel article by the time we did this. Those are great
  273. (07:49:43) BabbleFish: Oooh, I haven't seen those. Link me?
  274. (07:49:54) Cheeseness: http://superlevel.de/spiele/indie-spiele/kentucky-fried-zero-english-edition/
  275. (07:50:08) BabbleFish: Oh! Those. Scratch that; I have seen those
  276. (07:50:11) Cheeseness: http://superlevel.de/spiele/indie-spiele/kentucky-fried-zero-act-2-english-edition/
  277. (07:50:15) BabbleFish: Yeah, those are gorgeous.
  278. (07:50:21) Cheeseness: Yeah
  279. (07:50:39) Cheeseness: We had the author of those pop in when we did Act II I think
  280. (07:50:50) BabbleFish: Oh cool
  281. (07:51:02) BabbleFish: Well-read guy?
  282. (07:51:02) flesk: Yeah, I'm still here, Cheeseness.
  283. (07:51:18) Cheeseness: BabbleFish: Seems so!
  284. (07:51:18) flesk: Just had to go get some coffee.
  285. (07:51:23) Cheeseness: No probs :)
  286. (07:51:45) Cheeseness: How many people persisted with the simulation as opposed to "waiting"
  287. (07:52:06) BabbleFish: I kept going for some time I think
  288. (07:52:14) Cheeseness: I pushed through the other end on my first playthrough
  289. (07:52:16) BabbleFish: And then went back and just waited indefinitely
  290. (07:52:22) BabbleFish: Oh man
  291. (07:52:25) BabbleFish: How long did that take?
  292. (07:52:33) Cheeseness: I'm not sure. 15 minutes maybe?
  293. (07:53:09) BabbleFish: I feel like it took me longer and I still wasn't really getting anywhere, but then I have the attention span of a fish, so...
  294. (07:53:33) flesk: I also kept going for some time.
  295. (07:53:45) Cheeseness: cc_jake, cc_tamas: Is the simulation a set number of turns, or do you need to achieve certain levels of realism and romanticism before it ends?
  296. (07:53:54) flesk: Not until the end though.
  297. (07:54:26) cc_jake: Cheeseness: it's a set number of turns, but there are events that happen along the way that depend on those simulation stats
  298. (07:54:35) Cheeseness: Oh, interesting
  299. (07:54:40) Cheeseness: So there's probably stuff I haven't seen
  300. (07:54:49) BabbleFish: Ooh, I'll have to mess with it some more then
  301. (07:55:38) serena: mmmm more save files
  302. (07:55:59) BabbleFish: Oh! cc_jake, cc_tamas, that one sound on the overworld radio, I wanna say 1100 hertz? What was that? It sounded like pennies down a tube or something.
  303. (07:56:19) The-Mad-Pirate: I totally forgot about DFA Game Club today
  304. (07:56:26) Cheeseness: Surprise!
  305. (07:56:38) BabbleFish: Well, now you're here! :D
  306. (07:56:43) BabbleFish: Happy un-birthday
  307. (07:56:51) The-Mad-Pirate: but man , I just don't know what to do with my BA OUYA Code ...
  308. (07:57:00) cc_jake: BabbleFish: oh not sure, sorry! ben made some new sound compositions for those stations
  309. (07:57:26) The-Mad-Pirate: I much did I missed ?
  310. (07:57:38) Cheeseness: cc_tamas, cc_jake: Act III has taken the longest to come together, is that right? It seems like most people have been pretty understanding (I certainly appreciate the amount of work that seems to have gone into it). Do you feel like Acts IV and V will have as long development times?
  311. (07:57:54) BabbleFish: cc_jake: Ooh, might have to email Ben about it then. It was really cool.
  312. (07:58:26) The-Mad-Pirate: cc_jake: cc_tamas Good Afternoon good Sirs !
  313. (07:59:52) cc_tamas: The-Mad-Pirate: hi!
  314. (08:00:06) cc_jake: Cheeseness: still taking shape of course, but we've understood act 3 to be the largest in scope for a while. just in terms of what all needed to happen there
  315. (08:00:27) Cheeseness: So like I think transcribing an debugging effect realism, whilst speculation drives up romance?
  316. (08:00:53) Cheeseness: The music here is great :D
  317. (08:01:25) BabbleFish: The music everywhere is great, gosh darnit.
  318. (08:01:37) Cheeseness: Muting it slightly during the interactive parts is a really nice touch
  319. (08:01:37) Permafry_42: the sounds alone are fantastic
  320. (08:01:40) Cheeseness: Ha, it's so true
  321. (08:01:47) BabbleFish: Darn Ben and his mastery of sound.
  322. (08:02:20) The-Mad-Pirate: cc_jake: cc_tamas How much Revenue of both Act I and Act II contributed to actually found Act III ?
  323. (08:02:25) Cheeseness: Do different assistance have different proficiencies at stuff?
  324. (08:04:19) cc_jake: The-Mad-Pirate: it's not so cut and dry, really -- we spent a lot of time working on the game while having day-jobs, but at the moment we don't need them
  325. (08:04:21) BabbleFish: Did the sound just bug out for anyone else?
  326. (08:04:25) Cheeseness: I sort of want a "Now is the time to continue your work" plaque
  327. (08:04:36) cc_jake: haha
  328. (08:04:44) BabbleFish: I could make you a poster, Cheeseness xD
  329. (08:04:53) Cheeseness: heh
  330. (08:05:37) BabbleFish: Picture of Donald with some pose of political inspiration on Xanadu's screen
  331. (08:05:48) BabbleFish: "NOW IS THE TIME TO CONTINUE YOUR WORK!"
  332. (08:05:52) disharmonic left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 180 seconds).
  333. (08:05:52) The-Mad-Pirate: cc_jake , cc_tamas Nice to know you guys are fullfilling a dream then !
  334. (08:06:42) Cheeseness: I never noticed how different Junebug's hair is here
  335. (08:06:44) The-Mad-Pirate: Makes me think on Monkey Island 2 Post-Credits "Motivational" messages
  336. (08:06:57) Cheeseness: I got a haircut when I finished Monkey Island 2
  337. (08:07:02) BabbleFish: cc_jake cc_tamas: You guys really should sell posters or something though, if you get time.
  338. (08:07:26) BabbleFish: Cheeseness: Her whole outfit is different. I don't know how she does it.
  339. (08:07:36) Cheeseness: Magic
  340. (08:07:40) Cheeseness: And science
  341. (08:07:43) BabbleFish: ...Change clothes on the go
  342. (08:07:49) BabbleFish: "Here Johnny hold this"
  343. (08:07:55) Intern_Lori: [A bad rendition of the transformers theme in the distance]
  344. (08:08:01) BabbleFish: Oh god
  345. (08:08:14) Intern_Lori: Sorry. Couldn't help it
  346. (08:08:19) Cheeseness: BabbleFish: Did you catch Junebug's comments about porcelain dolls?
  347. (08:08:24) BabbleFish: No it's good I'm just laughing really hard.
  348. (08:08:28) BabbleFish: No, I didn't?
  349. (08:08:35) BabbleFish: When was that?
  350. (08:08:39) Cheeseness: At the drive-in
  351. (08:09:04) BabbleFish: Ah, I must have picked some different routes. Do tell?
  352. (08:09:15) Cheeseness: If you talk about what Conway's carrying, she asks if it's porcelain dolls
  353. (08:09:34) BabbleFish: Interesting.
  354. (08:09:34) Cheeseness: And then says she likes looking at them because their roles are painted on
  355. (08:09:44) BabbleFish: Aw.
  356. (08:09:48) Cheeseness: Their identity is defined by what's on the outside
  357. (08:10:08) Cheeseness: Or perhaps what's painted on the outside reflects what's within
  358. (08:10:34) BabbleFish: I know how that feels. ><
  359. (08:11:02) BabbleFish: Not having an identity is really, really hard.
  360. (08:11:30) frogg: I paint glitter on my outside.
  361. (08:11:35) BabbleFish: Be it purpose or gender or place.
  362. (08:11:36) Cheeseness: Hey frogg :)
  363. (08:11:40) BabbleFish: Heheh
  364. (08:11:45) serena: yess i love the zero
  365. (08:11:54) frogg: What game y'all playing?
  366. (08:12:01) BabbleFish: Kentucky Route Zero!
  367. (08:12:05) silverspork: this game so does not compute with me but its really fascinating
  368. (08:12:06) BabbleFish: Act III. ^^
  369. (08:12:15) somaen [81f1929c@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  370. (08:12:58) BabbleFish: Man, I'm sad I missed the Spy Fox thing last week. I used to love Spy Fox.
  371. (08:13:03) BabbleFish: ...I still love Spy Fox.
  372. (08:13:11) Intern_Lori: I was about to say.
  373. (08:13:14) BabbleFish: That game was great in it's own horrendously silly way.
  374. (08:13:22) BabbleFish: *its
  375. (08:13:39) frogg: Kentucky Route Zero! Ohoh, I saw that on humble stor eI think, was wondering if I should get it
  376. (08:13:41) serena: more a mandoline than a pendolum
  377. (08:13:49) BabbleFish: You should totally get it, man.
  378. (08:13:55) BabbleFish: Worth every penny.
  379. (08:14:07) Intern_Lori: Probably more than worth it!
  380. (08:14:17) Permafry_42: i really love these black and white wireframe menus
  381. (08:14:40) RUBICN64 [Android@778054CE:DBF3806A:5B8A8EA9:IP] entered the room.

  383. (08:14:59) ***frogg watches a vid for KR0
  384. (08:15:30) Flacote left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  385. (08:15:55) Cheeseness: cc_jake, cc_tamas: Are the locations on the Zero (aside from the museum of rust, the power company offices, the hall of the mountain king, and the bureau set?
  386. (08:15:57) serena: trying to find a good way to draw a map of the zero
  387. (08:15:59) Cheeseness: I'm hopin gI can find the van again
  388. (08:16:48) cc_jake: Cheeseness: the locations don't change, if that's what you mean?
  389. (08:16:54) frogg: I was in KY a few days ago XD
  390. (08:16:55) Cheeseness: I think so
  391. (08:17:07) BabbleFish: It should be the same directions to get to the place every time.
  392. (08:17:16) BabbleFish: Turn here, turn there, pass that
  393. (08:17:51) Cheeseness: It's very ritualistic
  394. (08:18:52) cc_jake: oh it dropped you on the wrong road, ha
  395. (08:18:55) cc_jake: i will file a bug
  396. (08:19:00) Cheeseness: :D
  397. (08:19:06) BabbleFish: On that blog for Lula I had to explain the Zero to another character played by a person who had never seen the game before.
  398. (08:19:19) BabbleFish: I need to find that post again. I was pretty proud of it.
  399. (08:19:27) Cheeseness: I'm glad it's not just me then
  400. (08:19:36) Cheeseness: Yay! :D
  401. (08:20:07) Intern_Lori: cc_jake, how difficult was it to get The Zero to work correctly? Does it work by things branching, or..?
  402. (08:20:08) Cheeseness: I can not help but see a happy snake on the side of the van
  403. (08:20:09) serena: the pycho van
  404. (08:20:17) BabbleFish: Oh man, I missed this part
  405. (08:20:30) Cheeseness: This is (so far as I'm aware) the only time you play as Blue
  406. (08:21:04) serena: love the nose icon
  407. (08:21:15) BabbleFish: It's so cute ^^
  408. (08:21:52) Cheeseness: :)
  409. (08:22:08) frogg: hmm, looks interesting
  410. (08:22:38) Cheeseness: It's amazing, frogg
  411. (08:22:52) Cheeseness: We've got two developers here with us in chat
  412. (08:23:09) frogg: yeah, i recognised the names from thier site
  413. (08:23:14) BabbleFish: I had a thought about The Entertainment -- if Harry had been able to chase the patrons out, what would he have done? Just...keep telling the collector he didn't have payment until they took him instead?
  414. (08:23:21) BabbleFish: Poor guy
  415. (08:23:29) Cheeseness: :(
  416. (08:23:36) Cheeseness: Poor everyone in The Entertainment
  417. (08:23:44) Intern_Lori: I'll have to replay it soon.
  418. (08:23:45) BabbleFish: Poor everyone in this game
  419. (08:23:56) Cheeseness: Maybe...
  420. (08:24:06) BabbleFish: Intern_Lori decided we need to change Conway's name to :C-onway
  421. (08:24:12) cc_tamas: Intern_Lori: it took a bit of trial and error to get the turning cues right
  422. (08:24:29) Cheeseness: But I think maybe the people in this game are finding something positive in each other
  423. (08:24:38) Intern_Lori: Interesting!
  424. (08:24:51) e [18f02140@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  425. (08:24:54) Intern_Lori: ...To be honest, this entire conversation is very interesting.
  426. (08:24:56) e: HI i am here finally
  427. (08:24:59) Cheeseness: Hey e!
  428. (08:25:00) e: hi Cheeseness :)
  429. (08:25:07) e: an hour and a half late, but i finally made it :P
  430. (08:25:10) Cheeseness: I messaged you on Steam, but you were offline >_<
  431. (08:25:17) Cheeseness: cc_jake and cc_tamas are here
  432. (08:25:21) Cheeseness: And you just missed the van
  433. (08:25:33) BabbleFish: Cheeseness: Yeah. That's one of the things I love most, I think. Usually I'm not into tragedies because it'll be stuff like A Streetcar Name Desire, which, while it's good, just spirals down and down with no hope for anything
  434. (08:25:39) e: ahhh sorry i was with a friend. i made sure to be back before it ended though!
  435. (08:25:45) Cheeseness: It's cool!
  436. (08:25:55) BabbleFish: KRZ has these little undertones of hope and curiosity.
  437. (08:25:57) e: and i found the van in my own game—such a great scene. love the "sniffing" icon for blue :)
  438. (08:26:16) Cheeseness: I love that Blue seems universally recognised as Blue
  439. (08:26:20) frogg: cc_tamas: cc_jake are yous from KY?
  440. (08:26:29) e: heh, same Cheeseness
  441. (08:26:37) cc_tamas: BabbleFish: heh, glad it was readable :)
  442. (08:26:53) cc_jake: frogg: no but we're nearby :)
  443. (08:26:53) Cheeseness: I wonder how many people actually chose the "Blue" dialogue option
  444. (08:27:14) cc_jake: frogg: in Chicago
  445. (08:27:25) frogg: okay, the other thing tat's kind amakign me wanna buy this game it that it has bluegrass >_>
  446. (08:27:27) Cheeseness: The museum of rust and the power company addresses were found on Joseph's computer last session
  447. (08:27:43) Cheeseness: frogg: The soundtrack is amazing
  448. (08:27:45) e: as you said before Cheeseness, I've seen most people online refer to him as Blue
  449. (08:27:54) frogg: Oh dang, is this a game i should play in one sitting so I dont forget stuff?
  450. (08:28:05) e: oh, I agree. the sound design and music is incredible.
  451. (08:28:08) Cheeseness: frogg: No way. Take it slowly, let it sink in
  452. (08:28:29) ***frogg slaps Cheeseness with a no spoilers bat
  453. (08:28:31) frogg: <_<
  454. (08:28:33) Cheeseness: :D
  455. (08:29:14) Cheeseness: Whoops, picked up the same folder twice
  456. (08:29:18) BabbleFish: frogg: There's gonna be big spoilers up in a few minutes here, on the stream. You might pause it if you don't want them
  457. (08:29:37) Cheeseness: cc_tamas: I really enjoyed your GDC talk on sceneography
  458. (08:29:42) e: I bought it after Act II, and I took a break between the two. for Act III, I played that immediately once it came out, but definitely missed some things (even though I did spend a long time on it), e.g. the van – so then I replayed it (2x now), taking it even slower, exploring more, and letting it sink in as Cheeseness said :)
  459. (08:29:45) Cheeseness: (that's what it was called, right?)
  460. (08:29:46) frogg: ohoh, im not streaming righ tnow.
  461. (08:29:51) e: to respond to frogg's question before ^
  462. (08:30:21) cc_tamas: Cheesiness: aw thanks :)
  463. (08:30:39) frogg: yeah, taking it slow and exploring is fine, but i have a habit to play and then not for a few weeks and get frustrated with not remebering things as if i'd just put it diwn the day before
  464. (08:30:49) Cheeseness: I bought it a little while after Act I came out. I'd not heard of it before and thought it must've been some kind of racing game >_<
  465. (08:31:04) serena: ahahah
  466. (08:31:07) e: hahaha
  467. (08:31:10) BabbleFish: Racing antique trucks down the 65
  468. (08:31:23) BabbleFish: Sounds of shattering class in the back
  469. (08:31:23) Cheeseness: Being an adventure game fan, I wasn't disappointed ^_^
  470. (08:31:25) BabbleFish: *glass
  471. (08:31:44) frogg: oh, it was bugging me on humble, but i think because im signed into US VPN the price thing is all whhhhhha
  472. (08:32:09) Permafry_42: gonna have to leave early unfortunately. nice chatting with everyone!
  473. (08:32:18) BabbleFish: See you, hoopy frood!
  474. (08:32:19) Cheeseness: I like the icons for which locations correspond to which characters
  475. (08:32:25) Permafry_42 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  476. (08:32:30) e: I remember in the steam forums someone asked if it was an "8-bit platformer action adventure" game or something like that. someone's response was along the lines of "it may be possible to come up with a more completely *opposite description*, but it'd be hard"
  477. (08:32:34) frogg: purchase incoming
  478. (08:33:03) BabbleFish: *ducks*
  479. (08:33:15) Intern_Lori: ...Quack?
  480. (08:33:17) BabbleFish: Oops I didn't know that went bold
  481. (08:33:18) e: ouch
  482. (08:33:50) Lightkey: BabbleFish: only if your client interprets it that way
  483. (08:34:23) Cheeseness: OK, I think I might head to the bureau unless anybody has anything they want me to hunt up on the Zero
  484. (08:34:30) BabbleFish: ...My client is whatever the thing on the DFGC page is
  485. (08:34:33) Cheeseness: We'll finish up before the flashback
  486. (08:34:38) BabbleFish: I'm good, Cheeseness
  487. (08:34:38) e: hey, have we gotten to the consolidated power office/company? when I followed the directions in "notes" on my first playthrough it wasn't where it said it was :)
  488. (08:34:43) serena: ok
  489. (08:34:51) Cheeseness: We went there just earlier, e
  490. (08:34:59) BabbleFish: Yeah we already passed through it
  491. (08:35:07) e: hmm, i'll have to find it again on my own then. no worries!
  492. (08:35:27) frogg: done!
  493. (08:35:29) BabbleFish: Whenever I see that sandwich I expect a TF2 reference for some reason
  494. (08:35:37) BabbleFish: Someone needs to take me off of Steam for a while
  495. (08:35:52) Cheeseness: That sanwich is from The Entertainment - a reference to a tax evasion method
  496. (08:36:06) e: the brick sandwich!
  497. (08:36:12) BabbleFish: Yeah I know xD
  498. (08:36:22) e: this game's taught me a lot of history, too—really :)
  499. (08:36:28) Cheeseness: :)
  500. (08:36:34) RUBICN64 left the room (quit: Quit: AndroidIrc Disconnecting).
  501. (08:36:42) Cheeseness: The cursor icon is reversed on the bell
  502. (08:36:45) e: and made me want to re-read the iceman cometh :P
  503. (08:36:56) e: wait, ooh, it is
  504. (08:36:59) Cheeseness: I'm disappointed that I couldn't get in the lift here
  505. (08:37:03) Cheeseness: I wanted to see more bears
  506. (08:37:09) e: yeah, same—no walking to the left.
  507. (08:37:21) BabbleFish: Who needs bears when you have Lula
  508. (08:37:24) e left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  509. (08:37:27) Cheeseness: BEARS!
  510. (08:37:35) e [18f02140@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  511. (08:37:39) e: wait what happened
  512. (08:37:47) BabbleFish: Bears
  513. (08:37:50) Cheeseness: Not sure, you left and missed me saying BEARS!
  514. (08:37:53) BabbleFish: Bears happened
  515. (08:37:58) e: :(
  516. (08:38:07) e left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  517. (08:38:11) e [18f02140@hide-50D287EE.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  518. (08:38:13) e: okay there
  519. (08:38:19) e: sorry :D
  520. (08:38:27) BabbleFish: :3
  521. (08:38:50) BabbleFish: Junebug you're so loud when you walk
  522. (08:38:56) BabbleFish: Need to fix up those servos, girl
  523. (08:38:57) e: creak, creak
  524. (08:39:01) e: heheh
  525. (08:39:03) Cheeseness: I love how some people didn't notice that
  526. (08:39:07) BabbleFish: Not so much a creak as a buzz
  527. (08:39:12) Intern_Lori: It's sort of endearing in a way ; u;
  528. (08:39:22) BabbleFish: I didn't notice it at first and then I was walking around and I'm like
  529. (08:39:26) Cheeseness: We'll pull up stumps in a sec
  530. (08:39:26) BabbleFish: "What's that sound?"
  531. (08:39:34) BabbleFish: Wallking around a bit more
  532. (08:39:41) BabbleFish: "...Wait a minute"
  533. (08:39:53) Cheeseness: At first I thought it was the truck, and that it was meant to indicate that it hadn't really been fixed
  534. (08:39:55) BabbleFish: Squinting at Junebug
  535. (08:40:01) BabbleFish: Yeah, same here
  536. (08:40:01) e: god, i love this scene and how it's, like, a flashback. because you realize, then, when conway and shannon went back to the HotMK and when talking to donald, they knew about the strangers and who they were and what they were trying to do
  537. (08:40:02) Cheeseness: But then I noticed that it only happened when Junebug walked
  538. (08:40:04) e: but players didn't know :)
  539. (08:40:07) flesk: I play with my sound turned down pretty low, so I didn't notice that either.
  540. (08:40:54) BabbleFish: I love the bit when Lula shows up at the hall, and she and Donald are shouting over the group's heads
  541. (08:41:06) Cheeseness: As they look back and forth ^_^
  542. (08:41:06) BabbleFish: And they just keep looking back and forth in unison
  543. (08:41:30) Cheeseness: Conway's leg effect is great
  544. (08:41:40) serena: hat leg made of debt
  545. (08:41:48) serena: *that
  546. (08:42:41) BabbleFish: The shoes and eyeglasses thing still creeps me out
  547. (08:42:56) Cheeseness: I like that the ambient effects are more prominent here as we sit and talk
  548. (08:43:00) e: i wonder if more of conway will turn into… hard times-skeleton style…
  549. (08:43:09) e: god the ambience in this scene is great
  550. (08:43:14) BabbleFish: The only thing I can connect to it is the holocaust, when they'd take people's shoes and glasses before... Well.
  551. (08:43:25) e: oh, whoa.
  552. (08:43:26) BabbleFish: The shoes/glasses I mean
  553. (08:43:30) BabbleFish: Yeah
  554. (08:43:37) Syd: I'm gonna hop out a bit early. My internet is really grumpy right now so it's nearly impossible for me to watch the stream. Enjoy the rest of the session, everyone!
  555. (08:43:46) Cheeseness: It's OK. We're about done, Syd
  556. (08:43:47) BabbleFish: Aw, see you Syd!
  557. (08:43:57) Cheeseness: I'll stop when we get below the church
  558. (08:43:58) serena: bye
  559. (08:44:01) Intern_Lori: See you !
  560. (08:44:18) Syd left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  561. (08:44:39) BabbleFish: Whoohoo!
  562. (08:44:47) Cheeseness: Well, that's it for this session's stream. Thanks heaps for watching/chatting, and big thanks to cc_jake and cc_tamas for joining us!
  563. (08:44:55) cc_jake: thanks y'all!
  564. (08:44:59) cc_jake: good chatting as always :)
  565. (08:44:59) Cheeseness: Let me know when the voice over stops (if I kill the stream too early, it gets cut off)
  566. (08:45:00) BabbleFish: Thank all you guys. This has been great!
  567. (08:45:00) serena: thanks!
  568. (08:45:01) cc_tamas: thanks!
  569. (08:45:08) e: *eagerly awaits the chat logs for the first 1.5 hours i sadly missed*
  570. (08:45:11) BabbleFish: It's over
  571. cc_jake cc_tamas
  572. (08:45:13) Cheeseness: You're planning to join us again next week, right cc_jake and cc_tamas?
  573. (08:45:20) cc_jake: yep!
  574. (08:45:24) cc_tamas: yeah

  576. (08:45:29) serena: it's a date
  577. (08:45:32) Cheeseness: Awesome :D
  578. (08:45:33) e: ahh, so excited cc_jake cc_tamas!
  579. (08:45:35) flesk: Thanks for streaming, Cheeseness.
  580. (08:45:39) Intern_Lori: Nice to see everyone! Was a great show c: I wish I could join again, but I"ll be gone next week.
  581. (08:45:49) Cheeseness: Ah, no problems, Intern_Lori
  582. (08:45:58) Cheeseness: Nice to see a couple of new faces this week :)
  583. (08:46:26) BabbleFish: Nice to see you too :D
  584. (08:46:31) cc_jake: ok take care y'all :)
  585. (08:46:31) BabbleFish: I need to come here more often
  586. (08:46:33) cc_jake left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  587. (08:46:53) BabbleFish: Alrighty, I'm out. Thank you again! -salute-
  588. (08:46:55) e: you do, BabbleFish :D
  589. (08:46:58) e: also, nice username. heh
  590. (08:47:00) Cheeseness: Here's a link to cc_tamas' scenography talk http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1020596/Scenography-of-Kentucky-Route
  591. (08:47:02) e: see ya!
  592. (08:47:04) Cheeseness: Which I mentioned earlier
  593. (08:47:04) cc_tamas: bye everyone :)
  594. (08:47:09) e: see ya cc_tamas!
  595. (08:47:13) Cheeseness: Bye cc_tamas!
  596. (08:47:13) BabbleFish left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  597. (08:47:15) Intern_Lori: Farewell, everyone!
  598. (08:47:18) e: Cheeseness, you linked that last time and I watched it. it was great!
  599. (08:47:21) e: bye Intern_Lori!
  600. (08:47:25) cc_tamas left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  601. (08:47:28) Intern_Lori left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  602. (08:47:33) Cheeseness: Yeah
  603. (08:47:38) salty_horse: HEY GUYS! what did I miss?
  604. (08:47:42) Cheeseness: lol, salty_horse
  605. (08:47:46) e: hahah
  606. (08:47:59) Cheeseness: You just missed Jake and Tamas from Cardboard Computer :D
  607. (08:48:26) salty_horse: KR0?
  608. (08:48:30) Cheeseness: Yep
  609. (08:48:36) Cheeseness: We just finished our second session
  610. (08:48:43) Cheeseness: (they'll be joining us again next week)
  611. (08:48:58) salty_horse: then it's good that I missed it, because I'm still in the middle of act 1 :D
  612. (08:49:15) Cheeseness: Ha ha
  613. (08:49:18) Cheeseness: What do you think so far?
  614. (08:49:18) jfrisby: Yeah.. I was hiding, since I haven't finished Act 3, either :P
  615. (08:49:24) Cheeseness: Hey jfrisby
  616. (08:49:28) Cheeseness: How far through are you?
  617. (08:49:33) jfrisby: Hey! :D
  618. (08:49:52) e: i need to replay act iii again, i think… :)
  619. (08:49:53) jfrisby: Only a couple scenes.. I think I'm about to watch that band play?
  620. (08:50:16) e: ohhh
  621. (08:50:19) e: you're in for a treat
  622. (08:50:29) jfrisby: I'll make it through by next week :D
  623. (08:51:03) Cheeseness: Awesome :D
  624. (08:51:04) e: it's one of the defining scenes of the third act (or even whole game), i'd say.
  625. (08:51:55) Cheeseness: e: tamas said that the version of Too Late To Love you that's in the soundtrack is "just one trajectory through it"
  626. (08:52:09) Cheeseness: I'm not sure if you were here for that bit, but we were talking about it last week
  627. (08:52:45) e: yeah, i listened to it again this morning–and heard lyrics i hadn't often been inclined to pick during my playthroughs. :D
  628. (08:52:53) e: yup, i remember that from last week
  629. (08:53:53) salty_horse: Cheeseness, it was a while ago, but I liked it. played hot-seat with a friend. it was a bit slow, especially when exploring the mines and having to backtrack. I stopped when I entered a museum and it gave me a CYOA :)
  630. (08:54:36) Cheeseness: :)
  631. (08:55:03) salty_horse: and now I bid you good night
  632. (08:55:10) e: okay, see ya salty_horse!
  633. (08:55:26) salty_horse left the room (quit: Quit: Leaving).
  634. (08:56:14) e: i wonder if act iv will follow up on the (phrasing it this way to avoid spoilers) sound in the ferry scene, or if that was just a thing to make you think "whoa. heh. cool." :)
  635. (08:56:25) e: or if it'll be another cool reveal like julian
  636. (08:56:32) Cheeseness: I liked the shot in Tamas' talk which showed the horse beneath Equus Oils
  637. (08:56:53) e: LOVE how the basement of equus oils is the rest of the horse :)
  638. (08:57:02) GameClubFan_448739 [5da76adc@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] entered the room.
  639. (08:57:06) Cheeseness: I don't feel like that's discernable in the game though
  640. (08:57:12) e: realizing that was awesome
  641. (08:57:20) e: oh, really? you can see it, i think
  642. (08:57:21) GameClubFan_448739 left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
  643. (08:57:24) Cheeseness: Hmm
  644. (08:57:40) e: hold on, i might have a screenshot of it
  645. (08:57:42) Cheeseness: I've never been able to walk past the table
  646. (08:57:51) e: but isn't the breaker past the table?
  647. (08:57:56) Cheeseness: It is?
  648. (08:58:00) e: yup
  649. (08:58:03) Cheeseness: Hmm
  650. (08:58:23) e: you walk past it once the bedquilt ramblers leave ;)
  651. (08:58:39) Cheeseness: I guess so
  652. (08:58:49) Cheeseness: I still didn't get the impression of a horse from the space revealed
  653. (08:59:03) Lightkey: that was not the last one? guess I will wait before I start playing it
  654. (08:59:33) e: oh well. you may have had to walk around with the light on a bit. i think it flashes showing the whole body for a second once you turn on the breaker.
  655. (08:59:41) e: i didn't have a screenshot but found this one online: http://songforthecrickets.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/kentucky-route-zero-basement-equus-oils.jpg
  656. (09:02:02) Cheeseness: Oh yeah, that's totally visible

  661. (09:05:11) e: oh, did chat mess up for me again?
  662. (09:05:15) Cheeseness: On that note, I'll wrap up the chat log. Would love to see some thoughts thrown up in the forum thread if anybody's keen (there's the rating guide thing in the FAQ thread as well ^_^ ) http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/14032/
