  1. But this goes beyond modding. goddamn I'm getting tired of having to explain this everywhere. Ergo. You're reading this now in pasta.
  2.
  3. Here's the thing. You know how the money goes. And a far as that. Dude. It's not that bad. Biggest problem is that the developer makes more money out of the mod than the modder themselves, but hey, a little is better than nothing right? Ugh. Sorry. Threw up a little in my mouth on that last part
  4.
  5. But it goes way beyond. Hold tight and follow me here.
  6.
  7. So. Let's say this comes to pass the way as it is. Now we have developers (let's focus on Bethesda in this case) who can actually make money out of mods. Ok. Sure. Here's what happens.
  8.
  9. Bethesda already has a history of releasing bad games, who, on the release date come out filled with bugs, glitches, poor mechanics and weird AI, their games are really bad, and that includes Skyrim.
  10.
  11. But hey! They have a strong modding community, who happily fixes the bugs (unofficial patches ARE a thing) and improve the overall games, incrementanting the mechanics and sometimes even writting a better coding for AIs. So that's awesome and makes the games better.
  12.
  13. And now Bethesda can continue releasing their half assed games, not only that, they get profit out of that. Profit they didn't have to lift a finger to make! Because now, when they release the games, the community will move in to improve it, because they are awesome and that's what they do. And Bethesda, they'll just get money.
  14.
  15. They'll get money out of their lack of work. And then they get the idea. "Guys... Let's make our games more faulty. Then the modding community will move in to fix it with their mods, and we collect money on them. That way we can release more games, faster, and get as much money if not more!"
  16.
  17. And do you think other developers wouldn't jump in on the "make money not effort" bandwagon?
  18.
  19. "But... But developers woulnd't release half complete games and make money out of... Ok, that's dumb, they do that"
  20.
  21. You relate as you see what I'm talking about.
  22.
  23. So yeah. That's my point. We let this go, and I hope you like your games incomplete and filled with microtransactions in the future. Oh. By the way. You know the modder gets no money unless their mod makes more than 400$ right? So I hope you like your mods overpriced, because hey, gotta get over the hurdle to make the money, you know?
