#science rules

RULES:

1) Be respectful of other people. Abusive behavior is not acceptable. This includes direct and indirect insults.

2) The person making the claim is the one who must provide proof of their claim. It is not up to the debating parties to disprove.

3) Whenever possible, cite your sources. Ideally, without requiring a paywall to access.

4) Be respectful of other people's stances, even if they are not your own, if neither side has supporting evidence. Debate is perfectly acceptable.

5) Do not discount unproven hypothesis based on no other criteria than it is a hypothesis. Find and cite sources for or against.

6) If people ask you genuine questions, try to answer them to the best of your ability and honestly.

7) If you feel yourself getting heated and it looks like you might be getting into an argument, it is acceptable to take a few minutes and calm down. If it still looks like you or the other person will get angry, it is also acceptable to ask for a change of topic until people can think clearly again. If the mods have to suggest this, it should be given serious consideration.

8) Don't nuke the mods bro.

9) People who doubt your hypotheses have as much right to be in this room as anyone else, provided they follow the rules. Just because they don't believe you doesn't mean you should treat them poorly. See rule 1.

10) If there is a dispute over the definition of a word or concept, please try to use established definitions in the scientific community here. If speaking in terms of communities, define instances a word is used outside of it's standard definition. Switching means very different things to the tulpa community than it does in the realm of science.

11) Off topic conversation is allowed, but if someone has questions or information in relation to the science of tulpas (and related topics) please let the conversation shift towards the on topic conversation.

TLDR: OMNIRULE- DON'T BE A DICK.

Failure to follow the rules will be dealt with on a case by case basis, but in general will be enforced in the following manner by the mods-

~Official Warning
~Kick
~Ban
