  1. Idolish Seven: Story Part 2
  2. Chapter 1: A Brand-New Door
  3.
  4. ||| 1-1: An Important Announcement |||
  5. Tsumugi: Please...
  6. Tsumugi: I hope that everyone will accept the new IDOLiSH7... (1)
  7. Mister Shimaoka: It's time for our next guest, IDOLiSH7!
  8. Audience: *screams*
  9. Audience: Ah... Wait...? Riku-kun isn't the center...?
  10. Audience: ......Iori-kun......!?
  11. Mister Shimaoka: With Izumi Iori-kun as the new center, IDOLiSH7 has turned over a new leaf! The song is, "Perfection Gimmick!"
  12. Mister Shimaoka: sore de wa douzo
  13.
  14. Tsumugi: A sudden center change.
  15. Tsumugi: There was a reason behind that.
  16. Mitsuki: ...You want to listen to my song? (2)
  17. Mitsuki: Then I'll sing as thanks for the delicious cake. Sing with me.
  18. Mitsuki: My song... Zero's song, together with me.
  19.
  20. Mitsuki: ...is what he said to me when I met him! Zero was so cool!
  21. Riku: That's nice... I've only seen him on TV.
  22. Tamaki: I've heard his name before. Is he really that amazing?
  23. Iori: Well, he is considered the person who started the current idol boom.
  24. Iori: Although Zero was only active for a short 3 years, all of the businesses affiliated with Zero have been growing by 20% yearly.
  25. Iori: It is said that he increased the economy worldwide by 100 billion yen up until his final year, when he disappeared.
  26. Tamaki: Woah, that's amazing!
  27. Yamato: Even though he was making bank, why'd he disappear at the height of his popularity?
  28. Sougo: And Zero's songwriter, Sakura Haruki-san, ended up in Nagi's country during his search for Zero.
  29. Nagi: YES! And at that time, Haruki entrusted me with the songs that he had written for Zero.
  30. Mitsuki: Hey, hey! Did he happen to say anything about what Zero's like?
  31. Nagi: He told me that Zero's songs are MAGIC-- as if he were a magician casting joy upon his listeners. (4)
  32. Mitsuki: A magician, huh... Ah, I really want to meet him again!
  33. Iori: Speaking of Zero, it seems like they are re-opening Zero Arena.
  34. Iori: There will most likely be an extravagant kokera-otoshi for the renewal.
  35. Tamaki: Kokera-otoshi? Is it kind of like daruma-otoshi? Are they gonna demolish it with a hammer, even though they just rebuilt it?
  36. Iori: Of course not, there's nothing to be gained from that.
  37. Sougo: Kokera-otoshi refers to the first public performance done at a newly built theater.
  38. Sougo: It gets a lot of media attention and lots of people are gathered in one place for this event, so the big players in every industry are called forth.
  39. Sougo: I'm sure there'll be top stars from the idol industry, befitting of Zero, performing at the grand opening.
  40. *th door unlock noise*
  41. Tsumugi: ... I'm back......
  42. Riku: Welcome back, Manager. You met up with that TV station to-- wait, are you crying!?
  43. Iori: What happened!?
  44. Tsumugi: ....I... I have... A Very-- a very important announcement for everyone...!
  45. Riku: Announcement...?
  46. Tsumugi: I just want to thank you all... for letting me be IDOLiSH7's manager up to this point...
  47. Tsumugi: I...
  48. //
  49. Iori: ......! This leadup, could it be she's quitting as our manager?
  50. Iori: Is it because of that one time I scolded her for even longer since her despondent expression was just too cute!?
  51. Yamato: Did a complaint come in because I was practicing our dance at my drama's filming site?
  52. Mitsuki: Is it because I got carried away and went drinking with those super famous band dudes after filming!?
  53. Tamaki: I was eating King's Pudding in class... Did my teacher tattle on me or something?
  54. Sougo: Even though she told me I could consult her on things, did I perhaps rearrange MEZZO"'s schedule around a little too much?
  55. Nagi: OH... I got really excited and took a commemorative photo with those fangirls... Maybe there's an issue with that?
  56. Riku: Is it because I had dance practice late into the night even though she told me to take it easy!?
  57. //
  58. Riku: No way, are you quitting!?
  59. Tsumugi: --At last! I can finally return the favor with this new job I've picked up for you guys!
  60. Tsumugi: IDOLiSH7 will have their own show...!
  61. All: Yay!!!
  62. To be continued...
  63.
  64. (1) Tsumugi literally says "Please, the new IDOLiSH7's form, I pray that everyone will accept them..." but given the context (aka Iori is the new center), I switched to this sentence for flow/less clunkiness.
  65. (2) Mitsuki uses 僕 as his pronoun here instead of his usual オレ, which leads me to believe that he's quoting Zero. MMM YONAGA'S LOW VOICE...
  66. (3) 彼が消えた最終年までに全世界に与えた経済結果は1000億以上ともいわれています。 / Iori is basically wikipedia at this point and reciting all of these economic facts, much to my chagriN, aka 経済結果 is kind of vague? I want to say his net worth internationally was 100 billion yen since that's generally the context we see Big Money Numbers and Famous People in, BUT... ????? Feel free to correct me on this because I am no economics experT
  67. (4) Belated but, omitted subjects/nouns r the Bane of mY ExisTence so there will be a few 'assumed' subjects... g od
  68. (5) If You Thought This Exchange Made Zero Sense, You're Right Because English Is Not The Best Medium For Translating Japanese Puns into!!!!
  69. Iori says こけら落とし (kokera-otoshi), which is lit. the opening of a new theater. There's some cool etymology behind it, aka they'd clear off the wood as the last step in construction hence the 'woodblock' in the name, but it's a Very Big Deal!!
  70. ANYWAYS Tamaki is confused, bc that sounds similar to another thing, だるま落とし (daruma-otoshi), which is is this game where you hit little blocks underneath this daruma with a lil mallet and try not to Destroy The Entire thing (it's kinda like Jenga, check it out here: http://45web.net/daruma_otosi.htm).
  71. HENCE WHY TAMAKI's LIKE "AY HOLD UP THEY JUST REBUILT THE PLACE WHY R THEY HITTING IT WITH A HAMMER???" BC HE THINKS KOKERA OTOSHI IS LIKE DARUMA OTOTSHI, but for... theaters/arenas... LmAO
  72. THANK YOU SOUGO FOR BEING A LIVING DICTIONARY!!!!!!! EXCELLENT! ! !
  73. (6) if u follow me on twitter u saw this but my Dream Shuffle Unit is Iori and Sougo.... ah yes... Exposition Word Vomit Bonanza...
  74. (7) SOUND EFFECTS DONT QUITE RIGHT IN ENGLISH maybe because I'm picky but yes tsumugi is like ?? sobbing and hiccuping as she announces her thing WHAT A CUTIE ! ! !
  75.
  76.
  77. ||| 1-2: The Reason Behind Those Tears |||
  78. Banri: Congratulations on getting your own show, everyone!
  79. Otoharu: Congrats! You've all worked so hard. ** みんなよく頑張ったね
  80. Kinako: Myu-myuu! (holy shit burN THIS RABBIT)
  81. Tsumugi: Yes...!
  82. Sougo: Manager, about the sponsors......
  83. Tsumugi: Don't worry about it! The sponsors are predominantly IT companies, with little to no ties to the business and governmental sectors. (1)
  84. Sougo: That's good to hear... With this, we can finally put this issue to rest and continue on without any more trouble from my end... (2)
  85. Yamato: It's all because you did your best. You've come so far, that not even your father can interfere anymore since both MEZZO" and IDOLiSH7 are pretty well-known now. (3)
  86. Sougo: Thank you, Yamato-san.
  87. Tamaki: Is getting our own show like, a really big thing?
  88. Mitsuki: It is, it is! We're getting a show that features our name right up top, kinda like "Mister Shimaoka's The TV Man Show"!
  89. Otoharu: Part of the reason why you're getting your own show is because of Mitsuki-kun's hard work on "The TV Man Show," you know?
  90. Mitsuki: H-huh, me?
  91. Banri: Remember how Mister Shimaoka came down with the flu just a little before the end of the year, and had to take a break from the show?
  92. Banri: That one time where you all filmed without Mister Shimaoka.
  93. Banri: A lot of variety show people praised Mitsuki-kun's performance! Especially his ability to talk non-stop and keep the conversation going.
  94. Yamato: Definitely. Mitsu really saved us that time. He connected each conversation topic to the other, and changed topics smoothly too. Mitsu's always doing this for us, though.
  95. Riku: Like during the MC Corner's for live performances! He keeps everyone on topic, and always says stuff to pump everyone up!
  96. Mitsuki: I... I don't do anything out of the ordinary though...
  97. Otoharu: That's what you think, but it's an incredibly valuable talent to people in the TV business!
  98. Mitsuki: Ah......
  99. Otoharu: Thank you, Mitsuki-kun. It's because of your talent that we've secured a show for IDOLiSH7.
  100. Mitsuki: Because of... me...?
  101. Iori: It's incredible, Nii-san! People in the industry are finally recognizing your talent, just from watching your work!
  102. Nagi: I love Mitsuki's stories! Your voice, the way you speak-- you make everyone smile and cheer everyone up!
  103. Nagi: Mitsuki, VERY VERY THANK YOU! (4)
  104. Sougo: We knew you could do it, Mitsuki-san!
  105. Tamaki: I'm really glad Mikkii's here!
  106. Riku: Thank you, Mitsuki!
  107. Mitsuki: Ah... Ahaha, you dumbasses... Now, don't flatter me...... I couldn't have done all of this by myself...
  108. Mitsuki: I'ma head to the restroom for a bit, okay?
  109. *slam*
  110. Sougo: I thought he'd be moved, but he was fairly calm and collected.
  111. Yamato: Nope.
  112. Yamato: He's definitely crying in the bathroom.
  113. Mitsuki: ....... I did it! I.... I did it--
  114. Yamato: See?
  115. Tsumugi: M-Mitsuki-san...! He's worked so hard..... I'm so, so happy.....
  116. Iori: Crying out of empathy again, are we?
  117. Iori: Nii-san's long-cherished dreams are finally coming true-- the world is finally recognizing my brother's talents.
  118. Otoharu: It's the same for you kids. Each and every one of unique, and that uniqueness is valuable, splendid. The pros in the industry can see it too.
  119. Otoharu: That's why, with its massive budget and all the people working behind it, this show is in your hands now.
  120. Otoharu: Thank you, for working your hardest up until now. I am truly grateful.
  121. All: Yes!
  122. Otoharu: Ahaha, yep.
  123. Mitsuki: how do i make crying noises in english
  124. Mitsuki: WAILS LOUDLY
  125. Mitsuki: WAILS EVEN FUCKING LOUDER, HALF LAUGHING
  126. Otoharu: ........
  127. Otoharu: I kind of need to use the bathroom...
  128. Banri: President, please hold it in.
  129.
  130. Mitsuki: Alright! This is it, we either make it or break it here! Let's meet it head on, with all our might!
  131. Mitsuki: We've done all of this before, but we gotta watch other shows and study how they talk and lead the MC sections.
  132. Yamato: Ahaha, someone's enthusiastic.
  133. Mitsuki: Of course I am! I mean, I've finally done something useful for everyone. I'm not great at singing, and I suck at dancing, and I'm short, and I can't really act......
  134. Mitsuki: Meeting Zero, looking up to him all these years, and finally making it to where I am today... It's all thanks to you guys!
  135. Mitsuki: I finally, finally have a chance to repay the favor to you guys for making me into an idol!
  136. Mitsuki: There's no way I /wouldn't/ be pumped up about this!
  137. Riku: What are you saying? We wouldn't have made it this far without you, Mitsuki!
  138. Mitsuki: Ahaha! Now, now, that's enough about me! (5)
  139. Tsumugi: The name of the show has been decided: "A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7!" The members of IDOLiSH7 will be challenging various things, alongside amateurs! (6)
  140. Tsumugi: You'll record the actual challenge at the filming location, and then watch the video of it with the guests in the studio, all while talking! That's how the show will be formatted.
  141. Riku: Ooh, it sounds interesting!
  142. Tsumugi: There'll be a lot of places to film at, so it'll be even busier than ever.....
  143. Mitsuki: I'm glad we have work to do! We'll do our best!!
  144. Tsumugi: Yes! I look forward to working with you all! (7)
  145. Tsumugi: Once the details have been settled, there'll be a meeting for the show.
  146. Tsumugi: From here on out, as the show gains more publicity, IDOLiSH7 may appear on other shows from this station as guests! And then, the number of promos you'll appear in will increase too!
  147. Riku: Promos, huh? Sounds fun! There's a show I've always watched and looked up to... Maybe we'll get to appear in it someday!
  148. Banri: There'll be a lot of big-name shows you guys will be guest-starring in, like "Monday Golden Paradise" and "Goodnight, Calico Cat Alleyway." (8)
  149. Banri: It also looks like you'll get to star on Re:vale's show too!
  150. Sougo: Re:vale!?
  151. Banri: Yeah. The group that was the overall winner for this year's Black or White-- Re:vale.
  152. Mitsuki: Re:vale, huh. I really look up to them! Momo-san and Yuki-san are so cool!
  153. Banri: I'm a fan of Re:vale too.
  154. Mitsuki: Is that so?
  155. Banri: I have all their CDs. I use them as reference for IDOLiSH7's PR.
  156. Tsumugi: Re:vale is also good at variety! They're very cheery and bright, orthodox idols. (9)
  157. Riku: We're gonna be on Re:vale's show... That's amazing!
  158. Iori: We've appeared on a quite a few big shows with them, but we've yet to say anything more than a simple greeting to them.
  159. Yamato: Re:vale......
  160.
  161. To be continued......
  162.
  163. (1) Tsumugi uses 政財界 to refer to their sponsors, which in doing so is supposed to ease Sougo's worries that his father's company may cancel i7's show again! see also: me yeLLing on twitter 'GUYS DO U REMEMBER WHAT INDUSTRY SOUGOs' DADS cOMPANY WAS ? ? dUDE"
  164. jisho tells me this could mean anything from politics+business, business+industry, to government+business and im like please Pick One.
  165. UNTIL I BACKTRACK TO PART 1 AND REREAD, ITS JUST GONNA STAY BUSINESS AND GOVERNMENTAL \o/
  166. (2) Sougo actually says something that more or less implies that they can finally put that issue to rest, and that at least on this front he won't be causing trouble for everyone (because of his family history) aND IM SO
  167. (3) JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT That I will be subbing 'us' / 冠番組 for IDOLiSH7 occasionally, when it grammatically makes more sense because, English.......
  168. (4) WHAT DO I DO WITH NAGI'S lowkey not-quite-sensical KATAKANA'D ENGLISH ????????
  169. (5) いいんだよ、オレの気持ちの問題! - Mitsuki says lit. "That's enough about (the problem of) my feelings" but v clearly atmosphere-wise hes like AIGHt guYS DROP IT I GET IT AHAHA bc everyone is abt to go for round two of "We Love Mitsuki and Here's Why We Couldn't Have Made It This Far Without You" .... Local Girl Ruins Phone By Crying Onto It.........
  170. (6) キミと愛なNight... This is a Pun, a pun of idolish7's shortened name ainana (the 'i' in idolish seven is アイ in japanese, and 7 can be read as 'nana')......... if you write it out its 'kimi to ai na naito' ...... its a pun, and almost Impossible to write in english so here I am, spouting a textwall in the TL note because i just... translated it... i guess.. and slapped on IDOLiSH7 bc their name aint in the title otherwise!!! lies down........
  171. Also Tsumugi mentions 'amateurs' literally 素人さん....... i am not familiar enough with JP variety/anything shows to speak but holy hell please correct me if im wrong
  172. (7) keigo stockphrases give me Nightmares, 'yoroshiku onegaishimasu' echoing as i try to go to sleep every night.......
  173. (8) M H MM MORE PROGRAM NAMES. 『三毛猫横丁のおばんどす』is translated pretty literally, but 'obandosu' is apparently dialect for oyasumi! HOW CU TE....... Specifically originates from Kyoto iirc, so the image of a cat in a kimono or smth (think kyoto pikachu) is easing my soul......... as i cross my fingers for Less TV Show Names because i .. .. d o not enj oy ... translating short titles LOL
  174. (9) 正統派 means orthodox literally like Orthodox Church, but even so, it confuses me a little as to why Tsumugi uses this to describe Re:vale (of all grouPS) because... well, you'll see :^)
  175.
  176.
  177.
  178. ||| 1-3: Start! IDOLiSH7's Own Show |||
  179. Tsumugi: The name of the show has been decided: "A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7!" The members of IDOLiSH7 will be challenging various things, alongside amateurs!
  180. Tsumugi: You'll record the actual challenge at the filming location, and then watch the video of it with the guests in the studio, all while talking! That's how the show will be formatted.
  181. Tsumugi: From here on out, as the show gains more publicity, IDOLiSH7 may appear on other shows from this station as guests! And then, the number of promos you'll appear in will increase too!
  182. Banri: There'll be a lot of big-name shows you guys will be guest-starring in, like "Monday Golden Paradise" and "Goodnight, Calico Cat Alleyway."
  183. Banri: It also looks like you'll get to star on Re:vale's show too!
  184. Tsumugi: Re:vale is also good at variety! They're very cheery and bright, orthodox idols.
  185. Riku: We're gonna be on Re:vale's show... That's amazing!
  186. Iori: We've appeared on a quite a few big shows with them, but we've yet to say anything more than a simple greeting to them.
  187. Yamato: Re:vale......
  188. Mitsuki: Yamato-san, what's wrong?
  189. Yamato: Huh? Oh, it's nothing.
  190.
  191. Fans:.... One, two, three-- Tamaki~
  192. Yamato: Ah... Looks like there's fangirls outside again. I guess they found out where our agency is.
  193. Mitsuki: Tamaki's fangirls? This isn't the first time its happened. Tamaki sure is popular~
  194. Fans: Tamaki!
  195. Tamaki: Hold up. I'ma go tell them they're being too noisy.
  196. Sougo: It would be best if you don't show yourself to them. Also, telling them that they're noisy is a little...
  197. Tamaki: Then... what should I say? If I told them they were disturbing the neighborhood... They'd get mad at me, right?
  198. Tsumugi: I'll go warn them. It's best if none of you showed your faces to them.
  199. Tamaki: Nn...... Sorry.
  200. Tsumugi: There's nothing to apologize for, Tamaki-san!
  201.
  202. Host: And now, today's guest! High school student and idol, IDOLiSH7's Yotsuba Tamaki-kun!
  203. Tamaki: 'Sup.
  204. Fans: Kyaaaaaa!
  205. Host: Tamaki-kun, the crowd's going wild! You sure are one good lookin' guy! You're a lot bigger than I thought you'd be, now that I've met you in person......
  206. Fans: Kyaaaaaa!
  207. Fans: Tamaki! Tamaki!
  208. Tamaki: Shh!
  209. Fans: Kyaaaaaa!
  210. Host: Ahaha! The crowd just won't stop cheering! Now, a word for the audience from you.....
  211. Fans: Tamaki! Take me~
  212. Tamaki: Sure.
  213. Fans: Kyaaaaaa!
  214. Tamaki: So, shh! Quiet.
  215.
  216. Tsumugi: Tamaki's popularity sure is amazing...... MEZZO" has always been popular, though.
  217. Tsumugi: Ever since the start of the new year, he's been appearing on more and more variety shows so he's the most popular member by far.
  218. Iori: Indeed. Do you understand why Yotsuba-san is so popular?
  219. Tsumugi: Because of his appearance and dancing... And also because there's lots of talk about his younger sister Aya, even though Tamaki didn't quite intend for this to happen. (1)
  220. Tsumugi: However, I think the main reason is this: Tamaki is very close to the audience.
  221. Iori: Exactly.
  222. Iori: If he finds something boring, it'll show on his face since he's an honest person. And he'll say what the audience members are all thinking, directly and without any hesitation. (2)
  223. Iori: That being said, Yotsuba-san and Nii-san are complete opposites.
  224. Iori: Nii-san is closer to his fellow performers, the creators, while Yotsuba-san is closer to the audience.
  225. Iori: If there's a lull in the conversation, Nii-san always tries his best to get everyone excited. Hence why his co-stars are quite fond of him.
  226. Iori: However, from the viewer's perspective, the merry atmosphere of the show feels forced at times.
  227. Iori: In contrast, Yotsuba-san does not pander to those around him and oftentimes says something unexpected, which causes a stir at the studio. As such, viewers feel a sense of admiration and intimacy for Yotsuba-san's character. (3)
  228. Tsumugi: The performers' side, and the viewers' side...... Television is quite deep, isn't it?
  229. Iori: On the flip side, we have nothing to fear since we have these two as members in our group.
  230. Additionally, we have Nanase-san-- He possesses incredible vocal talent, and is a genius at charming everyone into loving him. (4)
  231. *click*
  232. Riku: Iori, you haven't gone home yet? Ah-- Manager......
  233. Tsumugi: Thank you for all your hard work today, Riku-san.
  234. Riku: ....... It's just the two of you talking in private, again?
  235. Iori: Nanase-san, please go home first. I have something to discuss with her.
  236. Riku: You're gonna keep on talking in private!?
  237. Iori: Yes. Please do not interfere. Now, hurry up and go.
  238. Riku: Wait--
  239. *slam*
  240. Iori: Back to what I was saying. Nanase-san is a genius, overflowing with charm. As long as we have him, we will definitely reach the top.
  241. Iori: In this current era, what we need is not charisma-- We need to become stars like Zero, charming and well-loved. If we continue our promotions with him as our center...
  242. *click*
  243. Riku: U-um, you know, isn't it a little weird!? That you two are just, talking alone all the time like this...
  244. Iori: Didn't I tell you not to interfere?
  245. Riku: W-wait--
  246. *slam*
  247. Iori: Really now...
  248. Tsumugi: ...So you say the person you kicked out just now, is a genius overflowing with charm?
  249. Iori: At least on stage. Everywhere else he's just a naive, spoiled brocon. (5)
  250. Tsumugi: T-that's a little...
  251. Iori: I predict that we will be getting more offers for another IDOLiSH7-branded show, after our current one starts airing.
  252. Iori: We're almost there-- soon it'll be /our/ era. (6)
  253.
  254. Tsumugi: And so, facing the new season head on, IDOLiSH7 is off to a running start!
  255. Tsumugi: With the start of their own show drawing close, their dizzyingly busy days began.
  256.
  257. Tsumugi: The super-detailed planning meeting......
  258. Show Producer: "A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7! -- a show where IDOLiSH7 and amateurs challenge all sorts of things." That's the kind of program it'll be.
  259. Show Producer: Both the studio, where guests will be invited to talk with you all, and the filming location will be vital. IDOLiSH7 is great on talk shows, so I have great expectations!
  260. Riku: Yes! We look forward to working with you.
  261. Show Producer: As for the challenges for this first episode, we've already collected via public responses! Challenge: Taking an Exam, Challenge: Making Soba, and Challenge: Being an Okami For a Day. (7)
  262. Tamaki: Taking an exam... Can we all study together? If so, that's perfect timing since finals are right around the corner...
  263. Iori: You just want everyone to tutor you, don't you?
  264. Sougo: How about the two of you take on this challenge? I'm sure you can cover for each other.
  265. Iori: Aren't you burdening me with a little too much....?
  266. Mitsuki: Making soba sounds pretty interesting! If we get good at it, then we won't have to order take-out anymore!
  267. Nagi: Then we can eat tempura soba ANYTIME!
  268. Riku: And Mitsuki's a certified chef since his family owns a cake shop! I mean, soba and mont blancs are pretty similar, right?
  269. Mitsuki: Not in the slightest. That's an insult to both of them, y'know.
  270. Yamato: More importantly, do we have to crossdress for the okami challenge......
  271. Show Producer: Mhmm.
  272. Yamato: Let's settle this. Rock paper scissors.
  273. Mitsuki: Alright, let's go.
  274.
  275. Tsumugi: And so, to promote the show, the members began their guest-appearances.
  276. Host: Today's guest is IDOLiSH7! We'll be asking you plenty of questions about the behind-the-scenes aspects of your show, which will air soon, "A Lovely Night with IDOLiSH7!"
  277. Riku: We look forward to it!
  278. Iori: We look forward to it.
  279. Host: Let's get right down to it. Have you watched our show before?
  280. Riku: Yes! There's lots of escape games! I'm not too great at figuring out codes though.
  281. Host: That's exactly what you'll be doing today! All 7 of you will work together to escape from this set within the given time limit!
  282. Nagi: OH! Tamaki, what's the matter? Why are you hiding behind me?
  283. Tamaki: N-no... Isn't this a haunted house?
  284. Nagi: It looks gloomy, but it's not a haunted house.
  285. Riku: Yeah! That, and ghosts aren't scary at all. Back when I was hospitalized, I saw quite a few but......
  286. Iori: How about you /not/ tell ghost stories to someone who is already scared.
  287. Tamaki: I'm not going in! Never!
  288.
  289. Mitsuki: And now for IDOLiSH7's Gourmet Tour! Hopefully we'll be off on and on our way soon.
  290. Mitsuki: ....What are you doing! We gotta go soon! ....Huh!? A super-cheap sweets shop!?
  291. Yamato: Here. This is fugashi.
  292. Sougo: Oh? I've never been to a sweets shop before...
  293. Yamato: Really? Then this one's on me.
  294. Mitsuki: Man, we literally just started and we're already off track. Ah! If it's your first time, Sougo, then you should get this! Ah, and also this, this, and this!
  295. Yamato: Someone sure is generous when it's Onii-san's wallet that has to take the hit instead.
  296. Sougo: Ahaha, this is great! It's just like Christmas!
  297.
  298. Tsumugi: And so, IDOLiSH7's first recording session of the year came, for the theme song that would accompany their show!
  299. Otoharu: Congrats on the show! It was decided a while ago, but here's the theme song!
  300. Mitsuki: Wow..... What a great song! I'm sure our viewers will remember it and singing it too!
  301. Nagi: It's PERFECT for Riku's voice!
  302. Riku: You think so? Thanks!
  303. Iori: This is the biggest chance for us, IDOLiSH7, to spread our name. Sing it with all your might!
  304. Riku: Yeah! Got-- *cough* ...Got it!
  305. Iori: Nanase-san......
  306.
  307. To be continued......
  308.
  309.
  310. (1) Tsumugi says ご本人は不本意 which throws me off a little because either it was Tamaki or Aya that was unwilling/unintentional abt Aya turning into a big buzzword kinda thing?? Mm it makes more sense for Tamaki to be the subject though, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
  311. (2) iori can u maybe, talk likea normal 17 ye ar o ld.? the quick and dirty summary is that say Tamaki's' on a show and he's bored. He's not gonna make any attempts to look remotely interested because if he's bored, he's bored. If the audience is thinking 'damn this is a boring ass show," he might voice similar thoughts since he's that kind of person-- unabashedly direct, straightforward, honest (even when he shouldn't be). It's this sort of in-group analysis that makes me enjoy Iori's lines so muCH. Also sINCE IM ON THIS TANGENT ANYWAYS, this makes MEZZO" a pretty interesting dynamic since they are Very Much So opposites, with Sougo being the definition of restraint, propriety, following rules etcetc.
  312. (3) dman iori please never stop talking about your memBERS i cOULD LIVE Off of this. ANYWAYS to clarify just in case, Mitsuki is much closer to the 'creators' aka the people on the other side of the screen, while Tamaki is closer to the audience/your side of the screen. Mitsuki will try to 'create' the appropriate atmosphere for a show, aka push the conversation where it needs to go. Hence sometimes variety shows will feel 'fake' or staged. But Tamaki is, again, not one to suck-up to any of his co-stars and probably will be honest if their joke sucks, even if it disrupts the flow of conversation. ThiS TL NOTE Is turning into a lot of me extrapolating but g g gg od, Iori is a meta-machine in his own right even though he himself is the source material!!
  313. (4) somteims i sit in the darkness of my bedroom at 1:30 am, translating, and curse the absolutely terrible leap that is converting something from with east asian syntax into english and i. okay. So Riku has this overwhelming, excellent, incredible, fantastic singing power. And is a genius, possessing a charm to him that makes everyone love him. That is the literal. Iori's trying to say that Riku is really damN good at 'being loved' aka you CANT HELP BUT LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL RED SUNSHINE!!! (me crooning わかるー at my phone at like 5 am when i first played through this scene a few weeks ago). So yeah, that's the explanation! Riku just has something in him that you can't help but love-- and that's what Iori is dubbing 'genius' because Riku just does it; it's something intrinsic.
  314. (5) brocon = brother complex, and i sure hope you all know what that means by noW lmao
  315. (6) M mM ME IN TE ARS BECAUSE THIS IS A REFERENCE TO MONSTER GENERATION, ABOUT CREATING A tHEIR OWN ERA, THEIR OWN GENERATION THAT WILL NEVER F AD E ? ?? ? Does not help that tsumugi's subsequent few linES ARE ALSO A REFERENCES TO MONGEN CAN U BOTH NOT (specifically yamato's 走り始めた and tamaki's 目まぐるしく.............. x-files theme song blasting in the bg wHAT COULD THIS MEAN probably not much rlly)
  316. (7) Okami = the mistress or head lady boss of traditional places like ryokan (Japanese-style inns). You can read up on it over here (http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/indepth/exotic/onsen_ryokan/p2_okami.html)! But yeah that's why Yamato's like... do we... have to... dress the part too.... (aka crossdressing) and :^) BOY I WISH I COULD'VE SEEN THIS
  317. (8) DUDE I DIDNT KNOW U NEEDED A LICENSE TO BE A CHEF But yeah, you do (in america too ooh) so yeaH ~the more u learn~ DAMN MIKKII THO
  318. There's two main ways you can become a certified chef in Japan! One is to go to culinary school for 1+ years, graduate, and you can get your certification without taking an exam that way. The other way is to work for 2+ years in an actual restaurant/food place, and if you pass the license test you'll get your certification. Seeing how the Izumi's have Fonte Chocolate aka the cake shop (did u mean patisserie bc its fancy af maN), I'm guessing Mitsuki probably just went and took the test since he's already got irl experience in the food industry from that. I don't know what these TL notes are turning into but i do know that i'm doing a lot of aimless googling here and there and this is kind of a Mess.
  319. (9) Dagashi (駄菓子) = cheap sweets, think dollar store candy but Japanese!
  320. Fugashi (麩菓子) = a traditional sweet that I have never had before so I can't adequately explain, but I did contemplate buying some yesterday when I went grocery shopping simply because it had Okinawan Brown Sugar on the packaging, and I..... (http://matome.naver.jp/odai/2140580585244456501)
  321.
  322.
  323. ||| 1-4: The Waiting Room |||
  324. Otoharu: Congrats on the show! It was decided a while ago, but here's the theme song!
  325. Mitsuki: Wow..... What a great song! I'm sure our viewers will remember it and singing it too!
  326. Nagi: It's PERFECT for Riku's voice!
  327. Riku: You think so? Thanks!
  328. Iori: This is the biggest chance for us, IDOLiSH7, to spread our name. Sing it with all your might!
  329. Riku: Yeah! Got-- *cough* ...Got it!
  330. Iori: Nanase-san......
  331.
  332. /Tsumugi: And so, the day for IDOLiSH7's guest appearance on Re:vale's program came.
  333. Tsumugi: Good job everyone! It seems like recording will start on time.
  334. Sougo: Understood. Speaking of which, Riku isn't here. Do you know where he is?
  335. Tsumugi: He went to the bathroom with Nagi-san. It seems like Riku-san's condition has been worsening more readily as of late...
  336. Iori: There's something I wish to discuss in regards to that, before he returns. Nanase-san's physical condition deteriorates whenever he is stressed, correct?
  337. Iori: And isn't there something that could very easily become a major cause of stress?
  338. Tsumugi: ...? Major, you say? Wouldn't that be Iori-san?
  339. Iori: What are you trying to say.
  340. Tsumugi: Aah! My cheek--
  341. Iori: I was referring to our senpai idols, Re:vale. They could easily be seen as intimidating people.
  342. Mitsuki: I was thinking the same thing. Like what if they ignore us when we go to greet them, or what if they're super scary?
  343. Mitsuki: I tried to reassure myself by searching them up online, but all I got was stuff like about how they have nasty tempers or they don't get along with others......
  344. Iori: Re:vale have been consistently winning, so things like common courtesy and greeting others might be trivial to them.
  345. Tamaki: Like how there wasn't a gift for us? (1)
  346. Sougo: Maybe they didn't need feel the need to give us anything......
  347. Tsumugi: W-what should we do?
  348. Yamato: Even if those rumors are true, there's nothing we can do about it.
  349. Yamato: But just saying, according to the internet, me and Mitsu are in a power struggle for leader position. As such, our group is still in a dangerous situation, even to this day.
  350. Mitsuki: Yeah, no.
  351. Yamato: Also according to the internet, the members of MEZZO" hang out together out on their days off and get along just swell.
  352. Tamaki: Nope.
  353. Sougo: Not at all.
  354. Yamato: But just in case, let's all be on guard, alright?
  355. Tsumugi: I-I will proceed with utmost caution! I will practice how to exchange business cards formally, before going forth!
  356. Riku: Sorry for the wait, everyone!
  357. Nagi: We found Re:vale's waiting room! Is it OK if we open their door with a BANG?
  358. Mitsuki: NO, NO, NO!
  359. Iori: We must all be in order, and knock on their door with all the politeness in the world, understood?
  360. Riku: A-are Re:vale scary people?
  361. Iori: Not at all~ They're not scary at all. Now, now. Please relax.
  362. Riku: Could you maybe, not talk like you're trying to hypnotize me?
  363. Tsumugi: Everyone, I'm sure you're all aware of this already, but let's just go over it again just in case.
  364. Tsumugi: Re:vale's Momo-san. With a bright, sunny disposition, he's quite popular and appears very frequently on variety shows.
  365. Riku: All the shows Momo-san appear on are full of cheer and really fun! I'm sure he's nice and a really good person.
  366. Iori: Are you aware of the fact that your extremely sharp-tongued twin brother is often called a modern-day angel on television?
  367. Riku: Ten-nii /is/ an angel!
  368. Iori: This brocon...
  369. Tsumugi: Continuing on, Yuki-san. With a calm and collected atmosphere about him, Yuki-san is a skilled actor and has received much praise for his work.
  370. Mitsuki: Yuki-san sure is cool! I cried when I watched his first movie, that one historical drama with Chiba Shizuo-san!
  371. Mitsuki: That one was so good! His acting ability puts most actors to shame. Did you also watch that one, Yamato-san?
  372. Yamato: No.
  373. Tsumugi: Alright...... Let us embark, and go say our greetings to Re:vale!
  374. All: Yeah!
  375. Yamato: It sounds like we're going on a raid......
  376. *knock knock*
  377. *click*
  378. Tsumugi: Please excuse the intrusion. This is IDOLiSH7, from Takanashi Productions. I am their manager, Takanashi Tsumugi.
  379. Tsumugi: We look forward to working with you today!
  380. [CG GOES HERE]
  381. Momo: Oh?
  382. Yuki: IDOLiSH7?
  383. /Tsumugi: Oh boy, they're the real thing.... It's Re:vale, in the flesh!
  384.
  385. To be continued...
  386.
  387. (1) temiyage is like this small gift thing given to visitors. I'm assuming that there generally is one for guests (on shows etc), so the lack of one was unsettling to the i7 boys. Aka iori talking about 'ok maybe re:v are like super big-shots so idk they dont needa be polite anymore ya feel" and tamaki and sougo going "o shit thATS wHy we don't have this Common Courtesty Item ...."
  388. WOW That was a refreshingly short section! B l e s s
  389. CHIBA SHIZUO................ that's all I can say for now because all I have is speculation but.... I have my eye on you....
  390. honestly whenever i write *knock knock* all i can think of is "knock knock, its the United States"
