  2. [21:12] <~Garlyle> For those who are unaware: IT'S FUCKING NEW YEARS MORNING IN IVORYSCAPE CITY YEAH
  3. [21:13] <~Garlyle> The streets are lit up like a goddamn birthday candle with shops still open well into the middle of the night, and an hour-and-a-bit ago, the skies lit up to match with a somewhat delayed fireworks show as part of the festivities.
  4. [21:13] <~Garlyle> Following that had been an onslaught of music, with nearly every performer in the region - from huge megabands to street corner harmonica players - getting in to pump the city full of cheer.
  5. [21:14] <~Garlyle> It's getting kind of goddamn cold, but there's so many people mulling about that it's offsetting it at least somewhat. The entire population is out on the streets tonight, afterall, for the festivities that will go until the sun rises.
  6. [21:15] <~Garlyle> ...The next step of which will be the opening of the Grand Colosseum in about 40 minutes - a site for massively-televised Pokemon battles and the site for much of the Pokemon League's preliminary tournaments each year
  7. [21:16] <~Garlyle> ...But that's not this moment in time. What IS this moment in time for four Wanderers... is up to them.

  9. [21:19] <Steve_Weislet> Steve battles the cold in his own way, by staying close to Gaav, whose tail fire is burning brightly and keeping things around him warm. He wanders down the streets, taking in the various music styles.
  10. [21:20] <Steve_Weislet> While it was a fun evening and all, Steve somehow never stayed put for too long at any one stall, always moving from booth to booth, trying to find something to keep occupied until the Colosseum opening.
  11. 06[21:21] * Reinhard is still pretty much riding off his high from beating up creepy clowns. He's long since sent his brother--and treecko-- to bed, and took a short nap himself.
  12. [21:21] <Marcus> Crickets. Crickets and a fait sound of festivities in the distance are all Marcus can here. Laying out in the grass just outside the city.

  14. 06[21:23] * Trevor ambles about the city, especially wary of his surroundings and of bumping into others along the way. His Pachirisu, Trudy, rests atop his shoulder, looking disturbingly . . . Built in comparison to the small boy, who might otherwise be blown away by a strong enough gust of wind.
  15. [21:25] <Steve_Weislet> "Duplica, no!" comes Steve's panicked cry, as a Ditto was making its way towards one of the bands, starting to shift into the maraca playing Ludicolo.
  16. [21:26] <~Garlyle> Steve: Where Steve goes, he finds that on occasion, he's not the only one close to Gaav; people seem to lean towards the Charmeleon's warmth instinctively wherever he goes. Of course there's more important things than that at the moment, there is now an extra Ludicolo having a samba-off with the band.

  33. [21:30] <~Garlyle> Marcus: It's comforting in a way, being away from the hustle and bustle but it's also getting really cold. It is 2AM in the middle of winter, afterall.
  34. [21:30] <Sara_Tosen> "..." Silence. That's what the girl heard as she walked through the festivities. Sure it was a festival. And the music was likely lively. Sara didn't know. She didn't care that much either.
  35. [21:30] <~Garlyle> Trevor: You're surprised to spot, on a nearby musician's stand, a pair of Ludicolo which appear to be having a DANCE BATTLE
  36. 06[21:31] * Marcus shivers a bit.
  37. 01[21:32] <Trevor> "Oh, my..." He chuckles to himself. "They've really pulled out all the stops for these performances..."
  38. [21:32] <Sara_Tosen> <You are cold?> Marcus hears that voice above all the din as if it's being projected into his mind.
  39. [21:32] <~Garlyle> Sara can only rely on the sights of the festivities; there are people dancing in the streets, and they look happy, but she can't hear any of this.
  40. 01[21:32] <Trevor> (Would I be able to see through the Ditto's illusion? I think one of my Clairsentient powers lets me do that, but I'm not quite sure.)
  41. [21:32] <~Garlyle> (as a note, Marcus is located outside of town)
  42. [21:32] <Ramiel> (Sorry to interrupt, but curious - is there going to be another game in roughly this same setting?)

  46. 01[21:33] <Trevor> (Err, never mind. That's next level I get Dispel Illusion anyways.)
  47. [21:33] <Ramiel> (Sweet, I'll try to be ready and available for that. Now I shut up)

  51. 01[21:34] <Trevor> (So you're aiming the telekinesis at Trevor instead?)
  52. [21:34] <Marcus> "Well I suppose it's time to find a nice warm bed." Marcus mumbles to himself and his sleeping Pokemon. But before he can move to wake them, he gets the sudden urge to pee.

  54. [21:35] <Sara_Tosen> (telepathy but yes)
  55. 01[21:35] <Trevor> (Yea, that's what I meant. Durr)
  56. [21:35] <~Garlyle> Duplica seems to be doing particularly well at keeping up with the professionally trained Ludicolo, but is starting to slip up. Steve, what do you?
  57. 06[21:36] * Marcus stumbles around trying to find a tree. His legs are sore from not moving and the cold weather.
  58. [21:37] <~Garlyle> Fortunately for Marcus, there's one not too far. Still, he should see to finishing up his business and getting into town soon; it wouldn't do for a trainer to freeze on the outskirts of town in such an embarassing predicament.
  59. 01[21:37] <Trevor> "What was..." Trevor looks around after saying this, almost in a frantic, panicked state. 'Surely it's not happening NOW, is it?' he thinks to himself.
  60. 06[21:39] * Marcus 'finishes his business' before waking his Pokemon and telling them it's time to head back into the city.
  61. [21:39] <Steve_Weislet> Steve covers his face in embarrassment, gingerly holding up his Pokeball. Before he can recall Duplica, though, his little Petilil, Scarlet, hops out of her own Pokeball, and onto the stage.
  62. [21:39] <Sara_Tosen> <Are you alright?> A tug on a sleeve. It was a younger girl...still in her mid teens by the looks of things, dressed in a thick lilac-colored coat with a knit hat that looks kind of like a vanillite. <I hope I didn't startle you...>
  63. [21:39] <Steve_Weislet> Now Steve is face palming with both hands, as Petilil, using her natural Charm, starts to dance around Duplica.
  64. [21:40] <Sara_Tosen> She seems to be speaking...but there is a notable desynchronization between her lips moving and the voice speaking.
  65. 01[21:40] <Trevor> (Which arm did you tug? Left or right, Sara?)
  66. [21:40] <~Garlyle> Surprisingly, the musician on stage doesn't seem to be having any issues becoming an accompaniment to this sudden impromptu performance. He's someone you've never seen before, rocking a guitar and dressed--underdressed, a little, especially for THIS weather--and with rather flamboyant orange hair.

  68. 01[21:40] <Trevor> (Okay.)
  69. [21:41] <~Garlyle> Marcus: The din of the city quickly goes from a far away sound to an all encompassing noise, that requires you to tune in to the things around you if you want to catch anything more than random words and sounds. It's warmer, though; and there's tonnes of little cafes open with people sitting outside, mugs of coffee or tea warming them.
  70. 01[21:42] <Trevor> Trevor jumps up when he feels the tug on his blazer and turns towards the girl, almost brandishing his cane on her before realizing what had happened. "Oh, it's just..." He lets loose a massive sigh of relief.
  71. [21:42] <~Garlyle> The Ludicolos - or rather, the Ludicolo and Duplica - seemed to have reached some sort of agreement about their dance prowess, and have now joined forces.
  72. 01[21:43] <Trevor> "I do apologize... I'm just easily startled, is all," he says, visibly relieved for some reason.

  74. 01[21:43] <Trevor> (Oh God... Oh GOD yes!)
  75. [21:44] <~Garlyle> Unfortunately Sara cannot hear this song, and that is a travesty.
  76. [21:44] <Sara_Tosen> <oh...I'm sorry...> despite the obvious lag, the apology seems sincere enough...
  77. [21:44] <Marcus> "Mmm. Some hot tea sounds great." to no one but himself. He looks around to see if he notices anyone he recognizes. It's seem rather lonely to go into a cafe by himself.
  78. 01[21:46] <Trevor> Trudy, completely swept up in dancing fever or possibly looking for some excuse to get some attention, scampers onto the stage and joins in on the dance party. She's nowhere near as good as the twin Ludicolo, but damnit the litlte Pachirisu's trying. "It's alright; really. Don't worry yourself too much over it." Trevor goes to rub the back of his head with his right hand, but pauses and switches to the left. The motion in his right hand is somewhat rigid to someone who's paying attention.
  79. [21:46] <~Garlyle> Unfortunately, there's nobody Marcus recognises. But as his eyes scan, he spots something that looks really warm - there's a Charmeleon standing among the crowd, with a nice warm flame out in the open, the snow melting clear away from it.
  80. 01[21:47] <Trevor> (Also, I'm now bouncing around on my bed to the beat of the song... Not to be taken in a weird way. I just sit in my bed when I'm on the computer.)
  81. [21:47] <Steve_Weislet> Steve made sure to wait until the current song was over, before calling back Duplica and Scarlet. Gaav was allowed to stay out of his Pokeball for now. He bowed deep in apology to the band on stage.
  82. [21:47] <Marcus> Marcus smiles a bit and gladly attempts to move closer to the Charmeleon for warmth.
  83. [21:48] <Marcus> (Is it possible to tell who the Charmeleon's trainer is?)
  84. 06[21:48] * Sara_Tosen was paying attention. <is your other arm hurt?> She looks at him awkwardly, despite being a few years older she seems to have a child-like innocence.
  85. [21:49] <~Garlyle> Instead of being angry though, Steve is surprised to find the young musician - he's maybe only a little older than Steve - approaching him. "Oh man, was that your Ludicolo up there?" he's still grooving a little, even if all that's playing now is the drum beat from some machine in the back of the stage.
  86. [21:49] <~Garlyle> The Charmeleon seems to be facing a young teen, and waiting obediantly for him; the teen has just been approached by a musician who hopped off of the stage after his most recent song.
  87. [21:50] <Steve_Weislet> "Oh, yes. I mean, no. I mean, that was my Ditto, Duplica. It saw how much fun your Ludicolo was having on stage, and must have wanted in."
  88. [21:50] <~Garlyle> Gaav notices Marcus getting in close, but seems to have no objections. It secretly gains two hundred ego experience
  89. [21:51] <Sara_Tosen> *pop!* a metallic pokemon appeared at Sara's feet, iron armor gleaming underneath the lights. The Aron seemed plenty happy to see all the festivities, even if it's owner was a bit too frail to pick it up.
  90. [21:51] <Sara_Tosen> <it looks like Rocky likes you!> Sara says with a smile.
  91. 01[21:52] <Trevor> "Oh, my arm?" He looks at the arm, then back at the woman standing before him. "Oh, uh, it's nothing serious." He then checks the time on his watch nervously, then calls Trudy back off the stage. "Get down, girl... It's getting quite late, and we really should be retiring soon."
  92. [21:52] <Marcus> "What a cute Charmeleon you have." Marcus says to the teen, accidentally interrupting the conversation between him and musician.
  93. [21:52] <~Garlyle> "Oh, is that it! Glad I could help!" the young musician grins, then extends his hand. "I'm Akira, nice to meet you!"
  94. 06[21:53] * Sara_Tosen can't fail to stifle a yawn either. <yeah...I really should wear a watch or something. By the way...what was your name?>
  95. 01[21:53] <Trevor> The little squirrel returns to her perch atop her friend's shoulder. "It was really quite pleasant talking to you, but I really must be going."
  96. [21:53] <Steve_Weislet> Steve blinks in confusion. This man was certainly a good sport. Smiling, Steve took the hand shake. "Steve. It's a pleasure, sure."
  97. 01[21:54] <Trevor> "Oh, right... How silly of me. My name's Trevor. Maybe we'll run into each other some other time." He seems to be getting a little unnerved.
  98. [21:54] <~Garlyle> "Oh, you've got friends?" Akira makes the completely wrong observation almost instantly about Marcus. "Oh! And there was that other Pachirisu... hey, hey, youuuu!"
  99. [21:54] <Marcus> William, the Wartortle, hugs Marcus' pant leg tightly. Shy and afraid of the Charmeleon.
  100. [21:54] <~Garlyle> He's now attempting to flag down Trevor and lead him over to the others.
  101. [21:54] <Steve_Weislet> The sound of Marcus over his shoulder catches his ear. With his free hand, Steve attempts to try shaking his hand as well. "And, thank you. He likes to help. Although Cute might not be entirely..."
  102. [21:55] <Steve_Weislet> Gaav certainly took a bit of an ego bruise being called "cute."
  103. 01[21:55] <Trevor> (Well, so much for escape from the self-consciousness-induced awkward. :P)
  104. [21:55] <~Garlyle> "I just got the greatest idea--hey, over here!" He's getting excited about -something-. He turns to Marcus. "And you, too, what's your name?"
  105. [21:55] <Sara_Tosen> <I'm sara. Nice to meet you.> she is totally oblivious to the singer trying to grab her attention.
  106. [21:56] <Marcus> "Oh excuse me, I only meant it as a compliment. Sorry I'm not that great with people, heh." Marcus says awkwardly, as he attempt to shake Steve's hand in such an odd position.
  107. 01[21:56] <Trevor> "Oh, uh, was it I you were calling for?" He points to himself somewhat awkwardly. 'Well, there goes my chance to escape...' he says to himself.
  108. [21:57] <~Garlyle> "Wanna give me a hand with something? You've both got Pokemon that looked so happy dancing on stage--oh, we'd need a fourth, though..." he ponders, tapping his chin. "You guys know anyone?"
  109. [21:57] <~Garlyle> He's a little hyperactive.
  110. 06[21:57] * Sara_Tosen looks to make her way through the crowds...but for the moment she is a bit stuck.
  111. [22:00] <~Garlyle> Akira closes his eyes for a moment, tapping his forehead; you're left to wonder idly how the hell a guy can wear such a thin shirt - and have it open too - in the goddamn middle of winter.
  112. [22:01] <~Garlyle> Sara, meanwhile, hears a voice in the back of her head. <Hey. You there!>
  113. 01[22:01] <Trevor> "Oh, you mean Trudy?" He looks back, seeing Sara leaving. He then scampers over on seeing her go as quickly as he can, but Trudy makes a noise as if to call out to the girl. "I'm sure Trudy could lend a helping... Oh, what is it, Trudy?"
  114. [22:01] <Sara_Tosen> <hello? Where are you?> she doesn't know who it is...but would like to face them.
  115. [22:02] <Marcus> "William would you stop that? This Charmeleon seems nice."
  116. [22:02] <~Garlyle> <Over here, by the stage!> Akira seems to have noticed Trudy's calling out to Sara, and has now locked onto Sara - and is jumping up and down, waving his hand to try to get her attention.
  117. 06[22:03] * Sara_Tosen turns around and sighs. Just her luck. <umm...what exactly did you need me for?>
  118. [22:04] <~Garlyle> Akira grins as he has successfully dragged Sara in, like it or not. When he speaks, Sara can hear his voice crisp in her head. "I wanna continue my show, and I want your guys' help psyching the crowd up."
  119. [22:05] <Marcus> "Are you talking to me?" Marcus asks.
  120. [22:05] <Sara_Tosen> <umm...I'm not sure I'm the kind of person you want for that...>
  121. 06[22:06] * Sara_Tosen has gone into broadcast mode, so to anyone not seeing that her lips aren't moving, it sounds pretty normal. Sort of.
  122. [22:06] <~Garlyle> "Bah, anyone can do it. You've all got Pokemon, right? We'll make it... A CONTEST!" oh god he seems way too excited about this; hell, he's already scrambling himself back up on stage, offering a hand to help others up.
  123. [22:07] <Steve_Weislet> This was an idea Steve liked, actually, first in line to get back on stage. "I suppose Gaav's good where he is, keeping the crowd warm." The Charmeleon curled his claws into some sort of thumbs up.
  124. 01[22:07] <Trevor> 'Well, this is rather awkward...' Trevor thinks to himself as the girl approaches. "Well, I was planning to head in for some rest soon; would it take a fair while?" He can't help but keep glancing at Sara as he says this, silently cursing himself for trying to make the hasty exit.
  125. [22:08] <Sara_Tosen> <a...contest?> Ohgod what has she gotten herself in to?
  126. 06[22:08] * Marcus stares blankly.
  127. [22:08] <~Garlyle> "Not too long; just long enough for one song, really," Akira grins. "There's money to be won of course, and possibly a little fame, who knows what kind of people are gonna be out in the crowd?"
  128. [22:09] <~Garlyle> He makes a wave of his hand, and woosh! Up comes his guitar off the ground of its own accord and back into his hands.
  129. [22:09] <Sara_Tosen> (oh god I know nothing of contests)
  130. 01[22:09] <Trevor> (Me neither... Hell, I gotta pull out my old sheets and plug the moves in so I know what the hell to do!)
  131. [22:10] <~Garlyle> (I've never run a contest before either under PTA rules so this will be new to me too!)
  132. [22:10] <Marcus> "Money?" Marcus grins eagerly. "Musicican guy! Can I volunteer Alfred here?" Marcus points to the Scraggy laying on his head.
  133. [22:10] <Sara_Tosen> (I can't even do that T.T)
  134. [22:11] <~Garlyle> "Sure. I'll let you each choose a participant," he nods.
  135. [22:11] <Marcus> (I've got an Excel sheet that has the contest info on it I think)
  136. [22:12] <Sara_Tosen> It's cold. Like REALLY FUCKING COLD. so Rocky is the only pokemon sara has that won't freeze half to death.
  137. 01[22:12] <Trevor> (I found an old sheet... Thankfully. And none of my Pokemon knowing Gen V moves makes this easy on me.)
  138. [22:13] <Steve_Weislet> Steve thinks about this, then releases Scarlet. "Scarlet, do you want to take part in this contest?" The Petilil made a happy, affirmative noise.
  139. [22:13] <Ramiel> (Darn, this whole session would be practically perfect for me. Ah well.)
  140. [22:13] <~Garlyle> (This is why I wanted BB in originally; he's the one playing an actual co-ordinator)
  141. 01[22:13] <Trevor> (Fuck yeah, Musician class!)
  142. [22:14] <Sara_Tosen> (sorry. T.T)
  143. [22:14] <~Garlyle> (It's alright. BB also was not Reinhard, Charm; Mons was)
  144. [22:15] <~Garlyle> (BB turned down the chance to play earlier ANYWAY let's get shit going, I have about an hour and a half or so to do this)
  145. [22:15] <Marcus> Alfred slowly crawls down Marcus and asserts himself on the stage, he headbutts the ground to show he was ready for whatever.
  146. [22:16] <Marcus> (I have no idea how contests work, i'm going to read up on them right now)
  147. [22:16] <~Garlyle> (Only the main stage of the contests will take place, since I don't believe anyone has any introductory appeal)
  148. [22:16] <Sara_Tosen> Sara's Aron turns over and spins on its back. Sara has a bit of trouble bringing it upright again though)
  149. [22:18] <~Garlyle> (Trevor, who are you using?)
  150. 01[22:18] <Trevor> Trevor pulls out a PokeBall and lets out the contents, revealing a small, blue elephant. It shivers in the cold for a moment. "Abe, you wouldn't mind trying this out, would you?"
  151. [22:19] <Sara_Tosen> (lol rock/steel quad resistant to ice)
  152. [22:19] <~Garlyle> Akira grins, watching the Pokemon pop up on stage. "Alright. I'll take care of the music; all you guys need to do is show off! Work the crowd, and... hey, to be fair, try not to butt in on each other TOO much, okay?"

  154. 01[22:19] <Trevor> Trudy pouts a little bit, but a quick scratch behind the ear and all is forgiven to the little squirrel, its cheeks flaring up from the surprise tickle attack.
  155. 06[22:20] * Sara_Tosen frowns...music? If it's loud enough she might be able to feel the bass line vibrating through the floor...she'd have to hope Rocky could listen better than she could.
  156. [22:20] <Steve_Weislet> Scarlet turns to face the crowd, and--gee. That's a big crowd...it hides behind Steve's leg, timidly looking out. And it, in a round about way, its timidity in hiding is rather Charm-ing.
  157. [22:21] <Marcus> "You got this Alfred." Marcus says, completely sure he will win and get the money.
  158. [22:22] <Sara_Tosen> The Aron gleams brightly as it prepares an Iron defense. Sara doesn't have any expectations of winning...but she has to try, right?
  159. [22:22] <~Garlyle> (The first round of contest will begin! The nature of the contest is COOL, just like the weather. The judges are just the mass of the crowd - but specify 1, 2, or 3 (think of them as the left, middle, and right sides) regardless. In the first round, appeals are done in whatever order you declare in!)
  160. 01[22:23] <Trevor> (Oh, damn... That means I'm last... :/ If I used Natural Gift, would I lose my held Berry?)
  161. [22:23] <~Garlyle> (No, since that has nothign to do with Contest application and is a battle move application of it)

  349. [23:46] <Steve_Weislet> So caught up in the moment, Steve starts applauding and cheering as well. Gaav is desperately trying to get this flower off of his head.
