   An unknown photon crystalline body is discovered in a huge crater at the bottom of the Seto Inland Sea.
    Named the Seto Inland Sea Mir, the photon crystalline body is determined to be an intelligent life-form. Presented at the Astrobiological Society conference, it is analyzed under the direct control of the Japanese government.

The Seto Inland Sea Mir's experience information reveals the existence of multiple forms of advanced intelligent life. The Nibelheim Project is started to extract scientific technology from it.

    Hypothesizing the existence of a super-ancient Mir, a theory is put forth that claims it was the Mir that caused apes to evolve into Homo sapiens.

The similarities between the Mir genetic information and Human chromosomes is established, but the research results are covered up and Mir researched is transferred exclusively to Albericht.

It is found that the super-ancient Mir caused apes to evolve into Homo sapiens. The Mir was fused to the human chromosome, and is being passed on even to the present day.

The Seto Inland Sea Mir is divided into three parts and stored by Albericht, the JSDF, and International Energy Research Company.

    Communications with international space station Aria 2 are lost. All satellites in orbit are destroyed, communications between all agencies all over the world are cut off, and countless public transportation facilities (especially air) take heavy casualties. Disaster relief requests come in from all over. A huge photon crystalline body falls to earth near the North Pole and is named the Arctic Mir.    Festum appeared intermittently, pulling all countries around the world into combat. Numerous photon crystalline bodies are detected in fixed orbits around earth. The UN limits flight to below 7000m.

    NATO is wiped out. The UN HQ is destroyed. The chains of command in the European and American fronts are paralysed by this.
    New United Nations established / Humanity Army founded in South Africa. They take command of surviving forces.

    The Seto Inland Sea Mir grows. Japan's birth rate rapidly declines, and the Japanese government announces that there are zero new births.

   It is found that the Seto Inland Sea Mir rendered all living organisms in Japan infertile.
    Albericht Agency creates  the Coagula, an artificial uterus, in an effort to cultivate embryos.

    The Kanto region is wiped out by Festum attack.
    An emergency meeting of the World Security Council is held, and decides to destroy the Mir (Japan with it).
    The Human Army commences a nuclear strike against Japan. The attack virtually erases Japan from the face of the earth, leaving behind only Okinawa and half of Hokkaido.

Survivors from Albericht, the JSDF, and IERC gather in Asahikawa, Hokkaido and form an interim Japanese government. The Arcadian Project is started. Makabe Akane is posted to the JSDF's second combined brigade (Ehime prefecture Matsuyama camp).

    The United States of America collapses. Armies of all countries including the remaining American forces are integrated into the Human Army.

    Using the former city of Obihiro as a base, the construction of a huge ark over the pacific ocean begins. Asagi Fumihiko is posted to the JSDF's second combined brigade and fights on the front lines in an anti-Festum squad.

    First F-Plan is carried out. Construction starts on Professor Ikumi Nishio's Siegfried-system integrated prototype Fafner. Asagi Fumihiko ends his basic training and is posted to ace pilot Makabe Akane's 502nd Squadron.

    Countries press forward with their own Arcadian Projects.

The giant Fafner-carrying submarine fortress, christened the Alvis, enters service.

    Artificial islands are built on top of the submarine fortress for use as residential space.

Selection process for inhabitants of the artificial island begins.

    Settlement of the artificial island begins. It is named Tatsumiya-jima.

Hokkaido is attacked and wiped out by the Festum.

The Festum and Tatsumiya clash for the first time.

Makabe Kazuki is born. The JSDF's forces take heavy losses and it becomes the Alvis Guardian.

The prototype Zero Fafner's startup experiment fails and the pilots including Nishio Takumi die. Nishio Yukimi leaves the project, which is inherited by Mitsuhiro Bartland.

Mirror camouflage system Melkfin (*no idea what メルクフィン is supposed to be, probably spelling it wrong) is completed. Minashiro Saya is partically assimilated by the Seto Insland Sea Mir and dies. Makabe Akane is assimilated. Work on turning the Zero Fafner into a weapons system is abandoned, and it is converted into an auxilliary system for Alvis.

    Alvis deploys the mirror camouflage system and moves to the Southern Hemispherewhere chance of combat is reduced. Development of a new Fafner model with the Siegfried System externalised (Nothung model) is completed.

    Installation of pilot training hypnosis system in Tatsumiya Island middle school.

The Nothung Model's first startup experiment is a success.

Resistance to assimilation through an immune system like process is confirmed. Festum thought-waves enter Tatsumiya, and the children respond to it.

The Nothung Model's second startup experiment is a success. Mitsuhiro Bartland leaves the island.
