- Sov, Ganzu and I went over the spreadsheet and think we have a solution for GregTech ore generation. First off: Leave the End and the Nether generation by Greg as-is. This allows people who want all of the intricate ores to be able to go to those locations to get the materials, while those who aren't interested will be relatively unaffected.
- There's a small list of ores that are vital to GT infrastructure though, so adding these to the overworld would be essential to allow early to mid Greg progression without having to hunt down ores (anything past that assumes end or nether materials anyways).
- A pastebin of quick notes for the ores is here: http://pastebin.com/T8kcbFS9
- To try to keep this short: Cassiterite and Tetrahedrite are the default for bronze age Greg. When smelted, they provide double ingots out of the gate; processing them gives even more. They also have useful byproducts, but since there's copper and tin already in the world from other mods, they aren't "vital" to have everywhere. Placing them in that range allows the player to hunt them down if they want them, but not have them EVERYWHERE.
- Tungsten and Osmium are worrisome points - Osmium processing can provide iridium, but Osmium from Mek is super common. Electrical Age tungsten is easy to process and similarly common, instead of the pain of getting a high temp industrial blast furnace and waiting a LONG TIME per ingot in Greg. Not sure what you guys want to do here.
- Tantalite, Ruby and Bauxite will be needed to progress past a certain point in gregtech, so having them found at certain Y levels would be tremendously helpful, even if the ore clusters themselves are not very large. The only reason I have included ruby is because we do not have Project:Red or Bluepower adding it (BoP's ruby is far too rare to be reliable).
- Stibinite is needed to progress through greg's power before hitting end-game power.
- Past that, any other material needed for greg can be obtained by processing what can be acquired in the overworld (like Redstone -> Rare Earth) up until you're worrying about the top tier machinery/power for Greg. That by default assumes mining in the end, so not much of a worry if that dimension is left alone.
- The other materials (like Shadowiron and all the gems) are for either processing into materials you can get via other means or for making tools, and as such can be discarded from the overworld's ore generation.
