- STAR VS THE FORCES OF EVIL GREENTEXT: BIRDS IN THEIR BIG NEST AGREE
- 1.
- It was a fair but windy day — and the wind was even stronger, high on top of the tall water tower.
- A bafflingly huge bird nest laid on the very top of the structure: from inside it, a very worried brunette with a ponytail peeked at Echo Creek below.
- Then, a male voice called from somewhere:
- “Hey, Sabrina: are you alright?!”
- ‘Marco?!’ the girl muttered to herself, before turning around to find the boy.
- “Hang in there” the boy in the red hoodie recommended, climbing the last rungs on the side of the tower.
- Then, he walked very slowly, and very CAREFULLY up to the nest; “Don’t worry, Sabrina: I’ll get you out of there before you know it!”
- But the cheerleader was far from confident.
- Alarmed, she whispered:
- ‘For the love of goodness, Marco: stay away! SHE’S getting back any second, now!’
- “Who’s ‘she’?!” the boy asked.
- …But before Sabrina could give an answer, a huge, ominous shadow glided across the water tower.
- Marco turned his eyes to the sky — too late, though, as the giant, yellow bird of prey momentarily swooped on top of him.
- “EEEEEK!” Marco shrilled on top of his lungs, while the massive beak quickly took hold of him.
- Then, the beast proceeded to violently shake him, and then slam him down on the metallic surface of tank, repeatedly.
- *BONK!*
- *BONK!*
- *BONK!* went Marco’s head — while Sabrina couldn’t help but stare in horror.
- …But then, the girl suddenly had an idea.
- “Chirp chirp chirp!” Sabrina started to loudly cry, jolting up and down, and opening her mouth wide.
- While still holding the pained boy in its beak, the yellow monster turned to look at her — its eyes blinking inquisitively.
- “Chirp chirp chirp!” Sabrina insisted. Then, she tried being more explicit:
- “…I am HUNGRY, mom!” she declared, pointing at her mouth, and then at Marco: “Gimme, gimme! Chirp! Chirp!”
- In a single skip, the colossal raptor climbed on the side of the nest: it gave one last shook at Marco, before dropping him beside Sabrina.
- “Ooouch!” the boy lamented, reduced in a pile of twisted and twitching limbs.
- Sabrina quickly checked if Marco was OK; then, she grabbed one of his arms, pulled it up to her mouth, and pretended to take a bite.
- “Hmmm, tasty!” she clumsily acted, chewing and rubbing her belly.
- She turned up to the giant bird:
- “That’s my favorite: thank you mom!”
- Momma-bird stood gawking at her ‘chick’ for a few more seconds, before uttering a loud shriek, and then vigorously taking off.
- “Are you alright, Marco?!” Sabrina then asked, concerned.
- “…Did you get the license number of that truck?!” the boy could only reply, before losing consciousness.
- 2.
- Biting the duct tape with his teeth, Marco cut off one last strip from the roll.
- ‘Do you need more?’ he asked, under his breath.
- ‘No, I think this will be more than enough’ was the hushed reply of Sabrina.
- The cheerleader sticked some yellow feathers and plumes to the tape, and then glued it all to the back of Marco’s hoodie.
- ‘There!’ she said, looking at the now feathered boy: ‘Now momma-bird will take you for my little bro!’
- Marco wasn’t so convinced.
- ‘Let’s hope she buys that…’
- ‘Well, my yellow cheerleader uniform was enough to fool her in the first place, so…’
- Marco sighed.
- ‘I’m sorry for what happened, Sabrina! You know how it is: Star’s magic can be a little bit… messy.’
- The girl shrugged.
- ‘Could’ve gone worse.’ Indeed it could: in fact, apart from a few scratches, ruffled hair, and some vertigo, that was one of the mildest accidents she’s had to endure in quite a long time.
- The boy in the hoodie shook his head:
- ‘I wish Star was here to dispel that feathered thug: too bad, Ludo and his gang had the brilliant idea of going overtime, today!’
- ‘Will Star be alright, without your help?!’
- ‘Don’t worry, Sabrina: she’s used to deal with them — Star could kick their butts while blindfolded!’
- The girl wondered if Marco was actually that confident, of if that was just a ruse, to keep her from being anxious.
- ‘Anyway, Marco, we need a new rescue plan: ‘momma’ always keeps an eye on the nest.’
- The boy turned his nose up to the sky.
- ‘Where THE HECK is her?!’ he asked, puzzled.
- ‘I dunno’ Sabrina answered; ‘Every time I tried to sneak away, she immediately caught me, and put me back inside the nest.’
- With a pondering expression, Marco commented.
- ‘Then, we’ll have to come up with something…’
- 3.
- “Meeeow” uttered a very scared cat, nestled on Marco’s lap.
- The boy gave the little house pet a couple gentle strokes; then, he turned to the other occupant of the giant nest.
- “My dinner is a cat, Sabrina” he stoically said; “What did momma-bird bring to you?”
- “…RACCOON, RACCOOOON!” the girl cried in a panic — while the feral creature she held was snarling and waving its claws at her; “AAAYYEEEEE!”
- “L- let’s trade!” the boy suggested, rushing to help her.
- But the giant yellow bird had very clear ideas of WHO had to eat WHAT: with surprising dexterity, the beak of the monster once again placed the little cat in front of Marco, and the rabid raccoon in Sabrina’s arms.
- …This time, though, the survival instinct of the procyonid suggested it to lay low — and NOT to upset the fifteen foot tall yellow hawk.
- Sabrina looked at her flea-riddled live meal, and theatrically commented:
- “…Y- yum yummm!”
- As soon as the flying monster left the water tower, the two animals hastily escaped the nest, running away for their lives.
- Bringing some disinfectant out of his fanny-pack, Marco began to take care of his friend’s latest wounds.
- “I’m sorry, Sabrina” he said, “but I really have no idea how to get us out this situation…”
- “D- don’t worry, M- Marco” she replied, with her eyes welling up with tears.
- The boy carefully treated the numerous scratches on Sabrina’s hands and arms.
- Then, the boy gasped, as he also noticed one on the girl’s cheek.
- “Oh, no” he commented, before cleaning up the wound; “I hope you won’t be left with any scars!”
- The unlucky cheerleader meekly left the boy taking care of her.
- ‘T- thank you, Marco’ she quietly sobbed.
- ‘Don’t even mention it’ he replied, speaking softly: ‘Instead of helping you getting to safety, I’ve just got myself trapped here as well!’
- Sabrina tentatively smiled.
- ‘Still, I feel safer, now that you’re here with me…’
- Their quiet conversation was suddenly interrupted by the loud sound of sirens approaching.
- Marco poked his head out of the nest.
- “There they come — AGAIN!…” he commented, shaking his head in disconcert.
- A firetruck and a police car were rapidly approaching the water tower; but before they got anywhere near the base, the giant yellow monster fiercely dived to the assault.
- Marco’s eyes narrowed.
- “Maybe we can take advantage of the distraction!” he exclaimed: “Sabrina, take my hand!”
- While loud crashing noises thundered from down low, the two of them snuck out of the nest, and quickly began descending the ladder to safety.
- Unfortunately for them, though, Echo Creek’s emergency forces were quite too quickly repelled…
- “EEEK!” Sabrina screamed, as ‘momma-bird’ grabbed her in its claws, and easily pulled her off the ladder.
- “No, SABRINA!” the boy called: he stretched his arm, and grabbed the friend by the ankle.
- …But in doing so, Marco was torn off the rungs as well.
- With a few, powerful beatings of its wings, the giant bird easily gained altitude.
- “Marco!” Sabrina called out.
- The boy was hanging for dear life: unfortunately, though, Sabrina’s loose sock didn’t offer much grip: soon the sock slipped all the way down, and the boy could only hold to the shoe.
- “Oh f—…!” Marco uttered, one instant before Sabrina’s sock and shoe came off.
- The entirety of the boy’s short life flashed in front of his eyes — while once more Sabrina called out his name:
- “MARCOOOO!” she screamed in anguish.
- …But less than a second later, Marco was in the safe grasp of strong and firm talons.
- “…T- thank you, momma-bird” the boy commented, before huffing in relief.
- 4.
- After only one other scrupulous attempt at a rescue, the cops wisely decided simply to evacuate the surroundings of the water tower, and then cordoning the area.
- Marco wondered how much longer they’d have to wait, for the intervention of the US army — but after all, maybe not even the marines could’ve been trusted with dealing with that relentless juggernaut of a canary…!
- ‘Star,’ he lamented, under his breath, ‘where THE HECK are you?!
- Then — not without difficulty — Marco somewhat extricated himself from under the weight of the colossal feathered belly.
- ‘Sabrina!’ he surreptitiously called out: ‘Where are you?’
- A muffled response guided the boy up to the cheerleader.
- After crawling up to her, the boy asked:
- ‘Are you OK, Sabrina?’
- ‘I’m…’ The girl spit pieces of yellow plume out of her mouth: ‘…I’m fine Marco. Maybe just a little too hot.’
- ‘Yep: it’s stupidly hot, under this freakish monster-bird!’
- Almost as in response, the giant hawk clucked; then, it adjusted on top of its two ‘chicks’.
- ‘Nnnnrrrgh!’ the boy grunted, while once more poking his head out in the open air.
- The sun had set about half a hour earlier; and now, the sky was slowly but steadily getting darker and darker…
- ‘We can’t wait for Star any longer’ Marco grunted; ‘We gotta get outta here!’
- Currently, Sabrina’s feet — one of which naked — were the only part of her free from under the belly of the giant bird.
- ‘Mphhhmphhhfhh!’ the girl replied, possibly in an affirmative tone.
- 5.
- While providing concealment for the two teens, the darkness also made Marco and Sabrina’s descent from the water tower even more scary than it already was.
- ‘There’s nothing to worry, Sabrina’ the boy whispered to his friend, in a soothing tone: ‘Just move at a calm and steady pace.’
- In order to keep the situation under control, Marco was climbing down first; on a couple occasions, the boy accidentally glimpsed under Sabrina’s short skirt — and even if he immediately diverted his eyes like a gentleman, that fleeting sight almost momentarily distracted his mind from the perilous task at hand…
- After what felt like an eternity, the two of them finally ended up standing on the ground again.
- “Yeees!” Sabrina cheered, before jumping in Marco’s arms.
- …Then, the two of them immediately froze in place: where they being too noisy? Could the bird wake up, and come looking for them?
- Marco and Sabrina slowly looked up to the water tower, whose black silhouette stood out from the night sky.
- After a few, tense moments, a mildly reassured Marco stared at the girl in front of him, and whispered:
- ‘Alright, Sabrina: the coast looks clear. Now, let’s move!’
- Less than a minute later, Marco’s bike was rolling down the street, safely avoiding the scattered remains of the law enforcement vehicles.
- “Yes, mom…” the boy confirmed on his phone: “In five minutes, more or less. …Oh, that’s a nice idea: now I ask!”
- Marco temporarily took the phone away from his mouth, before questioning the girl who hanged behind him on the bike:
- “Sabrina, would you like to have dinner at my place?”
- “Why not?” the girl answered, smiling; “Thanks, Marco.”
- Sabrina was feeling particularly giddy: she could’ve sworn it wasn’t only because of their successful escape — but whatever the actual reason were, she couldn’t really put a finger on it…
- While confirming the last details to his mother, Marco’s eyes spotted the police cordon in the distance.
- “Alright,” he said, after hanging up; “I can safely say we’re finally out of harm’s way, Sabrina!”
- But that attestation of confidence was due an extremely harsh reality check…
- Suddenly, spotlights shone from above, and quickly encircled the teens on the bike.
- Marco rolled his eyes.
- “Oh, NOW, they think of using helicopters!” the boy commented.
- “M- Marco…” uttered Sabrina: “That doesn’t SOUND like a helicopter!”
- The two teens raised their eyes to the dark sky: there, two round sources of light intensely beamed.
- …And Sabrina was right, there was no sound of helicopter rotors — but rather, the flapping of large wings.
- Nearly instantaneously, momma-bird swooped on the escaping teens, throwing them off the bike.
- Marco was sent rolling on the rough asphalt; after a couple seconds of pain and disorientation, the boy forcibly shook off the stupor, and quickly got back on his feet.
- “Sabrina?!” he called out, trying to locate his friend; the nearby street light flickered, inducing Marco once again to look up.
- “Oh, SHOOT!” he gasped, a single instant before turning back, and starting to run.
- But the bird with the shining eyes again dived to grab him: this time, Marco leaped to the side at the very last moment — and a ripping sound filled the air.
- After rolling on the ground and regaining his footing, Marco checked at his hoodie, and gasped: the giant talons had nearly cut the sweater in half.
- “Holy cannoli!” he uttered.
- Then, the twin spotlights and more flapping of wings, signaled to Marco that the giant bird was now hovering right above him.
- “No, you won’t take me away AGAIN!” the boy defiantly shouted.
- …But — not more than a handful seconds later — Marco soon found himself grasping desperately to a fire hydrant, using the full strength of his arms, legs, teeth, and sheer force of will, in order not to be picked by the implacable angry bird.
- Then, a rock was tossed against the yellow hawk’s head: the beast shrieked with rage, before turning to the attacker.
- “No, ‘momma’!” Sabrina screamed, trying to drown out the bird’s shrieks: “I won’t take ANY MORE of your crap! Leave him ALONE!”
- Then, the lanky girl picked up a scrap of Marco’s broken bike, and then threw it toward the giant bird.
- “Screw off!” Sabrina insisted, waving her arms, and yelling at the top of her lungs: “Shoo, do you hear me?! SHOO!”
- The girl tossed pretty much everything she could find on the ground; and even though the front wheel of Marco’s destroyed vehicle missed its target by a mile, nonetheless momma-bird looked scorned and flustered.
- The supernatural creature flapped its massive wings, before disappearing in the night.
- It took Marco nearly a minute, before his limbs could finally relax, thus letting go of the hydrant; after standing up and counting his extremities, the boy turned to his friend.
- “Sabrina, are you alright?”
- The blast of air caused by the massive wings had sent Sabrina on the ground: she looked now clearly shaken and battered — most likely in shock.
- “M- Marco” she muttered with a trembly voice, while sitting up: “I’m afraid I just tossed away your phone!”
- The boy rushed to the girl: he gave Sabrina a brief checkup, before helping her standing up.
- Then, Marco couldn’t help but sighing in relief, and hugging her tight.
- ‘Sabrina,’ he murmured, concerned: ‘please, be more careful!’
- For a few, precious moments, the girl basked in Marco’s warm embrace; and soon, in spite of how heavy and aching her arms felt, she reciprocated it.
- “…Funny” she commented, smiling; “When I hold on to you, I don’t feel the pain anymore.”
