  64. **Intro strategy and items**
  65.
  66. Well, you've spawned. First things first, check your inventory ("G"). Servers can decide what fresh spawns have. It should be nothing more than a bandage, maybe a Makarov (worst pistol) and 8 shots. However, you could have a full loadout.
  67.
  68. The first thing you need to do is find a weapon. Feel free to run ("C") in non-populated areas, but it will attract attention quickly if you run by a zombie (henceforth, zed or zeds (plural)). Items will spawn in buildings, it should be clear what buildings you can get into (you can see through windows, doors are open). Walk to the loot, look at it, scroll down and click gear.
  69.
  70. When in a populated area or near zeds, most optimal is alt crouch ("sneaky walk", "X" + "Hold/double tap shift"). If you feel comfortable picking up the pace, stick with sneaky run. You will get a handle on the zeds thresholds for visibility and noise.
  71.
  72. Bigger cities might have better stuff, but will have more zeds and attract more players.
  73.
  74. Military bases might have better stuff, but will have armored zeds and attract more players.
  75.
  76. Deerstands might have some stuff, but will have some zeds and might attract more players.
  77.
  78. TRUST NO ONE.
  79.
  80. Things you will want to pick up:
  81. Toolbelt utilities- nothing else can go in these spots, so might as well get them
  82. Map
  83. GPS
  84. Compass
  85. Hatchet
  86. Knife
  87. (Military) Flashlight
  88. Matches
  89. Toolkit
  90. Night Vision Goggles (not actually toolbelt, but same idea)
  91. (Better) weapons and appropriate ammo types
  92. Food and water if you don't have any (canteens can be refilled at water sources)
  93. Medical supplies-
  94. Bandages
  95. Blood bags (if you are not solo, you cannot give yourself a transfusion)
  96. Morphine (fixes broken bones)
  97. Painkillers (Steady ADS when injured)
  98. Better backpack for more storage capacity
  99.
  100. TRUST NO ONE.
  101.
  102. ---
  103.
  104. **Aggravated (aggroed) zeds and healing**
  105.
  106. If you aggro a zed and can't defend yourself (no silenced weapon or hatchet, risk of attracting more attention with gunshots, or too many zeds to handle), start running ("C"). Start sprinting by double tapping "W" if you need to.
  107.
  108. Zeds cannot run indoors and generally do not run at you. This is because the zeds are modeled off of the ARMA II soldier AI. Use the indoor fact to your advantage.
  109.
  110. If you get hit, you might start bleeding. Patch yourself up with a bandage or you will keep loosing health. You can interrupt the bandage animation; you will keep the bandage but keep bleeding.
  111.
  112. If you break a bone, you'll have to start crawling. Use morphine to fix this.
  113.

  170. If you are going to fly, I'd recommend changing your controls to more of a Battlefield style layout. Credit not me, I just had it saved on my phone.

  173.
  174. Option: PvP
  175. So you've decided to be a bandit. You generally shoot on sight. Whether you respect "friendly" (a call to indicate you are not hostile) is up to you.
  176.
  177. I generally declare friendly to all unless they are being threatening (chat or shooting at me). How you treat players is up to you. Try not to kill bambies (fresh spawns/new players). Thats just a dick move.
  178.
  179. It is, however, a very easy way to get better gear. We (2 in group) wound up upgrading from an AK-74 and a Lee Enfields to a silenced M4A1, silenced M9s, and FN FAL with night vision.
