  1. Dear Tumblr Support,
  2.
  3. This morning, I checked tumblr to find out my account attached to keven-brasil@hotmail.com was terminated, which includes my tumbleblogs unbears.tumblr.com and prizetags.tumblr.com that were attached to the email. I received an e-mail from tumblr saying that I have been terminated "for spam or affiliate marketing". I am writing this because I believe the termination/suspensions were an error or accident on your part. I have read the community guidelines to get a better understanding of all possible actions that could lead to a suspension for either "spam or affiliate marketing." The Tumblr Community Guidelines covers the various things that are considered spam within Tumblr. These include "Don’t spam people. Don’t make spammy posts, don’t post spammy replies, don’t send people spammy messages", "Don't put tags on your posts that will mislead or deceive searchers", and also not to "Put dubious code in your posts, like using JavaScript to cause redirects or inject unwanted ads in blogs. Don't use deceptive means to generate revenue or traffic, or create blogs with the primary purpose of affiliate marketing". My blog makes 8-10 posts a day, some of which are reblogs. I'm certainly not spamming by over posting, or over tagging. I don't send messages on that blog often at all, either and I do not recall sending a single message that wasn't a private reply to another message for an entire week prior to this suspension. Due to what I'd call my normal messaging habits, I do not believe that "sending spammy messages" or "spammy replies" could be a reason for my suspension. As for using "dubious code" or "misleading ads", my blog has no ads placed on it at all. The theme I use is a very common one, called "vibe theme". It was formerly the default tumblr theme of unzo.tumblr.com a theme maker for all blogs created on tumblr.com which you may remember. For this reason, and also due to the fact that I do not have any ads on my blog, I do not believe I injected any unwanted ads in my blogs. For these reasons, I believe any allegations of spam on my account were made in error.

  5. Further addressing the claims of spam on my tumblr account, I want to address this excerpt from Tumblr Community Guidelines, which says "Don't use deceptive means to generate revenue or traffic, or create blogs with the primary purpose of affiliate marketing. Spam doesn't belong on Tumblr." This is not the case of my blog, however. Its primary purpose is to entertain the hundreds of thousands of followers and the community I've amassed and cultivated over three and a half years on the website. I have always found tumblr to be the one website which allowed me to fully express myself. Sometimes, it's like my get-away where I can truly be myself. My tumbleblog at unbears.tumblr.com has over 15,000 followers and has been part of the tumblr community since early 2012. In the Tumblr Community Guidelines, it states "what tumblr is for" followed by "Tumblr celebrates creativity. We want you to express yourself freely and use Tumblr to reflect who you are, and what you love, think, and stand for." That's the reason I always felt so great about building my community on tumblr! As far as the internet in general goes, it can be a very hateful or malicious place. I have tried blogging on Blogspot in the past, but the platform was just not for me. What I always loved about tumblr was its genuine feeling of a community. I have worked hard to create thousands of original posts, many of which I Photoshop myself for my followers which I have posted at unbears.tumblr.com to make my own contributions to tumblr's community. Due to the fact that my blog has amassed millions of pageviews and almost a 20,000 followers, it could not be farther from the truth to try saying my tumbleblog was created "with the primary purpose of affiliate marketing". The primary purpose of my blog is to entertain my followers. If you look at the search trends on Google Trends under the term "unbears tumblr", you will see that since my account was created and began posting lots of relatable content, the search traffic for "unbears tumblr" spiked up, and has since remained a very strong search term since my account started in 2012. , there was not much search traffic at all for the term "unbears tumblr". My blog changed that, I created this blog to share laughs and silly cat gifs, not "market" or "spam" and I believe this suspension was made in error.

  7. I believe I can even further dispel the claims that my blog was created with the sole purpose of "affiliate marketing". In reality, my tumblr blog has not even been monetized in over a year...yet hasn't missed a day of posting. When it was monetized, it was through Google Adsense which Tumblr allows. The original blog was created in March of 2012, the "-" was dropped altogether. Also for a long period of time before my blog gained a lot of popularity, it was also not monetized in any way. That's why I don't believe this is a possible reason for this suspension. Affiliate marketing on Tumblr would be a sale of products you do not own. As I have mentioned before, my blog has not even been monetized in almost a year, since it discourages a lot of new users from enjoying my blog or following. For this reason, there should not be any links posted directly from my account that are to sell products at all. I also reblog multiples posts on my tumblr daily, from either the #unbears tag, or from posts I come across on the dashboard. If there's a caption on the post, I always keep it there if it isn't a spammy self-promotion. When I signed up on tumblr, I agreed to follow the same community guidelines as every other user. In a situation where a post is determined by Tumblr Staff to be "affiliate marketing", these terms would dictate that the user who made the original post should be suspended. Some posts of this nature could have been reblogged by tens of thousands of Tumblr users, however. This could be a problem when trying to sort between which users simply reblogged a post that had an outbound link to someone else's affiliate link. I would say it's fair to say the vast majority of users who reblog posts about products do so because they like the idea of the product, the post about it, or maybe even own one of their own. I have never reblogged a post for any reason other than finding it to be entertaining, interesting, or informative. For these reasons I believe your suspension of unbears.tumblr.com this morning was an accident, or at least a misunderstanding. The termination seemed to be made quite hastily, almost systematically. My blog has been happily a part of the amazing, creative community that is tumblr for over 2 and a half years. I love tumblr as it gives me a chance to shine as a content creator and culminate a community that is built around lots of laughs, not spam. For these reasons, I do not think my tumblr should have been terminated for "spam or affiliate marketing". I believe this was done in an overzealous manner and was an error. I would love to further use tumblr and continue participating in shaping the amazing community it is for creators. Please respond back to this at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your time

  9. Sincerely,
  10. Keven Souza
