I never really sat down and brainstormed during anything I wrote; I would just make it up as I went along.

"Would they like this bit? Would they think this is funny? Would they think this is hot?"

The verbage and metaphors are something I consider to be a key part of how to write a story. Instead of using the same ol' tired words again and again, just call it as many different things (that ultimately mean the same) as you can.

Hard to believe I got compliments about what I wrote, now that I look back.
